Dark Maanna (黒・マアンナ, Kuro Maan'na?) is Space Shinkageryu's space fortress.[1]
Characteristics[]
Although Dark Maanna's exterior may be crafted with modern technology, it is a warship above all else. A warship made for the Primordial Goddess by a primordial Mystery. To destroy the ship, you need to cut through the Dragon's Heart jewel at the core of the ship. Something that is only possible with the legendary Holy Sword, whose last wielder was lost in the last great war. Calamity Jane is not even sure a Universe-class battleship would have enough power to destroy a Dragon Heart energy reactor, let alone her. It was Mysterious Heroine X with her Noble Phantasm who eventually destroyed it during the Saber Wars II. Although X had always been confident she would be able to destroy the Dragon's Heart she didn't know if she could destroy it completely, due to being a relic from an ancient civilization.[2]
Dark Maanna allows Space Shinkageryu to reach the Origin Universe, one of the zones declared off-limits by the interplanetary treaty. Entering a forbidden zone requires a tremendous amount of Artorium, so once Dark Maana warps inside, it no longer has enough fuel left for a return trip.[1] The battleship also had a warp function which allowed Ashtart to create a space-time distortion with which she could to teleport to other planets, at the cost of cheating the laws of the Shining Blue Galaxy momentarily.[3] This teleportation device allowed Ashtart to even travel between Parallel Worlds to kidnap Ritsuka Fujimaru in Chaldea. The margin of error was just X +0.00021, Y -0.00018.[1]
Dark Maanna Space Fortress is but a cover name. The fortress is in truth an artificial shrine designed to serve as an altar to reawaken Ashtart Origin. Its true name is "Ancient Shrine Bel Maanna (Imitation)" (とされた古代神殿ベル・マアンナ (イミテーション)?).[2] It is a recreation of the goddess's shrine, Bel Maanna, made using Servant technology. However, no matter how closely they duplicate the original, Professor Tokiomi states that a man-made shrine just doesn't have what it takes to become a goddess. Without a genuine goddess to serve as its base, it will never be anything more than an incredibly elaborate model.[4] When the Six Blades finally gathered both halves of the Primordial Goddess, Space Ishtar and Ashtart, along with Ritsuka Fujimaru, the Catalyst, Ashtart Origin started awakening in the Forbidden Zone.[2]
