Malicious Information[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Malicious Information [Circumstances], p.094 [T]

Malicious Information [Circumstances]
Just as there are curses in real life, so too are there curses in the Photonic Abyss that is SE.RA.PH.
They are known as "malicious information": negative thoughts and sentiments that are born from the actions of sentient beings.
Proclamations of evil. Self-serving lies, compounding upon themselves endlessly. Demagoguery that leverages straw men to take hold of the masses. All of these forms of negative information are cancers that afflict the entirety of a community by corrupting that which is positive: the truth.
In the material world, this negativity would eventually fade away per its transient nature, but in SE.RA.PH., a place fundamentally constructed from data, malicious information is a foulness that erodes its territories.
All of the malicious information that has been recorded since humanity created a language-based culture is disposed of on the Far Side of the Moon. At first. only "unused information" was thrown away there, but once billions of pieces of malicious information accumulated, the mass began to manifest as a sludge that bled into reality.
The history of justice in human society is recorded on the face of the Moon, while the dreadful history of humanity's terrible crimes is recorded on the Far Side of the Moon.
For virtual beings, who subsist on spiritrons, malicious information could be considered "junk food," complete with the accompanying rush.
In the past, a certain Al planned to consume this massive amount of energy and control the Moon Cell, but it gave up on its plan in the final stages. It is said to have sunk into the depths of the Far Side of the Moon.
The magicians of old have disappeared from the center stage, and the era of magic has drawn to a complete close.
Today, those who take on the appellation of "Wizard" represent spiritron Hackers, a new generation of mankind.

悪性情報【事柄】

Archimedes[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Archimedes [Servant], p.094-096 [T]

Archimedes [Servant]
A Solo Servant summoned by the Moon Cell to act as SE.RA.PH's systems admin.
He is given form as a technician to perform maintenance on SE.RA.PH, but after coming into contact with the harvester of worlds known as the Umbral Star, Archimedes becomes its devoted apostle.
When he interfaces with the once-sealed Ark of the Stars, he becomes corrupted by its influence. He then begins to make preparations so that the Umbral Star can consume the Moon Cell once and for all.
Although he acts like a vassal of the Umbral Star, he has no intention of placing himself beneath it. For its part, the Umbral Star has no method to control Archimedes either.
If asked why he would work for the Umbral Star, Archimedes would reply with:
"No reason. I are simply bored of the civilizations of Earth. I want to know about how the intelligence of other sentient life forms is constructed."
In this story, he is the mastermind who awakens Altera's deadliest form, the White Titan Sephyr.
Archimedes is introverted, stubborn, and active.
He is the personification of order, individualism, reason, and rationality.
He is loquacious, but while his tone is gentle, there is a fire behind his words.
He is a curious creature, both social and rational.
Archimedes believes that the world should be peaceful, and does his best to ensure that it is, but he also places himself above this level of reasoning.
"Totalitarianism is the best method to achieve societal happiness. This is because we are able to acquire more resources in the most efficient manner by these means. This is how a system should be. Yes, indeed... All human beings, aside from myself, should work for the greater good."
He approves of a society that is logical, but not necessarily because he dislikes conflict; rather, he thinks that it is necessary to sustain a machine with high productivity.
Archimedes believes that the solutions he seeks are paramount to everything else, and he has used everything and anything as mechanisms to help him achieve his goals.
The foolishness of humans... The weakness that prevents them from accepting reality for what it is because they prioritize their emotions... This is what he hates, but it is not a personal dislike so much as animosity towards the overall way humans exist.
Archimedes hates the way humans cannot succeed individually without creating a "hideous" society, and is disappointed in people whose opinions are swayed by their emotions. Thus, it is rare for him to show his animosity in front of people.

              ◆

Originally, he lived around c. 287 BC — c. 212 BC as a mathematician, engineer, and astronomer.
He was born to a line of artists, and took up astronomy just as his father did before him.
At the point of his death in the year c. 212 BC, he resided in the city of Syracuse, located on the eastern coast of current-day Sicily.
Archimedes' famous achievements involve a range of geometrical theorems from "On the Equilibrium of Planes," "On the Measurement of a Circle," and "On the Sphere and the Cylinder," as well as "Archimedes' cattle problem" in Diophantine analysis.
While his peers respected him as a genius, they also considered him rather strange.
He lived in proud seclusion far from Alexandria, the hotbed of academic pursuits at the time, and preferred written correspondence to face-to-face dialogue.
Most scholars of his era treasured recognition just as much as discovery, and basked in the praise of the citizens around them.
Archimedes had no such interest, and was said to have been fixated on the beauty and accuracy of his own theorems.
Archimedes was also the cornerstone of Syracuse's defenses, as he was even more talented as an engineer than he was as a mathematician.
The seaside city-state relied on his supreme war machines far more than it did on ordinary soldiers.
Plutarch wrote in his Parallel Lives that Archimedes was related to King Hiero II, the ruler of Syracuse. It is easy to imagine how he ended up in the position of chief engineer tasked with the defense of the city-state.
Archimedes' fame as an engineer was known throughout the land from early on. Ancient Greek historian Polybius, born in c. 200 BC, wrote the following account in his Universal History some seventy years after Archimedes' death:
"If you were to see these works, you would easily understand how the intelligence of a single human being can bring about amazing achievements if they are given the proper stage. In truth, the Roman armies who had shown overwhelming might on the planes of both ground and sea were convinced that they would be able to conquer the city-state of Syracuse should just that single old man disappear. However, as long as Archimedes existed, and his methods of protecting Syracuse were in place, they would fear to tread anywhere near the city's walls."
Many of the defense mechanisms he invented effectively demolished a variety of would-be invaders.
However, in the year of c. 212 BC...
Syracuse formed an alliance with Carthage during Carthage's Second Punic War against the Romans, and so Syracuse and Rome became enemies.
Consequently, a Roman force led by the General Marcus Claudius Marcellus laid siege to the port city by both land and sea.
Archimedes' fortifications effectively repelled the invaders, but the city fell due to treachery, and Archimedes lost his life in the aftermath.
However, his story comes to an end after the siege, rather than during it.
Archimedes' name was well known to the Romans, and the victorious General Marcellus sent out orders that the scholar was not to be harmed. According to the popular account given by Plutarch in his heroic tale Parallel Lives. Archimedes was contemplating a mathematical diagram when the city was captured. A Roman soldier commanded him to come along, but he declined, saying that he had to finish working on the problem. The soldier then flew into a rage and killed Archimedes with his sword.
(Plutarch calls this story a mere rumor, and clarifies that there were other rumors as well, like one stating that Archimedes was killed because the soldier thought the technical drawings in his possession would be valuable spoils of war.)
It is said that Archimedes' last words, uttered to the soldier who stopped him while he was drawing geometric configurations in the sand, were "μὴ μου τοὺς κύκλους τάραττε," meaning "Do not step on my figures/ Do not disturb my circles!"
Despite those last words being well known, they are not noted in Parallel Lives, and their source remains a mystery.

One final bit of trivia: When the Roman orator and politician Marcus Tullius Cicero was serving as quaestor in Sicily in c. 75 BC, he reported finding the tomb of Archimedes near the Agrigentine gate in Syracuse, clearly neglected and overgrown with bushes. It is said that the tomb contained a sculpture illustrating the late scholar's favorite proof, consisting of a sphere and a cylinder of the same height and diameter. This was one of the greatest mathematical accomplishments of his life.

              ◆

In the world of Fate, Archimedes lived his mortal life as a man who could not see the beauty in anything other than the solutions he created within himself. Because of his great intellect and his broad view, however, he was never ostracized from society.
Even though he was resigned to the fact that he was "different" from everyone around him, he was also socially adept and magnanimous, and his genius contributed greatly to the advancement of Syracuse.
Other mathematicians of the time only pursued the "beauty of their theorems," and did not concern themselves with the way society should be.
And so Archimedes could even be considered an aberration of his time, as he performed work in both math and industry.
His dual nature is what led to his conflicted personality as both an engineer, in the service of mankind, and an egoist.
After he becomes corrupted by the Umbral Star, his frustrations with both his own failings and the foolish commoners all rise to the surface, turning him aggressive.
Truth be told, he is in a constant state of anger.
He recalls every goal he failed to achieve in life...
He laments that humanity makes the same mistakes over and over...
His superior intelligence is still his defining trait.
Which makes him angry about everything.
And so, he thinks nothing of manipulating others.
As a matter of fact, he enjoys it. He had always thought that the only things that would move as he intended were his numbers, his creations. But after all this time, he has realized that even the world itself is merely a tool, one he can manipulate to his heart's desire.
So he hides his aggressive nature with a smile, and finds joy in the way he can now draw fully upon all of his strengths to achieve his goals.

"Previously, I had only found joy in numbers."
"Troublingly enough, I now find that my own life is somewhat amusing."

One could even say that Archimedes has finally regained the innocence of his youth.
He can even smile at his enemies, as he considers everything a "tool."
He recognizes the obstacles before him, but he does not hate them. Even if he is betrayed, as long as the process that led to his betrayal is logically correct, he is satisfied with the outcome.
What he truly dislikes and finds distasteful are opponents who have "strayed from logic."
He loathes those who would not choose the correct answer when it's right in front of them.
His mortal enemies are those who would rampage down the wrong path at full speed without a shred of reasoning.

Altera (Earth)[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Altera (Earth) [Character], p.096-097 [T]

Altera (Earth) [Person]
When the White Titan crumbled to the Earth, it left a small sliver of its lifeforce within its own ruins as a backup. In the world of Fate/EX, the elders of the Hun tribe, descendants of the Xiongnu (Hsiung-nu, Huna), excavated the ruins and found that sliver of life in the form of a human girl. Seeing her potential, they took her in and raised her.
As she grew, living as a Hun and taking on their language and culture, subconscious memories of Altera's previous life swirled in the back of her mind. Because of those memories, she became aware of the “War God”. She asked the elders a question:
“Does the War God have a name?”
The elders replied that there was a War God named Mars in the Western lands.
“Then my blade is the Sword of Mars. I think I would like to name it that.”
Despite the memories and dreams she could never explain, she believed herself to be an ordinary human.
And as a human, she led her people to march across the Western lands, establishing herself as the "Great King of Destruction”.
Said to have lived in the fifth century AD, she carved a great empire through much of the Western world.
Leading armies on horseback, she ravaged battlefields. Her empire was a vast territory consisting of western Asia, Russia, Eastern Europe, and Gaul, conquered through immeasurable bloodshed.
It is even said that she was responsible for the fall of the Western Roman Empire.
In life, she knew war and little else. She was called "punishment from God" and "the Scourge of God" in all corners of Europe. especially Northwestern Rome. The sight of her ferocious figure on the battlefield was widely feared.
...She never knew that her drive to conquer and destroy came from an ideology embedded in her very DNA.
That being said, the Altera on Earth had no other connection with the Umbral Star. She lived and died as a human, revered — among her own people, at least — as a hero. Today. she is known simply as “Attila the Hun.”
From the perspective of the Altera sleeping on the Moon, the life of Attila was but a fanciful dream. This is similar to the circumstances surrounding Saber and "The Forests of Camlann and the Holy Grail War" in Fate/stay night.
But Attila's memories left their mark on Titan Altera, sparking a glimmer of humanity within her. As a result, she began to question her programmed mission.
The Altera in Fate/Grand Order is the Heroic Spirit form of the Titan Altera.
Although the Altera of FGO is no longer connected to the titan version of herself, she recalls traces of that connection, which she considers memories of a previous life she can't quite grasp.
But a vestige of her old self's power is still buried in the depths of her core...

Altera (Moon)[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Altera (Moon) [Servant], p.097 [T]

Altera (Moon) [Servant]
This mysterious sword-maiden in white, a Saber-class Servant, bursts onto the scene from the Zero Dark.
One of the three main heroines of EXTELLA, she is also one of the only three Servants to have a Master at the time of the story.
Her history is extensive and detailed, so please one the "Titan Altera" entry for more information.

Altera's Cage[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Altera's Cage [Item Name], p.097 [T]

Altera's Cage [Item Name]
A prison for the Main Character, hastily constructed by Titan Altera.
Although from the outside, it looks like there's ample space to squeeze through the bars, it goes without saying that even the "gaps" are actually sealed. so breaking free is impossible.
The reason why Titan Altera created the cage is revealed in the game.

Artoria[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Artoria [Servant], p.097 [T]

Artoria [Servant]
A mysterious heroine who briskly sets foot on the chaotic new SE.RA.PH.
Like Iskandar, she is a Top Servant.
Her true identity is shrouded in mystery, and there are no plans to reveal it during EXTELLA.
She is here strictly to play a cameo role. Her stance is, "I don't really know anything about Altera, but all I have to do is defeat evil, right?" Because she is utterly free to do as she likes, she fits in no matter where she goes.
Since she has no influence on the main story, she has no real reason to be concerned with its proceedings.
Yet despite her seemingly unimportant role, Artoria also has the responsibility of cutting down and killing Altera with Excalibur if she becomes too much to handle. She is truly the ultimate doomsday device.

Anti-Cell[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Anti-Cell [Circumstances], p.097 [T]

Anti-Cell [Circumstances]
The Vanguard of the Umbral Star. Velber sends these to conquer planets.
Because the Moon Cell designed high-level information life forms from human civilizations (the Servants), the Umbral Star retaliated by designing life forms that could efficiently destroy civilizations — hence the name "Anti-Cells."
These land on planets that have been marked for harvest and use a variety of methods to ravage the civilizations there.
All of the Anti-Cells have an idiosyncratic approach to completing this task. They grow by draining the spiritrons from intelligent life forms, and break down once all intelligent life has been destroyed, as that is their source of food.
As the Umbral Star's harvesters, they obey its commands first and foremost.

アンチセル【事柄】

Iskandar[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Iskandar [Servant], p.097-098 [T]

Iskandar [Servant]
A Rider-class Servant in Altera's army.
He was born in the 4th century BC to the royal family of Macedonia, a kingdom in Greece.
Thanks to the influence of his mother, Olympias, he was fascinated by the exploits of heroes in mythology. He believed that he was the son of Zeus (who was also regarded as an Egyptian god by the name of Amun).
He inherited the throne at the young age of twenty, and began his great conquest by uniting the Grecian states. He raised an army and led them in a campaign to the East, not only conquering the great kingdom of Persia, but also many of the kingdoms under its control, beginning with Egypt.
The name Iskandar was given to him by the Arabs and the Persians. His campaign to the East went as far as India. There, his troops and generals complained of fatigue, and so he turned back to Babylon, where he suddenly passed away.
He created the greatest empire in the history of mankind as a conqueror, but his dying words, "Leave everything to the strongest." ended up splitting it apart instead.
Today, the Heroic Spirit Iskandar is a Top Servant, known among his peers as the "King of Conquerors."
When the Moon Cell senses that Altera has been released, it summons him to do battle with her. However, being unaccustomed to fighting on SE.RA.PH., with all its subtle differences to the Earth he lived and died on, he approaches the fight as a kind of warm-up.
Because of that, he loses. Altera then declares that his life belongs to her, and forces him to join her army. (This sort of thing is bound to happen when you don't play with your full attention on the game...)
Technically, this also makes him a Servant of Altera's Master, but Altera treats them both as if they were the same rank.
Altera understands that her victory over Iskandar was a matter of circumstance, and that they are evenly matched in terms of strength. While, subsequent to their fight, she does wield power over him, she does not consider him to be beneath her — nor does she look down on Jeanne, whom she recruits in a similar fashion.
Iskandar understands that as well; but accepts his defeat with dignity. From then on, he pledges to assist Altera in achieving her goals.
Make no mistake, however: He is loyal only to Altera, and not the Umbra' Star.

Wizards[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Wizards [Circumstances], p.098 [T]

Wizards [Circumstances]
Wizards are the A-Rank hackers in the Fate/EX series.
Compared to other hackers, they possess an unusually high level of talent, and can send their very souls into digital worlds. They transform their souls, minds, and bodies not into digital information, but into spiritrons.
With their engineering skills, they can then use these avatars to navigate cyberspace. In other words, they are able to fashion "physical" shells, called Cyber Frames, within the digital world. Sentient beings within the digital world, whether they have truly physical bodies are not, can still be considered "alive.' in that they can affect change in their environments according to their own will and conditions.
While knowledge and skill are both obviously important to hackers, what's most important is their sense of connection between mind and body.
To be a true hacker, one 'mist have the rare ability to clearly imagine the nature of one's body virtually as a sequence of numbers, utilizing a set of imaginary "nerves" known as "magical circuits." The Moon Cell recognizes beings with this ability, and allows them to cultivate its virtual space, pioneering new expansions as has been mankind's greatest purpose, and greatest sin, since the beginning.
For Wizards who have access to these possibilities, one could even say that cyberspace is a second reality to them. A Wizard's original body, hack on Earth, is merely its "house." Even if one's body on Earth should perish, they will be only be unable to return to that house, arid nothing more. They can remain in the new frontier of cyberspace, and as long as they are not extinguished there, their existence will continue on.
(However. Wizards who do lose their physical bodies also lose those bodies' natural resistance to change. While they can continue to exist as collections of data and values, they can then be much more easily manipulated.)
For a Wizard. "true death" is the death of his or her digital brain. The moment his or her soul burns out in the cyber world, they irrevocably turn to dust, impossible to revive.
The Main Character is a Wizard who now lacks a body on Earth, due to past events explained in a previous game, Fate/EXTRA.

魔術師【事柄】

Velber[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Velber [Circumstances], p.098-099 [T]

Velber [Circumstances]
"Velber" is the name of the predatory Umbral Star, also known as the Harvest Star. Like a comet, it flies on a set orbit through space, passing through the Milky Way galaxy once every 14,000 Earth years.
Its appearance resembles a crying eye.
It destroys all intelligent civilizations in its path, and in doing so, it consumes all digital data within reach.
The last time it passed through Earth's orbit, it annihilated virtually all sentient life on the planet, and plundered 80% of the Moon Cell's data.
It is thought to be a product of the same alien civilization that created the Moon Cell, although its form and purpose are obviously very different.
The true motive of the Umbral Star remains unclear, but during its previous attack on Earth, the Moon Cell did get a chance to analyze its structure.
Within Velber is a central part that could be considered its core, surrounded by layers of armor made of numerous "Arks of the Stars," individual space vessels.
If one considers the main body of Velber to be its central core, the surrounding portions are its self-made invasion weapons. Each layer of armor has its own distinct means of annihilating civilizations.
Velber's form strikes an optimal balance between offense and defense, and it has utilized that balance to wage victorious war against all sentient life in its path for eons.
The Ark of the Stars that carried the "White Titan" Altera to Earth was only one of three Arks that came to Earth in the previous cycle.
The other two, the "Big Brother" and "Little Sister" of Altera, are not mentioned in this game.

Void Cell [Circumstances]
A Void Cell is a spiritron-gathering entity. It is on the some level as the Moon Cell, but it appears to be made of a different substance.
This particular Void Cell dwells at the core of Altera's Ark of the Stars.
The moment Archimedes came in contact with the Ark, he was corrupted by the Void Cell, and subsequently Elizabeth was infected as well.

Heroic Spirit Altera[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Heroic Spirit Altera [Servant], p.099 [T]

Hero Altera [Servant]
An avatar the "Titan Altera" created to act as a separate, more mobile agent. Creating the avatar drained the titan's resources greatly, so much that she actually shrank as a result. (Her body dropped down one rank, from thirty-four meters, her size when she was sealed away, to sixteen meters.)
As a pseudo-Servant created by the titan, she is able to freely move around SE.RA.PH (within the restrictions of her limited mana supply). When the titan is in sleep mode, she sees through Hero Altera's eyes in an experience similar to a dream.
A pseudo-Servant, "Hero Altera" requires a Master (in her case, the Main Character) in order to exist in a tangible form. Without the Main Character at her side, she would have no mana source, and would be unable to move or act.
Her personality is exactly the same as the version of Altera who walked the fields of the Earth, better known as Attila the Hun. Attila, for reasons she only half remembered, revered the God of War, and of Altera's three present incarnations, her Hero self most clearly shows that god's influence.
She wields the Sword of Mars, a tricolored blade of light. As a Servant of the Umbral Star, she feeds on the data inside of SE.RA.PH. She leads the warped "Forces of Destruction."
Although the Main Character is, by Fate's definition of the term, her Master, she uses "Prisoner" instead, and treats her Master like a tool...at least at the beginning. She is brash and straightforward to the point of tactlessness, as opposed to Titan Altera, who keeps many of her true thoughts pent up inside out of guilt.
Cold-hearted and cruel, she seems like a killing machine without a shred of emotion, but is there more behind her stoic facade? You'll have to play the game to find out.

Extra World[]

The World of Extella [Circumstances]
"The minds of people are now accustomed to regulation, and civilization has become stagnant. There are no great tragedies, but neither are there new discoveries. Pessimism reigns supreme in this insipid world, where we can only bide our time until death. This is our reality."
The world of EXTRA differs from that of Fate/stay night in that it follows an alternate history, with events having started to diverge in 1970. Fate/EXTRA and its sequels are set on Earth and the Moon, starting in 2030.
Mana, the energy required to perform large-scale supernatural phenomena, has dried up. True magic has been lost from the Earth. The magicians of old have disappeared from center stage, and the era of magic has drawn to a complete close.
Now, a new generation of "Wizards" has arisen, technological hackers who utilize digital spiritrons to achieve the effects of magic.

NPC[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: NPC [Circumstances], p.099-100 [T]

NPCs [Circumstances]
Virtual living organisms created in order to run the Holy Grail Wars smoothly.
The Moon Cell calculated the need to create and use them, while also observing that the Masters would need to be able to interact with them on a genuine human level. Accordingly, while NPCs could not deviate from their designated functions or roles, the Moon Cell gave each one of them individual personalities and thoughts.
However, their "personas" were meant to be disposable, and it was impossible for them to escape the philosophy of life that was programmed into them.
Once each Holy Grail War ended, the Moon Cell would retract the NPCs' experiences. Everything about them, including their bodies, stats, and personalities, would be reset, and they would be recycled as "mechanisms" to facilitate the next Holy Grail War.
Such was their lot for many years, but now that the world has been reborn as the new SE.RA.PH, the Moon Cell granted each of them the right to continue living as they are. Although they still have roles to play, their faces are definitely brighter now, considering there's no longer a giant "reset button" about to be pushed that terminates them once the battle of the Masters comes to an end.
Some NPCs desire to become true Al by embracing their humanity. They are driven to improve themselves.
The sudden influx of new NPC businesses in New Rome and the Millennium Capital is not due to a widespread awakening to the spirit of capitalism; rather, the NPCs are gathering resources in order to make their dreams come true.
And yet Tamamo, ever the evil dictator, mercilessly taxes their hard-earned wages...

Elizabeth Void[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Elizabeth Void [Servant], p.100 [T]

Corroded Elizabeth [Servant]
Finally, the Dark★Star reveals her true nature.
Corrupted by the Void Cell, she becomes a Servant on the side of the Umbra! Star. Her true identity remains Elizabeth Bathory.
In the first stage of Nero's arc, even though she is technically acting under Tamamo's orders, Elizabeth tries to leverage the state of chaos in SE.RA.PH to carve out her own land. She converts a part of Nero's territory into her own and uses it for a concert venue.
...When you think about it, it's a pretty stupid plan.
Predictably, she is immediately defeated. While throwing a tantrum about losing to Nero simply because she does not possess a Regalia, she runs into the mysterious Archimedes. It is he who directs her to the corrupting influence of the Void Cell, and she sinks into its depths. (For her part, she suspects Archimedes might be the president of a shady talent agency.)
Afterwards, she plots to simply get rid of Nero, Tamamo no Mae, and Altera, so that she can steal everything when the dust clears.
From that point on, she continues to see Nero as her spiritual rival, while she sees Tamamo as an intrusive evil who needs to be removed.
The Main Character remains her beloved "Piggy" (or "Squirrel," if female). At least some things never change.
Liz, prone to soliloquy, makes her bold proclamation: "Yes! I'M the one destined to rise to the top, not some fresh-faced giant chick or some terrible old geezer Servant! Imma conquer the Moon Cell, swipe that Regalia. take Altera's power. and become a perfect idol! I'M the one who Little Piggy is going to fall head over heels for in the end! This is my chance, now that I've totally fallen off the righteous path and become the evil blood maiden, Corroded Elizabeth Bathory!"
All at once, everyone's voice cries out, "You thought you were on the side of justice until now?!"
Of course, not a single one of her plans come to fruition. Defeated, she grumbles in frustration.
"No...! I was just a step away... I was so close!"
The chorus once again rises in reply. "No you weren't, Liz... In fact, you never even managed the first step!"
Ironically enough, it was Archimedes' gifts to Elizabeth, which empowered her to make a poorly thought out power play, that thwarted his own plan.

Gawain appears in the legends of King Arthur as an illustrious knight, rivaled only by “Lancelot of the Lake.” The eldest child of King Lot, the ruler of Orkney and Lothian, he is also the nephew of King Arthur, which is why he was occasionally entrusted with the Divine Sword Excalibur. He is known as a virtuous man, and his valor in battle is noted in many stories.
He fought the Main Character as the Servant of Leonardo B. Harwey in Fate/EXTRA.
His belief that he should serve under a King has not changed, and he has chosen to work for Nero since she possesses the Royal Authority.
Despite the fact that he assists her, he has not pledged his loyalty to her. He trusts the Main Character, who helped him to grow further by defeating Leo.
The discovery that Tamamo also has a Regalia shook him, but he was able to assuage his misgivings by thinking, “I can trust Saber more than I can trust that Caster. In the end, I made the right decision.”
Such is Gawain’s nature. He wields his sword with renewed enthusiasm after he finds out that the Main Character was the one who was chosen by the Regalia.
His side story has him facing off with a mysterious intruder, the blue-clad Saber. Sometimes he deserves to show off his cool side!

Karna is a hero who appears in the ancient Indian epic, the Mahabharata.
The child of the Sun God Surya, he is a tragic hero who was never able to bask in the glory of his divine lineage due to a variety of misfortunes throughout his life.
Although he endured a great deal of hardship, Karna himself has no regrets.
In fact, he believes that because he received superhuman abilities from his father, it is his duty to suffer through trials and tribulations.
Karna is also known as the “Hero of Charity” and is famous for his noble nature, that of someone who basically never refuses any sort of request.
He is a Top Servant who was summoned by the Moon Cell.
Tamamo was the first one to invite him to join her army after he was summoned to SE.RA.PH, which led to him siding with the Millennium Capital.
His sharp appearance, combined with the austerity of his words and actions, cause many to incorrectly believe that he is unapproachable and fearsome. In reality, he is one of the most decent people amongst all the Servants.

Titan Altera[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Titan Altera [AntiCell], p.102-104 [T]

Giant Goddess Altera [AntiCell]
An Anticell that fell to the moon, purged from the vanguard of a predatory wandering planet. 14,000 years ago(in the paleolithic era, at the dawning of the second age of the gods) this gigantic white goddess caused great damage to both Earth's civilizations and the Mooncell.
From the wandering planet's perspective, it's just one of several weapons of mass destruction used to prey upon Earth's cultures. As a "Giant Goddess" Anticell, Altera is a type of vanuard that personally absorbs the mana of the civilation she's destroying, enlarging in size without reproducing until she has wiped out the civilization in question, exhausting its mana and effectively self-destructing.
In the Early Dawn Territory/Zone (<Mimei Ryouiki>?) she is 16 meters in size, but that's only because her default height is set to be "10x the size of the people native to that civilization". From this initial condition she can assimilate electrons in order to enlarge in scale.
The avatar she created on Earth, the Giant Goddess Altera, does have its growth capacity limited in relation to the force of the planet's gravity (goddamn Square-Cube Law), but within the Mooncell's cyberspace she can enlarge without limits. That being said, if her volume increases too greatly then her actions become weighted down and slowed, with her nervous transmissions taking far more time to reach her extremities. She therefore keeps it in mind to keep her actions as a Giant Goddess restrained to a somewhat moderate scale.

Saber Venus[]

Saber Venus [Servant]
The final surprise of this title.
Fate/EX is always pushing boundaries, but this is definitely the furthest the team has ever pushed it in the history of Extra.
In Tamamo-Cat’s words: “Her attack is through the roof.”
It’s very much in character for Nero to beseech the aid of the Goddess of Love (Venus) and not the God of War (Mars). We went with Venus instead of Aphrodite just because Venus rolls off the tongue better.
We salute Wada Arco, who took on the “bikini armor” motif that’s fading into obscurity, and, without a shred of embarrassment, finished it up into something so beautiful!

Sefar[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Sefar [Concept] [T]

Sefar [Concept]
A massive mansion. Wait, that’s Caesar.2
Sefar is the avatar that the Giant God Altera used when she appeared on Earth. Altera’s final form. This is the alternate form that the Altera within the Moon Cell created to destroy the Earth’s civilizations 14,000 years ago.
First, she sent her data to the Earth’s surface, and created a giant of herself that was sixteen meters tall.
Then, she sent it on a rampage as a titan, and began destorying the civilizations on the Earth’s surface.
She used the power of the Anti-Cell to make animals giant as well, and used them as tools in her assault upon the humans of that era.
Those animals, who destroyed what are now known as the Western European territories, were immortalized in cave paintings. (In the world of Extra, these are the murals found in Altamira cave.)
She spread destruction everywhere she went, and fought with all of the gods who were protecting humanity, eventually triumphing over the majority of them.
After defeeating “the concept of the War God,” she gained control of the Sword of the War God. (That is the reason why Greek mythology depicts Mars losing to the goddess Athena.)
Altera’s might forced even the gods to retreat, but in the end, she was defeated by the hands of an mere human. That human was the wielder of the Holy Sword, also known as the Divine Armament, which was forged in the inner sea of the stars.
Altera escaped from the battlefield in a near-death state and eventually perished in a desolate field far away. The cave paintings of the White Titan were made by the people of that land, who had witnessed her end.
After quite some time, Altera’s remains became a relic that eventually formed a cave, which was later excavated by the elders of the Hunnic tribe.
Sefar appears as the final boss in Nero, Tamamo, and Altera’s endings. Her distinctly alien appearance is quite captivating.

Solo Servant[]

Tamamo-no-Mae[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Tamamo-no-Mae [Servant] [T]

Tamamo-no-Mae [Servant]
One of the main Servants contracted to the Main Character.
A beauty who hides her smug demeanor and venomous tongue behind a relentless smile. Her nickname is “Casko.”
She is a Japanese-style Servant, and as her Caster class might suggest, she primarily uses spells.
Her demeanor is often cutesy, and she likes to refer to herself in the third person, using phrases like “Tamamo-chan” (“the adorable Tamamo”).
Her dream is to become the Main Character’s wife. Although she dreams big when it comes to the MC, she can be quite the merciless realist when it comes to anything else.
While she admits that she can occasionally be a bit air-headed and preoccupied with romance, she is fundamentally a realistic and rational being whose words strike to the heart of a matter. According to Nero, “Tamamo hides her true depth behind her lewd facade.”
The truth is Tamamo is a Divine Spirit class Anti-Heroic Spirit.
She has lost her true power, so in Extella she is of similar level to normal Heroic Spirits. But as the number of her tails increases, maxing out her spirit level, her power grows beyond measurement, exceeding the realm of human perception and understanding.
This is only expected, since she was originally revered as the embodiment of the Sun itself, and as such her existence carry a similar weight.

In the beginning of EXTELLA, she saves the Soul of the Main Character, who had relied on her to escape. While the Main Character sleeps, Tamamo gains a general understanding of her new environment, including the state the Main Character is in and the meaning behind the Regalia. Despite this knowledge, she decides to pretend to not know anything, secretly making use of the Regalia to carve out her own domain, while acting as if she were the only Servant the Main Character ever had. She is a very efficient woman.
When Archimedes comes to her, she instinctively realizes that he is up to no good, but ignores her instincts in order to spend more time being lovey-dovey with the Main Character.
This is how Tamamo becomes the monstrous Empress of her kingdom.
She follows her whims, and not only forces her perspective on the Servants who serve under her, but on occasion uses her influence (power) to pressure even the Main Character to ensure she gets her way.
Tamamo no Mae is typically sweet and affectionate towards the Main Character, but will turn cold and cruel at the suggestion of peaceful negotiation with others, chiding him or her for questioning her methods, all through a threatening smile. “When you show such unnecessary kindness to others,” she might say, "I might find myself upset. Even I have no idea what I might do.”
It goes without saying that her goal is not to achieve peace on SE.RA.PH, but to return the Main Character to normal, and keep him or her by her side until the very end.
She can see plain as day that Archimedes is lying, so she plans to use this knowledge to her advantage, and come in and “save the day,” capturing the Main Character’s heart in the process.
But an evil empire isn’t built in a day, and evil deeds are bound to come back to bite.
Ultimately, she admits her misconduct, and decides to fight for the Main Character’s goal of saving Altera.
Nero is motivated by a pure desire to save Altera, but Tamamo, who can discern Altera’s true nature, better understands the risks involved in pursing such a course. However, she approaches the situation with a predictably in-character attitude, caring more about her “Husband’s” choices and accomplishments than about the well-being of the galaxy.
She WILL destroy the Umbral Star. Altera can be freed along the way. She’ll plant her foot on the faces of Archimedes and Corroded Liz.
Above all, no matter what happens, she will support the Main Character.
That is the way the day-dreaming fox, the “good wife” Tamamo, lives her life.

Altera’s Ark of the Stars is numbered “Velber 02.”
Each Ark has inherited the characteristics of a different alien civilization, so the contents of Velber 01 and Velber 03 are completely distinct organisms right down to their manner of existence.

Magic Energy Absorption[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Magic Energy Absorption [Skill name], p.114 [T]

Magic Energy Absorption [Skill name]
Exclusive skill of Attilaight Cell.
The body of the Titan, composed of spiritron collectors, will unconditionally absorb "magical energy processed into techniques" and covert it into HP and Armor values.
Techniques equate to skills, knowledge, and civilization. To an Anti Cell, there is no better form of nourishment.
Any form of attack (interference) designed by intellect - however undeveloped the theory behind it may be - will only grant more power to Altera.
The large firepower of greater magecraft and strategic weapons of science and technology will fuel the fire further.
On the other hand, while pure magical energy - what can be called life-force itself - will also be mostly absorbed, it can still exert its regular effect.
Facing against an Anti Cell, it comes down to simply "bludgeoning" it.
Although this is a troublesome skill that can absorb even physical attacks boosted with Mana Burst, one thing can deal an effective blow. The energy discharge of the holy sword.
The White Titan that had once appeared upon the surface was repulsed by the holy sword tempered in the inner sea of the Earth.

Moon Crux[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Moon Crux, p.114-115 [T]
Moon Crux [Armament]

A spiritron-enhancement Mystic Code that Servants can wear with the power of the Regalia.

Moonlight Mystic Code. The Moon Cell version of the “Big Crunch.” It is made by collecting all of the pseudo-spiritrons (light cells) within the Moon.

Nero’s Moon Crux is made in the image of a Roman gladiator, combined with the princess of a new empire. Her legs really do look beautiful in those red tights. There was a helmet as well for maximum cool factor, but it was super-hot when she tried it on, so she ended up taking it off immediately.

Tamamo no Mae’s Moon Crux combines the luxuriousness of a dangerous beauty with the duality of yin and yang. No matter how you slice it, she looks like the boss of an expensive Ginza hostess club. Back in the planning stages, there was also a yakuza wife-themed outfit, a kimono with chest bindings and tattoos from the neck to the shoulder, but that was unfortunately scrapped.</poem>

Nameless [Servant]
A mysterious Archer-class Servant who showed up on SE.RA.PH without fanfare.
He is part of Nero's army, but the identity of his summoner remains unknown.
He intends only to support the main character, and has no sense of loyalty to Nero herself. "Well, if that's what I've gotta do, that's what I've gotta do," he thinks. "I suppose I'll fight with her."
He has a similar status to Archimedes, who "transitions to different worlds," a reference to the fact that he came from a divergent history. Although he doesn't truly know who he is. Nameless is highly distrustful of Archimedes. "There's no sense of gravity in that man. You could call it...a lack of survival instinct. He's a man who could basically run away to another world. It's doubtful that he even cares about the future of SE.RA.PH."

Nameless assists the main character to make sure the horrible ending he witnessed never comes to pass, after which he will return to his own timeline. Truthfully, the ending he saw is far, far in the future from the events of this current incident. Even on SE.RA.PH, this Servant is an unfortunate stranger, tossed here from a "wrong future."

Crest of the Wandering Star[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Crest of the Wandering Star [skill], p. 116[T]

Crest of the Wandering Star
A skill unique to Titan Altera and the key skill in her character design.
It allows her to take on a giant form in order to destroy civilization.
This is a passive skill that allows Altera to absorb the lives, creations, and concepts she destroys as spiritron-information, making her grow even larger. It is not a skill that she can remove of her own volition.
Her HP increases by an order of magnitude2 when she absorbs the same amount of mana as her current HP.
When her body reaches a size that is twice as large as her previous proportions (at 16, 32, 64,128, 256, 512, and 1024 meters), all her parameters increase by one level as she transitions to the next part of her titan adjustment.
(For example, her Strength is A-rank, so if you think of it as 150 points, adding one level at A+ rank would double that number, putting it at 300 points.)
And if the Titan adjustment is added to that, 300 points at the first stage would become 3,000 at the second stage, 30,000 at the third stage, and so on. At the seventh stage, it would be 300,000,000.
This is an energy mass on the scale of a star, comparable to the power level of the legendary Golden White Face’s nine-tailed form (387,420,489).
This is just some extra trivia, but the “Crest of the Star” skill possessed by the Altera in Fate/Grand Order is missing one character.

Li Shuwen [Servant]
An Assassin-class Servant in Nero's army.
In life, Li Shuwen hailed from the city of Cangzhou in Yanshan County, Hebei. A legendary martial artist, he was celebrated as "God's Spear" from the end of the Qing Dynasty to the formation of the Republic of China.
In Fate/EXTRA, he fought the main character as the Servant of Julius B. Harwey.
In EXTELLA, he joins Nero's army after being scouted by her, although there was only a fifty-fifty chance that he would have agreed; had he been approached by Tamamo first, it is possible he would have joined her army instead.
While his enlistment in Nero's army was more a matter of chance, he holds honor in the highest regard and has pledged his allegiance to the Crimson Emperor, willing to put his life on the line for the sake of their contract, If there had been a route where Archimedes tried to kill the main character directly, Li Shuwen would have stepped in to prevent it instead of Nero. "Why do you protect him [or her]?" Archimedes would ask. "I'd assumed that Nero is the one to whom you owe your word, not her Master." "Well, I never mentioned it to you, but I have a particular bond with this one," Li Shuwen's response would begin. "If it is his [or her] destiny to fall in battle, that is one thing, but no one's going to assassinate him [or her] on my watch. After all, there was once a man who could not accomplish his task because he went along with me for my sake." This sense of justice differs from what he displays as Nero's general, a sense a righteousness born from the experiences he had with the man who was his Master in the past.

The Regalia is a system created the Moon Cell to resist Velber. When the Umbral Star arrives, the Moon Cell enters a state of hibernation, completely shutting out all invaders. It subsequently leaves the security of its inner areas to an AI or Servants it trusts, with the Regalia being proof of its confidence.
The only ones who can destroy the completed Regalia are its owner and Sephar, the Anti-Cell. However, if some accident should cause it to split into multiple pieces, destroying it becomes a simple task.

Once the opportunity arises, he intends to defeat Tamamo and obtain his freedom by taking the Regalia... while being sure to steal Medusa's heart while he is at it.
...At least, that's what we could discern from the scribbilings we found on Kinoko's PC.

Romulus[]

Romulus [Servant]
A Heroic Spirit of the Lancer class, he would no doubt be a Top Servant if he were to appear on SE.RA.PH.
He is a Hero who appeared in the myths surrounding the beginning of ancient Rom, and is credited with helping build the country. Born to the War God Mars and the beautiful princess Rhea Silvia, he was raised by wolves and went on to become the founding father of the empire. A divine ancestor of Nero, evidence of him can be seen in this tale when an emotional Nero shouts, "Magna Voluisse Magnum," the name of his Noble Phantasm.

Trinity[]

[v] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Trinity [Concept], p.108 [T]

Trinity [Concept]
The three elements that compose a human: Mind, Soul, and Body.
In EXTELLA, in order to escape from Titan Altera, the Main Character split himself/herself into these three elements, splitting the Regalia at the same time.
Below is an explanation of each element’s key qualities.

The Mind:
Master of Nero. His or her personality is based on personal experiences and passion.
The Mind is optimistic and outgoing, though not particularly thoughtful.
Even after being informed that he or she will disappear before long, the Mind keeps up a charming smile, believing that it will all work out somehow.
Coupled with that charm is a decent sense of morality, rationality, and justice.

The Soul:
Master of Tamamo no Mae. [Unlike the Mind, whose personality is based on life experience,] the Soul acts more on his or her core nature.
The Soul is optimistic, but rather passive, lacking in motivation and decisiveness.
Ephemeral and a little timid, the Main Character ends up being pushed around by Tamamo, who grows into something of a villainess after acquiring the Regalia.
In contrast with the Mind’s wild passion, the Soul exudes a sort of cool sensuality that enraptures even Tamamo by presence alone.
He or she possesses the philosophical nature and acumen of a transcendent being who is unmoved by emotion.
Although he or she may seem fragile at first glance, the Soul can achieve a state of surprising clarity when faced with a decision.

The Body:
Master of Altera. Driven by instinct, he or she has an open personality that persists even on its own, without the presence of the Mind or Soul.
As well, without those two essential pieces, and despite being born from the same “root,” the Body has a stronger sense of physicality.
In a sense, the Body is in a unique, virtually blank state, which means he or she can naturally and impartially assess Altera’s character.
And so, even after being imprisoned by the Titan, the Body interacts her not as an enemy, but simply as a conversation partner. On those terms, the two begin to understand each other. Although in truth, for the Main Character, it’s love at first sight. The Body has no memories, and thus the default state is to continuously observe everything in sight.
Without memories, the Body is constantly pondering his or her identity, the unnatural state of his or her existence, and, by extension, whether he or she will eventually disappear.
But instead of being fearful, the Body is simply inquisitive, just like any newborn intelligent life form. His or her tendency to overthink is born of a single-minded desire to know who he or she really is.
Later, the Body learns, and comes to accept, that his or her fate is to disappear no matter what happens. With that mystery solved, he or she then focuses on releasing Altera from the cruel fate that awaits her.
In all other respects, the Body’s base personality is the same as the Mind.
The Body is both pessimistic and bold. At first, the Main Character is headstrong (tsun), but they show their weakness once they reach a certain point (dere). So they are tsundere.
The Extella series is made so that there is almost no difference between the male and female Main Characters, but the Body is an exception, and has clear differences.
The relationship between Titan Altera and the female Main Character is one of a fearsome alien deity and the pure holy maiden who worships her.
The reason we had the female Main Character’s new costume designed as a dress was purely so that we could emphasize that imagery.
