AndromedaWP (アンドロメダWP, Andoromeda?), Class Name Rider (ライダー, Raidā?), is a Rider-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Identity[]
A tomboy princess who prides herself on her swimming ability. The princess of the land of AethiopiaWP, which may or may not correspond to the modern-day country EthiopiaWP. She is described within Greek mythology as a young girl offered up in sacrifice to a sea monster to appease the wrath of the gods after her mother, CassiopeiaWP, boasted her beauty (or in some sources, her daughter's beauty) surpassed that of all the maidens of the sea (NereidesWP), consequently incurring not only their wrath, but also that of Poseidon.[1]
Their country was assailed by a flood and the sea monster Cetus, and an oracle told her father CepheusWP that "only by sacrificing Andromeda to Cetus might you be forgiven". Ultimately, he bound Andromeda to a rock by the seaside using chains, choosing to sacrifice his daughter to the monster.[1] Although she was terrified, Andromeda had planned on fighting Cetus herself like a hero, even if she didn't know how. And if she failed, she knew her parents would be spared because of her sacrifice.[2] Only then did Perseus (having just slain Medusa) arrive and saved Andromeda by turning the monster to stone with Medusa's head.[1]
Later on, Perseus was attacked by Andromeda's former fiancé, PhineusWP, but he overcame even this trial by using the head of Medusa, and then returned to his native land, with Andromeda as his wife.[1]
Appearance[]
Personality[]
A tomboy princess who's proud of her swimming skills.[1] She loved her parents, and loved the people of Aethiopia. Because of her parents' enraging Poseidon and endangering their people, she saw it as her duty to do something about it. Despite her fears she was willing to fight Cetus herself.[2]
She truly loved Perseus and their children, but every time Perseus would stare off into the distance with a weary or sorrowful expression, Andromeda would think about how she herself couldn't become a hero. It wasn't that she begrudged Perseus; just the opposite, she loved him with all her heart and was thankful he saved her, but she couldn't understand him because he was a hero and she was not. Andromeda's desire is to be a hero by Perseus' side and not just a sacrificial maiden, to show him what it's like and to ease his burdens, for his bitterness to fade when he's not alone but has another hero with him.[2]
She doesn't believe that she could face him with dignity if she gave up on her dream, and the next time they meet, she wants it to be as a new her: a hero.[2]
Relationships[]
- Heracles
- "Oh! You're the Heracles everyone talks about! I heard you're my great-grandson, huh? I'm so glad to meet you! How are you? (Heracles roars) Yeah, yeah! You sound full of energy! That's good!"[3]
- Medusa / Medusa (Saber) / Gorgon / Medusa (Child)
- "No, don't go looking at me like that...he killed you before he even met me. But you know, I don't think he exactly wanted to do it either. It's something he had to do, I guess... Sorry, I shouldn't have brought this up. Forget I said anything."[3]
- Caenis
- "Nooo waayyy! I know exactly what you mean! Poseidon can be such a prick! Who would've thought that not only the Nereides, but even Poseidon himself would get so upset? No, no, negative vibes aren't good for your health. Why don't we go for a nice swim to clear our minds, Caenis?"[3]
- Galatea
- "Galatea of Cyprus... For some reason, seeing her makes me feel good! She might always have a blank face, but she's someone who lives for romance. Those are the eyes of someone whose life revolves around LOVE! Hehehe, I wonder if you know what that's like, Master~?"[3]
- Sei Shounagon
- "Nagiko's totally amazing, isn't she? We might be similar in the way we take initiative and rush into things, but the stuff she says really carries the weight of an artist, don't you think? Huh? That's like comparing a liberal arts major and a sports jock? Ahaha! I don't really get it, but I guess you might be right! Yeah, it's more like, even though we're different types, we get along really well!"[3]
- Zenobia
- "Huh? The one over there is called Zenobia? No way, she's so fetch! You think she's busy? Is it okay if I talk to her? Don't you think we could totally have the best time talking about all the stuff we have in common, like chains!?"[3]

Personal Skills[]
- Daughter of Cassiopeia (A Rank): Andromeda was the daughter of queen Cassiopeia of Ethiopia (Aethiopia). Her whole tale has its origin in Cassiopeia boasting about her beauty (or according to one theory, her daughter's beauty) surpassing that of the sea nymphs (Nereides). Cassiopeia is now enshrined as a constellationWP, alongside her husband, King Cepheus, but the wrath of Poseidon, a friend of the Nereides, has yet to be stilled, and so Cassiopeia is never allowed to dive under the sea, and as a result is always visible in the night sky.[1]
- Sacrificial Maiden (A Rank):
- Oracle Chains Nereides (EX Rank): Andromeda was bound to a rock portruding from the sea by chains that were to be wrapped around her by an oracle. This was an offering to the Nereides, the sea goddesses angered by Cassiopeia's statement, and so the chains are fundamentally always connected to Andromeda's body. Although the appearance of them can be erased, they are essentially inescapable. It is something akin to a curse, an inevitable fate bestowed upon her by the wrath of the Nereides. While the whole thing refers to the "chains prepared by the oracle to make a sacrifice to appease the wrath of the Nereides", for some reason those around her have come to refer to it as the Nereides themselves. The chains are what bind her by fate to the rock, and conversely, it can be said that by pulling on the chains, one will always find the rock bound to the other end. In other words, her basic fighting style as a Servant is comprised of swinging the chain with the rock attached as a makeshift counterweight weapon.[1]
Noble Phantasm[]
Andromeda's Noble Phantasm is Aethiopia Cetus. By connecting the mythological facts that "a rock is bound to Andromeda by the oracle chains" and "Cetus became a rock", Andromeda is able to forcibly pull Cetus by the end of the chains, riding him in what would be a rushing Noble Phantasm.[1]
