Claire (クレア, Kurea?) is a maid serving the Fargo family in Lord El-Melloi II Case Files.[1]
Profile[]
Background[]
Claire is the maid for the Fargo family, in charge of caring for the family mansion. El-Melloi II speculates that she was physically abused by Ernest Fargo, due to her use of long clothing and gloves, along with her fearful reaction to Alec almost striking her.[1]
Personality[]
As expected of a maid, Claire is quite dutiful. Because of the abuse she endured, she tends to flinch in anticipation of getting struck. She is particularly close to Mary, being physically affectionate with her.[1]
Role[]
Lord El-Melloi II Case Files[]
Claire greets and introduces herself to Lord El-Melloi II and Gray upon their arrival at the Fargo estate. She brings Mary Lil Fargo to where they are waiting, where they are soon joined by Fernando Li and Alec Fargo. She concurs with Fernando in regards to Alec's debt to Ernest, revealing Alec was arguing with him about it on the day of the incident. Alec moves to strike her, causing to flinch in fear, before he is stopped by Mary. Mary still reprimands her for speaking out, for which Claire apologizes. The group then move to the central hall so El-Melloi II can investigate the murder site.[1]
In private, El-Melloi II explains to Gray his speculation that Claire was physically abused by Ernest, believing her long clothing hides bruises based on her slow movement in response to Alec's threat. She is considered a potential murder suspect despite not being a magus, with her motive being revenge for Ernest's abuse.[1]
Claire later informs El-Melloi II of Alec's mutilated corpse in the study, suggesting she may have been the first to discover it. The group then return to the central hall, where El-Melloi II reveals that the peculiar placement of Ernest's body parts was because he had used the Heliocentric ModelWP, instead of the traditional Geocentric ModelWP, in a ritual. Once he unveils the container holding Ernest's soul, the monstrous ghost of Ernest manifests. El-Melloi II reveals Ernest planned to use the Seven Planets to become one with the inner cosmos of the mansion, a microcosm of the world, to attain immortality. The group bares witness to Gray fighting and destroying Ernest's ghost.[1]
Outside the mansion, Claire is present when Mary thanks El-Melloi for his help, and he reveals his deduction that she let her father perform the ritual knowing it would fail. After Mary bids him farewell, Claire holds hands with her as they watch him and Gray drive away, indicating a deeper relationship between the two women beyond mistress and maid.[1]
