Melusine
Proper History
FGO Lancer (Lostbelt)

MelusineWP (メリュジーヌ, Meryujīnu?) is a Lancer-class Servant appearing in the British Lostbelt of Fate/Grand Order. Later, she is summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.

Profile[]

Identity[]

Melusine's other True Name is Fairy Knight Lancelot (妖精騎ランスロット, Yōsei Kishi Ransurotto?, localized as Tam Lin Lancelot).

Melusine defeating a young Percival

Melusine defeating Percival during a sparring session.

A member of Faerie Britain's Knights of the Round Table. She is a Fairy Knight assuming the name of the Heroic Spirit Lancelot, who belongs to the Proper Human History's Knights of the Round Table. The sole "dragon" species fairy in Britain. She acts in the manner of a merciless knight, but because of that conduct, her elegance and her appearance that distinguishes her from other fairies, she is said to be the proudest and most beautiful of them all.[1]

She is the left hand of the Dragon of Albion which fell off the dragon's rotting corpse. Her current humanoid form came about from trying to emulate Aurora when the Fairy Lord picked her up. Melusine claims she is the older sister of Percival. Percival says that they were raised and trained together.

"Melusine's not my real name either, you know. However, it is really precious to me."[1]

Her name as a Fairy is Melusine. A fairy transmitted in France, also called Melisande. In Proper Human History, the heroine from a story about a "human–animal marriageWP", which often became a theme of folklores since ancient times. A half-Human, half-fairy beauty possessing the lower body of a snake and dragon wings. A fairy born from a human father and a fairy mother. Originally a beautiful young girl, but due to committing the sin of imprisoning her father on a cavern, she received a curse that "turned her lower body into that of a snake only on Saturdays". Supposedly, the curse became more powerful after she was seen by her lover when her lower body had turned into that of a snake, causing Melusine herself to become a repulsive snake.[1]

Appearance[]

A young woman whose age based on her appearance would be around 16. She developed herself by copying the physical age of Aurora from when she met her and she can't grow further than that. (Meanwhile, Aurora took on the perfected form of a woman in her mid-twenties afterwards)[2]

Melusine has long, flowing silver hair that cascades down her back and frames her face with straight bangs. Her eyes are a piercing, golden-yellow eyes. She is adorned in a futuristic and ornate armor that is predominantly metallic blue with cyan and silver accents, featuring geometric patterns and glowing teal runes. The armor is sleek, with a high-tech aesthetic, covering her torso and arms, and includes thigh-high armored boots. She wields twin swords with intricate designs, matching the style of her armor. The blades appear sharp and lightweight, designed for swift strikes. The hilts have circular guards with the same teal runes as her armor.

Her concepts are Faerie Knight, Dragon, and faerie of water. There's an impression that the dragon's exoskeleton has become similar to a robot's armoring. While the other Faerie Knights are organic, Melusine is inorganic. Her pupils are also the eyes of a dragon so they possess a depth as if lenses were layered upon each other multiple times. Even though she is a Lancer, she is fundamentally empty-handed.

She has the image of a warrior who is strong just by being there and finds using weapons inelegant. When using her Noble Phantasm, the 'dragon skin' and 'dragon bones' that make up her outer skin are instantly formed into a blade as she attacks. After it has served its purpose, the blade evaporates in the form of dew.[2]

Personality[]

Withdrawn, but active. The type who gets things done, swiftly carrying out her duty while keeping her feelings concealed within. This maiden of a knight is a clean freak who does not play around, and is always cloaked in a tense atmosphere.

Since she classifies humans as something bad and mercilessly rejects them, she is thought of as a "cruel fairy", however, while she might shun humans, she does not detest them or consider them below herself. She simply perceives them as "life forms with individually low ability for survival".

Due in part to how she came into existence as a piece of rotten flesh, Melusine does not discriminate against others using "the mode of life one was born with" as a pretext.

When she is conducting herself as a Fairy Knight, her first person pronoun is "boku" and she has a prince-like demeanor; but when she returns to being Melusine, her first person pronoun becomes "watashi" and her natural personality comes out. Since she is originally someone who was "thrown away and left all by herself", she is prone to self-deprecating and easily succumbs to loneliness. Even after discovering the extent of Aurora's crimes and realizing she was nothing more than a tool for Aurora, she cannot help but continue to love her. Furthermore, if Aurora dies for any reason her name will lose its power and she will turn into Albion as a Calamity.

Since she recognizes herself as the strongest creature, her preferences aren't based on whether one is strong or weak. Compared to her, everyone is a "weakling", after all. People possessing "courage to oppose those stronger than them" are not the type Melusine will grow to like, but ones with "kindness to care for those weaker than them". Or rather, she'll fawn on them going "The strong are to be obeyed and followed. That is absolute. In other words, obey and follow me."[1]

A tragic knight who is fundamentally good, but because of her love for Aurora, she meets her doom. [2]

Motives and attitude towards the Master:

Basically, she maintains the same cool and dry demeanor and tone of voice she had back in the Land of the Fae. However, after being summoned by the Master (her destiny), while she might be 'a splendid and perfect knight dressed as a man in public', she turns into a 'super-duper dragon that's clingy and spoiled while retaining her cool and dry attitude when she is alone with Master'. But she will snap if you make a fool of Aurora.

Relationships[]

Morgan
"Her Highness Morgan. The witch who truly loved the Country of the Fae. ...As if I could shamelessly show myself before her. Even though I was fully aware of how foolish I was being, I pointed my blade at her in return for the favor I received from her."[4]
In truth, she knew about Morgan (Toneriko) from before the Queen Calendar started. However, back then she was nothing but a 'creature' so they never interfered with each other. Acknowledging her not as a 'Faerie of Paradise', but as Morgan, 'the Queen of the Land of the Fae', (despite Melusine being listless at heart) she serves her earnestly as a knight. "I'm surprised she could continue doing something annoying like ruling over the fae folk for two thousand years. Since Her Majesty has such strong perseverance, she would surely cover for me when I cause a problem one day!" With a carefree and innocent smile on her face, Melusine spills her true feelings to Master alone.[2]
Morgan (Swimsuit)
"Melusine: Your Highness Morgan, thank you for doing this for us! I'm really fond of this high-class hotel~! The private beach you added for my personal use is great as well!
"Barghest: What are you talking about?"[5]
Barghest
"I do not understand. Just why does Barghest hate me so much? Even though I wanted to be friends with her. I mean, look, isn't she cute like a large-breed dog?"[4]
Gawain might seem bold and arrogant, but in truth, she is faithful to the rule of the wilderness and even ended up falling in love with a human, someone of a different race; Melusine approves of her. Since Gawain is also top-class among the faeries when it comes to combat power, she took a liking to her as an opponent she could contend with. However, Gawain reaaaally hates Melusine's guts so they are destined to never get along.[2]
UDK-Barghest
"Ah~, thanks for your hard work~, Head Maid~. Wash my swimsuit after you're done cleaning the rooms~. Are you free tonight~? If you are~, let's meet up in the hall~. ──────I want to try taking a shot from your new armaments~."[5]
Baobhan Sith
"Baobhan Sith...Her Majesty Morgan's daughter and my colleague. I know she is a murderer with no due course, but I cannot denounce her for such foolishness. ...We are birds of a feather, after all."[4]
She's incompatible with the free and uncontrolled Tristan who breaks humans by treating them as toys. In simple terms, "their tastes don't match", but since Melusine is bad with words, she told Tristan she had bad taste, and from then on their relationship got worse. Tristan has been prejudiced against Melusine from the beginning. "I have more things I like than you. It's fun how I can get whatever I took a liking to" is what she told her, but in truth, since Tristan didn't know what true love (devoting yourself, hurting yourself) was yet, she found Melusine's appearance as she devoted everything to her 'love' unpleasant.[2]
Cait Cú Cerpriestess
"Cait Cú Cerpriestess? Isn't that Baobhan Sith mistaking this for Halloween?"[5]
Percival
"Percival! Thank goodness! So you were in Chaldea as w- Apologies, it would appear I got the wrong person... The Country of the Fae's Percival does not exist anymore. ...I knew it...I was fully...aware of it, but..."[4]
The only one in the Land of the Fae to reciprocate the 'true affection' she shared with them. Percival and Lancelot. The future of the Land of the Fae would have surely improved if these two could have lived together as siblings without being separated. Despite knowing this, the dragon could not betray her yearning for the star and her love plundered even her destiny.[2]
Lancelot (Saber)
"Lancelot, Knight of the Round Table! Yes, he's just as Her Majesty described: a humble, elegant, loyal, and magnificent knight! I'm proud to— Huh? Wait a second. Did I just see him and Sir Tristan do something that no married man should ever...Wait...is THAT how Her Majesty thought of me!?"[4]
Since Morgan said Lancelot was just right for her when Melusine received his name, she took highly of him while she was in the Land of the Fae. While she still evaluates his ability and achievements as a knight highly, her evaluation of everything else seems to have changed after coming to Chaldea. "And here I thought he was a quiet, composed, and unapproachable somber knight who would look good with an anguished look on his face. So this is what 'people are not what they seem' means." thus spoke Melusine while throwing herself on the bed in her third ascension form. Meanwhile, Master was doing their best to suppress the urge to go "Dragons are not what they seem either"[2]
Lancelot (Berserker)
"Just between the two of us, the darker Knight of the Lake is more my type. Remember that, Master. There isn't a fighter jet that wouldn't swoon at machine guns."[4]
Oberon Vortigern
"Melusine: Oberon...to think he would change into a swimsuit... I wonder if he can swim... ────Gasp! Don't tell me I'm the only one among the dragons that can't swim!? :Artoria Caster: That can't be the case, can it?"[5]
Senji Muramasa
He could endure my continuous attack in mid-air for 40 seconds despite being a humanoid type. Unforgivable.[2]
Koyanskaya of Light
"Koyanskaya...I'll overlook you as long as you are a Servant. However, if I see any signs of you turning into a juvenile Beast, I will fight you with all my might. Keep that in mind."[4]
Zhuge Liang
"So you're El-Melloi II. You seem knowledgeable in the British's Mystery of Proper Human History. Good. Tell me about them. How did Albion fare in your history?"[4]
Sieg
"Fafnir... A human that became a dragon... The old me would have driven him out. But I'll allow it now. Dragons can become people, so the opposite must be true."[4]
James Moriarty
"Moriarty... I'm not a fan of silver tongues, but... That Noble Phantasm is very much up my alley, to put it lightly. I wonder if we can install some extra wings on it..."[4]
Odysseus
"The Trojan Horse...? It actually dares to transform, too... I'm so jealous... All right. Let's have a race to determine who the greater fighting machine is!"[4]
Europa
"There's no overlooking Odysseus' horse, but Europa's Talos is nice, too. I can feel a warmth and humor in its design. I like that. I enjoy seeing different genres than my own."[4]
Kiyohime (Swimsuit)
"Kiyohime has a swimsuit too~? Since she's a dragon from the East and she's familiar with the sea as well...is she that Otohime person?"[5]
Kiara Sessyoin (Swimsuit) and Kama (Swimsuit)
"The Third Beasts are all wearing swimsuits~? Chaldea's really...hm? That thing that looks like an enormous shellfish is actually a drag on? The depths of the sea are an even greater den of monsters thain the sky, huh..."[5]
Suzuka Gozen (Swimsuit)
Britomart
"One can't underestimate the Faerie Knights of the Pan-Human History either. To me, Britomart's armor is the pinnacle of fantasy. This is how a faerie should be. Britomart herself is very excellent too with her frankness...Like I thought, it's the wind, she's like the wind."[5]
Mysterious Heroine XX
"No way!? That armor is made of the same material as my armour and its manufacturing technology is even greater than mine...!? Mysterious Heroine XX...just where the hell is this dragon from...?"[5]
Minamoto-no-Tametomo
"Moon Gunner Tametomo...I like it. If he were to be destroyed, I'll take over his main armament...it would be without permission though."[5]
Captain Nemo
"Did you see, Master~! That steam-powered catapult! You can tell that it's not an electromagnetic one at least, right? The fact that it rotates to launch you is so good too~! "Well, it's not strange for a battleship to have fighter jets" is what the Captain said, I think? Even though Captain Nemo looks like that, he is still a boy inside, right~"[5]
Servants with mechanical flying units
Melusine is always boasting about being the greatest flying unit on this planet, but that is because she wants to act as the senior. Anyway, while she might be eager to assert her dominance in terms of performance, that is not to belittle the opponent. Regardless of the opponent, after their aerial battle, she feels a sense of camaraderie towards them as fellow 'conquerors of the skies'. ────The feeling's very one-sided.[2]
Europa / Odysseus / Tenochtitlan / Takasugi Shinsaku
"A giant robot...I wonder if I could pull it off too if I turned my Saint Graph into a luminous body. Still, for the frame to be so large, that's rather...embarrassing, no?"[5]
Kukulkan
"I have no intentions of getting along with invading lifeforms...but I can't say no to Kukulkan when she comes to challenge me to a contest. Well, it seems like more than half of the Earth has been naturalized already, right? She is the best to have as a rival. She is worth overtaking."[5]

Role[]

Fate/Grand Order[]

Fae Round Table Domain: Avalon le Fae[]

Contrary to Barghest and Baobhan Sith, Melusine is beloved by the Faeries of the Lostbelt and they call her the proudest as well as the most beautiful of Morgan's Fairy Knights.

She would battle Senji Muramasa after he had defeated Fairy Knight Tristan and Fairy Knight Gawain.[6][7][8][9] She later fights Mash Kyrielight and Cú Chulainn during Morgan's army's attack on Sheffield.[10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][3][19][20][21]

Melusine rain

Melusine sobbing to herself in the rain after hearing Aurora's harsh words about her.

It is revealed that six years ago, Melusine massacred the Mirror Clan on Aurora's orders. However, she was horrified when she found out that the Mirror Clan were pacifistic faeries, and upon returning and hearing Aurora's harsh words about her as well as calling Melusine a "monster", sobbed to herself in the rain. Despite this, she continues following Aurora.[22]

Melusine enters Aurora's room from the bell tower. Aurora asks Melusine to take her to the outside world now that Britain's end has come. She believes the Proper History will serve better to create her ideal world, considering humans to be weak. Melusine realizes Aurora will only repeat her actions for the sake of her purpose to be the most beloved of all. She then asks Aurora where Coral is. Aurora recalls she transformed her into a caterpillar for irritating her, and she squashed her underfoot a few moments ago. Melusine then stabs Aurora, refusing to take her to the outside world. She understands Aurora could never be loved there as the inhabitants of the Proper History would see her for the poison she is. Aurora will only deteriorate and suffer in despair as she slowly dies in such a world. Because she loves her, Melusine doesn't want that to happen to Aurora.  She then stabs Aurora again, even though she understands Aurora's death means she'd return to her original state, and transforms.

Melusine Albion

After she kills Aurora, her name loses its power, causing her to lose her identity and revert to the form of Albion. However, Percival's sacrifice is able to restore her sense of self, and she saves Chaldea from being consumed by Oberon Vortigern.[23][24]

Abilities[]

Aurora and Melusine

Melusine assumes her Fairy form when meeting Aurora for the first time.

Melusine is a creature formed from the Dragon of Albion's left hand.[16][4] Originally, she didn't have muscles, bones, or even cilia to transport cells. She was nothing more than a bunch of cells, which makes Da Vinci theorize that she must have been like an AmoebaWP. However, after meeting Aurora, she assumed her new Fairy form akin to a Heroic Spirit.[16] While her love for Aurora maintained her form for a time, her body started showing signs of anomalies a hundred years ago. Before she reverted to her old self, Morgan turned her into Fairy Knight Lancelot. Melusine is an airborne fighter and not a knight.[3] Due to this, Human swordplay only slows her down,[3] which makes her gifted name a hindrance.[16][3] However, Melusine chooses to act as a Fairy Knight to maintain her Fairy form.[3] Furthermore, since Melusine is no longer a Phantasmal Beast, she cannot be absorbed and turned into a Lost Tail by Tamamo Vitch Koyanskaya.[16]

Melusine is regarded in the British Lostbelt as the undefeated Dragon Fairy. According to Morgan, no Servant comprised of a Heroic Spirit from Proper Human History can hope to match her Fairy Knight.[11] Melusine is stated numerous times to be the strongest Fairy Knight.[6][12][22][25] While she is considered to be the strongest creature in all of Fairy Britain by Fairy Knight Gawain,[6] numerous other characters disagree.[14][15] Cnoc na Riabh regards Woodwose, and not Melusine, as Morgan's most powerful guard and an opponent more troublesome than the Fairy Knight.[14] Woodwose also claims to be the strongest warrior in all of Fairy Britain.[14] Furthermore, Spriggan believes that Woodwose is the only person capable of defeating Morgan.[15] It isn't until Woodwose seemingly dies in battle that Ritsuka Fujimaru and Percival call Melusine the "strongest Fairy".[15][3] Melusine claims that she could be considered the most "beautiful" if you value function over form, but true beauty has nothing to do with combat ability.[16]

Combat[]

Melusine's primary weapon is the Fairy Sword Arondight. Although it shares the name with Lancelot's sword, it isn't a real Holy Sword.[21] But rather, a weapon made from her skin and crystallized Magical Energy.[21][4] It rapidly expands once she draws it out, so she only bares the blade for an instant. It can be thought of as a point-blank ranged attack. Thanks to it, Melusine is good at both skewering and slicing her enemies.[4]

Melusine is the fastest Fairy in the British Lostbelt.[25] Due to this, she excels at aerial combat and is confident that nobody can beat her at it. She can also nullify air resistance, so she never slows down.[4] According to Leonardo da Vinci, Melusine's incredible air mobility makes her just as fast and agile as the records of Enkidu from Seventh Singularity,[12] who surpassed 500 km/h.[26] Melusine is too fast for even the Wind Clan Fairies to track.[10] Tamamo Vitch Koyanskaya Weapon also admits that Melusine is a natural counter to her shrine. While she plans to repay her for what happened in Fairy Britain with a missile barrage, her maneuvers are so strange that she can't get a lock.[27]

Melusine is capable of defeating multiple enemies on her own as shown when she took out a huge group of Moss with ease or when she exterminated the Mirror Clan.[11][22] Melusine also claims that she could destroy Cnoc na Riabh's army on her own,[3] which consists of 30,000 troops.[11] According to Melusine, the only Fairies who could fight her on even terms are Morgan and Barghest in her enlarged Fairy body. She claims that the enemies that she needs to be wary of are the Ritsuka Fujimaru, Fairy Knight Galahad, Senji Muramasa, Grimm the Wise, and Percival. However, she believes that she can handle them all on her own, too. Although they are all fairly good fighters, none of them can match her in the air. On the other hand, Da Vinci states that Artoria Caster powered by six Bells of Pilgrimage was so powerful that she would be fine if Melusine were to attack her. Grimm the Wise also states that Artoria Caster, Super Mash after regaining her memories, and Ritsuka Fujimaru, are the only ones who can hold their own against Melusine, implying he and Muramasa can't.[3] Muramasa believes that Grimm, Mash, Fujimaru, and himself could take down Melusine if they all worked together. However, they would probably lose one or two without Artoria's protection.[20] Melusine defeated Gareth with a single hit to the head, which took out one of her eyes.[18]

Melusine's physical capabilities, Magical Energy level, and time, surpass Lostbelt Percival in every way.[13] However, Percival managed to put a good fight against her during the "Tournament of Robin" making Morgan stated that he had proved himself equal to a Fairy Knight.[6][12] According to Woodwose, Percival would have won if he had used Lost Longinus.[14] During the attack in the Welsh Woods, Percival fights Melusine again. This time, Melusine couldn't fly as fast as she normally does due to all the trees getting in her way. Percival claims that is the only reason he could hold out against her as long as he did.[12] Even with this drawback, she was still too fast for Human eyes to follow. While Percival could anticipate her moves, he was too slow to guard against them. However, Percival was still durable enough to take at least one of her hits, and Melusine was surprised that his arm was still attached afterward.[13] In the night before the assault on Camelot, Percival admitted that while he may not be able to defeat her, he swears to at least keep her busy until the battle is over.[3] After Cnoc na Riabh's coronation, he also claimed that he could handle her on his own. After Melusine withdrew, Percival said that he was taking a calculated risk, and that he doesn't know what we would have done if that hadn't worked.[20]

Before regaining her memories, Fairy Knight Galahad was able to go toe-to-toe with Melusine.[17] After fighting and holding her off for a while, Mash's strength started to fade away due to her attacks being ineffective. While Melusine initially believed that Mash's shield was something special, she later claimed that the Round Table's protection is useless against her, as her Mystery is just too powerful for it. Totorot says that Melusine was a bad matchup for Mash because she was just too strong. Thanks to Grimm the Wise's intervention, Mash escaped. While Grimm initially claimed that he wouldn't survive a fight with Melusine, he ultimately did.[10] After regaining her memories, Mash was able to block a surprise attack from Melusine and she claimed that it didn't hold a candle to the real Lancelot.[20]

When Senji Muramasa tried to kill Morgan, Melusine flew in out of nowhere and knocked him out of the throne room. Muramasa tried to fight her off in mid-air, but she just swatted him down into the great pit. Although it took him less than 10 seconds to be dumped down there, Lancelot managed to hit his Spiritual Core several times. A normal Servant would have probably died twelve times. However, Muramasa is an exotic Alter Ego that has been tempered by the Alien God and infused with two Divine Spirits. It took him three days to get to the point he could move enough to crawl up and out of the hole.[8] Melusine commends Muramasa, as it was a well-fought battle, and wishes to have a rematch.[15]

MelusineVSMuramasaAndGrimm

Melusine fighting Muramasa and Grimm.

It was speculated by Grimm the Wise that Melusine had never fought at full strength up to the battle of Camelot. During this battle, Grimm and Senji Muramasa were tasked with keeping her occupied while everyone else infiltrated the castle. Melusine recognizes them as worthy opponents and states that it would be a waste to hold anything back against them. She says that finding a good rival is hard, especially when you are one of the strongest creatures to ever exist. With the support of a few Servants summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru and supplied with Grimm's Magical Energy, Muramasa eventually destroys Melusine's visor.[19]

Fairy Knight Tristan claims that all Melusine has going for her is speed.[8] Similarly, Boggart also states that Melusine is like a bee: all speed and no power, and implied that he could easily take her down if his soldiers managed to pin her down.[10]

Melusine with her Fairy Knight gifted name disabled destroyed the Spiritual Core of Tamamo Vitch Koyanskaya's sixth tail with Arondight.[16]

Skills[]

Class Skills[]

  • Territory Creation (B+ Rank): Since she inadvertently changes her resting place into 'a murky forest lake' regardless of what land or world she's in, she is treated as someone with a high-rank Territory Creation skill.[2]
  • Fairy Knight (EX Rank): The divine protection of being chosen as a protector of the fae folk. A geass for a Fairy. It's a self-strengthening specialized for Anti-Unit and Anti-Civilization, but it forbids attacks against other 'Fairy Knight' and a Faerie Knight that kills another Faerie Knight will destroy themselves.[2]

Personal Skills[]

  • Dragon Heart (B Rank): It refers to Melusine's Magic Circuit, which is called the Dragon's nucleus or the dragon's jewel. It is an excessive manifestation of bioenergy that is classified as "Mana Burst" in the Proper Human History. Melusine, who reconstructed herself as a "draconic Fairy", possesses the same biological functions as a dragon despite not belonging to the dragon species.[1][2] An outstanding skill capable of providing a powerful attack buff, damage cut, increased max HP, and increased NP generation.[2]
  • Eternal Arms Mastery (B Rank): A skill copied from Heroic Spirit Lancelot of Proper Human History. Regardless of one's mental state, they will be able to fully display the combat techniques they have mastered. Combat experience that has been engraved into one's body from excessive training...is what could be said about this, but it's a skill that isn't that necessary for Melusine who was born strong. Melusine hates the existence of this skill. Creatures who were strong since birth do not need techniques.[1][2] Considering the fact that she was summoned as a Servant by Chaldea, she transformed Eternal Arms Mastery into her unique skill 'Peri Dancer' afterwards, going "It's nice to have something like the techniques of a human since it also makes me heroine-like!"[2]
  • Ray Horizon (A Rank): From the anecdote of the Dragon (mirage) protecting the "horizon" or "boundary" that serves as a gate to another world passed down in England. In the end, Melusine is just her name and vessel as a "fae folk" and her original role is to be the "boundary" itself. ...This is the process for Melusine to transform into her original form.[1][2] Its effect varies depending on her ascension: in her first and second ascensions, it generates a massive amount of mana and changes the performance of her Noble Phantasm to AoE; in her third ascension, it significantly increases her Noble Phantasm's power and turns her invulnerable by wrapping her up in the 'dimensional boundary line'.[2]

Noble Phantasm[]

As Fairy Knight, Melusine's Noble Phantasms is Innocence Arondight. It is a spear version of Lancelot's Arondight. It may not deal an incredible amount of damage, but the trade-off is an incredibly rapid cooldown, allowing this Noble Phantasm to be deployed as casually as a normal attack.[1][2] To Melusine, this is not her own Noble Phantasm but something she borrowed from Lancelot (an imitation of his Noble Phantasm), and that's why its damage isn't that high (why she isn't serious).[2] Ritsuka Fujimaru is impressed by her ability to rapid-fire her Noble Phantasm.[16]

Forms and alternate versions[]

Original Form[]

« A dragon's shadow that appears as the gatekeeper for the land of hope. The white and red dragons conflict, yet they are identical. »

(Fate/Grand Order - Simple Spiritron Dress summary.)

Melusine's Final Ascension is her original form and the airframe that burned Fairy Britain to ash.[4] As the Red Calamity, it's called Red Hot Deviation (赤熱偏位?, localized as Redshift Heat).

Abilities[]

In this form, Melusine claims to be the fastest when her wings are out. She can accelerate past the Sound barrier in 0.3 seconds.[4]

Noble Phantasm

In this form, Melusine's Noble Phantasm changes to Hollow Heart Albion. Melusine used it to kill several Moss that formed a Magical Energy level as high as the Calamity of Norwich, if not higher. Melusine was the only one capable of burning them away permanently because they were formed from Albion's rotten corpse.[16]

Dragon of Albion's Remnant[]

Dragon of Albion's Remnant (アルビオンの竜骸?, localized as Dragon Corpse of Albion), is the form Mélusine as the Red Calamity prophesized by Ainsel.[23]

Appearance[]

Since Melusine is only the 'left hand' that separated from the ancient Dragon of Albion and survived, she can not return to Albion's original gigantic form even when she transforms into a Dragon. A mobile weapon that is 4 meters in length at best.[2]

Abilities[]

Despite her small frame, Dragon of Albion's Remnant is an ultra-high-performance SupersonicWP flying bomber. Servants have been compared to fighter jets in the past, but Melusine's Albion form is 'a fighter jet capable of Interstellar travelWP on its own.[2] Its body bounds off the Magical Energy in the atmosphere, so its acceleration isn't affected by atmospheric pressure or air temperature. In fact, its wings ignore the laws of inertia completely. Due to this, it can fly and flit at speeds surpassing Mach 2. According to Captain Nemo, the Storm Border can't outmaneuver it. They barely dodge its charge, taking a few scratches on the prow. However, they are able to match its second charge by accelerating to maximum speed.[23] Melusine respects the Storm Border and claims that it was rather impressive, although she was holding back against it.[4]

Combat

During the British Lostbelt, Super Mash and fatigued Percival were able to make Albion's Remnant withdraw. However, before it could escape, Percival decided to finish it off. Although the Dragon struck him several times, Percival was able to counterattack and finish it off with Lost Longinus. This attack pierced Albion's heart and knocked it out from the sky.[23]

Noble Phantasm

Melusine's Noble Phantasm is her dragon breath Hollow Heart Albion.[2] By releasing a concentrated Mana Burst straight from her mouth, she produces a fire thermic ray powerful enough to cleave the ground with heat alone. According to Captain Nemo, nothing short of a Divine Construct should be able to scratch the Storm Border's armor, let alone shred it. However, a single impact from the dragon's breath to the starboard stern quarter was able to carve through their physical defenses like paper, burning away the armor plating and exposing the interior hallways. A direct impact to the stern would have destroyed the whole engine, bringing down the entire ship. Nemo is able to dodge the same attack later on by unfurling the gravity sails to maximum and pitching the ship upward 2 seconds before impact. Artoria Caster after ringing all six Bells of Pilgrimage and returning from the Site of Selection was able to block Melusine's rays for a few minutes using a Anti-Purge barrier.[23] Before Melusine died for good, she was able to open a hole in the already collapsing Insect of the Abyss big enough for the Storm Border to escape.[24]

Swimsuit[]

Abilities[]

Class Skills
  • Territory Creation (- Rank): By using the sky as her bed (nest), she broke away from the special characteristic of turning her resting place into a "dreary forest lake".[28]
  • Fairy Knight (C Rank): The divine protection of being chosen as a protector of the fae folk. It's a self-strengthening specialized for Anti-Unit and Anti-Civilization, but it forbids attacks against other "Fairy Knight" and a Faerie Knight that kills another Faerie Knight will destroy themselves. ...However since they are on a vacation right now, it has weakened considerably.[28]
  • Riding (B+ Rank): Since Melusine can fly in the air, she does not "ride" anything, however, as a highly mobile combat Fairy, she possesses the Riding skill. Her newly-installed wings (Faerie Pack) are her "vehicle".[28]
Personal Skills
  • Faerie Pack (A Rank): No one should get injured or get into an accident in a resort. After all, it would spoil Melusine's vacation with her lover. The super-strong dragon who claims to be able to read the mood does not only boast of her strength; she also transformed her wings into ones that are mainly used for combat/relief activities at the sea. In addition to her menacing mobility, she can also rescue (protect) those in need, you know.[28]
  • Azure Sky Arms Mastery (A Rank): She can perfectly display the combat techniques she has acquired without getting unsteady even on the sandy beach. Its base values are lower than that of her Lancer version's "Peri Dancer", but it surpasses it on the beach, on the water, and in the sky.[28]
  • Blue Horizon (B Rank): For a conqueror of the skies, the horizon of the land and the horizon of the waters are not that different. Albion's outstanding ability to convert Record Belts carved into the "Boundary" into Spiritrons. A combination of the effects of the first, second, and third Saint Graphs of her Lancer version's "Ray Horizon" (obviously, its output has been reduced).[28]
Noble Phantasm

Melusine Undine's Noble Phantasm is Sprite Albion. An all-out attack from Melusine who took off from the Storm Border after replacing her externally deployed armaments from the Faerie Pack to the Dragon Pack and unleashed her full firepower on the target.

Development[]

Creation and Conception[]

Melusine was designed by CHOCO in Fate/Grand Order. Her scenario writer is Kinoko Nasu in Fate/Grand Order.

Comments from Illustrator[]

"Melusine's forked eyebrows. When I read the setting I was given, I found her to be like a soul with dual natures so I chose this design in order to portray two emotions at the same time like 'crying while angry'. There are many emblems and markings on her armor and casual wear, as well as her dragon form, aren't there. Even if her origin is a dragon, she's a fleeting existence that was born from a swamp in the end. If she does not keep defining 'who she is' with her title as a knight, the name she was given, her relationship with her Master, and her markings, or if there is no one to keep loving her, she won't be able to maintain her form and return to the mud. The humble me who just came up with that proper-sounding reason is a samurai who really loves those caution signs printed on industrial goods." (CHOCO)[2]
