Baobhan SithWP (バーヴァン・シー, Bāvan Shī?), Class Name Archer (アーチャー, Āchā?), is an Archer-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Identity[]
Baobhan Sith's other True Name is Fairy Knight Tristan (妖精騎士トリスタン, Yōsei Kishi Torisutan?, localized as Tam Lin Tristan). A member of Faerie Britain's Knights of the Round Table. A Fairy Knight who assumed the name of the Saint Graph of Tristan who belongs to the Proper Human History's Knights of the Round Table. She receives favorable treatment as the "daughter" and successor of the ruler of Lostbelt Britain, Morgan. One of two fairies raised as witches in a Britain where magic is deemed unnecessary.[1]
Her name as a fairy is Baobhan Sith. A female fairy told of in Scottish legends. The word itself means "fairy woman". It is said she appears at night to drain people's lifeforce and kill them. She has a liking for blood and is weak to sunlight. Many fairies have both "benefit" and "harm", but the Baobhan Sith is an evil fairy that only does "harm". They say she looks like a beautiful human woman, but her feet hidden under her long skirt alone is that of a fairy folk with her heels being the "hooves of a deer".[1] 100 years before the arrival of Chaldea to the British Lostbelt she worked as a prostitute in Darlington.
She used to be a kind to other people, however, the Fae constantly abused her, that is until Morgan who was back then called Aesc, rescued her and adopted her as her daughter. Morgan then taught her how to be cruel to others, causing her to become the vile and dangerous Fairy Knight that Chaldea encountered in the present day. Where ever since then tried to please Morgan to no avail.
However due to her vile attitude many think she was not a perfect heir to Morgan, and thus committed more atrocities, to the point no one likes her. Which only got worst when Beryl arrives and started to teach her.
Appearance[]
Baobhan Sith is depicted an elegant character with a strong gothic aesthetic. She has long, flowing hair of a deep, vivid pink that cascades down her back and frames her face, with strands of black mixed in. Around her neck, she wears a choker that complements her outfit, and she has long, elegant gloves that reach past her elbows.
Her attire is a complex array of Victorian-inspired design mixed with fantasy elements. The main color theme is a rich crimson, complemented by black and white accents that add to the gothic vibe. She wears a corseted top with intricate detailing and over this a structured jacket flares out with sharp, wing-like coattails. The lower half of her dress consists of multiple layers of fabric that alternate between white underskirts and a dark overlayer, creating a voluminous effect. The skirts are adorned with lace, ribbons, and ruffles. Her stockings are a deep red with black lace-up details that run up the center, echoing the corset design of her top, and ending in high-heeled, platform boots with ornate, claw-like embellishments.
In her second ascension, she ditches all of that for a more revealing outfit. And by the third, she now wears a Red Riding Hood outfit.
Personality[]
Diplomatic and active. Her disposition is that of a ruler who speaks of her desires unabashedly and works the people around her hard to realize them. With her hedonism of living only for the moment, she's satisfied as long as she feels good in that current instant.
She prefers fun just like any fairy would, but the only "fun" thing she knows is the suffering voices of the disadvantaged and, as a result, she often gets carried away toying and trampling the weak, regardless of whether they are fairy or human. (Since she's never been loved and her "mother" Morgan has only ever praised her when she was "tormenting the weak", she's learned to enjoy it)
A young witch blending the image of an admirable young girl working hard to be loved by her mother with the haughtiness of a princess who sees the kingdom that will be hers once as a toy. Seeing good and pure deeds truly sickens her so she makes sure to thoroughly vilify them. Her reasoning is: "It's obviously because I find these boring".
Baobhan Sith wasn't interested in almost anything and her only hobby was committing vandalism, but Beryl's stories about the "civilization of the Proper Human History" put her in high spirits and she became obsessed with imitating Proper Human History.
"Wouldn't it be fun to hold a military tournament in a historic castle~? Of course, everyone other than first place would be killed as punishment☆"
In the process, she became completely captivated by the Proper Human History's "shoes (high heels)" and became a shoe collector. When it comes to shoes she is sincerely and genuinely diligent, dreaming of making shoes that are more stylish than any pair the craftsmen from the Proper Human History could come up with....In the bedroom of such a Baobhan Sith (princess), the bare feet of fairy folk cut off from their heels that she collected are enshrined like treasures.[1]
It is revealed in the second third of Avalon le Fae that Baobhan Sith had once been a very kind fairy who worked tirelessly to help others. However, just like her adoptive mother, the ungrateful Fae betrayed and savagely attacked her. Morgan found her after one such betrayal having had her limbs torn off, and adopted her as her child. Because Morgan recognized that Baobhan Sith would no longer be able to resurrect herself, she was raised to suppress her kindness under the pretense that she had earned the right to be selfish, hence her cruel, sadistic nature. However, beneath that is the mentality of a girl terrified of losing her adoptive mother's love, driven to near-madness by the malice of the fairies. At its worst, she descends into a state where she cannot even be called lucid, with her very sense of self growing unstable. Without fail, her obsessive need to attain her goals will lead her to harm herself unwittingly to the point that her limbs will be lost.
Relationships[]
- Morgan
- Oh my! Even Mother is here! This is the best~!! Huh? But that Mother, isn't she more cute than the one from Fairy Kingdom? Instead of a cat, she feels more at the level of a lion...[2]
- Her great, beloved mother. While Baobhan Sith holds most people in contempt, Morgan is the sole target of her adoration.[3]
- Morgan (Swimsuit)
- "─── D-D-D-Did you see?! Did you see, did you see, did you see?! Mother ─── No, Her Highness Morgan's divine appearance! Don't be so relaxed and take some pics someday maybe! I'll design the book cover! This gravure will be the sacred scriptures of the Nunnos faith!"[4]
- Barghest
- I like Barghest. The way she pretends to be a knight despite having an inclination to eat the ones she loves is so pitiful it's funny, isn't it?[2]
- Though she knows that Gawain is just acting like a good person, her knowledge of her true nature prevents Baobhan Sith from hating her. “Devouring someone you’ve come to like is something that really hurts. I get it, I really do. I mean, even though you get so infatuated with a slab of meat, you can only ever savour it once, after all! Hahaha, it’s so remarkably pathetic!”[3]
- UDK-Barghest
- "That Barghest, even here she's taking care of others. And what's with her being a maid? ...If it actually suits her. Well, whatever. Doesn't look like we the three knights will be together at the beach."[4]
- Melusine
- Melusine, huh...I am not interested in Melusine herself. After all, I am more fond of that relationship of hers that ended hoplessly. Sigh, won't that absolute worst piece of shit woman come to Chaldea as well?[2]
- Melusine (Swimsuit)
- "So Mélusine came with a sporty swimsuit. I'll be blunt, it's not bad. She's a real pretty girl when she's quiet. Well, doesn't look like she can read the mood even when she's wearing a swimsuit, so she won't be a rival for me."[4]
- Artoria Caster (Swimsuit)
- "Eeh... For a bumpkin faerie that suits you. I thought you'd wear something like a really innocent parka since you don't have the courage to show some skin. Dances and music are indispensable for festivals. You, come to the forest next time. I'll play with you."[4]
- Artoria Caster
- The world’s biggest eyesore. She wants to unleash Fetch Failnaught on her until her very form ceases to exist.[3]
- The Bumpkin Fairy she met in Gloucester
- A rare fairy that she could converse with without being plagued by headaches. The memory of that fairy's resigned gaze at the showcase, as if she was thinking to herself “I’d love to have it, but I know I’m not good enough,” somehow lingers within her.[3]
- Cnoc na Riabh
- An impertinent fairy clan that defies Morgan. However, Baobhan Sith is interested in their arcana. “She gets stronger the more slaves she owns? How delightful! ♡” She is unaware that it’s actually the opposite of what she thought.[3]
- Britomart
- A Fairy Knight from Pan-Human History that she came to know in Chaldea. Although Baobhan Sith typically despises goody two shoes and honours students, she does not hate Britomart. Perhaps it’s because unlike the fae of the Fairy Kingdom, she does not possess a fickle temperament swayed by current fads. “That red and white outfit shows some impeccable taste. I can’t say I like that she’s a Lancer, though.”[3]
- Elizabeth Báthory
- The young Blood Countess... She really pisses me off. Why does she have so many versions of herself? Someone normal would turn crazy. Or maybe she was crazy from the beginning?[2]
- Carmilla
- The adult Blood Countess... She's really an eyesore. Turning an iron maiden into a dress, that's not a common idea... Maybe I should try going the adult route...[2]
- Hessian Lobo
- "A wolf that subsists out of rage and revenge against humans... You're strong, Lobo... Rage isn't something that lasts too much. To preserve that appearance, how many memories did you throw to the fire...?"[4]
- Archetype: Earth
- "There are all sorts of blood-sucking monsters. I'm just a blood-sucking faerie... She's, how to say it, the type of monster that would destroy the world if she sucked some blood. Don't put us on the same level."[4]
- Chloe von Einzbern (Swimsuit)
- "That Chloe Servant, she's here, right? Can you introduce me to her? She's overflowing with a solid, sharp and lovely design. We have the same elements so we'll probably be on the same wavelength. Hm? She's the succubus. I'm a vampire."[4]
Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Fae Round Table Domain: Avalon le Fae[]
Baobhan Sith is despised by everyone in her kingdom for her vicious temper, homicidal tendencies, self-absorbed nature, and her infatuation with Beryl Gut due to their shared love of murder. Known as the most hated of the Fairy Knights of the Round Table. She's killed over 400,000 fairies by herself in her 100 years long career as a Fairy Knight.[5]
She is first seen crashing a meeting between Morgan and her subordinates. She first beheads Yttri the Royal Clerk for merely speaking her name, kills several Government officials (including Camelot's Minister of Justice) for fun by making them jump off a cliff against their will. This behavior enrages Woodwose, who criticizes Baobhan Sith before Morgan silences him.
Baobhan Sith joins Beryl Gut on the attack on Sheffield. They eventually make there way to the city throne room where they defeat and hold Boggart hostage while she tortures him. Baobhan uses a form of magecraft known as Fetch, which was taught to her by Beryl Gut. After deciding she likes it, she makes it her Noble Phantasm.[6]
Baobhan Sith is held hostage by Spriggan and several fairies, with her limbs torn off in way similar to her past deaths. She is used to get Morgan to surrender without a fight. After Morgan is killed by angry mob of Camelot's court fairies, a nearly dead Baobhan Sith is thrown into the Great Pit. But not before praying to Cernunnos, the sole entity Morgan fears.

Abilities[]
In combat, Baobhan Sith uses Failnaught as her primary weapon. Her shoes have blades on them that she uses for various devastating kick attacks, with her being able to even grow spikes from the heels to stab enemies. Plenty of her attacks specialize in gushing blood from people's wounds, or involve bathing in it, or spreading it around through a pieroette. While she does have Failnaught which she does attack with, it is merely part of her overall combat that otherwise relies on magic bullets, acrobatics and growing large spikes from her back.[7] She is capable of holding people up in the air with seemingly-invisible magical strings.[6]
Her Divine Patterns are dozens of times stronger than Artoria Caster's, but she's only practiced Magecraft in the comfort of her castle. When forced into an impromptu duel with Artoria Caster and no preparation, she loses because Artoria Caster had to rely on Magecraft for her whole life unlike the other fairies who can perform Mystics naturally, and thus is much more skilled than Baobhan Sith.[5]
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Magic Resistance (EX Rank): The Magic Resistance of Fairy Knight Tristan who never yields, regrets, or feels guilty when it comes to the way she does things displays an extraordinary strength.[1][3]
- Riding (A Rank): The Fairy Knight Tristan who does not ride something but spurs on the very land with her legs possesses the Riding skill.[1][3]
- Territory Creation (A Rank): Since she's also received education as a magician in the world of the fairies, she is proficient in the art of creating workshops too.[1][3]
- Fairy Knight (B Rank): The divine protection of one chosen to protect the fae folk. For fairies, it is a geass. Though it is a self-strengthening that specialises in anti-unit and anti-civilisation, it forbids attacks against other Fairy Knights. A Fairy Knight that kills another will self-destruct.[3]
Personal Skills[]
- Grimalkin (A Rank): A legacy of witches in England; a skill crowned with the name of a cat faerie. It is not a Fairy Knight trait, but one that she innately has, though she bears the name of a different faerie for some reason.[1][3] The characteristics of cats are interpreted in fairy style as ‘eliminating the sound of footsteps, lightening one’s weight and increasing one’s speed’. While Baobhan Sith’s usage is fairly effective, the original wielder of this arcana displays speeds capable of circling the Earth in a mere day.[3]
- Blessed Successor (EX Rank): Recognized as the daughter of Morgan, she also possesses the "royal authority of ruling". Like the knight who "admonished the King of Knights" in the Proper Human History, she possesses enough power to dominate space to state her opinions to Morgan. (Mana Ruling Circle)[1][3]
- Fairy Bloodsucking (A Rank): Her ability as a vampire. She absorbs the target’s HP and NP. Though it has since waned, the former Baobhan Sith loathed this arcana and would not use it in front of others. However, the Lord of Darlington forced her to abuse it out of amusement, resulting in the city’s transformation into a necropolis overflowing with corpses.[3]
Noble Phantasm[]
Baobhan Sith's Noble Phantasm is Fetch Failnaught. It is a Magecraft taught to her by Beryl Gut, and she used it to defeat Boggart, whose hide is as durable as Barghest's. Fairy Knight Galahad was able to break through these strings, and Beryl Gut states that Baobhan Sith is no match for her.[6] However it is detrimental to the the user, as it rots their soul with each use.
Forms and Alterante Versions[]
Swimsuit[]
Cait Cú Cerpriestess (ケット・クー・ミコケル, Ketto Kū Mikokeru?, localized as Kait Cú Cerpriestess[9]) is a version of Baobhan Sith created following her discovering a cowering Cernunnos suffering from a deep-seated grudge in the woods of the Luluhawa Singularity and gained a Pretender-class Summer Saint Graph after choosing to take on his Authority in an effort to help.[8]
Abilities[]
- Class Skills
- Magic Resistance (EX Rank)
- Riding (EX Rank): Baobhan Sith never had the need to "ride anything", but after becoming the priestess of an Enshrined Deity, she has acquired an extraordinary riding skill. Riding atop the head of the god towering above its surroundings, looking down on her opponents from high up in the sky while throwing insults their way, she really is the spitting image of a princess of evil.[8]
- Territory Creation (D Rank): Honestly, turns out she wasn't all that great at making workshops. All the techniques related to workshop construction she knew were taught to her by Morgan, and now that she's separated from her, this is how she wound up.[8]
- Fairy Knight (E/A Rank): Having become a "priestess of an enshrined deity", her rank as a Fairy Knight has dropped. While she understands it had to happen for her to be a priestess, she can't help but worry about her rank down. (Because Morgan wouldn't forgive her for it.) When this is pointed out to her, she gets genuinely angry, and if you keep pressing the matter, she won't know what to do anymore, and will break down crying. Please stop this Cernpriestess bullying! Since her third Saint Graph ascension is "someone who became a Fairy Knight of their own volition", that ascension alone has the rank change to A.[8]
- Personal Skills
- Priestunnos☆Cerpriestess (EX Rank): The magic words spoken by Cernpriestess; priestess of an enshrined god and magical girl. It's something that's meant to convey "anything you wish for will come true" and "you can have it however you want", and to those who don't know any better it may seem no different than the Lesser Grail which grants any wish. However...those magic words are usually followed by "let's work hard to make it come true ☆".[8]
- Scion of the Rain Clan (EX Rank): It is said that there was once a "library witch" in Orkney, and Baobhan Sith, who had gotten completely hooked on reading, accidentally took on that witch's way of being.[8]
- Priestunnos Hammer (C Rank): Even a gentle enshrined god gets angry when push comes to shove. Or actually, they don't get angry no matter what, so the priestess gets really angry instead! It is a retaliatory Magecraft which converts the pain suffered by the enshrined deity into destructive power. Normally it just buffs Noble Phantasm damage and generates stars, but if someone's received an attack in the last turn, it will boost their Noble Phantasm damage to even higher levels.[8]
- Priestess of the Enshrined Deity (A/B Rank): She's the spokesperson of an enshrined deity. With the blessing of this god, she grants those in her party of "chaotic" and "good" alignment divine grace. In the third Saint Graph ascension alone the rank changes to B.[8]
- Noble Phantasm
Cait Cú Cerpriestess' Noble Phantasm is Easter Failnaught. Easter is a festival that evokes the deities of panhuman history who fell asleep as civilization progressed and humans left the forests.
Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Baobhan Sith was designed by Mochizuki Kei in Fate/Grand Order. Her scenario writer is Kinoko Nasu in Fate/Grand Order.[3]
Comment from illustrator[]
"My favourite types of characters are those who meet tragic, forlorn fates, which is why I feel very thankful that I got to design Baobhan Sith, who fits perfectly within that archetype. The more desolate a character’s death is, the more stimulating their fleeting lives become. However, Baobhan Sith’s journey was far more sorrowful than I could have imagined, and I found myself deeply moved that someone was able to depict such an ephemeral tale when playing through it. She’s truly a beautiful character that’s very close to my heart." (Mochizuki Kei)[3]
