DurandalWP: The Peerless Sword (絶世の名剣, Zessei no Meiken?), also known as Durandal: Ultimate Unbroken Hallow (不毀の極聖, Fuki no Gokushō?), is the holy sword favored by Roland and one of the many Noble Phantasms stored in Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon.
Originally the sword of Hector, he converted it into the spear Durindana, and after it later lost its features as a spear, it became Durandal. It was then later said to have been granted to King Charlemagne of the Frankish Empire by an angel before being awarded to Roland. It is noted as the symbol of the Battle of Roncevaux PassWP told of in the Song of RolandWP. Although Roland attempted to break the sword when he was on the verge of death to keep it from falling into the hands of the enemy, it proved to be impossible; it was later prominently featured in Charlemagne's legends, acting as a symbol of Roland's bravery. Mandricardo briefly wielded it after Roland discarded it.
The sword is a splendidly forged "symbol of power" much like King Arthur's Caliburn, and it is said to hold three miracles within it. It will not lose its sharpness even should its user's magical energy be depleted, proving indestructible even when Roland tried to destroy it.
It is said to be unbreakable and invincible, and is often compared to Excalibur as an immortal and indestructible holy sword. The golden pommel contains many rare relics that did not exist in the Hector’s time, and due to their influence, it is extremely effective as a conceptual weapon. It can also perform miracles as a hidden effect. If it is possible, it can grant most things as a phenomenon. However, the cost is extremely high.
In Roland's possession it has a red gemstone in its pommel, while as part of Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon the gemstone is white.
Rêve de Durandal
« I hereby forego my Noble Phantasm, Serment de Durendal, in accordance with my oath.
Rêve de Durandal: Peerless Sword of Dreams (絶世の儚剣, Zessei no Bō-ken?) is the Noble Phantasm of Mandricardo. An Anti-Unit Noble Phantasm that becomes possible to activate upon release of the Oath of Durandal, it is only usable when Mandricardo is finally able to obtain Durandal.
"Once again, I hold in my hands the sword with no rival, Durandal."
In a typical Holy Grail War, for this Noble Phantasm to be activated, he must have full confidence in himself that he is truly able to wield Durandal. As even the information for this Noble Phantasm has been sealed away, even Master cannot comprehend what it is.
During the Fifth Lostbelt, only after having received Durindana (Durandal) from Hector and holding the feeling of wanting to save a dear friend made during his travels, does this Noble Phantasm become possible to activate. In what was a miracle, he successfully blocked the arrow of Artemis and perished.

In the Trojan War, Hector was the supreme hero of the Trojan side.
In face of overwhelming difference of soldiers, he maintained the siege by all means. Some even regard that, if it wasn't by Achilles, the war could have ended with the victory of the Trojans.
Level 1 Bond
Source: Trojan War
Alignment: Lawful Neutral Gender: Male
A superior general, who excels in everything.
Level 2 Bond
Admired as "Hector of the Gleaming Helmet", he is the hero of the Trojan side. In order to challenge the Achaeans, who boasted an overwhelming military force, he took over for his aged father, the king, and consolidated the army.
Level 3 Bond
Hector was the strongest warrior of the Trojan army as well as its high-commander, and on top of that even a politician. He easily betrayed the expectations of the gods and cornered the Achaean army to the brink of retreat for a time.
The Noble Phantasm he uses is Durindana - Unscratched Apogeic Spear. Hector extended the handle of this sword, preferring tactics of throwing it as a spear. Said spear was extolled as piercing through anything in the world. Later, it would lose its features as a spear and become the peerless sword Durandal.
Level 4 Bond
However, the progress was gradually upset by the hero Achilles.
Although Hector held out by at times running away, at times fighting - all while repeatedly making provocations - when Achilles abandoned his immortality with the power of his spear and called out for a one-on-one duel, Hector ended up accepting it.
Level 5 Bond
After his defeat to Achilles, who was still the strongest even after losing his immortality, the Trojan side began to rapidly collapse. If he was there, they might have won without being deceived by the Trojan Horse.
He calls himself an "old man", attending to things with an slacken mood from beginning to end. One might misunderstand him as lacking on seriousness, but he is always serious. Is just that, he avoids to let such emotion called serious show in his face to the best of his abilities. After all, he was also a politician.
