The Wooden Halo, a Angelic Artifact.
Angelic Artifacts (天使の遺物, Tenshi no Ibutsu?) are mysterious objects related to exoanthropic "angels and Daemons" (人類外の「天使と悪魔」, Jinrui-gai no "tenshi to akuma"?) studied by the Clock Tower's Department of Lore.[1]
Characteristics[]
Angelic Artifacts are OOPartsWP, objects and substances not from Earth, described as "super-artifacts scattered around Earth since time immemorial, spoken of in no mythologies, and tinctured by unknown laws"; completely unrelated to the angels and demons commonly known in numerous human mythologies, these angels and Daemons are taboo existences that ascend beyond common knowledge, Human History and magecraft, and unrelated to both humanity, heroes and Legends. According to Goredolf Musik, the Angelic Artifacts studied by Department of Lore can drive someone insane with a single glance, and are theorized to vaporize the brain and turn it into a receiver for the entities who left them behind.[1] Fitting their inscrutable powers, Angelic Artifacts qualify as Threats to Humanity.[1]
The Wooden Halo studied by Daybit Sem Void's father was passed down by the Semitic peoplesWP for generations. When looking through it, all he could see was "nothingness". and after he was granted a lab to study it, no matter what he did to it, he couldn’t analyze or modify it, causing him to regard it as an unchanging gift from God. When it finally activated, it brimmed with malice towards civilization. It was later discovered by Daybit Sem Void that the circumstances necessary for its activation were “zero fatalities within a 20 km radius of the artifact in one full day”. Upon its activation, all magecraft within London and all surrounding academies associated with the Clock Tower froze for 5 minutes.[1]
At the same time, Daybit and his father, who were in its presence, were disassembled on an atomic level by the artifact and erased from existence, along with both of their names and their background from all people's memories and records in the world, becoming as if they never existed. All that remains is their burnt-out shadows on the floor as the only indication to their existence, unable to be removed no matter what methods were used. Brishisan notes that the shadows, although unmoving, are alive and will remain alive forever even after the universe has completely cooled.[2]
Daybit would reappear 0.2 seconds after the Wooden Halo's activation, but recognised that he was not the same Daybit as before who died, but one that was reassembled exactly the same as before using his atoms. Though his body and DNA to his personality and memories besides his name were all identical to before, he knew he was different and wasn't a part of the world. There was one defect he discovered that was he could only record five minutes of memory of every 24 hours; each day to him would only be 5 minutes worth of events. He also could now perceive the world around him on a cosmic scale, which eventually brought him to Chaldea and Marisbury Animusphere, who believed Daybit's heightened perception could create a precise model of the universe's shape more accurately than existing technology. Marisbury requested that he only needs the view to go to 13.8 billion light-years and not to go outside the universe, and did not need the contents of the universe but only its shape, though the shape was asked to be as elaborate as possible. All this suggests that the artifact made Daybit capable of viewing outside the universe as well as view much of the details of its contents.[2]
