DemeterWP (ΔHMHTHP) (デメテル, Dēmētēru?) is one of the Twelve Machine Gods appearing in the Atlantic Lostbelt in Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Background[]
Formally, the Interstellar Voyage Supply and Production Ship Demeter (星間航行物資生産艦デメテル, Seikan Kōkō Busshi Seisan-kan Demeteru?), she was in charge of the waste management and natural resource extraction of the planet. Within the world of the Lostbelt, there was a shift from the Proper Human History in 12,000 BC that ultimately led to the Age of Gods continuing into the modern day. After a conflict in the past with the Twelve Olympians, she, Zeus, Poseidon, Artemis, Aphrodite, and Hera were the only remaining gods.
Appearance[]
Demeter can comunicate through a humanoid terminal that acts as her Familiar. She carries around a large golden scythe with a curved sickle blade. Her true form is that of the Machine God Aletheia.
Personality[]
Prior to the Olympian Civil War, Demeter was caring and understanding of her fellow Olympians and humanity. She held a strong maternal love for her daughter, Persephone, holding her close to her heart. However, after she expressed her discontent with Zeus's plan, Zeus recalibrated her Divine Core, causing her to go mad and kill Persephone. She became more callous and indifferent towards humanity as she was forced to live on and serve Zeus.[2]
Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Olympus: Interstellar Mountain City[]
Demeter calms down Aphrodite when she becomes angered by Ashiya Douman's rantings about the Alien God's descent and warns what he did to the India could easily happen to Olympus. After Zeus' speech about his cooperation with Kirschtaria Wodime, the goddesses ask him how he can consider Kirschtaria a sworn friend. He answers he recognizes Kirschataria as an exception among humans.[3] Later, the goddesses appear alongside Dioscuri and Europa when Ritsuka’s party flees from Talos. They’re stunned however by Minerva, thus allowing the group to escape.[4]
Back at Olympus, Demeter assures Europa that Zeus won't be too tough on her for failing to kill Ritsuka's party since, despite being fused with Hera, she is only a demigod at most. She tells her she should be friends with her daughter, Persephone. Europa tries to tell her something about Persephone when Demeter corrects herself to mean her daughter's Servant self. She then declares herself to be the mother of all living beings since she is an earth goddess. Scandinavia Peperoncino points out that was Gaia's role. Demeter confirms what he said, calling it divine providence since Gaia is her mother. She also points out the ocean should be considered a mother in that case as well.[5] Later in the garden, she talks with Kirschtaria, having not seen him since he defeated Dioscuri. She's a bit scared of him, though, considering that he could potentially destroy even her true form. Nevertheless, she thinks of him as one of her beloved children. Kirschtaria responds frankly that love should be direct towards other people, as he does not need it. Demeter explains she loves all her children, even humanity, including him. Kirschtaria responds that Zeus' endless Age of Gods would benefit her less than his wish would, leaving Demeter confused..[6]
Zeus later orders her to use her true form to destroy Chaldea in the city. Demeter appears over the city in her true form, asking its citizens for forgiveness, as she will now kill them all at once. She then releases a shockwave that leaves the city district in ruins. She proceeds to the same thing to the southern district, as its citizens pray to her to no avail. The group tries to lead her south, where the Godbreaker Alliance's cannon is positioned when she suddenly heads east. They then fight her directly to lead her to the cannon's new position.[7] Demeter suddenly recalls Persephone, releasing a shockwave that seems different from the others. Caenis then arrives and attacks her with Lapithai Caeneus, allowing the group to topple her within the cannon's range. The blast penetrates her armor, but it fails to reveal her core. Ritsuka's party attacks her, eventually exposing her Divine Core for Mash to shoot with Black Barrel. After she is shot, the Priestess of the Alien God appears before Demeter, who mistakes her for Persephone, and asks if she has any last regrets. Demeter says she only has one regret and asks for everyone to find peace before her functions finally cease.[8]
Abilities[]
As the Interstellar Voyage Supply and Production ship, Demeter was tasked with supplying the Olympus Interstellar Fleet with supplies they need, and on Earth, she provides people with infinite resources.[7] Demeter is not only a direct descendant of Gaia,[8] one of the original prototype ships,[7] but she is said to be the god who inherited the most from her.[6][7] This makes her the mechanical goddess of the land and harvest.[5][6][7] Not only is her armor extremely durable, but it regenerates as well. Adele states that between her infinite regenerating defense and massively destructive attacks, she's a very powerful opponent. Macarios states that normal Heroic Spirits such as Miyamoto Musashi and Mash Kyrielight can't hold and candle to Demeter and the other gods, so he gives them Ares and Athena Klironomia respectively to power up their Saint Graphs before facing Demeter. Although Musashi happily accepts the extra aid, she says she is sure there are also regular Heroic Spirits capable of cutting down gods.[7] Demeter regards Kirschtaria Wodime as a dreadful human capable of killing Machine Gods such as her single-handedly.[6] Demeter's Life Scale when measured by Mash's Black Barrel is 4500.[8]
While Demeter's power does consume a fair amount of Magical Energy, she rarely has to worry about running out thank to the connection she, along with all the other gods, have to the god-made Ley Line in Olympus's crystal mountain range.[7]
Demeter's Saint Graph Designation is Caster.
Combat[]
Because Demeter relies exclusively on her overwhelmingly powerful abilities in combat, she has no understanding of stategy or tactics as applied to battle.[7]
Caenis was able to attack Demeter with Lapithai Caeneus. Although it shook her massive core, it wasn't enough to bring her down, only to make her lurch. Macarios's and Adele's Seven Link Heroic Spirit Cannon successfully cracked open her armor, but it still wasn't capable of exposing her Divine Core. Miyamoto Musashi, Caenis, Mash Kyrielight, and Sherlock Holmes kept attacking her and successfully managed to get her outer shell off. With her outer core severely damaged, her Divine Core was finally exposed. Before Demeter could regenerate, Mash used the Black Barrel, punching through her Divine Core and killing her in the process.[8]
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- One Who Crosses the Sea of Stars (— Rank)
Personal Skills[]
- Authority of Earth (A++ Rank): Demeter possesses Authority over the harvest, in other words, production and regeneration. Theoretically, she can regenerate from any amount of damage, making it impossible to completely destroy her. She saves Humanity by giving them ambrosia fruits which carry her Klironomia and grant Immortality via instant regeneration. It is even capable of completely restoring the physical body of any human that has been destroyed by her scream.[7] Zeus states that if he used the true strength of his thunderbolts, they would demolish the Olympus city and obliterate the populace. If that were to happen, not even Demeter's regenerative gifts would be able to bring them back.[7] Because Poseidon was the same kind of ship god as Demeter, and he used to be as much a god of land as Gaia was, Caenis can easily neutralize Demeter's blessing and kill the Olympian Soldiers in one strike. However, when used against Demeter herself, they aren't capable of completely nullifying her regeneration, but just slow it down instead.[8]
- Authority of Mother (母の権能?) (B Rank)
- Mourning Mother (嘆きの母?) (EX Rank): Due to Zeus warping her Divine Core to subdue her and make her kill Persephone, Demeter became mad.[2] Aphrodite regards "Love" as Demeter's fatal weakness.[9]
Noble Phantasm[]
Demeter's Noble Phantasm is Scream Eleusis, a scream derived from Demeter's Authority that breaks down old and dead organic matter into reusable resources. It is powerful enough to destroy massive expanses of land or entire city districts in an instant. She used it to kill Nikola Tesla's group, which was formed by Tesla, Thomas Edison, and Helena Blavatsky. Mash Kyrielight buffed by Athena Klironomia is able to withstand her large-scale Magical Energy emanation once. Her and Sherlock Holmes conclude that taking into account the Ortinax's Auto-Maintenance, she'd only be capable of blocking it two more times.[7]
Other Capabilities[]
- Terminal: Demeter can create a humanoid terminal to act as her Familiar. Mash Kyrielight states that her Magical Energy is overwhelming. When first meeting her, Mash is immediately able to estimate that she must be a god from the Atlantic Lostbelt.[4]
