AescWP (トネリコWP, Toneriko?), Class Name Caster (キャスター, Kyasutā?), is a Caster-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order. Aesc comprises the First Ascension and Second Ascension, while Morgan in her Summer Saint Graph comprises the Third Ascension.
Profile[]
Identity[]
Aesc is the original version of Lostbelt Morgan before she gave up on her purpose to forge Excalibur in Faerie Britain.
Originally named Viviane (ヴィヴィアン?),[4] she was created by the planet in 4,000 BC to be the savior of Britain. She was taken in and raised by the Rain Clan in Orkney.[3] One day, Aesc received the memories of Proper Human History Ruler Morgan le Fay.[5][6] During her 16th birthday, the Rain Clan was massacred overnight by an alliance of the Wind, Earth, Fang, and Wing clans. They were killed for protecting the Fairy of Paradise. In fulfilling her role as savior, she used the name Aesc the Savior (救世主トネリコ, Kyūseishu Toneriko?) as an alias (after the world tree of Norse myth[7]) given to her by her adoptive mother after Orkney's destruction.[3]
For 3600 years, Aesc dispelled the Calamities that appear every 100 years, and the Great Calamities that appear every thousand.[8] After defeating one of them, Aesc would hide in a cave and rest in a coffin for 20 years.[9] She also fought alongside her retainers Ector the Immortal, Grímr the Wise, and the Knight of Beginnings, Totorot. Her legends have continued into the British Lostbelt's modern day.[citation needed]
Aesc was originally created by the Inner Sea of the Planet to force the Fairies of Britain to repent and complete their duty of forging the Holy Sword via Avalon Le Fae.[4] Aesc is a "Caster", the one who channels the voice of Paradise. Due to this, most fairies in Britain hate everything about her.[9] After being betrayed too many times during her various attempts to save Britain, Morgan decided to dominate Britain instead. In response to her failure, the planet created a new fairy, Artoria, to fulfill Morgan's old mission.[citation needed]
Appearance[]
Aesc's appearance as a NPC in the British Lostbelt is different from her appearance as a playable Servant. In the former, she was dressed exactly like Artoria Caster but with a few subtle differences:[7] she had a black bow with an embedded red gem lined with silver instead of a deep blue bow with a smaller embedded black gem with gold filigree, she had a larger black bow tied to the back of her hair, her hat had a smaller, simpler star-like symbol on its side, and her staff was much cruder and resembled a tree root or branch with a few implanted red jewels.
As a playable Servant, Aesc receives a new outfit entirely. She is now wearing white robes, and a white witch hat in her first ascension, while wearing glasses. Which in turn makes her look like Ayaka Sajyou. While, her second is a mixture of her original clothing, her NPC clothing, her clothing as Morgan, and Artoria Pendragon and Artoria Caster's clothing.
The reason her face looks exactly like Artoria is because fairies who have the same purpose are born with the same appearance.
Personality[]
Her First Ascension is the Rain Witch, when she lived in Orkney. She's a sheltered princess full of knowledge but ignorant of the reality of the world outside, having an avid thirst for knowledge, and a strong liking for things she's never seen before and that surpass her imagination. She has a cheerful confidence that her actions are righteous. Despite being aware of her mission, she was impressed by the kind hearts of the Rain Clan and grew into a tender-hearted woman. The young girl's favorite place was her secluded study. The gray sky visible from the window. The gentle sound of the raindrops. In this vast collection of books, she searched for an alternative solution to save the fae from their agonizing sin—not by ending Britain but by starting Britain anew. Like a child sitting on a desk reading fairy tales, she dreamed of the "ideal nation" inside that gloomy but warm study.[1]
Her Second Ascension is the Savior, from when she journeyed across Faerie Britain to save it. She always appeared before the weak and tormented fae and turned the tables. She was at her most invigorated when facing adversity, and was the very image of hope in the tormented's eyes when they saw her defeat a powerful opponent. While deep inside she was burning with fury and hatred over the destruction of Orkney, she did a splendid job as the savior by suppressing the negative emotions with her innate sense of fairness and justice and her unwavering character. Her personality is strict when she needs to be, and gentle when she needs to calm people down. She is the same Aesc that guided Mash, but slightly more aggressive than she was back then. Think of it as a middle ground between the Rain Witch and the Savior. She fervently swears her actions are righteous, and can never forgive betrayal from anyone, including her own heart.[1]
Her Third Ascension is her as an adult, Morgan, dressed in a swimsuit. She confidently believes she's still behaving as the usual Queen of Winter, same as always, but she's visibly more relaxed and in higher spirits. Despite the cold conduct, her girly side is showing more than her queenly side. She's not as strict as usual about manners and discipline, and responds to Master's and Baobhan Sith's blunders with a kind smile.[1]
Relationships[]
Aesc the Rain Witch[]
- Morgan
- "That's Morgan? The queen who ruled Faerie Britain for 2000 years. Aaah. Her clothes show off too much and her throne is awfully gaudy. What is her damage?"[10]
- Artoria Pendragon
- "Artoria Pendragon. The Proper Human History Knight of the Holy Sword and... the Proper Human History Morgan's archnemesis. I see. So an ideal king did exist, even if not for long.[10]
- Artoria Caster (Swimsuit)
- "About Artoria Caster? Right. I was a brainy fairy, so they must have tried a brawny type next. I see no other way to explain her unladylike mannerisms."[10]
- Oberon
- "Faerie King Oberon? I know him! He's the most famous Faerie King in Proper Human History. A little selfish, a little tyrannical, but a lot lovable. Is he in Chaldea? Do introduce me. I'd love to debate fairy tales with him."[10]
- Murasaki Shikibu
- "Chaldea's library is crazy. Time infinitely passes beyond my control. Shikibu has done so much for me. But I'd rather have her as an author writing a new work than as a librarian."[10]
- Circe
- "Circe's porridge is five stars. Any witch worth their salt needs to treat guests to a modest and incomprehensible treat like that. But I think she can improve on the part where they turn into pigs. I mean, why would you want to transform others into anything other than little birds?"[10]
Aesc the Savior[]
- Mash Kyrielight
- "That shield knight. Her name is Mash, is it? I'm grateful for the trust she has in me, don't get me wrong, but I wonder what those hints of sadness in her are about."[10]
- Arthur Pendragon
- "I just had a mock battle in the Simulator against the male Artoria Pendragon. Interesting how there are minor differences between two Excaliburs. Hmm? Your face is telling there was something else I should be surprised about. If he looked like someone I know? Not that I can think of."[10]
- Cait Cú Cerpriestess
- "D-did you see that faerie that looks like Cernunnos? Cait Cú Cerpriestess? Never heard this name. Pan-Human History has some really adora... I mean, unusual fae."[10]
- Habetrot
- "Wait, what? Was that Totorot? If it is, that's a weird Noble Phantasm for her to have. Her name is also slightly different... Eh, she's too cute for me to care."[10]
- Sétanta
- "Yay, finally the Grimr I know. Ok, time for one of our Magi-Matchs! You know, the Magi-Matchs? Where we see whose magecraft is more destructive. Magi-Match, go!"[10]
- Cú Chulainn (Caster) and Cú Chulainn (Lancer) / Cú Chulainn (Prototype) / Cú Chulainn Alter
- "Long time no see, Grímr, my teacher. I'm glad you're still the same, in all of your uncharacteristically tidied hair and your constant stream of snide commentary. Wait, what? Are you Grimr's brother? Actually, there's so many Grímrs here!"[10]

Abilities[]
Aesc is a Fairy of Paradise who washed up to Fairy Britain from the Inner Sea of the Planet.[3] Her original purpose was to forge The Holy Sword. However, she gave up after ringing the six Bells of Pilgrimage and unlocking her latent power because she realized that she would solve the British Singularity if she did.[17][4] Due to being an A-Rei, Aesc is equivalent to a Divided Spirit of the Earth's Soul and comparable to personified nature gods in scope.[11] For 3600 years, Aesc dispelled the Calamities that appear every hundred years, and the Great Calamities that appear every thousand.[8] During 800 BC, she fought and defeated Wryneck, and returned A-Rei who inherited the Organs of the Exhaust Heat of the Planet.[19] According to Totorot, Mab and her armies would have extinguished the other clans during the Summer War had it not been for Aesc and the Black Knight.[2][15] The Black Knight claims that while Aesc managed to buy them some time, there is nothing they could have done to stop Mab had she really wanted to wipe them all out.[2] Right before claiming victory, Mab's husband died. Aesc didn't let that opportunity pass and backed Mab into a corner while she was already writhing in pain and gave her the thrashing of her life.[15]
Combat[]
One of Aesc's trump cards was the Spear of Selection,[12][9] a Holy Spear that was washed up to Fairy Britain alongside her.[9] It was originally a weapon that could admonish any Fairy it touched and it can only be wielded by one without sin. However, during the last Calamity before 400 BC, the fairies behaved so badly that Aesc's feelings corrupted the Spear. While the Spear itself is still as strong as ever, its restraints were removed after its turn, causing its capability to recharge to become haywire. Basically, the Spear of Selection no longer uses its wielder's Magical Energy to power its attacks. Now, it does so by feeding on the life force, or rather, their youth. Due to this, she sealed it away inside Salisbury's cathedral.[9]
Aesc's second trump card is The Garden, a Bounded Field that can trap nightmares.[9]
During 400 BC, Aesc was in possession of a a staff that vaguely resembles the Staff of Selection. It could be used for various Magecrafts, however, it ended up transforming into a black Demonic Spear during the reoccurring wars.[20]
Magecraft[]
Aesc was self-taught in Magecraft but she later learned from Grimm the Wise.[15] Her knowledge of magecraft allowed her to figure out how the Fantasy Tree Seyfert worked prior to 400 BC.[3] Spells are like tales to her, she condenses the ideas of a book and reproduces them as phenomena,[21] which Alice Kuonji notes to be similar to her Ploys (an application of the First Magic).[22]
Aesc has displayed the following uses of Magecraft:
- Morgan's Throne: Morgan's throne is Aesc's the Savior's masterpiece,[18] the false Round Table she created after she completed her pilgrimage and chose to defy her duty.[16]
- Regeneration: Aesc has been tortured and killed in every way imaginable (i.e. imprisoned, crucified, beheaded, drowned, burned, etc), the only exception being poisoning.[8]
- Curse Removal: When Super Mash looked into Cernunnos' eyes, her entire body was covered with a horrific Curse. Aesc's Magecraft alone at the time wasn't strong enough to remove it, so she also used the Wing Clan's and Salisbury's cleansing power to dispel it.[9]
- Mind and Appearance Manipulation: Aesc used her Magecraft to erase the memories of a Fairy and make them look like herself, so that she can escape from an angry mob that was chasing her after Uther's assassination at the Coronation in Londinium. She did this by touching that Fairy's face and poured all of his Magical Energy into it, causing the Fairy's face and clothes to look uncannily similar to her own that the mob couldn't tell the difference.[3]
- Quantum Coffin: While Morgan is capable of Rayshifting things, Aesc wasn't. However, since the Fae Era is vaguely defined, she was able to preserve Super Mash in a Quantum Coffin through hibernation for 2400 years by having Mash encased in ice and fall into a deep sleep. Its Spell would only be lifted once her Master touched it in the modern day.[3]

Creation and Conception[]
Aesc was designed by Takashi Takeuchi in Fate/Grand Order.
Morgan's alias in the Fae Era, "Aesc" in the official English localization and "toneriko" (トネリコ?) in the original japanese text, both have the meaning of "ash tree" in Old English and Japanese respectively.
