The El-Melloi (エルメロイ, Erumeroi?) family is a Magus lineage in England. They are a Lord family of the Clock Tower and part of the Aristocratic Faction. They currently run the Department of Modern Magecraft Theory, and formerly ran the Department of Mineralogy.

Called the El-Melloi Faction (エルメロイ派, Erumeroi-ha?), the family is composed of a number of branch families. It is one of the Lord families of the Clock Tower, and Lordship is conferred to the branch family that obtains the Source Crest.
Prior to Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald as Lord El-Melloi, the Archibald family was one of several powerful families within the faction. Kayneth, regarded as a prodigy, was the one to receive the Source Crest over all others.[1]
The El-Melloi family's Supreme Mystic Code is Volumen Hydragyrum, which was created by Kayneth. However prior to Kayneth's term as Lord, the El-Melloi Supreme Mystic Code was a set of three Magical Energy Reactors.[2][3]
During Kayneth's tenure as Lord, they were ranked fourth amongst the Lord families. After his death, they fell to twelfth.[4]
History[]
The El-Melloi rose to power several centuries ago, after the head of the family at the time mined magical resources in the Spiritual Tomb of Albion. He gathered enough resources to create an inexhaustible supply of Magical Energy in the form of three reactors, the El-Melloi Supreme Mystic Code.[2][3]
With the death of Kayneth in the Fourth Fuyuki Holy Grail War, there was a conflict on the succession of the El-Melloi faction as it fell into a state of great internal discord. Thus assets such as talents, lands, and Mystic Codes, that were all amassed under the name of El-Melloi and had been passed down since antiquity, were all stolen away by rivals and branch families of the Archibald lineage. As a result, the only things left over for the main family were the title of El-Melloi, and a debt of astronomical proportions. Reines was selected as the head of the El-Melloi faction. As a result, just as described in the story, Reines became the successor after it was determined she happened to have the best affinity for the Source Crest. At that time, in order to put a rest to the strife between the Archisorte and Archibald families and demonstrate her right to succession, she accepted adoption into Kayneth's family. Though, as a continued act of defiance, she still operates under the name Archisorte.
