Charlotte CordayWP (シャルロット・コルデーWP, Sharurotto Korudē?), Class Name Assassin (アサシン, Asashin?), is an Assassin-class Servant summoned by Odysseus in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order. She is also summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru.
Profile[]
Identity[]
Charlotte Corday was the woman who assassinated the prominent leader of the Jacobins, Jean-Paul MaratWP, during the French Revolution.
Her motives for assassinating Jean-Paul Marat are complicated. But if it were to be described in a few words, it would be "to save thousands of lives". Marat was someone who agitated the citizens and continued to cause bloodshed in the name of revolution and the very cause of France's chaotic upheaval.
Normally, such a reckless plan wouldn't have succeeded. But with a bit of luck and a measure of contempt, she fulfilled the assassination.
It was later investigated whether there were collaborators in her assassination planning, but it was concluded that there was almost no doubt that Charlotte Corday acted alone. She was executed by guillotine, the executioner being Charles-Henri Sanson himself. Sanson stayed with her for two hours, accompanying her from her cell to the execution site, and later praised her in his memoirs, saying she was brave until the end, showing neither fear nor anger.
Appearance[]
Due to her beautiful appearance, and her reputation for the skill to plan and execute an assassination on her own, she was praised as "The Angel of Assassination".
Personality[]
A cheerful, precocious, and active but humble girl. Her hobby is reading, and if nothing had happened she would have ended her life at a convent, and her name wouldn't have remained in history. However, due to the convent closing in the aftermath of the French Revolution, her fate changed.
Relationships[]
- Marie Antoinette
- "No, there is nothing I have to say to a noble person like her, the queen. She offered up her life to her country. And that was enough for her to do."[3]
- Marie Antoinette (Swimsuit)
- "Don't worry. After changing into my swimsuit, I haven't paid much mind to Her Majesty. I know, things between us are a bit complicated. But, while I'm here, I vowed to not have any spats with her....I will say though, us both being Casters does eat at me a bit..."[4]
- Charles-Henri Sanson
- "Ah! The way that gentleman sever heads! I'd like to thank you for what you did back then. Thanks to you, I did not suffer and my head just came right off! ...Huh? Why would make such a face...?"[3]
- A kind executioner. Corday feels well towards him, holding no particular bias against him. Still, she feels a bit bad at the expression on his face filled with guilt whenever he looks at her and so occasionally stops at just greeting him.[5]
- Those involved in the French Revolution
- She has complicated feelings about them. She holds especially complicated feelings towards Marie Antionette, even a bit astonished. Why, and how can she love France so? Perhaps the day will come when the two can speak about that.[5]
- Atlantis Argonauts Servants
- Though she may not have the memories, they are members she gets along with mysteriously well, occasionally getting together with them in the cafeteria. Being treated so crudely by Jason too, feels almost as if she has gained a bigger brother, which she rather likes.[5]
- Jason
- "Hm? Hmmmmmm? For some reason, whenever I see the gentleman named Jason, I'm compelled to take care of him..."[3]
- Anastasia & Viy (Swimsuit)
- "Anastasia-san. It's weird how we get along, despite her being nobility and me being a small-town girl. Is it because we have similar tastes...?"[4]
- Children Servants
- "Hello, good boys and girls! It's time for some real magic! Please, observe my top hat. Now from within, comes some doves...wait, huh...? W-What, what a shock! It's Mr. Angel! As you can see, no compartments in here...but where did my doves go then...?"[4]
Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Atlantis: Ancient Ocean of the Dreadnought Gods[]
Charlotte is summoned to act as a servant for the Odysseus native to the Lostbelt. He has her enhanced with the Zeus Klironomia, granting her additional combat skills. At some point, he dispatches her to infiltrate Fujimaru Ritsuka’s party, and assassinate them. However, after meeting with Fujimaru and being enchanted by their personality, she is conflicted, and retreats from their presence. After they learn of her true situation, they aid her in removing the Zeus Klironomia, before she receives the Athena Klironomia. The latter allows for the use of a free, additional skill, which Charlotte uses as Battle Continuation. She attempts to ambush Odysseus, but he was on guard after noticing her absence, and gravely injured her. Her newly-granted Battle Continuation allows her to fatally wound Odysseus in turn, but at the cost of losing all memory of Fujimaru. She slowly fades away after professing her love to them, even as she forgets doing so.
Abilities[]
Her weapon appears to be a bayonet modified as a knife. The mysterious living being(?) that accompanies her is called an "angel" by Charlotte, but it can't be determined if it's an angel or not. Or rather, it can't even be determined if it's a living being or not.
She has extremely low parameters, mostly E or D-Rank, as she was never a warrior, magus, or another person of great strength, merely a young woman remembered for murdering a single man. Despite this, she has B-Rank Luck, signifying how much good fortune figured into her success.
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Presence Concealment (C Rank): She is suitable for spying. Its effectiveness drops dramatically when preparing to attack, though this could be mitigated partially with her Angel of Assassination skill.
Personal Skills[]
- Angel of Assassination (A Rank): The namesake people have given her after her death, praising her for her looks and skillful planning in her assassination. She goes with the flow of luck and reduces the wariness of all people she meets or is around her.
- Determination of Steel (D Rank): A Skill granted from her disposition to assassinate based on her decision, despite having no connection to the revolution or assassinations. While nothing as severe as Dantès', she also possesses the Skills combined effects of "Valor" and "Calm and Collected", granting her resistance to mental interference as well as blocking off her sense of pain and boosting the damage she inflicts in melee combat while also keeping her composure no matter what circumstance she's in.
- Haphazard Planning (D+ Rank): A Skill named after the very assassination plan she created and executed on her own , a very thoughtless plan that was only successful due to the various circumstances of luck and other factors on her side that allowed her to achieve this. Though a D+ Rank skill, it can rise up to B Rank when combined with her Angel of Assassination skill.
- Divine Providence (Assassination) (C Rank): Upgrade from Haphazard Planning in Fate/Grand Order.
Noble Phantasm[]
Charlotte Corday's Noble Phantasm is Le Rêve Ensoleillé. Her charming disposition and innocent appearance put the target at ease, making evasion via Mind's Eye or Instinct difficult, before stabbing them in their moment of vulnerability.
Atlantic Lostbelt[]
Charlotte has Klironomia nanomachines, specifically Zeus Klironomia. Due to her Klironomia nanomachines, she is granted the ability to heal herself and increase her capabilities in combat, as well as a resistance to diseases. She is capable of transforming her body into metal and emitted electricity when her nanomachines went berserk. Charlotte gained an ability to not die by fatal injuries as long as her mission is accomplished from her Klironomia nanomachines. She also has an aura of bloodlust with Zeus Klironomia.
Her Zeus Klironomia allowed her to defeat Cerberus who was also modified by Klironomia.
Forms and Alternate Versions[]
Swimsuit[]
Abilities[]
Her Class is more-or-less Caster, but it seems she can’t do anything like a Caster. She’s changed from Assassin to Caster, but there’s very little difference from her Assassin form.[1]
Class Skills:
- Magic Show Field (EX Rank): A variant of the Territory Creation skill. Creates an environment suitable for magic tricks. Covering up for shoddy techniques. An enigmatic angel (provisional name) can usually compensate for her magical blunders.[1]
- Magic Goods Create (C+ Rank): A variant of the Item Construction skill. The greater the rank, the more items can be instantly produced for a magic trick. Corday is a Mage apprentice, so she can only produce simple magical tools.[1]
Personal Skills:
- Illusionist (Fake) (C+ Rank): A bewitching skill derived from true talent, rather than relying on Magecraft. In rare cases, it may be acquired as a (True) skill by people of extraordinary talent. The talent to make people see things that don’t exist, or feel things that aren’t there. Corday is an acquired Mage, her skills are distinctly inferior to other mage Heroic Spirits.[1]
- Haphazard Show Planning (A Rank): A show is forcibly held on the spot, but for some reason the audience goes wild. Some mistakes can be tolerated, and at the end the audience will be satisfied.[1]
- Angel of Stage Magic (EX Rank): An enigmatic angel (provisional name) that follows the magic trick. When you think about it, this angel is the most mysterious thing… and Corday thinks so too. It erases the audience’s wariness, broadens their tolerance of entertainment, and makes the place more exciting, but… The scary thing is that it doesn’t change during battle.[1]
Noble Phantasm:
Charlotte Corday's Noble Phantasm is La Féerie d'une Nuit. Noble Phantasm that simultaneously bewitches and attacks with a magic show. Usually, with her skill level, it should be at best D-rank in destructive power and E-rank in illusionary power, but the synergy between her skills and her enigmatic angel can make this a devastating attack.
Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Charlotte Corday was designed by Takao Aotsuki in Fate/Grand Order. Her scenario writer is Yuuichirou Higashide in Fate/Grand Order.[5] [6]
Comment from Illustrator[]
"If I remember correctly, ‘a normal and cute girl’ was the kind of instruction I received. I tried bringing out a kind of cliched cuteness that I’d always wanted to draw at some point. What do you think? A bit too much of a normal girl? Is that fine? I worried about that a lot. Personally, I like all of her ascensions." (Takao Aotsuki)[5]
