The Department of Creation, Valuay (創造科(バリュエ), Sōzō-ka(Baryue)?) is the ninth (IX) Department of the Clock Tower branch of the Mage's Association.

History[]

The Department's name, Valuay, comes from the name of its founder. As of modern day, it is under Valualeta jurisdiction, Inorai Valualeta Atroholm acting as its Lord as of the early 2000s.[1][2]

Due to their view of artistry, they align with the Democratic Faction rather than the Aristocratic Faction as it would seem to outsiders based on the common aristocratic-minded viewpoint that "true art is that which survives the test of time."[2]

Characteristics[]

The primary focus of the Department is artistry, the majority of magi within considering themselves to be artists. Taking a variety of pursuits in their magecraft, the Iselma family in particular focuses on the "creation of the most beautiful person."[3] The personal opinion of Lord Valualeta on the nature of the Department's art is that it is "something to shake the hearts of the people of a given age." Not aligning with the idea of aristocracy and history, they focus on the current impact of the art, even if its value is momentary.[2]

Though on a surface level some aspects of the Department may seem to overlap with the Department of Modern Magecraft Theory, they are fundamentally different in that Modern Magecraft Theory will accept the usage of modern technology while Creation focuses on traditional magecraft.[2]

The Departments of Creation and Zoology often present research about partially organic dolls, like the Mystic Castles of Van-Fem.[4]
