The Department of Botany, Yumina (植物科, Shokubutsu-ka?) is the seventh (VII) Department of the Clock Tower branch of the Mage's Association.
History[]
The Department's name, Yumina, comes from the name of its founder,[1] Yumina, a Witch and the Magician of the First Magic.[2][3] It was established by Witches.[2]
As of modern day, it is under Archelot jurisdiction,[1] Lord Archelot acting as its Lord as of the early 2000s.[4]
Characteristics[]
The Department of Botany is known as the Department for Witchcraft,[5] and pharmaceuticals.[6] Anti-aging medicine is in high demand and so is a significant source of income for Botany.[7]
The Archelot family helped Henry Jekyll develop his infamous drug for twenty thousand pounds,[8] and Da Vinci worked with the Department to develop a mass-producible, needleless injectable version of the healing scroll.[9]

Nasu: Likely Botany and Curses. He probably reached the Einzbern as part of the research to reach the Root, and thought he could prove the existence of Ghost Liners which are a permanent and not temporary way for a soul to be.
Takeuchi: So Heroic Spirit summons are all thanks to Einzbern?
Nasu: Heroic Spirit summons in itself is Magecraft from the Clock Tower. Einzbern are descendants of alchemists that succeeded just once in the "materialization of a soul". So it all stems from the hypothesis that if you have the Einzbern system (Holy Grail) you can summon a Heroic Spirit which was previously thought to be impossible.
