Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files {Rail Zeppelin} Grace note (ロード・エルメロイⅡ世の事件簿 -魔眼蒐集列車(レール・ツェッペリン) Grace note-, Rōdo Erumeroi Nisei no Jikenbo -Magan shūshū ressha(Rēru Tsepperin) Grace note-?) is an anime adaptation of Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files novel. After TYPE-MOON teased a new animation project, produced by studio TroycaWP, a TV anime special episode "Episode 0" for the series was aired on December 31, 2018, during the Fate Project Ōmisoka TV Special 2018. The full anime TV Series was broadcasted from July 07, 2019 to September 29, 2019 .[1] It adapts the "Rail Zeppelin" case of the Light Novel, while including anime original content.[2]

Story[]

As Lord El-Melloi II, he takes on numerous magical and mystical cases in the Clock Tower, the mages' mecca... Based on the popular novel by Makoto Sanda, this incredible story has finally been made into a new animated series. In this series, the fan favorite “Rail Zeppelin” arc will be featured as well as original episodes that will lead to the arc.[3]

Characters[]

Adaptation Differences[]

  • The anime gives Gray a crush on Waver that she did not have in the novels.
  • Kairi Sisigou is a member of the cast. He never appeared in any of the light novels.
  • Luviagelita Edelfelt, Flat Escardos and Svin Glascheit have minor roles during the Rail Zeppelin case. In the light novels, they did not appear during this story arc.
  • Jean-Mario Supinerra's role is greatly reduced.[4] In the light novels, he was one of the passengers on the train.
  • Svin's graduation is moved to after the Rail Zeppelin case.[5] In the light novels, it was after the Twin Towers of Iselma case.[6]
  • Melvin Weins is introduced earlier, and the explanation for how Waver borrowed money from him happens earlier as well.[7] In the light novels his introduction was his arrival on the train, and the explanation did not happen until he was already aboard.
  • Fernando Li is a passenger on the Rail Zeppelin.[8] As he is an anime-original character, he naturally was not on the train in the novels.

Music[]

The soundtrack was composed by Yuki KajiuraWP.

  • Opening Theme:
  • Ending Theme:
    • "Hibari" (雲雀?) by ASCAWP

Kajiura also composed the opening and ending themes, "starting the case: Rail Zeppelin" and "Hibari". "Hibari" was sung by ASCA. The song "You Were My King" which plays in the final episode is a softer piano remix of "You Are My King", Iskandar's theme from Fate/Zero.
