Castle of Separation Adra (剥離城アドラ?), also known as Castle Adra, is the Magical Workshop of the Ashborn family located in Western EnglandWP.[1]
Characteristics[]
The Castle of Separation was a two floor structure,[2] a giant grey castle with curving spires and warped ramparts in the middle of a forest.[3] It was built in somewhat of a C-shape, and seen from above it would look similar to a magatamaWP or a curled up fetus, with arm-like walls stretched out around it[2] and a tranquil lake expanding behind it.[4] From the ground level, the castle looked like it had an enormous, magnificent pair of wings, giving the impression of a deity or an angel without head or arms.[3] In fact, the entire castle looked like a giant who had its skin and muscle torn away, and had been turned inside out: its great leaning spire gave off the impression of a spine twisted in agony, the crumbling castle gate was a ribcage, the warped castle walls were arms embracing the earth, and the main building on the other side of the castle was a beating heart. The countless marble bricks were piled up in a way that seemed perfectly calculated to make people feel uneasy.[4] A rugged draw bridge led to the castle gate, behind which was some rose bushes and a simple, yet spacious and impeccably well-kept front garden. Made in the style of an English gardenWP—or maybe more appropriately, as if the owner had little interest in it, the natural scenery gave off the impression of being built to the bare minimum of appearances.[4]
Within the Castle, the lobby, the floors, the rooms, and even the furniture followed an angelic theme and are decorated with frescos and sculptures of angels. Rows upon rows of Angel statues that came in all different forms and materials, some wood, some iron, some even sculpted from what appeared to be crystal, depicting even the bizarre, four winged and four-faced CherubWPs, and the six-winged serpents known as SeraphWPs. In addition, stained glass depictions of bow-wielding cupids, paintings of sword-wielding Archangels, and frescos depicting DominionsWP bestowed with great authority adorned the space in abundance. Even the chandelier hanging from the ceiling bore the motif of an angel's wings and halo.[4] Dominating the center of the atrium exactly opposite to the lobby was the massive statue of Archangel Michael, no doubt taking influence from the statue of Michael in Mont-Saint-MichelWP, with in one hand a sword, and in the other a pair of scales. Those scales were to measure the sins of the dead, and the sword was to drive away Satan the serpent.[2]
At the end of descending stairs hidden behind a Bounded Field was Geryon Ashborn's private room. Compared to the other rooms in the Castle, it was much more cramped, a simple windowless room containing a bed, a desk, a silver pentagram and copper goblet. A variety of other small tools intended for use with magecraft lined the shelves, as well as a number of bladed and spiked torture devices lying around the room, all engraved with and modeled after angels. On the desk, the Castle's foundational formula was drawn, consisting of numerous magic circles with the names of fallen angels and members of the QliphothWP written around them.[5]
As Geryon Ashborn had brought many magi and harvested them for raw material, the land on which this castle was built had drank in the blood and souls of countless magi, creating numerous spirits, upon which the Concept of 'Angels' used by the Castle of Separation was bestowed, and they were then used to fuel the construction of the workshop.[6]
