| Parvati is a gentle goddess and is weak in regards to combat. However, that doesn't mean that she is weak at heart too. Her devotion towards her loved ones is far greater than any other god, and it is also very deep. If it is for the sake of her loved ones, she will burn her Divinity even at the cost of destroying her own body, turning it into power to fight. A flame for merely a moment, but it is something that can rival with that of the Goddess of Destruction, Kali, who is one facet of Shiva's wife.
It is also important to specially mention that Shiva's feelings towards her doesn't matter. Parvati may be ignored by her loved ones, but she carries a special trait of developing affection for them. That love is earnest, but, well... it's mythologically too heavy. Kama holds the meaning of love, but it also is the name of the god of love that Shiva burned to death. During his ascetic practice, Shiva had been ceaselessly ignoring Parvati, who had been sent to become Shiva’s wife. The exasperated gods then had sent Kama, disturbing Shiva’s meditation using Kama’s arrow, so that he would notice Parvati.[1][2] |
