AslaugWP (アスラウグ, Asuraugu?), Class Name Archer (アーチャー, Āchā?), is an Archer-class Servant summoned alongside Berserker Ragnar Lodbrok as the two Servants of Lemina Eltfromm Yggdmillennia in the Doubles Subcategory Holy Grail War of Fate:Lost Einherjar.
Profile[]
Identity[]
The last Valkyrie, the daughter of dragon-slayer Sigurd and Valkyrie Brynhildr. She long slept under the great harp of magical silver, and what awaited her upon her awakening was a world of men without gods: the Scandinavian peninsula of the ninth century. There she had a fateful encounter with Ragnar Lodbrok, young warrior of the vikings, the bold men who claim to serve the disappeared Norse gods and to be braves deserving of guidance to Valhalla.[1]
Aslaug never knew her parents. She was raised by HeimirWP, who was like a grandfather to her in place of her mother. Heimir told her stories of her parents' heroic deeds. Heimir kept her concealed inside a magical silver harp, within which she slept for thousands of years after Ragnarök and awoke in Norway in the 9th century. After Heimir passed she was adopted by an elderly couple and given the name Kráka. The couple said they had received gold and silver from Heimir to feed her, but they had her do days of domestic work with only a wolf she had befriended as her companion.[3]
One day, the great Viking leader Ragnar Lodbrok wanted to see her, but imposed a challenge in doing so: She was to come neither dressed nor undressed, neither fasting nor eating, and neither alone nor in company. Upon hearing the first condition, dressed but undressed, Aslaug became incredibly angry and decided to kill Ragnar. In response to his challenge Aslaug arrived dressed in clothing made from fish nets, chewing on an onion, and with only her wolf companion. Angry and embarrassed Aslaug attempted to kill Ragnar, but stayed her hand when Ragnar hastily apologized, admitting it was a test and by her conquering it he could now see how beautiful, smart, and courageous she was. After Aslaug calmed down, Ragnar proposed.[3]
Appearance[]
Aslaug is a young woman with short icy blue hair and azure blue eyes. She wears black and white armour with black boots. The mythril ornament Aslaug wears in her hair was given to her by her mother shortly after her birth.[3]
Personality[]
Aslaug is proud, short-tempered and a fierce warrior.[3] Despite her inexpressive face, she's a woman of impulsive emotion, the kind to always act before she thinks and regret it later. Terrifying when angered.[4] She can also be shy around strangers or when in a strange place.[5]
As a Servant she doesn't remember Ragnar Lodbrok, who was once her husband,[1] and insists that she doesn't know him.[6] She simply calls him by his class name, Berserker.[5]
Role[]
Fate:Lost Einherjar[]
9th Century[]
After Ragnar's proposal, Aslaug reveals her True Name, and is surprised that, instead of proposing anew, Ragnar properly apologizes again for the stunt he pulled with the challenge, which cools her anger. Aslaug floats back down and magically changes from her mystical armor back to her fishnet dress, which embarrasses the both of them. Before she can give an answer to the proposal, her stomach growls, and Ragnar offers her breakfast, taking her back to his camp. There, she is formally introduced to Bragi, who was the one who communicated Ragnar's challenge to her, and she in turns tell him Kráka isn't her real name. As she eats and the men talk, lightning suddenly strikes a tree near the camp. The voice of Odin is heard in everyone's minds, and he declares that Ragnar will be given three trials to see if he is worthy of marrying Odin's descendant.[7]
Lightning strikes again, this time hitting a tree, which is revealed to actually be a troll in slumber, who attacks the group. Ragnar charges the troll and quickly beheads it with his axe, but the troll's regeneration allows it to quickly heal and regrow its head. Aslaug tries to kill it as well by piercing its heart with magically infused arrows, to no avail, forcing the trio to flee.[7]
21st Century[]
Aslaug was the first Servant summoned, in an Archer container, by Lemina Eltfromm Yggdmillennia, followed by Ragnar Lodbrok in the Berserker Class. Taking advantage of Lemina's exhaustion from the double summoning, she used her Independent Action to escape their base at the Oslo Opera HouseWP and wander the city of Oslo out of curiosity.[5] She would eventually arrive at Akershus FortressWP, where Ragnar would find her after being dispatched by their Master to track her and bring her back.[3]
Abilities[]
She is accompanied by a wolf that she befriended after awakening in the 9th century. Like the other Valkyries, Aslaug can fly.[3]
Aslaug carries a mythril harp gifted to her by her mother Brynhildr which can transform into a variety of shapes, including her spear and bow. It is also capable of turning into a magical wing granting her the ability to fly at supersonic speed and reach as high as the stratosphere.[8]
She can use Age of Gods Rune Magecraft like her mother.[8]

Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Aslaug is designed by Shirow Miwa in Fate:Lost Einherjar. Miwa had previously worked for TYPE-MOON as the illustrator for Sigurd and Brynhildr in Fate/Grand Order, but he had also secretly designed other Norse characters including Aslaug as fan art on his own time, not as something TYPE-MOON asked him to do.[9] He eventually submitted the designs for approval after seeing how Columbus Lily had also started as fan art,[10] which led to the development of Fate:Lost Einherjar and the designs being canonized.[11]
