Ishtar Ashtart (イシュタル・アシュタレト, Ishutaru Ashutareto?), Class Name Avenger (アヴェンジャー, Avenjā?), is an Avenger-class Servant Universe Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Identity[]
Space Ishtar, also known as IshtarWP AshtartWP (イシュタル・アシュタレト, Ishutaru Ashutareto?), is the fusion of Space Ishtar and Ashtart the two Alter Ego's of the Ashtart Origin. Just like her Origin, Ishtar Ashtar is a Primordial Goddess. The difference is that whereas Ashtart Origin is stuck in the past, Ishtar Ashtart embraces the old ways of love and hate while accepting the new order.[5]
A Divine Spirit Servant reborn as a Servant to live new experiences in the Shining Blue Galaxy. Space Ishtar is the newest model among the real goddesses in the Servant Universe. Since she is a Venusian goddess, created by the anciant Venusian civilization rather than a Goddess of Venus, as in the Venus observed by the Earthlings, from an Earthling perpesctive she's very much an alien.[2]
Components[]
Ashtart - 1st Ascension[]

Space Ishtar - 2nd Ascension[]
- Main article: Space Ishtar
Appearance[]
Just like Ashtart and Space Ishtar, Ishtar Ashtart looks younger than Ishtar and Ereshkigal.[1]
In this form, her hair is pink, with the underside of her hair glowing blue. She keeps the six head spikes from Ashtart, as well as the black and red ribbons from both components. She wears a quilted red coat with a red fur collar, gold stitching, decorative spikes, roses, and draconic features, a golden heart chain around the collar, and a glowing blue underside with a silver circular pattern. She wears a similar bodysuit to Ashtart as well, however, it's completely red with gold and black braces, red straps, gold buttons, a red folded vest, and glowing blue lines on both sides of the waist. Her torso emanates an orange light up to her neck, and at her heels, there are cracks revealing more of this light. Her left eye is golden with her pupil white and shaped like a star. Her right is is the same, but with a white circle instead. And finally, there is a circular golden symbol on her forehead, similar to her other counterpart's Command Spell. At her side is Ananna, a transparent red orb, with two blue spikes pointed from its top and bottom halves, thin gold circles that allude to orbiting planets, and a group of orange and yellow circles inside that alludes to galactic clusters.
Her appearance as a goddess that awakened to an even greater extent. Ishtar doing a classic final boss-like move that was unlikely to happen. In this form, she can bring out the Bel Maanna.[3]
Personality[]
Ishtart Ashtart is is "Space Ishtar's" transcendent aspect. "As seriously yet roughly as possible" is a trick to get along with the goddess.[2]
An outlaw, yet a heroine of justice. She acts like the bad guy, yet everything she does is for the sake of others, which puts her in an interesting position. She is aware that she is supposed to be a threat to humanity, and so her alignment is Evil, but it doesn't mean that she is a villain or that she is wicked. [2] She has pretty much the same personality as Ishtar from Proper Human History, but she does not try to toy with others for her own entertainment. [2]
She will proudly acknowledge anybody's good deeds as being in the right while praising them in secret, and she will glare at anybody with hatred for doing bad deeds while deriding them in public.[2] (And if that person is a villain, she will not hesitate to squeeze out every last ounce of their fortune, lifeforce, and fate).[2]
Like Ishtar, Space Ishtar has a free-spirited personality, and she looks down on human society's cruel and thoughtless nature. Despite that, she takes the livelihoods of people into consideration while looking out for those with better natures, and she ultimately prioritizes everyone else's welfare above her own personal rewards. She's the polar opposite of Ishtar.[2]
For example, during the Summer Race, Ishtar did not hesitate to sacrifice others to restore Gugalanna to regain her Authority. If the same situation happened with Space Ishtar, she would have reflected on her actions and then personally destroyed Gugalanna and divvyed up its resources amongst the participants.[2] "Well yeah, I would feel like kicking and screaming because it would be such a big waste, but I would feel that I had to do that! You know, I just can't lie!"[2] As you can see, she is essentially Ishtar, but at the very last second she does the right thing...[2]
In other words, Space Ishtar is the sort of goddess who would make the regular Ishtar look bad.[2]
The personality of a transcendental being. Her lines are more machine-like and lacking in emotion. She is the cool and mysterious-chan kind. While it might be difficult to put emotions into her lines, she is "the protector of humanity, the goddess born for humanity's sake" resulting from the union/fusion of the first and second ascensions. She is of the "kind on the inside even if her tone is cold" faction. However, she has a very sharp tongue when she goes on angry rants. Her designation as a "Threat to Humanity" is gone due to having changed to the side that protects humanity.[3]
Relationships[]
- Ishtar and Ereshkigal
- "It appears that there are different, derivative forms of me in this universe. A goddess of beauty, the mistress of the underworld...both are impressive. I never fail to impress myself...No, wait a minute. What's the meaning of this? Why are they more mature-looking than me!?"[1]
- Female Foreigner Servants
- "There appears to be a visitor from a different universe that didn't exist in the Origin Universe. They seem harmless, but I'll be sure to send them back to whence they came from if they cause any trouble."[1]
- Mysterious Heroine XX
- "Is she a Foreigner...? Should the knight selected by the spear at the end of the world look so random and haphazard? By the way, that spear really hurts..."[1]
- Calamity Jane
- "Jane...a member of the hero team that defeated me in the past... After I was defeated, you took care of me? So just how old is she, really?"[1]
- ■■■■■■■■
- The legendary Servant who is said to have destroyed the ancient Venusian civilization, a mysterious civilization that flourished on Venus after the "Sapphire Galaxy" came to be, in a single night. "I didn't mean to do that. I just extended my solo karaoke session by 3 hours." is how the person in question insisted. They might fight one day. Or maybe not since the genres (Space Opera and Tokusatsu) are different.[3]
- ■■■■■
- The Wandering Star advancing through space has existed since the "Primordial Universe" and their existence has been confirmed even after it became the "Sapphire Galaxy". The Wandering Star passes through various galaxies, capturing and preserving superior species to use them as their next purging weapon; it is said Ashtart Origin's sphere of intelligent life has also suffered harm from this.[3]
Motivation/Attitude towards Master[]
She is curious about the existence of a “Master”, who can make a contract with and order servants despite being a human.[3]
“Wha- there's such a position in that world!? Even though you’re a human, aren’t you amazing!?” While recognizing humans as “weak creatures”, she is honestly impressed by the way they can communicate with servants.[3]
Although she doesn’t respect her Master, she perceives them as “something important”. “If it's within my range of interest, I’ll listen to what you say (heart)”. She smiles devilishly.[3]
As she comes from a different universe/different world, she tries not to emphasize with Master more than she needs to, but since her heart’s guard (love flag) is weak, it’s promised that she will go off track.[3]
Because normal Ishtar is so friendly, S. Ishtar feels more like “the big sister from next door”. Though since she keeps her distance like a stranger, her big sister from next door feeling decreases. Instead, the feeling of her as “someone who is just out of your league but shining nearby” is strong.[3]

Battle in New York 2019[]
- Main article: Space Ishtar (Battle in New York 2019)
Saber Wars II[]
Ishtar Ashtart appears in the Saber Wars II event.[5][6]
Abilities[]
Ishtar Ashtart is a newborn galaxy fruit of the two sides of Ashtart Origin's heart reuniting. She is a brand-new star, born five billion light-years away from her Origin. Having reached the same scope and scale than her Origin, Space Ishtar is also a conceptual universe and a Primordial Goddess. Because they are both the same concept, with the same Saint Graph, springing from the same source, their powers are exactly the same.[5]
Without a man-made shrine like Dark Maanna, even regular Space Ishtar and Calamity Jane's power is not enough to cross the barrier between dimensions. However, with Ishtar Ashtart's Primordial Goddess power, it was possible to teleport Ritsuka Fujimaru back to Chaldea.[6]
Combat[]
Ishtar Ashtart uses a red orb with blue spikes called Ananna, which can extend, that she telekinetically move to atttack her enemies. Its are capable of being shot as projectiles. She can use the orb to create explosions of red energy, or multiply them to fire laser in a circle formation. Ishtar Ashtart also is adept at fighting in hand-to-hand combat, being able to use superpowered kicks to annihilate her opponents.
Theoretically, a battle between Ishtar Ashtart and Ashtart Origin could only end in a draw. However, because Ishtar looks ahead to the future, contrary to Ashtart Origin, who is stuck in the past, she is able to slowly overwhelm her in combat. During the Saber Wars II incident, Space Ishtar asks for Calamity Jane to use her Noble Phantasm and Ritsuka Fujimaru to further support her with Command Spells. Thanks to their combined efforts, she manages to blast Ashtart Origin a whole ParsecWP away. Space Ishtar finishes her off with a special bullet half the size of the universe she had made just for her.[5]
Ishtar Ashtart states that Mysterious Heroine XX's lance really hurts a lot.[1]
Components[]
When summoned as a Servant of Chaldea, Ishtar Ashtart is able to manifest the different Divine Spirits forming her Saint Graph depending on her Ascensions. Each of them has their own capabilities and personality:
- Ashtart - 1st Ascension: Ashtart (Servant Universe)#Abilities
- Space Ishtar - 2nd Ascension: Space Ishtar#Abilities
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Magic Resistance (C Rank): Invalidates magic below C rank. Her high magic resistance as an Archer-class cannot be displayed in the Servant Universe.[3]
- Independent Action (C Rank): Space Ishtar was born as a goddess, raised as a Human and awakened as a Servant. Since she doesn't consume Magical Energy to manifest, she doesn't need a Master.[2]
- Divine Core of the Goddess (A++ Rank): A skill symbolizing that one has been a perfect goddess from her birth. It possesses the effect of preserving the absoluteness of the mind and the body. It repels just about every kind of mental interference while preventing the body from growing and the figure from changing no matter how many calories are intaken. It is also a composite skill that comprises the Divinity skill.[3] Because Ishtar inherited the core of the “Ancient Goddess of Fertility and War”, the prototype of many goddesses similar to Ishtar…… Ishtar, Astarte, Anat……its rank is almost at its highest.[2]
- Avenger (EX Rank): Once a great goddess whose anger caused sadness and suffering praised by the devil. "I can't make excuses when I look back." This goddess who admits herself as evil while standing the side of justice (order) is somewhat disqualified as an Avenger. In the Old Testament, this goddess was called “Astarte”, and it was a collective name for the fertility goddess and the Gentile goddesses, but this name, which was born from the Old Testament, was later regarded as the devil (Astarot) in Western Europe.[2]
- Oblivion Correction (A Rank): People are creatures that forget many things, but Avengers never forget. Love and hate from the distant past that humans cannot perceive. Her act of venting her anger on the humans who have forgotten her past majesty and authority, or rather, her iron hammer against injustice, becomes incredibly powerful.[3]
- Self-Replenishment (Mana) (B Rank): S.Ishtar's Magical Energy endlessly surges until her revenge is accomplished, until she feels refreshed. The nature of the "Goddess of Origin" who got excited all on her own when left alone and arbitrarily started a final war had become a skill without any changes.[3]
Personal Skills[]
- Devil's Sugar (A Rank): The true devil who uses the power of "seduction and excitement" while not falling to the devil. S.Ishtar's smiles and thrown kisses improves the morale of allies, ignoring the burden on the body and withdrawing past the limit. Since the charm (curse) already mesmerized an ally, it is invalid against the enemy. It can be said to be a devil's Charisma that combines the aspect of the goddess of victory and the aspect of a demon that destroys people.[2]
- Venus Driver (B Rank): Something that moves Venus. Or something that moves beauty. The protection of Venus improves the power of Noble Phantasms and freely changes their attributes. A Skill suitable for "Primeval Goddess" derived from other goddesses.[2]
- Multiple Sterling (EX Rank): Just one big crown. Derived from the goddess that became the origin of Ishtar, the crowns of the various "Queen of Heaven" goddesses overlapping to return to their full form.[2]
Noble Phantasm[]
Her Noble Phantasm is Edin Shugurra Quasar.
Forms and Alterante Versions[]
Battle in New York[]
Although Gilgamesh says Space Ishtar is nothing more than the ordinary Ishtar he has known since the Age of Gods,[7] she is actually the ruler of the Shining Blue Galaxy and the goddess of Venus who came from the Origin Universe, the Founding Stars.[7][8] Also referred to as Ishtar Ashtart, she is known through the Servant Universe as the goddess of creation. She is the crimson goddess who bears Shugurra, the crown of the empty plains of Edin. The young, wild quasar who ruled the ancient past from on high.[7]
She appears in the Battle in New York 2019 event, and greatly differs both in personality and appearance from the Space Ishtar and Ishtar Ashtart seen in SABER WARS II. Dumuzid states Space Ishtar is nearly identical to regular Ishtar, however, he sensed even more primeval vibrations in her. Gilgamesh says he seemed more reminiscent of how she was during the Age of Gods, making him wonder if she was a clone of Inanna.[7]
Role[]
Battle in New York 2019:
Space Ishtar usurps control of the tournament from Gilgamesh, turns the inhabitants of New York into gems, and begins stealing all the wealth in the city.[8] During the tournament finals she starts the battle as Archer and switches to Avenger halfway. Everybody is convinced she is the normal Ishtar just putting on an act until she dies, after which even Gilgamesh is shocked silent until the regular Ishtar shows up in her swimsuit complaining that she thought the tournament was in California. As the tournament closes down and everyone begins to return to Chaldea, Dumuzid comments that this is not the last they have seen of Space Ishtar.[7][9]
Abilities[]
Space Ishtar believes herself to be the strongest servant, and accepts Gilgamesh's challenge, taking over his tournament to determine who is the strongest Heroic Spirit.[8] Mysterious Heroine XX refers to her as a cosmic demon, and says she just let her go free because she thought she'd turned over a new leaf. Gilgamesh curses the Holy Sword wielder, saying it is her duty to deal with mongrels from outer space.[9] Dumuzid states Space Ishtar officially qualifies as a threat to humanity.[7]
Space Ishtar has access to a huge flying temple/spaceship named Maanna.[8]
Space Ishtar is defeated by Gilgamesh, Mash Kyrielight, and Ritsuka Fujimaru.[7]
Mysterious Heroine XX is surprised Space Ishtar was able to reach Earth from the Servant Universe. She says that servants from their world aren't usually summoned unless there's some serious threat to the entire universe, or something on that level. She speculates that a servant from the same setting may have paved the way for her, although she discards the idea saying that would be silly.[9]
Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Ishtar Ashtart was designed by Shidzuki Morii in Fate/Grand Order.[3]
Ishtar Ashtart was written by Kinoko Nasu in Fate/Grand Order.[3]
Comments from the Illustrator[]
Fate/Grand Order material X[]
"According to Space Ishtar's initial setting, there was only one character, and the trend was that said one character would transform through ascension. However, in the settings of the character that I received, there were 3 characters: a good, an evil, and a space-like one. Since they each had parents and their own personal histories, I ended up imagining the lives and lifestyles that each of them have built up so I did not want to omit any of them which I told Nasu-san as well. That there are 3 characters, aren't there. And that's how we ended up with around 3 characters. In terms of the direction for the design, for her first ascension, I expanded the image from her countenance when she was a mimic in "hollow". The second one is in the style of a free-spirited bounty-hunter cowgirl pairing up with her partner Jane, and the third was designed with a not-so MADE IN JIGOKU feel. Since the three are identical yet different characters, I paid attention to making them appear as their own existences even if they were to be lined up next to each other so it wouldn't feel like the character was simply changing her outfit. The ribbon is the same as the one worn in "EXTRA". I asked Hirai Yukio-san to design the Maanna spaceship that flies through the galaxy. I'm so grateful to him... At first, we were going to go with a gigantic spaceship like in Independence Day for the Goddess Temple, but god-knows-how, it ended up with the form of a giant goddess."[3]
Chaldea Breakroom[]
"There were a lot of unique aspects to [Space Ishtar] that were created for every Ascension level (though that was not the initial plan), and her designs were based on each of these. For her first Ascension form, I made it so that her coloring was primarily black to emphasize her darker aspect. For her second Ascension, I received very clear design directions from Nasu-san, so I designed her in a cowgirl outfit that would complement her partner, Calamity Jane. Her third Ascension retained her [darker] aspect, but I also wanted to incorporate some elements that seemed extraterrestrial, inorganic, or conceptual, with a sprinkling of mythological components, and topped it off with some spacey details. I have very fond memories of going through the entire design process, and I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to work on Space Ishtar's design." [10]
