Akechi MitsuhideWP (明智 光秀WP?), Class Name Caster (キャスター, Kyasutā?), is a Caster-class Servant appearing in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Identity[]
A samurai and general in the Sengoku periodWP. Mitsuhide served Oda Nobunaga until his infamous rebellion against her at the temple of Honnō-jiWP in Kyoto.
Appearance[]
When using his samurai armor, he removes his western clothes to use a kimono with the armor covering it, protected by a white and purple jinbaori. His armor features black colors with details in white.[1]
Personality[]
Akechi is, for the most part, cold and calculating. He is also rather deceptive, creating a Holy Grail War without any of its participants knowing its true purpose or his involvement. The mere thought of Nobunaga however causes him to go on insane rants about his love for her. His love is twisted though, as he betrayed her simply because she praised someone other than him. He refused to believe that she was the real Nobunaga, and in his madness sought his ideal version of her.
On multiple occasions he expresses extreme hatred and contempt for Toyotomi Hideyoshi, whom he and others refer to as “Monkey,” and is outright gleeful at rubbing in his face that he was able to aid Demon King Nobunaga in the Fourth GUDAGUDA event, while Hideyoshi was not.

GUDAGUDA: Legend of the Imperial Capital Grail[]
Akechi transformed Tokyo into a Singularity by placing fragments of a Holy Grail at certain coordinates on the leyline to act as anchors.[2][3] Seeking to create his ideal Nobunaga, he initiated a Holy Grail War where Masterless Servants competed for territories formed around the Grail fragments. However, all of Tokyo is Akechi's territory, and the Servants' mana is accumulated into the Grail everytime the war repeats. This is for the purpose of forging a Saint Graph of the highest purity. Seeking to create his ideal Nobunaga, Akechi used the Grail to forcefully summon Nobunaga to eventually serve as the catalyst.[4]
In his office as General Amami, Akechi receives a report on territory conflicts between Okita Souji, Li Shuwen, and Nobunaga. He then asks for a progress report on the Heroic Spirit army. The officer answers two platoons have been formally approved and posted within the imperial capital for the purposes of security and surveillance. orders him to continue the surveillance for the sake of the capital, then permits him to leave. After the officer leaves, Akechi laughs at himself maniacally that Nobunaga has returned.[5] Later, after Li Shuwen's territory is eradicated, Akechi learns Okada Izou was possibly responsible while injured. He decides to ignore Izou since he won't last long injured. He then leaves his office to make final preparations for Nobunaga's "feast".[6]
Without disclosing his true identity as Caster, Akechi sends an agreement of cooperation to Nobunaga through his assistant that calls for a ceasefire between them until the other Servants are eliminated. Once that is done, he will give the Grail to her. Nobunaga accepts his terms despite knowing he'll betray her.[6] Akechi later personally meets with her in her territory under the name of Nankōbō Tenkai. Surmising he is Caster, Nobunaga prepares to kill him when he removes his sunglasses. She instantly recognizes him and becomes confused at the situation when she becomes paralyzed. Akechi reveals the truth about his territory and declares how he waited for 300 years for the true Nobunaga's return. After his assistant takes Nobunaga away, Tenkai declares that with the Grail, Nobunaga's Saint Graph, and the Heroic Spirits in the city, it is time for his cause to manifest itself.[4]
At the Magus Facility's Grail chamber, Akechi is confronted by Ritsuka, Okita Alter, and Nobunaga (using Oda Nobukatsu as a temporary vessel). He reveals his True Name and declares the awakening of the true Nobunaga is near. Nobunaga demands he return her body. Akechi responds by ordering Heroic Spirit Soldiers to kill the group.[7] Okita Alter kills them, so Akechi orders more when Hijikata Toshizou, Sakamoto Ryoma, and Oryou arrive. AS Hijikata kills his soldiers, Akechi is stabbed through the back by Izou. Nobunaga uses this chance to take back her body. After seeing Nobunaga won't accept his vision of an ideal world, Akech decides to become the true Nobunaga. He then uses the Grail, its black mud pouring on him to transform him into Devil King of the Sixth Heaven. Hijikata and Izou ineffectively attacks when Nobunaga and Ryoma use Demon King of the Sixth Heaven and Like a Soaring Dragon together against him.[8] As both Noble Phantasms assail Akechi, Izou removes the Grail from his chest. Okita Alter then uses the Grail to transports herself, Ritsuka, and Akechi into infinity.[9]
There Okita Alter reveals she is a Counter Guardian. Akechi refuses to believe the Counter Force could interfere though since he turned Tokyo into a Singularity. Okita Alter asserts nothing exists before or beyond this place,so the same applies to him now. Akecih questions why no one, not even the World, accepts him. Okita Alter then fights him.[9] After he is defeated, Akechi realizes with Okita Alter's help that he sought atonement for killing Nobunaga in life. Accepting this as the truth, he returns to his regular self and disappears.[3]

Demon King of the Sixth Heaven[]
Demon King of the Sixth Heaven (第六天魔王, Dai Roku Tenmaō?) is a Black Giant, the fruit of Akechi Mitsuhide's plan to become the true Demon King of the Sixth Heaven by fusing with a tainted Holy Grail that had harvested the Saint Graphs of a multitude of pure Heroic Spirits. He is the final enemy of the Imperial Tokyo Singularity.[3][4]
Abilities[]
To gather the amount of Saint Graphs necessary to complete this transformation, Akechi Mitsuhide spent years planning.[3] His solution was to create a Singularity in the Imperial Capital completely cut off from time and Human History.[9] There, he executed a great many of consecutive Holy Grail Wars so that the competing Servants would kill one another and he could collect their extremely pure Spirit Origins. Leonardo da Vinci describes the Singularity's design as a Magic Circuit used for Magecraft rituals rather than anything else. Similar to a Kodoku RitualWP, an old Eastern magecraft that involves filling a pot with venomous snakes or insects and having them kill each other. The mage then uses the fluids of the one creature that survived to cast a curse. Even if he was taking advantage of the Holy Grail's power to accomplish this, da Vinci states that the sheer planning, preparation, and time it would take to pull that off is insane. His plan was so outrageous that Sakamoto Ryouma and Okita Souji Alter ended up summoned there.[4] Akechi believed that summoning a Counter Guardian to stop him is impossible, as the Counter Force shouldn't be able to intervene in a place carved out of history.[4][9]
Since Tenkai is the ruler of the Imperial Capital, the entire land is his territory. He claims that compared to the power he had amassed, the fights between the other Servants had just been little scuffles and brawls. Due to this, he was able to easily knock out Oda Nobunaga. With her Saint Graph, along with the Souls of the countless Heroic Spirits that had died in the singularity, Mitsuhide can now have his wish granted.[4] The original intent was to create Akechi's ideal version of Nobunaga using Nobunaga herself as a Catalyst.[4] However after Nobunaga rejected his vision of an ideal world, Akechi decided to become his ideal Nobunaga by pouring the Holy Grail Mud onto himself to become this horrible monstrosity. He claims to be the god who will grant mankind salvation. He has filled the Holy Grail with the Saint Graphs of so many servants that Sakamoto Ryouma states he'll eventually become something on par with a Divine Spirit.[8]
Even the combined efforts of Okita Souji Alter, Oda Nobunaga, Sakamoto Ryouma, Oryou, Hijikata Toshizou, Okada Izou, and Oda Nobukatsu can't "hold a candle to him." No matter how much they attack him, their attacks don't work. Nobunaga claims that if she hadn't fought Sakamoto first, she could have wiped the floor with Mitsuhide. But she can only pull out her killer demon so many times. She asks if his dragon Noble Phantasm can do something, to which Oryou replies that she is extremely fatigued as well. Okita Alter says that if they do something about the Holy Grail in his chest, she can handle the rest. While Hijikata pins Mitsuhide down, Nobuga uses Demon King of the Sixth Heaven and Ryouma Like a Soaring Dragon.[8] Hijikata uses Shinsengumi and Izou attack him too. Although they successfully remove the Grail, the Black Giant doesn't vanish, and Mitsihide says that they are wasting their time. Due to being both Oda Nobunaga and a god, he says that their pathetic Noble Phantasms are useless against him. Okita Alter, however, absorbs the Holy Grail and teleports Mitsuhide into a blanc realm she calls infinity, changing into her final Ascension as well.[9] There, she defeats him on her own.[3]
