Sion Eltnam Atlasia, a member of the fallen noble Eltnam family.

The Eltnam (ルトナム, Erutonamu?) family is a house of alchemist that are part of Atlas Academy, being one of the Six Sources of Atlas equivalent to the Lords of the Clock Tower.

Characteristics[]

Within the multiple settings of TYPE-MOON, the Eltnam have different paths and are involved with a variety of individuals and events.

Tsukihime Worlds[]

Melty Blood[]

In the original continuity of Tsukihime, the Eltnam are a fallen noble house, whose cause of ruin came when the head of three generations ago, Zepia Eltnam Oberon, fell into madness and broke the rules of the Atlas Temple, becoming the 13th of The Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors, Night of Wallachia, 500 years ago. Zepia's descendant, Sion Eltnam Sokaris, grew up isolated due to the reputation of her family as a disgraced noble house, however she was a genius scientist and she excelled within Atlas. She is given a position equal to the representative of Atlas at an extremely young age, eight years before Melty Blood,[1] this event gave her the name of Atlasia, allowed to be used only by those who were the head of Atlas.

Three years before Melty Blood, the Holy Church organization learned that the next appearance of Night of Wallachia took place in a small mountain village in Italy. The Church petitioned Atlas for help with a Vampire hunt due to their connection to Wallachia rather than the Prague Alchemists, the angst-filled Sion volunteered her services. Sion and Riesbyfe Stridberg took part in the assignment to demolish the Vampire. Both organizations confronted the TATARI, one of the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors, as they only had normal Conceptual Weapons, they were unable to affect the phenomenon no matter how many times they defeated its materializations.

Three days later, the mission was unsuccessful and TATARI annihilated the village and slaughtered everybody including the dispatched Knights of the Church. Riesbyfe sacrificed herself to save Sion and faced Wallachia alone so that Sion could escape. This Vampire, Wallachia was the one who made her into one of his kind. She never returned to the Mage's Association from that day on and she is presently being chased by both the Church and Mage's Association. She feels a constant thirst for blood, and is searching for a cure before she becomes a Vampire.

Three years after that incident and before of events of Melty Blood started, Sion arrived in Misaki Town during her search for Arcueid Brunestud, hoping that she may know a cure for vampirism, to turn her back into a human once more. She is also seeking out Wallachia to take revenge. Arriving in Misaki, she ended up meeting with Satsuki Yumizuka for the first time in the back allies. Because both her and Satsuki have had the same kind of tragic fate (being turned into Vampires and escaping the current society), both quickly became friends and formed the Back Alley Alliance. They were acquainted when she was still alive even before Sion arrived to Japan, Sion is Satsuki's pen-pal friend. It seems that ever since the Back Alley Alliance was founded, safety in the alleys has improved remarkably. It was also thanks to Satsuki that Sion got the basic information about Shiki Tohno, Arcueid, Ciel, Akiha Tohno and their involvements in cases caused by Michael Roa Valdamjong and Nrvnqsr Chaos in Tsukihime.

She met Tohno Shiki in Shrine Skyscraper when he was investigating the case of the return of the vampire serial killer in town. After a fight, they both agreed to help each other, as the Night of Wallachia appeared within the city of Misaki Town it was able to manifest the fear present in several of the main characters’ hearts, creating entities such as an evil Arcueid who had succumbed to her bloodlust, a form of the bloodthirsty assassin side of Shiki, and even the memory of Nrvnqsr Chaos. He even managed to make her succumb to her Vampiric Impulses for the first time, and made her fight against Shiki. Wallachia was eventually destroyed when Arcueid used her Marble Phantasm to prematurely summon Crimson Moon, stripping Wallachia of his power, after which he was killed by Shiki and Sion.

One year later, during Actress Again, the TATARI is summoned once more in Misaki, this time by Dust of Osiris, a possible future version of Sion should she stay in Atlas rather than chase Wallachia, eventually reaching the position of chief of Atlas.[2]

Tsukihime Remake series[]

In the Remake continuity, TATARI is shown to be listed as one of The Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors in the list possesed by Arcueid Brunestud.

Fate Worlds[]

Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files[]

Here, in the setting of stay night and El-Melloi II, Zepia never succumbed to madness and created a synthetic blood formula to sustain himself, remaining as the director of Atlas, Zepia Eltnam Atlasia. In the past, Zepia calculated that, depending on the circumstances, Gransurg Blackmore might have become his comrade, but it's only a possibility of what could have been, as, before he was born, this possibility, like several other possible branches, was cut off nearly 1700 years ago.[3] Zepia came to recognize Sion as his most talented descendant and adopted her as his daughter, giving her the name Sion Eltnam Sokaris.[4]

When Lord El-Melloi II and Reines El-Melloi Archisorte first came to the Blackmore Cemetery, they met Zepia living in a cabin there as a guest because he's contractually obliged to help the village in its ritual so he can get back one of the Atlas Contracts, which they somehow got a hold of back in the days. Zepia is a nomad, going wherever he wants even as the Director of Atlas instead of "living like a mole" in his words, because he has some sort of "landline" that allows him to keep in contact and share information with Atlas no matter where he is on the globe.[3]

Months later, Waver recalls something that Zepia said back then that makes him realize he was connected to Doctor Heartless, so both he and Gray go back to the cemetery and find Zepia still there, who then activates Logos React, one of Atlas' seven superweapons, which sends the two of them into a recreation of the past.[3] Zepia would later send Flat Escardos and Svin Glascheit through as well to find them.[5]

The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II[]

Here Sion is similar in personality to her Melty Blood self, she has a mission, an internal audit on a traitor to Atlas, Latio Crudelis Hiram. Determining that Lord El-Melloi II has been in contact with this traitor, she accosts his companions Rin Tohsaka and Ergo. She kidnaps Ergo with the Etherlite and uses Set inside him as a key to activate one of the secret entrances to the underwater Library of Alexandria.

Latio attempts to trap Ergo in a sarcophagus and link him to Osiris's Divine Body to use him to power a supercomputer and answer Atlas's questions about the end of the world. Sion uses her Etherlite to hack into El-Melloi II's mind and learn the Servant summoning ritual, then uses Ergo's gods as the equivalent of a Holy Grail to power a summoning. She and Ergo both briefly become the Masters of Ptolemy just long enough for Ptolemy to use his Noble Phantasm to stop Latio and seal the library.

Fate/EXTRA[]

Within the world of the Fate/EX series, Sialim Eltnam Re-Atlasia is the last Alchemist of the Atlas Temple, as an Atlasian Alchemist she was devoted only to her own research, her goal is to avoid the future of destruction. Essentially, this means that it's okay for humanity to change or decline as a species if it means surviving. She created the Homunculus known as Rani VIII with the intention to see if it was possible for not just alchemists but for humanity to continue existing in the cyber world, which would mean having to give up their physical bodies. After sending Rani to the moon, she succumbed to a terminal disease and passed away in a month. She gave Rani two orders: to judge whether the Moon Cell was useful or not and to look for someone who could make Rani understand what her emotions were.

Fate/Grand Order[]

In the world of Fate/Grand Order, Sion foresaw the invasion of the Alien God and attempted to warn the other members of the Atlas Academy about it, only to realize that they were so busy trying to avert their own visions of the apocalypse that none of them could spare the resources to aid her. Upon being told by her father that since she was the one who saw the invasion it would be her responsibility to stop it,[6] she traveled from Atlas to the Wandering Sea based on the knowledge that it would not be affected by the bleaching of the world. While the Magi of the Wandering Sea were not concerned about the wiping of humanity's Texture from the world since it had nothing to do with the Age of Gods, they allowed Sion to stay for one year in exchange for her creating an eighth contract with Atlas for their use.[7]

Sion and her Servant Captain repurposed the entrance area of the Wandering Sea into a replica of Chaldea's old base, as she expected that they would be able to use her Paper Moon system to escape into Void Space and was sure that they were in the best position to fight the Alien God and the Crypters. She sent a radio signal out Chaldea telling them she was at the Wandering Sea.

Götterdämmerung: Eternal Icy Fire Century[]

After Chaldea finishes their business in the Norse Lostbelt, Sion and Captain greet them when they arrive at the Wandering Sea.

SIN: Synchronized Intellect Nation[]

Sion tells the Chaldea group that the Lost Depth of the English Lostbelt is immeasurable, with its Human Order on the brink of collapse, and the humans will likely be extinct in a few months. Additionally, the English Lostbelt is surrounded by a wall of light, in contrast to the wall of storms surrounding the other Lostbelts, a difference that concerns her.

Upon learning of the Ortinax from Da Vinci, she proposes the idea of augmenting its Bunker Bolt mechanism with a replica of the Black Barrel.

Magecraft[]

As a family of Alchemist from Atlas, they make use of it's unique form of Alchemy that is an advancement of the metallurgy of ancient Egypt, the root of the discipline, and has not been influenced by western Magecraft like the Alchemy that the Clock Tower Magi handle, as well as using Memory Partition and Thought Acceleration like every other Alchemist that hail from the Temple. As one of the Six Sources, their family's Magecraft explores the potential of the body like how the Crudelis use bones to make golems and constructs, the Eltnam instead use nerves.

The Etherlite (エーテライト, Ēteraito?) is a Mystic Code of the Eltnam family. It is an artificial nervous system constructed of ether and a nano-scale filament a micron thick with a maximum range of five kilometers, connected to her through a bracelet. Sion uses it like a whip to slice and entrap opponents during battle, but its true use is in attaching to the opponent's skin to integrate with their central nervous system and read their thoughts and memories. It was originally intended as a substitute nervous system for use by surgeons, so it can substitute destroyed nerves. The mental link formed between the user and the target has made the Eltnam name become synonymous with Spiritron Hacking. Though others find the thought-reading function to be vile in itself, it carries the even more dangerous ability to "merge with and copy memories and experiences." Thought of as inhumane and demonic even by Atlas, the "acquisition of another's life" is a technique unique to the Eltnam family, they are scorned and feared due their creation and use of this Mystic Code. It can also be used to draw in information of her surroundings by spinning in place.

Attaching it to and removing it from an unknowing target is easy due to it being like a thread unable to be seen with the naked eye, giving her the ability to compel and coerce the human nervous system of the target. It is a true talent to completely invade and seize another individual through thousands of barriers like reason and instinct. Taking over the person's "hardware", it hacks into the only control center of the body, the brain, and becomes a second control center. Thought directs the body, so it hacks into that process and sabotages the original. It penetrates to the deepest level of the person, hacking orders to the body that believes came from its own brain. It instantly seeks out and fuses with their nerves, and its length is enough to easily fill a human body. It can be thought of as hacking both their mind and body, allowing her to either simply read their thoughts or have complete control of their actions.

It takes information from the brain to "create a blueprint of the soul" from which thought processes are derived. While other methods of collecting knowledge can damage the information and possibly the target, Etherlite does not leave a scar in the mind or negatively affect the brain. The thoughts can be invaded, downloaded, and rewritten without the target knowing at all. While it can move their body without their input, it is possible to resist commands to an extent. It is not fully mind reading, but instead the ability to read the subjects and verbs of the thoughts, minus the conjunctions. It can easily track a person so long as they are connected to it, and it cannot be removed by the target without frying their nervous system and body because it is considered a part of it. It would not be effective against a target like a True Ancestor, but she can easily send electricity to destroy the brain of a normal human and likely kill them with pain even before nerve damage begins.

The manga includes the ability to release the limiter on a person's nerves to greatly increase their physical ability as a last resort. Due to going over their normal limits by releasing the body's restraints, it puts large strain on the them and can not be used very often. Once the limiter is enabled again, the target is left unable to move for a time.
