The Camelot Singularity is the Sixth Singularity (第六特異点?) of the seven visited during the Grand Order to solve the Human Order Incineration Incident in Fate/Grand Order. Located in the Holy Land, A.D. 1273, its Humanity Foundation Value was EX.
The events of Chaldea's visit to this Singularity are covered in the sixth chapter of Observer on Timeless Temple; Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot (神聖円卓領域 キャメロット, Shinsei Entaku Ryōiki?), alternatively The Shining Airgetlám (輝けるアガートラム, Kagayakeru Agātoramu?).
Setting[edit | edit source]
The Singularity was located in A.D. 1273, in the Holy Land around Jerusalem. The roots of the Singularity lie in several events. Firstly, someone who should have died midway through the Ninth Crusade was given a Holy Grail, and using its power, the expeditionary force reached the Holy Land, burning the lands and slaughtering the people living there. However, in their greed, they summoned Ozymandias who subsequently confiscated the Grail and set about building his kingdom there. Having lost the Grail, the expeditionary force lost ground and were eventually cornered by the people of the Holy Land. When they were cornered, a Servant identifying himself as Richard the Lionheart, but displaying different behavior and appearance, appeared and summoned his own crusaders. The crusaders subsequently captured the expeditionary force and occupied the Holy Land.
Secondly, Bedivere did not return Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake, Artoria Pendragon was unable to die when she was fated to after the Battle of Camlann, ending up becoming a wandering ghost. With Rhongomyniad still in hand, she eventually turned into a Divine Spirit, who would come to be known as the Lion King. The Lion King was aware of the incineration of humanity and planned to store a selection of human souls into Rhongomyniad to preserve humanity in some form. After arriving in the Singularity, the Lion King summoned the Knights of the Round Table (with the exceptions of Bedivere and Galahad) and told them of her plan. Aware that some of them wouldn't follow her, she gave them until sunset to decide where they stood. In the subsequent battle, the Knights who decided to follow the Lion King slaughtered their fellow knights who chose to stand against her. The Lion King then bestowed Gifts on the surviving knights, with the exception of Agravain.
The Knights of the Lion King exterminated the crusaders, with the expeditionary force being annihilated along with them. During the battle with the one claiming to be Richard the Lionheart, Gareth sacrificed herself to give the others an opportunity to kill him, unable to bear the guilt of killing her fellow knights any longer. Her brother Gawain was the one who struck them both down. Afterwards, the Lion King and her knights established the Holy City of Camelot in the Holy Land. This occurred about half a year before Chaldea's arrival.
History[edit | edit source]
Joined by Leonardo da Vinci, Ritsuka and Mash arrive in the era in a desert during a sandstorm. Da Vinci tries to calculate their current location when the group is attacked. They defeat the attackers, but a sphinx soon arrrive. After forcing it to retreat, they head west to a water source. During their journey, Ritsuka becomes fatigued from the highly dense mana in the atmosphere. Da Vinci gives them a mana-blocking mask for protection. However, the group turn back when Da Vinci noticed countless sphinxes roaming nearby. They fight some cloaked people upon seeing the bound woman they’re carrying. One of their masks breaks in the fight, revealing them to be Hassan of the Hundred Faces. Hundred Faces orders the others to retreat since their opponents are Servants. Her subordinate points out Da Vinci took the woman during the fight. Hundred Faces assumes the group works Ozymandias when a group of Medjed force her and the others to retreat. Da Vinci then unbinds the woman’s bound, who announces herself to be Nitocris upon waking up. She assumes the group kidnapped her and fights them. Despite her fatigue, she refuses to surrender, and summons a sphinx. A Servant named Lucius arrives to help, and slays the sphinx with Airgetlám. He then explains to Nitocris the truth of her kidnapping, having witnessed it himself. Realizing her error, Nitocris brings the group to Ramesseum Tentyris as a show of gratitude.
After Nitocris clears the sandstorm, Lucius departs from the group. Nitocris orders them to protect her until they reach the temple, as the sandstorm had prevented monsters from invading the desert. Da Vinci lies that she and the others are travelling performers, but Nitocris remains suspicious. Nitocris reveals Ozymandias summoned her, and he quickly rose to power after being summoned. Others oppose him though, such as Saracens in the mountains. Da Vinci mentions Jerusalem as another opponent, but Nitocris reveals Jerusalem was destroyed. Finding their lack of knowledge suspicious, Nitocris summons a sphinx to prove their innocence. After the weakened sphinx retreats, the group continue to the temple.
Arriving at the temple, Mash is still unable to contact Romani Archaman. Da Vinci attributes this to the ancient magical energy of the desert from the BC era. She deduces it as the reason they couldn’t rayshift to Jerusalem. She calls the desert a distortion invading the Singularity, and reveals there is another similar location. Inside the throne room, the group meet Ozymandias. He confesses his knowledge of Chaldea already repairing five Singularities so far. He reveals he possesses the Holy Grail, though he isn’t Solomon’s ally. He explains he seized it from the crusaders after being summoned into the era. He then orders Nitocris to summon efreets to attack the group. After the battle, Ozymandias calls the group an enemy since they seek his Grail. He reveals the era collapsed long before Chaldea arrived, as the Crusades never occurred. Da Vinci accuses him of being the distortion that caused the era’s collapse, but he corrects her that the Lion King was responsible for it. After a feast, Nitocris escorts the group back to the temple’s entrance. They then continue their journey, now in a vehicle Da Vinci built.
The group drive out of the desert into a charred wasteland. As they head for the Holy City, they learn the Lion King eradicated the crusaders. Romani suddenly contacts the group. He suspects the Lion King is Richard I, but Da Vinci reveals the crusaders were eliminated. The group later witness Hassan of Intoxicated Smoke's charges being massacred by Tristan after she comitted suicide in exchange for their freedom. After he leaves, the group fight Intoxicated Smoke’s vengeful spirit. They defeat her and comply with her request to bury her brethren. They then save refugees heading for the Holy City from bandits. A refugee tells them of a monthly ceremony held at the Holy City called the Holy Selection where they accept refugees. The group then head for the Holy City.
Reaching the Holy City by nightfall, the group see many refugees camped outside. After punishing a thief named Saruhan, the group don cloaks, and hide amongst the refugees. Night suddenly turns into a night, as a knight emerging from the main gate confesses it is a Gift given to him by the Lion King. The refugees identify him as Gawain, realizing the Holy Selection is about to begin. He also reveals the Holy City’s full name is Holy City of Camelot. The Lion King emerges on top of the main gate, and selects three virtuous souls among the refugees. She then orders Gawain to collect the selected, and he goes to execute the unselected. The group also realize the Lion King is Artoria Pendragon, though her Spirit Origin is far greater. As the group save the refugees, they’re confronted by Gawain. He recognizes as them as defenders of humanity and those prophesied to come and disrupt the Lion King’s plan. He overwhelms them until Lucius, who is actually Bedivere, helps them. They then escape with the refugees while Gawain is disoriented by Da Vinci’s flashbang.
While the group are guided to a mountain village, Romani suspects the Singularity was orginally supposed to be an endless crusade until the Lion King arrived. Bedivere reveals Merlin sent him to the era and told him of Chaldea’s mission. He also reveals Knights of the Round Table conquered the Holy Land and constructed Camelot when he arrived. He admits his Airgetlám is a replica provided by Merlin to compensate for his one arm, though it'll burn him with excessive use. Da Vinci deduces it can counter the Knights of the Rounds' Gifts, though at the risk of Bedivere's safety. The group are eventually confronted by Lancelot and his knights, who were sent to capture them. They fight them until Da Vinci converts her vehicle into a bomb and drives it into the knights, allowing the others to escape.
As they continue their journey, the group see the land has been scarred by the Lion King's Noble Phantasm. They eventually near the hidden eastern mountain village when Hassan of the Cursed Arm arrives, assuming they're intruders. He lets the refugees take shelter, but he attacks the group, as he is wary that they're allied with Camelot. He tries to continue fighting despite his injuries until Arash stops him. He is convinced to let the group into the village after Rushd tells him that they saved the refugees. While staying there, Mash learns the Heroic Spirit fused with her is a Knight of the Round. Cursed Arm explains the other villages, each protected by a Hassan, are gathering forces to fight the Lion King. He accepts the group as allies after fighting them with Arash. He then reveals two of the Hassans were killed by the Knights of the Round; Lancelot killed Hassan of the Trembling Pipe; Gawain killed Hassan of the Peeling Shadows. Learning of Intoxicated Smoke’s death, Cursed Arm is warned of an attack on the western village by Mordred.
Given it would take two days to travel to the western village, Arash launches himself and the others there. They ambush and kill several of Mordred’s knights when Mordred confronts them. She reveals her Gift, Rampage, allows her to launch her Noble Phantasm continuously until her soul burns out. Bedivere fights Mordred, while the others fight her knight. Enraged she is losing despite her Gift, Mordred removes her helmet as her armor rejects her Gift. She prepares to launch Clarent Blood Arthur, but Arash shoots her joints to stop her. Mordred then retreats since her unit was eliminated, saying she’ll fight the group in Camelot. The village is successfully protected, but Bedivere passes out from the strain.
As Bedivere rests, Ritsuka and Mash meet with the western village's leader, Hundred Faces. Cursed Arm asks them to help him and her to rescue another Hassan, who was captured by a Knight of the Round, from a nigh impregnable fortress. Hundred Faces tells them to prepare a hostage to exchange for the Hassan; Mash suggests Bedivere. Hundred Faces agrees, and the group depart while Arash stays to protect the village.
Along the way, the group rescue a Servant from monsters. She introduces herself as Xuanzang Sanzang, who was summoned in the Singularity about half a year ago. She reveals she lived in Camelot for two months as an honored guest, but she left to continue her journey. She then joins the group to rescue her disciple who also in the fort. Arriving at the fort, the group decide to break in before Agravain returns to torture the Hassan again for information. Hundred Faces uses Zabaniya: Delusional Illusion to distract the guards, while the others sneak into the dungeon.
Inside the dungeon, Mash finds a hidden passageway with cells; one holding Sanzang's disciple. After being broken out, he introduces himself as Tawara Touta. He shows the group to where the Hassan is kept. They find Hassan of Serenity chained to a wall of the torture chamber by Agravain’s Iron Punishment. Ritsuka undoes her chains since they have an adverse effect on Servants. Agravain soon arrives, and repeatedly sends knights towards the group. He eventually sends special knights modeled after the enraged Lancelot, but the group are able to kill them. Serenity activates Zabaniya: Delusional Poison Body, forcing Agravain to retreat. With the knights knocked out by the poison, the group escape the fort.
Returning to the village, the group realize they're seriously outmatched in terms of power and numbers. Their solders number 7000, while Camelot have 10,000 soldiers who each equal three Saracen soldiers. The Knights of the Round are greater than three Servants with their Gifts. Hundred Faces realizes they need more soldiers, and they need to kill the Knights of the Round. The group recognize they need someone to fight Gawain since their assault on Camelot will always fail as long as he's at the front gate. Serenity suggests going to the Shrine of Azrael to ask for the First Hassan, whose location she was tortured for. Cursed Arm agrees with the idea and tells the others to return to the eastern village. There he will show them the secrets of the Hassan sect.
As the group travel back to the eastern village, Hundred Faced parts ways with them to gather more troops. Two days later, they return to the village, and leave for the Shrine after resting some. They reach the Shrine after a day, and enter after defeating its ghost guardians. Hassan agrees to help against the Lion King, but he decides to punish the group for entering the Shrine. He'll forgive their transgression if they pass his trial. He then takes control of Serenity to fight the group as part of the trial, which they pass. Hassan agrees to aid against the Lion King once the group learned the truth of the Lion King, Ozymandias, and the Incineration of Humanity. He directs them to the Atlas Institute in the desert, as to where they can learn all these answers.
The group return to the eastern village, only to find it besieged by forces led by Tristan and Lancelot. Ritsuka, Mash, and Serenity fight off the attack, while the others take the villagers to safety. Arash defends the village's entrance, while the villagers are led to safety. However, his arrows are countered by Tristan, and he is severely wounded by Lancelot. Ritsuka, Mash, and Serenity eventually fight Tristan, and he easily overwhelms them. Bedivere arrives, but they're still overcome. Sanzang, Touta, and Cursed Arm then arrive to help. However, they all bear witness as the Lion King's spear, Rhongomyniad, destroys the western village. Tristan then leaves, warning Rhongomyniad will strike the eastern village in five minutes. While the others evacuate, Arash successfully counters Rhongomyniad with Stella.
The following day, the village holds a funeral for those lost, including Arash. Cursed Arm reveals Hundred Faces evacuated the majority of the western village before it was destroyed. He implores Ritsuka to head for the Atlas Institute before Camelot attacks the village again. In the meantime, he and the other Hassans will gather their forces for the assault on Camelot, and spread word of Ritsuka to the other Saracens. He agrees with Romani to rendezvous in the village for final confirmation on the assault once Ritsuka returns. Ritsuka, Mash, Bedivere, Sanzang, and Touta then leave for the desert.
Using a map given to them by an agent of Hundred Faces, the group search the desert for the Atlas Institute. They're soon met by Lancelot and his knights, who were sent to capture them. The group fight, but they retreat when Lancelot proves too strong. A giant illusion of Nitocris then manifests, distracting the knights enough for the group to escape. The knights give chase, only for both parties to run into a sphinx nest. After slaying the sphinxes, the group enter the Atlas Institute via a pitfall fall. There they are met by Sherlock Holmes.
Sherlock confesses he left the note about the truth of Servant summoning that Ritsuka and Mash found in London. He states he must solve a case requested by Charles Babbage before he can join Chaldea. He leads the group to the central area, while they destroy any activated defenses. At the center, the group find a still functioning Tri-Hermes. Sherlock reveals it still functions because the Institute is from the present era. He then accesses its records to discover what happened in the Fuyuki Holy Grail War of 2004, considering it an important factor to the truth of the Incineration of Humanity. Neither the course of the war nor its conclusion are known, only its victor, Marisbilly Animusphere, being recorded. Sherlock reveals Romani was Marisbilly’s assistant during that time before joining Chaldea to become head of the medical division. He finds it strange there are no records of Romani before then. He considers the possibility of him being connected to the Incineration of Humanity. He then reveals Chaldea could stabilize their summoning system with the Round Table as it was a place where heroes. He further reveals it is the core of Mash’s shield, and the Heroic Spirit fused with her is Galahad. He then uses Tri-Hermes’s remaining power to learn about Rhongomyniad. Its true form is the Tower at the Ends of the World, while the lance is a terminal to access its Authority. The Lion King plans to use it to create an ideal world by gathering virtuous souls. According Tri-Hermes’ calculations, Rhongomyniad can hold 500 souls. Sherlock reveals it is Camelot’s true form, where the selected are sealed away. They’re gathered as ideal examples of humanity’s virtue, and they will be sealed forever once Camelot returns to its true form. Upon the Tower’s completion, the Ends of the Worlds will consume the era. Said destruction has already begun, which is why the Singuarlity exists nowhere. With this information, the group rush back to the surface. Along the way, Sherlock ponders that Solomon incinerated humanity for a different goal. He theorizes Solomon chose 2016 to begin the incineration in part because his clairvoyance couldn’t see beyond it.
Returning to the surface, the group are confronted by Lancelot and his knights. He is eventually convinced by them to join their fight against the Lion King. He then escorts them for half a day to a secret refugee camp that serves as shelter for those unselected. The group also find Da Vinci alive there, as Lancelot had protected her back then. They also find Saruhan there, who Da Vinci had assist the refugees in fleeing from Camelot's front gate when Ritsuka and Mash visited it earlier. After Mash relays what they learned in the Institute, Da Vinci realizes the Lion King intends to create an isolated space for the purest of humanity to continue existing following the Incineration of Humanity. Lancelot reveals Artoria was already the Lion King when she summoned the Knights of the Round. Da Vinci reveals Artoria became so when she turned into a Divine Spirit by holding Rhongomyniad too long. Romani reveals the Lion King’s intention to create a world without humans would disrupt human history, even if Chaldea restores humanity. Lancelot suggests convincing Ozymandias to help when the group recognizes their forces aren't enough. Later, Ritsuka, Mash, Da Vinci Sanzang, Touta, Lancelot and his knights prepare to leave for the desert. On Da Vinci’s request, Bedivere goes to contact the Saracens. Lancelot orders the other knights to remain until Bedivere brings back word from the Saracens about their proposal to ally with Ozymandias. If the proposal is accepted, the knigths will move to the hidden valley near Camelot and stand by. Ritsuka’s group then depart for the desert in Da Vinci’s newly built vehicle, the Bastiyan.
Ritsuka, Mash, Da Vinci, and Sanzang ride in the Bastinyan while Touta and Lancelot and his troop follow on horseback. They eventually reach Ramesseum Tentyris. Da Vinci sends a messenger to Ozymandias, carrying a request for him to join him. In response, Ozymanidias sends out a group of sphinxies to test the group's strength. While Lancelot and his knights fight the sphinxes, the others enter the temple.
Inside the temple, the group are confronted by Nitocris. She fights them to see if they're worthy of an audience with Ozymandias. They defeat her, so she allows them to meet with Ozymandias. Inside the throne room, Ozymandias is convinced to test the group's strength and resolve to save the world. He pours some of his own blood into the Grail and drinks it to incarnate himself into Amon. However, he grants the name Amun-Ra onto Amon, temporarily turning him into a Divine Spirit. The group fight him, but the temple supplies him with infinite magical energy, instantly regenerating any wounds they inflict. They defeat him though thanks to Sanzang unleashing her full power. Returning to normal, Ozymandias fights the group again with Nitocris to prove their worth as allies. After being defeated, he gives the Grail to Mash, and agrees to lend his sphinxes for the assault on Camelot. When Mash mentions Hassan, Ozymandias reveals he waged war with the Saracens as he expanded his desert. However, while plotting his next move, he was decapitated by Hassan. But since it occurred in his temple, he didn’t die, and the wound was almost healed when the group first arrived.
Outside the temple, Lancelot tells Ozymandias to march his army to Camelot from the west four days from when the group arrives at the city at dawn. Ozymandias assures him that his army will arrive at the allotted time. He also sends his beast trainers with the group to further discuss the plan. Three days later, the group return to the eastern village. Serenity confirms they’ve gather 17, 000 followers. Hundred Faced says there are 2,000 people in Camelot secretly supporting their rebellion. The rebellion had difficulty growing at first, but it grew exponentially after Ritsuka and Mash saved the refugees from the Holy Punishment. Later, Cursed Arm reviews their strategy with Ritsuka. The group will join the forces positioned at the wasteland, then march towards Camelot. Lancelot offers to lead the army since he knows all the blind spots to avoid the patrol. However, there will be no blind spots once they reach Camelot’s territory. Cursed Arm continues they'll march onto Camelot during the night. The army will breakthrough the Lion King’s forces and force their way into the city. After they capture the city and its castle, Ritsuka’s group will kill the Lion King. With discussions over, Ritsuka, Mash, and Bedivere prove their resolve to the Hassans through combat. Afterwards, everyone takes time to rest.
In the wastelands near Camelot, the group review their strategy once more when Romani reports the city is prepared for them. Ritsuka, Mash, Da Vinci, and Bedivere will head for the main gates with the infantry. Lancelot will lead his unit while Sanzang and Touta travel together. Once Cursed Arm reaches the castle wall, he’ll thin out the archers placed there by Agravain. Ozymandias’ sphinxes will create a diversion on the west side of Camelot, which the allied forces will use as an opportunity to attack. Lancelot’s knights will advanced before Ritsuka’s group, though Lancelot suspects heavy losses before they even reach the front gate. He orders the allied forces to advance when a sandstorm created by Hassan suddenly appears from the north to envelop Camelot. With the storm making both sides’ archers useless, the allied forces advance onto Camelot as fast as possible.
As the allied forces fight through Camelot’s army, Gawain fights Hassan without access to his Gift. Meanwhile, the allied forces are being overwhelmed Camelot's forces, as they struggle to breakthrough to the city. Any ladders they mount to climb the wall are destroyed the instant they're mounted. The sphinxes attacking the main are also unable to even scratch because Camelot only allows access to those with righteous hearts. However, Sanzang uses Five Elements Mountain - Buddha Palm at full power to destroy the front gate at the cost of her life. Her sacrifice allows the allied forces to advance.
Ritsuka’s group finally enter Camelot. They soon near the castle when the Tower suddenly manifests around it. It has been fully activated, and the Ends of the World are now encroaching onto Camelot. Mordred then confronts the group and fights them. They kill her, but their way is still barred by the Tower. Suddenly though, Ozymandias and Nitocris direct all of Ramesseum Tentyris’s magical energy to attack the Tower. However, the attack is blocked by the magical walls surrounding Camelot, so Ozymandias uses his own Spirit Origin to accelerate the temple towards the city. After the walls are destroyed, Nitocris uses Anpu Neb Ta Djeser to block the Tower's counterattack. Ozymandias uses that chance to crash the temple into the Tower to destroy it. With Nitocris’ mirror broken and Ozymandias having used all of his energy, the two pharaohs disappear.
The group realize Ozymandias had destroyed the Tower. Romani however warns the era is still being destroyed, revealing what was destroyed was only Rhongomyniad's sheath. The group need to defeat the Lion King to stop the era's collapse. They near the castle when they're suddenly ambushed by Tristan. They fight him until the Hassans arrive to fight him instead. The group use this opportunity to advance into the castle. Serenity attempts to poison Tristan wih her Noble Phantasm, knowing he has a conceptual weakness to poison. However, it is ineffective due to his Gift, Reversal. After Tristan kills Hundred Faces and Serenity, Cursed Arm grabs him with Shaytan's arm. Shaytan begins to devour Tristan, so he uses Failnaught to free himself. However, Shaytan has already consumed half of his body.
Inside the castle, the group near the throne when they’re confronted by Gawain. He reveals Percival, Kay, Gaheris, Palamedes, King Pellinore, and Bors had revolted against the Lion King after being summoned instead of accepting her proposal. They were of course killed by those who accepted her proposal. Gawain fights the group; simultaneously, Lancelot fights Agravain. After killing Gawain, the group advance onto the throne room.
Inside the throne room, the group fight the Lion King, now referring to her now as Goddess Rhongomyniad. They struggle against her with her massive magical energy damaging Sheba, and her Authority bearing down on them. Goddess Rhongomyniad then launches Rhongomyniad at Mash when she activates Lord Camelot. During this time, it is revealed Goddess Rhongomyniad is an Artoria from a parallel world, the same one Bedievere is from. Bedivere is a regular human who survived for 15,000 years thanks to Excalibur, which Merlin disguised as Airgetlám. Airgetlám is also revealed to use Bedivere’s soul as fuel. Bedivere is partially responsible for Artoria’s transformation because he failed to return Excalibur to Vivian. This left Artoria unable to die, and with Rhongomyniad still in hand, she wandered the earth and eventually became a Divine Spirit. Bedivere then returns Excalibur to Goddess Rhongomyniad, thereby destroying Rhongomyniad at the cost of his life. With Rhongomyniad gone, the era’s collapse ceases, and Camelot begins to disappear. Goddess Rhongomyniad prepares to fight the group with Excalibur, but stops when they begin to disappear. She tells them that Solomon resides in a temple outside the proper flow of space and time. Only the seventh Grail can reveal its location, as it was the one Solomon sent into the past personally. The other six Grails were left behind to be found by mages descended from Solomon to manifest as Demon Gods when the time of their awakening arrives. The seventh Grail alone was sent into the past by Solomon, serving as the first step towards the Incineration of Humanity. Ritsuka, Mash, and Da Vinci then return to Chaldea with the Grail after being warned there is an evil greater than Solomon at the final Singularity.
