Tree of Fantasy (Opening)

Fantasy Tree

A Fantasy Tree (空想樹, Kūsōju?, localized as "Tree of Emptiness") is a mysterious tree-like construct which sustains a Lostbelt.[1]

Characteristics[]

Originating from the Alien God's seeds,[2] the Fantasy Trees appear to be integral to the Lostbelts. They contribute to the Lostbelts overwriting the Proper Human History, a phenomenon called the Filtering Outsider Phenomenon (濾過異分子現象, Roka Ibunshi Genshō?, localized as "Felling Theoretical Phenomenon").[3] For this purpose, the tree recognizes the highest authority within the Lostbelt and grants them certain Authorities to reshape the Lostbelt's environment and expand its domain by interfacing with the local Leylines. If the Fantasy Tree of a Lostbelt is destroyed, the Lostbelt itself crumbles as well.[1]

The trees are extremely tall, extending far above the clouds and up through the stratosphere. Due to their immense height, they have also been referred to by the term Cloud Tree.[1][3][4] They can even be seen outside the Wall of Storm, appearing like pillars of light.[5] Its branches somehow interact with each other, forming a network between the trees with which it is easy to check if a tree is either active or it was cut out.[6]

As the Fantasy Trees mature, they are able to shoot Fantasy Tree Seeds (空想樹の種子-, Kūsōju no Shushi?, alternatively referred to as the 'Seeds of Fantasy') as a defense mechanism in case they feel threatened or are under attack. These seeds are each infused with a vast amount of Magical Energy and have bodies harder than stone. They are autonomous, can hover off the ground, and can give off inhuman shrieks, and fight aggressors using teleportation, a piercing energy beam fired from their 'head', using their own bodies as a drilling projectile, a self-healing ability, and emitting a close-range explosion of energy.[7][8][9] By themselves, the trees are pretty hard to destroy and Chaldea have no means to strike them down unless they take advantage of the circumstances leading to their weakening.[1][10][11]

A full bloomed Fantasy Tree is able to cause space-time distortions by warping the gravity in the vicinity and emit a massive quantity of heat and gamma rays due to them having a reenactment of a galaxy within.[12] It's said that such amount of released energy can be used to incinerate the planet akin to Goetia's plan.[11] Their intended purpose besides sustaining a Lostbelt is to expand their branches upon the entire planet, absorbing the Mana of the Earth and the cosmic radiation trapped in the magnetic field and converging them into the single spot, which will be the Alien God's descent place,[6] with the Tree itself becoming the vessel for the Alien God, allowing it to exist on the planet.[13]

In her report to Kirschtaria Wodime, Ophelia Phamrsolone hypothesizes the blank period between when a Lostbelt was pruned and when it was “replanted” in the present day takes place within each Tree. She suspects the Trees take the point that a Lostbelt’s history is pruned and simulates what would happen if that history had continued on from that point. The Trees thus effectively prove that history’s existence and project the result onto the planet’s surface. If Ophelia's hypothesis is correct, that would mean the Trees are essentially creating history. Not even a Chief God who once ruled the planet could wield such Authority on Earth in the present day; as Ophelia notes, the Trees can support multiple Divine Spirits and even living Gods and their concomitant Authorities in modernity, calling into question what exactly the Alien God actually is.[14][15]

Fitting their unearthly origin, the Fantasy Tree designations appear to be derived from astronomical objectsWP, such as star systems and galaxies.

History[]

At the end of 2017, around the same time as the assault on Chaldea, several mysterious objects descended from the sky on an unnatural vertical trajectory. It is believed the Earth's surface was rendered white, turned into a 'blank slate' when the Fantasy Trees impacted and manifested the Lostbelts,[2][16] but further research suggests the bleaching happened not afterwards but before the rooting,[17] and didn't begin with the trees but started from the Area 51.[18]

During the time in which the Lostbelts were woven onto the planet's surface, the Crypters which had been assigned to the Lostbelts carried out their task of nurturing the trees and building up the foundations of their domains. After the three month long process, they prepared to compete against one another to decide which Lostbelt would survive to form a new history and a new world. At the same time, the survivors of Chaldea, who had previously escaped into Imaginary Number Space aboard the Shadow Border, resurfaced in order to fight back against the invaders.[3]

Fantasy Trees[]

Orochi[]

Fantasy Tree OrochiWP (空想樹オロチ, Kūsōju Orochi?) was the Fantasy Tree of the Russian Lostbelt, supervised by Kadoc Zemlupus.[1] Its chosen king was Ivan Groznyi.

At the time of Chaldea's arrival, Orochi was the only Fantasy Tree to have not properly taken root and started budding.[19] As Ivan refused to use the Authority he been granted over the tree, given that the tree originated from a foreign god, and didn't permit it to interfere with the ley lines, Kadoc and his Servant Anastasia sought to depose him, so Anastasia could assume his Authority over the tree.[1][20]

They eventually succeeded in overthrowing Ivan with assistance from Chaldea and Anastasia had the tree begin to spread its roots, shortly before their defeat at the hands of Chaldea's forces. After Anastasia's death, the tree began to emanate a huge quantity of Mana that, according to Da Vinci, was close to True Ether and could revert the logic of the planet back to the Age of Gods if the tree wasn't stopped. Chaldea moved to destroy the activated tree, but while they were able to silence it, they weren't able to fell it. Instead, it was destroyed by the Priestess of the Alien God. Afterwards, the pseudo-Holy Grail left behind in the remains was collected and stored in Mash's shield.[1]

Fantasy Tree Orochi's Saint Graph Designation is Rider in Fate/Grand Order.

Sombrero[]

Fantasy Tree Sombrero

Fantasy Tree Sombrero.

Fantasy Tree SombreroWP (空想樹ソンブレロ, Kūsōju Sonburero?), also known as the Scandinavian Fantasy Tree (北欧の空想樹, Hokuō no Kūsōju?), was the Fantasy Tree of the Norse Lostbelt, supervised by Ophelia Phamrsolone.[10] Its chosen king was Scáthach-Skadi.

Unlike Orochi, Sombrero had spread its roots and was releasing seeds, though Scáthach-Skadi wasn't able to fully make use of her Authority over it and the tree's capabilities, due to having to maintain the seal on Surtr.[10]

After Surtr broke free of the seal, he absorbed the tree in order to regain his lost power. Following Surtr's defeat, the tree was left in a weakened state, which allowed Chaldea to destroy it.[10]

Fantasy Tree Sombrero's Saint Graph Designation is Caster in Fate/Grand Order.

Mayall[]

Fantasy Tree Mayall

Fantasy Tree Mayall

Fantasy Tree MayallWP (空想樹メイオール, Kūsōju Meiōru?) was the Fantasy Tree of the Chinese Lostbelt, supervised by Hinako Akuta. Its chosen king was Qin Shi Huang.

Having invaded from within the existence who holds the biggest Mystery in the Chinese Lostbelt, the Fusang Tree, it used it as a seedbed to root itself into the Leylines of the land and to harvest a large amount of Mana while remained unseen in the internal dimension of the Fusang. Its existence and purpose were hidden by the Crypter, who didn't want the First Emperor to involve China in the current war upon learning the truth, until Koyanskaya removed the concealment and revealed to Qin the affairs of the Lostbelt. In the final battle, due to Hinako being considered a Xian, who were beings originated from the Fusang and Mayall inheriting the mythical tree's properties, the Crypter let the Tree to absorb her Saint Graph so she can possess and awakening it, making it fully bloom. With Qin's assistance, Hinako was expelled from it before disappearing at the hands of Chaldea.[12]

Fantasy Tree Mayall's Saint Graph Designation is Assassin in Fate/Grand Order.

Spiral[]

Fantasy Tree Spiral

Fantasy Tree Spiral.

Fantasy Tree SpiralWP (空想樹スパイラル, Kūsōju Supairaru?) was the Fantasy Tree of the Indian Lostbelt, supervised by Scandinavia Peperoncino. Its chosen king was God Arjuna.

Standing amidst the reenactment of the poisonous water of the Ocean of MilkWP, it was activated by Ashiya Douman to support the Lostbelt King in the final battle against Chaldea. Due to the former using his Authorities over the tree to draw enormous quantities of energy from it in order to sustain his capabilities, the tree was greatly weakened in the process. After a fierce battle against the Crypter and his Servant, Chaldea managed to successfully destroy it.[11]

Fantasy Tree Spiral's Saint Graph Designation is Assassin in Fate/Grand Order.

Magellan[]

Olympus

Fantasy Tree Magellan

Fantasy Tree MagellanWP (空想樹マゼラン, Kūsōju Mazeran?), also known as the World Tree of AtlasWP (アトラスの世界樹, Atorasu no Sekaiju?) was the Fantasy Tree of the Atlantic Lostbelt supervised by Kirschtaria Wodime. Its chosen king was Zeus.

With its branches and roots covering the entire planet, it was chosen as ideal place for the Alien God's descent.[6][21] However, Kirschtaria secretly tampered with it, summoning the Titan Atlas and hiding it within to prevent the Alien God's descent. Simultaneously, a large-scale spell would unleash the Ether stored in Magellan meant for the Alien God to create a new World Texture that will ascend humanity to that of human-god hybrids. Kirschtaria's plot was prevented though when Beryl exploited the Trees' network to infect Magellan with his dying Fantasy Tree.[13]

Naraka Mandala[]

Subspecies Fantasy Tree NarakaWP MandalaWP (亞種空想樹地獄界曼荼羅, Ashu Kūsōju Jigoku-kai Mandara?), formerly named OnriedoWP Castle (厭離穢土城 (おんりえどじょう), Onriedo-jō?), was the name of the Fantasy Tree of the Heian-kyō Singularity manufactured and supervised by Ashiya Douman using the vast quantity of Mana resulting from the sacrifices of both humans and Heroic Spirits gathered through his Holy Grail War's imitations and rendered with curses.[22][23]

It was partially manifested in the events of the Shimosa Singularity as Onriedo Castle by using the Toke Castle as its foundation, but it was destroyed before the necessary sacrifice for its completion could take place. Despite being in a world that was a a rift between dream and reality and thus should not have an effect on humanity, with the summoning of Onriedo Castle by Amakusa Shirou's Reality Marble, the events of the world would switch from dream to reality and become quite real. If it was able to fully take root in that world and activate its curse, not only would it destroy that world, but threaten to destroy many other worlds too, including the world of Chaldea.[24][25]

According to Holmes and Da Vinci, if Douman's schemes were turning that Shimosa, a land that was supposed to be pruned yet somehow survived, into a Subspecies Parallel World (亜種並行世界, Ashu Heikō Sekai?, localized as "Pseudo Parallel World") or perhaps more accurately a Subspecies Lostbelt (亜種の異聞帯, Ashu no Ibuntai?), then Onriedo Castle, as something akin to the Fantasy Trees within the Lostbelts, could be considered a Subspecies Fantasy Tree in turn.[22] It would be something that is both a Singularity and a Lostbelt[22] due to being a Fantasy Tree growing in 1008 AD, Heian period Kyoto from Proper History. Due to this, the city will become a different world, while at the same time be taking root in Proper History and destroying the future.[26]

In the events of the Heian-kyō Lostbelt, the Tree successfully managed to descend upon the Ancient Kyoto, take root and bloom with only half of the Heroic Spirits' souls needed to fully activate and invade the Pan-human History,[23][26] releasing its seeds to distract Chaldea's forces and get time for its completion.

Limbo's original plan was to use the gathered energy to create a vessel for his own "Alien God" by turning Ibuki-douji to into a host for the Beast-class Yamata-no-Orochi, but upon recalling the events of both Russian and Nordic Lostbelts, he concluded there was no need for two kings in his Lostbelt and, by sacrificing the Divine Spirit to the Tree, he fused with the Naraka Mandala to empower himself in an attempt to become an Evil of Humanity, failing in the process due to him lacking the necessary requirement of holding some form of love for Humanity to achieve said designation. Angered and unable to stand Abe-no-Seimei mocking him for his failures, he decided to use its vast power to reduce everything in the Lostbelt and beyond it to ashes instead,[27] but the Tree was successfully cut down by the Golden Huge Bear wielding Ibuki's Kusanagi Sword before he could carry out his schemes.[28]

Seyfert[]

Fantasy Tree SeyfertWP (空想樹セイファート, Kūsōju Seifāto?) was the Fantasy Tree of the English Lostbelt supervised by Beryl Gut. Due to Kirschtaria's worries about the Alien God having a body born from the Mysteries of Britain, he asked his fellow Crypter to take it down.[6][29] But after Morgan took over the Lostbelt, the Tree was burned down and its energy was absorbed by her. Under the Queen's control, Beryl took advantage of Seyfert's destruction and the Tree's network to burn Magellan from within.[13]

After Chaldea made their way into the British Lostbelt, the remains of Seyfert could still be seen in the horizon of the Lostbelt's territory.

The Lostbelt's Fantasy Tree was dead long before it was burned down, Morgan having done so 2017 years ago from the present at the start of the Queen's Calendar. She would cast a great Magecraft on the Fantasy Tree to make it wither, then used the magical energy of the Tree turn the Lostbelt into a Singularity - a Fantasy into a Reality -[30] through Rayshifting within the Lostbelt itself, sending her information to the version of her within the Lostbelt.[31] By turning a Lostbelt into a Singularity and killing her Fantasy Tree, she changed the history of a Lostbelt and made it everything after the tree's death "real", a new history capable of comparing to Proper Human History, transforming it into a "Lost World"[32] sustained through the vast magical energy in her Summoner's Throne from her "existence tax" on the lifeforce of her fairies.[33][34][35]

However, as a Singularity, by correcting the original divergence point of its history, the origin point and foundation of the Lostbelt - in this case, the original "Holy Sword" not being forged - then the Singularity will be resolved and eventually the Lostbelt's contents will never have existed without its Fantasy Tree to sustain it. Consequently, should this Singularity merge with Proper Human History, then its history would become part of Proper History - in this case, Proper History will lack the Concept of the "Holy Sword", Excalibur.[36][37][38]

Quasar[]

Fantasy Tree QuasarWP (空想樹クエーサー, Kūsōju Kuēsā?) was the name of the Fantasy Tree of the South American Lostbelt supervised by Daybit Sem Void. Upon arrival, Chaldea is unable to detect any signs of a Fantasy Tree within the South American Lostbelt. This is because ORT devoured the tree, 6 million years ago and copied its attributes into itself, essentially turning it into a living, walking Fantasy Tree.

After absorbing the Fantasy Tree, the Crystal Valley created by ORT has now become an invasive species that transforms the plants of the earth into 'Fantasy Trees' and creates an environment suitable for itself. A galactic hell created in the depths of the earth, The Sea of Fantasy Trees.

Waxing Moon[]

Counterfeit Fantasy Tree Waxing MoonWP (贋 作空想樹盈月, Nisesaku Kūsōju Mitsuru Tsuki?) was the name of the Fantasy Tree of the Edo Singularity manufactured by the Count and is supervised by Ushi Gozen.
