The Fourth Singularity (第四特異点, Daiyon tokuiten^?) is one of the seven singularities manifested by Beast I during the Human Order Incineration Incident. Located in 1888 AD London, its Humanity Foundation Value is A- and Barbatos is the Demon God designated to it. It was the fourth of the seven singularites visited by Chaldea Security Organization in the undertaking of the Grand Order to restore Earth and the Human Order.

The events of Chaldea's visit to this Singularity are covered in the fourth chapter of Observer on Timeless Temple, Death World in the Demonic Fog City(The Mist City): London (死界魔霧都市(ミストシティ) ロンドン, Shikai Mamu Toshi(Misutoshiti) Rondon^?). It has the subtitle Londinium Knight (ロンディニウムの騎士, Rondiniumu no Kishi^?).

Setting

Commanded by Solomon, Makiri Zolgen, Paracelsus von Hohenheim, and Charles Babbage join together to destroy the era regardless of their lamentations towards the incineration of humanity. They proceeded to invade the Clock Tower through its entrance in the British Museum, which was destroyed in the process, and kill all of the mages there to remove any opposition. After his group created a chamber deeper underground, Babbage constructed a massive steam engine dubbed Angrboda, which uses the Holy Grail as its power source. Angrboda then released a magical fog, referred to as Demonic Fog, on to the city's populace over the past three nights. Any person that breathed in the fog would have magical energy drained with various degrees of effectiveness depending on the fog's thickness and their predisposition. While gas masks protected those in the thinnest parts of the fog, though such equipment is rendered useless in the thickest fog as it drains a person's magical energy unto death. An estimated amount of several hundred thousand died as a result of the Demonic Fog cause people to stay indoors. This also left entire areas to be abandoned; the east end be nearly gone by the time of Chaldea's arrival. As well, over the past three days, the streets were soon flooded by a myriad of monstrosities. Helter Skelters, one of the dangerous forces that roam the streets, were created from Babbage's Noble Phantasm, Dimension of Steam. Furthermore, London became isolated from the rest of Britain due to the government being hindered, resulting in a dwindling supply of food and water. In addition due to the fog being powered by the Holy Grail, several Servants began materializing from it.

The Singularity also created distortions that resulted in individuals who should be dead to appear in the era as living beings, such as Henry Jekyll and Frankenstein. The distorted persons will also have their memories distorted to believe they're still alive. Jekyll would go on to form an information network with collaborators from all over London, Victor Frankenstein being a member, in an effort to save London. He soon met Mordred, who had materialized from the fog, and the two formed a partnership, with her doing the field work, to save London.

Prelude

Within the Singularity, in 1888 AD, a desperate and dying woman runs through a fog-covered London from an unknown, child-like pursuer. The pursuer refers to the woman as their mother, before killing her.

In present day Chaldea, Ritsuka Fujimaru is awoken from a nightmare of these events by Mash Kyrielight, and the two head to the Command Room for their next briefing with Dr. Romani Archaman. Dr. Roman relays the results of his latest task - observing the era of King Solomon for anomalies. Dr. Roman had found no Singularities or anomalies present, leading the team and Leonardo Da Vinci to decide that the beings calling themselves "the 72 Demon Gods" are, in fact, unrelated to King Solomon, and were summoned from a different era.

However, Mash posits the possibility that King Solomon may have been summoned as a Servant to another era by another Master, accounting for the discrepancy. Dr. Roman is skeptical, still believing that King Solomon would never agree to such a scheme, as Chaldea's Summoning System relies on the Master and Heroic Spirit agreeing to a voluntary contract. Da Vinci confirms this, as Chaldea's third successful summoned Heroic Spirit by its previous director - the second being the Heroic Spirit within Mash and the first being unknown to all except the previous director.

Roman hypothesises that the previous director's accidental death may have been a murder by the jealous and traitorous Lev Lainur, while Da Vinci continues to probe at the suspicious nature of the 1st Servant's summoning based on the summonings that came after. She believes the 1st Servant's summoning to have been accidental or a failure, as successful summonings and the Fate system were only proven with the Servants that came after, but Roman cuts her off before she can go any further.

Dr. Roman briefs Mash and Ritsuka on their next task - the Fourth Singularity, in the 19th century Industrial Revolution, closest to modern times, centred almost entirely on the city of London, a contrast to the widespread nature of the previous Singularities. With a final request from Roman to obtain Sherlock Holmes' autograph (Mash having to remind the doctor that Holmes is a fictional character, outing herself as fan of his works), the pair begin their Rayshift, and the next step of their journey.

London: The City of Demonic Fog

The pair (and Fou) successfully Rayshift into an unusually fog-covered and deserted London, 2:00pm, with the ring of light seen in previous Singularities still visible above them. Roman immediately notes that while fog in 1888-era London is not unusual, the fog currently permeating the city is saturated with Magical Energy, and poisonous to humans and normal life-forms.

Mash is unaffected by the fog due to her nature as a Demi-Servant, but Ritsuka is revealed to also be immune to the fog's effects - they hypothesise that the Servant within Mash possesses a skill that allows them to resist poison, which they dub "Poison Resistance (Temporary)", with Mash's connection to Ritsuka allowing them to share its benefits. They deduce that the fog has turned London into a city of death, with all civilian survivors forced to seal themselves indoors to stay alive, resulting in the city streets appearing deserted.

Suddenly, they are confronted by a woman clad in armour, who notes their ability to resist the fog (while apparently doing so herself). Roman, unable to discern the woman's nature due to interference from the fog, tries to consult help from Magi☆Mari. Noticing their lack of aggression, the woman decides to leave them alone, but gives them parting advice to stay on the move before heading into an alley.

The heroes choose to follow her to learn more about the Singularity's nature, but are quickly attacked by a group of hostile entities - automata, animated by Magecraft - and fend them off. Noting that the automata do not seem to enter buildings, and that Roman will not be able to give advance warning due to the fog's interference, they continue onwards.

Knight of Londinium

Ritsuka and Mash fight their way past more groups of automata, and interestingly, basic, hostile homunculi - artificial humans animated by magecraft, before eventually running afoul of a hostile, enormous mechanical golem, far larger than any human. After defeating the robotic giant, Mash sends Roman images of its exposed mechanical parts for analysis, noting that its metal parts seem to be strangely corroded, as if by acid.

Before they can discuss further, however, they are ambushed by an enemy child-like Servant. The Servant notes that the pair are able to resist both the fog permeating London and the Servant's own "fog", and Mash deduces her identity as the notorious London serial killer - Jack the Ripper.

Ritsuka and Mash manage to fend off Jack, who retreats into the fog. Roman's analysis discovers that part of the fog during their fight is likely from Jack's Noble Phantasm, distinct from the magical fog covering London. They realise that their memories and records of Jack have been altered as part of its effects - erasing Jack's identity and nature, even from Roman back in Chaldea.

They return to analysing the mechanical golem's remains, but the woman from earlier arrives again, claiming the golem is called a "Helter Skelter". The woman states that she decided the pair were not enemies form watching them fight, recognises Mash as a Demi-Servant, and formally introduces herself as Mordred, Knight of the Round Table, offering to share information.

The Demonic Fog Laughs

Mordred takes the team to a hideout in a London apartment, where they meet her ally Dr. Henry Jekyll. Despite being a fictional character from literature, Jekyll claims to be a living human of the current era, who worked in London as a scientist before the fog descended. After meeting and allying with Mordred, they formed a partnership, where Jekyll conducts investigations while Mordred goes out and acts as muscle. Roman is unable to detect a Servant presence in Jekyll, and they wonder whether he was the model for the literary Jekyll.

The group share their information in regards to the Singularity - the fog, dubbed "Demonic Fog", has descended on London each night for the past three nights, resulting in several hundred thousand dead and multiple areas of London being wiped out. In addition to the fog, multiple hostile threats plague the streets under cover of the fog - automata, homunculi, the Helter Skelters, and Jack the Ripper. The city is rendered isolated with no external support, and will not last much longer.

Agreeing to ally with Mordred and Jekyll in fixing the Singularity, they set up a Terminal Point in the apartment, luckily placed over a natural leyline, while Da Vinci gives a lecture on Servant class affinity, and hidden Servant traits such as Heaven, Earth, Human and Star.

Afterwards, Jekyll sends Mordred, Ritsuka and Mash out for their first assignment - protecting one of Jekyll's collaborators, the Swiss scholar Victor Frankenstein, evidently the grandchild of the mage that inspired the original novel character. Frankenstein, a member of Jekyll's information network, had been unreachable since the morning.

As they fight their way through the city, Mash questions Mordred as to her motives for saving London, and she reveals that, as the Knight of Treachery, she cannot allow London to be destroyed by anyone other than herself. Despite her twisted motivations and asking them to never broach the topic again, she assures them that she will let them have the Holy Grail, cryptically noting that "someone worthy of being the owner" has finally appeared, confusing Mash.

Victor Frankenstein's mansion

The group arrive at Victor's mansion, only to find that they are too late, and Victor is dead. They confront his murderer, still at the scene - revealed to be the psychotic demon Caster, Mephistopheles. He reveals that Victor was killed by blowing himself up, after refusing to join the cause of Mephistopheles' employers. Avoiding his bomb-like Noble Phantasm, the team battle and defeat Mephistopheles.

Investigating Victor's mansion, they discover via a note that Victor had uncovered a malevolent plot behind the Singularity known only as "Project Demonic Fog", led by unknown leaders titled "P", "B" and "M", likely Heroic Spirits. Speculating whether Mephistopheles is "M", Mordred also discovers another creation left by Victor - the living artificial human, Frankenstein's monster, who they nickname Fran. Despite being unintelligible, Mordred is able to understand Fran, and they decide to bring her back with them to Jekyll's hideout.

One Book, One Pen

Back at Jekyll's apartment, after an unintentionally invasive examination, Jekyll concurs that Fran is a living (artificial) human of the current era, despite the monster's original fate in the novel. He informs the team of a new case in Soho from his info network - a strangely large sentient book, which he dubs a "Magical Tome", that slips into buildings and assaults civilians, unlike the other common enemies in the fog.

Mordred, Ritsuka, Mash and Fou set out for Soho, leaving Fran with Jekyll. As they fight their way to Soho, Mordred tells the pair stories of battling Phantasmals in her old life, as well as the apparently alien-like Picts (Ritsuka and Mash believe her to be joking, but Mordred claims she is not). Seeing that Mash is holding herself back, Mordred spontaneously decides to duel with Ritsuka and Mash to force her to better accept her role and strength, Mordred hinting that she knows the Heroic Spirit within Mash.

En route, Jekyll manages to patch a comms connection through Roman's channel, updating the team that the Magical Tome attacks civilians by sending them into an unending sleep, getting into buildings even through closed doors. Jekyll points the group to an antique bookshop, where an informant is waiting.

Inside the bookshop, they encounter Jekyll's informant - a very disgruntled, abrasive, unusually deep-voiced boy. The "boy" explains that the Tome has already attacked the elderly shopkeeper of the bookshop, and the Tome itself is still in the building, in the study next door. The team confront the "Tome" and lure it outside to better fight it, but find their attacks are ineffective. The "boy" reveals himself as Caster, renowned fairy-tale author Hans Christian Andersen.

Through a series of patronizing insults, greatly aggravating Mordred, Andersen reveals that the "book" is, in fact, a form of Reality Marble - a "Servant" that projects the psyche of its Master. However, as a Stray "Servant" that manifested without a Master, it began attacking civilians in search of a new Master, putting them to sleep in hopes of using their dreams to manifest as a Pseudo-Servant.

As a clump of Magical Energy without form or substance, it is unable to be damaged. However, Andersen forces the Tome to take a physical form by ascribing it a name - A Tale for Someone, Nursery Rhyme. The Tome, now named "Nursery Rhyme", unexpectedly materialises into the form of a young girl - the Tome's Master from another era, named Alice, who is not present. Now vulnerable, the team battle and defeat Nursery Rhyme, putting an end to her threat.

In the aftermath of the fight, Andersen chooses to come back with the group to Jekyll's apartment to escape the ire of the bookshop owner, much to Mordred's annoyance.

Helter Skelter

At Jekyll's apartment, Jekyll informs the group of Jack the Ripper's re-emergence as Andersen settles in, placing Scotland Yard under siege. Mordred and Mash recalls their previous encounters with Jack, and her alteration of their memories.

With Andersen staying behind with Jekyll and Fran, the team rush through enemy forces to Scotland Yard to assist, with Mash carrying Ritsuka to speed them up. Along the way, Roman recounts Mordred's history as the Treacherous Knight who betrayed and eventually killed King Arthur. In addition, Roman brings results from Da Vinci - the Helter Skelter is not a golem or magecraft construct, but a true steam-powered machine made with unknown technology that doesn't exist in present day.

At Scotland Yard in Westminster, the team confronts Jack, finding once again they are too late - the Yard has already been wiped out completely. With Jack is an unknown Servant: a Caster, who openly reveals himself as "P", one of the three masterminds behind Project Demonic Fog, who decimated the Yard to obtain something they needed. "P" laments that his own power cannot save humanity from incineration, and so has turned against humanity in the belief that nothing can stop its destruction. He sends Jack to attack the group, claiming that her "mother" might be among them to entice her.

After a protracted battle with Jack and "P", Jack is defeated for good, and disappears. "P" voices that he wishes to be ended at their hands as an evil defeated by heroes, but in order to fulfil his own duties first, he suddenly teleports away. Without the use of a Command Spell, Mash and Roman deduce that he may have escaped using the Holy Grail's power.

Elsewhere, "P" meets with in his fellow leaders, "B" and "M". While they lament briefly the loss of their assets Jack and Mephistopheles, "M" notes that the project remains unaffected, and they must proceed onwards with their work - as Servants must obey their Master's words. "B" notes that as scholars, they must pave the way for civilisation, but with civilisation incinerated, they are no longer bound by that responsibility.

London Night

The team return to Jekyll's apartment, greeted by Andersen. Andersen reveals that he and Nursery Rhyme manifested due to the Demonic Fog itself, without a Master or summoning ritual, with Mordred being the same.

Based on the previous eras, which had Stray Servants that spontaneously appeared due to the Grail's influence, they conclude the Demonic Fog was created by the Holy Grail, or something made by the Grail. Andersen subtly nudges Mordred into acting on this information, and setting out on a late-night patrol with Ritsuka and Mash to the edge of the city area, with the aim to find and capture "P".

While out on patrol, the group defeat roving groups of homunculi on their way to the edge of the city, with Mordred wishing to fight tougher enemies. They eventually encounter Caster William Shakespeare, a Servant spontaneously summoned by the Demonic Fog, confirming Andersen's theory.

Suddenly, "P" arrives, having intended to procure Shakespeare for his own cause. It is revealed that "P" has been rounding up Servants summoned by the Demonic Fog for their cause one by one, forcibly "adjusting" them so they work to expand the fog further. "P" reveals his True Name as Paracelsus von Hohenheim, the great alchemist who sought the True Ether, and engages the group in battle, along with a Helter Skelter.

Paracelsus is finally defeated, and wishes the heroes good luck on their path to carve out the future of the world as he disappears. With one of the three enemy leaders defeated, the heroes recruit Shakespeare to their cause.

One More Mystery

Early in the morning after Paracelsus's defeat, Mordred, Mash and a sleepy Ritsuka go on patrol once again. They encounter and defeat unusually large waves of automata and Helter Skelters, Mordred noting the enemy must be getting serious after the loss of a key leader. Returning to the apartment, they inform Jekyll of the situation and settle down, along with the now-partnered author Servants. Andersen, having learnt about the Singularities from Ritsuka, notes one particular detail that has been bothering him - the nature of the Holy Grail War ritual.

Amidst the sudden outbreak of Helter Skelters, Andersen asks the team to run an errand for him: to help him gather data for his theory from the Clock Tower, the academy headquarters of the Mage's Association situated under London itself.

However, Jekyll and Mordred reveal that they had previously investigated the underground entrance to the Mage's Association, in the British Museum. They discovered the Museum was completely sealed off and demolished, likely due to the leaders of Project Demonic Fog crushing any possibility of resistance. Andersen is undeterred, stating that the records left behind will still be of use to him. Andersen, Shakespeare, and unexpectedly, Jekyll decide to join the mission, with Fran staying behind to watch the apartment.

The Death of the Mage's Association

As the party head for Regent Park, Mordred questions whether it is safe for the human Jekyll to come along, but Jekyll assures Mordred that he has an ace up his sleeve. Fighting their way past Helter Skelters, Roman asks Jekyll for details about the Mage's Association, notably revealing he has never been to the Clock Tower.

The party arrive at the ruins of the British Museum - the only building deliberately destroyed in the Singularity. Andersen demands the group begin digging, as the facilities lie underground, but they are suddenly attacked by sentient spell books emerging from the ruins, akin to Nursery Rhyme in Soho.

Fending them off with the help of Mordred and Shakespeare, Jekyll surmises that they are grimoires once stored in the Mage's Association and transformed by the Demonic Fog. Luckily, the emergence of the books reveals a path underground, and the group descend into the dark corridors of the Mage's Association.

Within, they fight past more books and Helter Skelters previously sent to destroy the facility, and eventually reach what Andersen is seeking - a warded and unblocked entrance to a library. Andersen tasks the others with guarding the door while he and Jekyll investigate the library.

Hordes of books and Helter Skelters begin assaulting the party one after another, while Jekyll and Andersen are delayed by the books being warded, preventing them from leaving the library and forcing Andersen to read the reference he needs manually. The team is nearly overwhelmed by the seemingly endless assault, with Shakespeare exhausting his magical energy. Jekyll decides to leave the library and join the fray.

He reveals his ace-in-the-hole - a special elixir that he injects into himself, transforming him into Mr. Hyde, Jekyll's psychotic alter ego with power and madness akin to a Berserker. The crazed Hyde fights off the latest wave of enemies together with the team, buying enough time for Andersen to finish his decoding as Hyde turns back into Jekyll.

With Andersen's task complete, they escape the Mage's Association before more enemies arrive. Back at the apartment, Andersen thanks the team for their assistance and reveals his findings: namely, that the original Holy Grail War ritual originally created in Fuyuki, and upon which Chaldea's summoning system is based, to summon Heroic Spirits forced into Servant bodies and classes in order to fight each other, was in fact itself based off an older, original ritual involving Heroic Spirits.

The older ritual: Heroic Spirit Summon, was a spell intended to pit Humanity's seven strongest Heroic Spirits against a single powerful enemy, which was then distorted into the Holy Grail War used in Fuyuki onwards.

Andersen additionally reveals that an unknown party had reached the library before them, having predicted their coming, and organised the data they needed before they arrived, speculating as to whether they are a surviving Mage or perhaps a Servant.

Opportunity

Before their discussion can continue, however, they are interrupted by Roman, who has detected an unusually large group of Helter Skelters surrounding the apartment. Mordred, Mash and Ritsuka are sent out by Andersen to drive them away.

Afterwards, Roman gives an update of his analysis into the Helter Skelters - while they appear to be entirely autonomous machines, created with technology unknown to modern day, they were also made using magical energy, as if by a Servant's Noble Phantasm. Roman deduces from this that they are being remotely controlled by the Noble Phantasm's owner elsewhere, and defeating them will thus stop the Helter Skelters entirely. However, being unable to trace the controller's location due to the Demonic Fog, they are left without leads.

As they brainstorm, however, Fran enters the room, attempting to get the team's attention. Mordred translates, revealing to their astonishment that Fran is able to detect the magical traces left by the Helter Skelters' controller, and thus is able to find their location. Armed with this new lead, Mordred and co. set out together with Fran. They briefly discuss the great Arthurian mage Merlin, with Roman being insulted at being compared to him.

Mordred notices that Mash is feeling down, and Ritsuka discovers that after hearing of the Helter Skelters' nature as a Noble Phantasm, Mash is disheartened at being unable to use her own to its full extent. Mordred reassures Mash that while she has not unlocked her true strength and perhaps never will, she is still stronger than the Heroic Spirit within her (dubbing him "that Shield bastard"), and it is Ritsuka's responsibility as her Master to take care of her and find the true value of her Noble Phantasm.

At the End of Brilliant Steam

Fighting past more Helter Skelters to the Westminster area, Mordred reminds Ritsuka and Mash that she will not be able to support them as well due to having to protect Fran. The party arrive near the Houses of Parliament, where they encounter and fight a giant Helter Skelter. After destroying it, Fran assures them that despite not being a Servant, it was indeed the Noble Phantasm controlling the Helter Skelter armies.

Sending images of the giant robot's remains to Roman for further analysis, however, Mash also discovers a manufacturer's name written on its body - "Charles Babbage, AD 1888", which unexpectedly surprises Fran.

They return to the apartment to rest (comically hampered by the presence of the two authors, who have not stopped writing since materialising) and discuss their findings. Mash states that Babbage, a renowned mathematician, should have passed away at least a decade before 1888 AD, but to her surprise, Jekyll is certain that Babbage should be alive and still active in the current era, supported by newspapers corroborating his survival.

Roman posits two hypotheses: Firstly, that historical records do not match reality. Alternatively, as in the previous three Singularities, a distortion in historical events has occurred, caused by the Singularity's presence, resulting in the presence of the human Jekyll and Fran, and Babbage's survival. Jekyll, however, brings more bad news from his network: the Helter Skelters have suddenly reactivated, and Mordred, Ritsuka and Mash set out once again with Fran to find the second remote control as fast as possible.

Fighting through more increasingly frequent groups of Helter Skelters, it soon becomes apparent that Fran's directions are deliberately more hesitant and erratic. They confront Fran, and it is revealed that she once knew Babbage himself, with her tracking ability using traces resembling Babbage's presence. Believing that Babbage would never commit such an evil scheme, Fran led the team astray in a misguided attempt to protect him. Mordred deduces that if Babbage is truly on the side of good, then he is being forced into serving the enemy, which reassures Fran enough to follow the trail correctly.

The heroes eventually reach the source of the traces - in the centre of the City area, near Jekyll's apartment - and find the King of Steam, Charles Babbage himself, clad in mechanical armour resembling the Helter Skelters. Babbage reveals himself as the mage named "B", the second leader of Project Demonic Fog. A Heroic Spirit who also emerged from the Demonic Fog, he manifests his fantasy for a steam-filled civilisation as a Reality Marble in the form of his Helter Skelters, in nature much like Nursery Rhyme, in lament for the incineration of humanity.

Fran reveals herself to Babbage, who recognises her as his peer Victor's daughter, and tries to appeal to him. Babbage remembers his original aspiration, and nearly relents. However, he is suddenly compelled against his will to attack the team, as if by a Command Spell - blaming interference from "M" and something named "Angrboda", in which the Holy Grail is implanted.

Babbage calls out for Fran to run away, and Mordred, Mash and Ritsuka are forced to slay him in battle in order to stop his forced rampage. The dying Babbage reveals that the core of Project Demonic Fog lies in the underground part of the city - Massive Steam Engine Angrboda, the source of the Demonic Fog and Babbage's invention, powered by the Holy Grail. Before disappearing, he apologizes to Fran, admitting he does not want to destroy the world.

With the location of the Grail revealed, they return to Jekyll's apartment, preparing for the final battle.

Angrboda

Leaving Fran at the apartment, Mordred, Ritsuka and Mash enter London's underground to find Angrboda, through passages unmarked on any records, even from the Mage's Association. With Angrboda, named after the giantess spouse of Loki, powered by the Grail, it is explained how the Demonic Fog is able to summon Heroic Spirits using its power.

Angrboda's chamber

Fighting through enemies guarding the underground passages, the team head down over four levels underground, several hundred metres below the surface, before they finally reach the final chamber housing Angrboda - almost identical in structure to Fuyuki's Greater Grail. There, they confront "M" - Makiri Zolgen, the first leader of Project Demonic Fog, and a lone human mage seeking the annihilation of the current Singularity by releasing the Demonic Fog across all England for the sake of his King.

He reveals that Angrboda is nearing overload, about to summon a final Servant from the Fog, a Pioneer of the Stars with the power to awaken the Demonic Fog with a single strike and thus spread it across England. Mash questions his motives for aiding the destruction of humanity, and Makiri reveals that he tried to resist, but gave in after realising that his efforts were useless, his King proclaiming that he tires of seeing the ugliness of existence.

Makiri summons the evilness lurking within him, "found" by his King - incarnating into the Demon God Barbatos, of the 72 Demon Gods. Clashing with Chaldea in a final battle, Barbatos is eventually defeated and Makiri mortally wounded. However, with his dying words, Makiri completes his last Heroic Spirit summoning incantation, adding the additional phrase causing Madness Enhancement, before Mordred can finish him off.

With the Demonic Fog acting as a summoning circle, Makiri's final Servant is summoned, the magical energy released blowing away the heroes.

Myth of Thunder and Lightning

The last Servant summoned by Angrboda is revealed to be Nikola Tesla, the Pioneer of the Stars and genius who raised civilisation to new heights with his innovations. Following the last wishes of the scholars that summoned him, and his mind limited by Makiri's Madness Enhancement, Tesla begins his slow ascent to the surface to activate the Demonic Fog.

Minutes later, the heroes recover and give chase, fighting past the remaining enemies left behind blocking their path. Roman notices that Tesla is only walking to the surface, and wonders if Tesla is trying to resist his own actions.

The heroes manage to catch up to and confront Tesla in the underground passages, but are barred by the Demonic Fog surrounding him, now Activated by his lightning and able to absorb a Servant's magical energy. Mordred releases her Noble Phantasm, Clarent Blood Arthur, and manages to disperse the fog, buying them a window to engage Tesla in combat.

However, the heroes are unable to best Tesla in time before the Fog returns, blocking their path once again. Resisting the control over his mind as a Heroic Spirit who loves humanity, Tesla reveals to them that he will head for the skies above Buckingham Palace, where the Fog is densest, where he will use his lightning to activate the Fog and allow it to blanket the land. As he leaves, Tesla challenges the heroes to stop him, a new God of Thunder, before he can destroy the world.

Tesla emerges at the surface, and summons a stairway made of lightning, the Perkūnas's Ladder, to take him into the skies, but is unexpectedly confronted by a new arrival - Sakata Kintoki, one of the Four Heavenly Kings, and a Heroic Spirit summoned from the Demonic Fog to stop Tesla, using his own lightning as a catalyst.

Kintoki is soon joined by another Heroic Spirit: the fox spirit Tamamo-no-Mae, who hitched a ride on Kintoki's summoning in an attempt to vacation to London, only to find the dreary world of the Singularity, much to her disappointment. With Tesla's own permission, and Kintoki trying to hide his embarrassment at Tamamo's presence and appearance, the two Heroic Spirits hold back and delay Tesla in single combat, buying time for Mordred, Ritsuka and Mash to fight their way to the surface.

Despite Kintoki's resistance to the Activated Fog as a Heroic Spirit of the Humans, both Kintoki and Tamamo eventually falter, and Tesla soon continues his ascent. Kintoki uses his Noble Phantasm, Golden Spark, to blow away the Activated Fog as Mordred, Ritsuka, Fou and Mash reach the surface, clearing a path for them to give chase before he and Tamamo stay behind and rest.

The heroes follow Tesla up the staircase of lightning, confronting him in the skies above London. With Tesla professing the strength of his lightning as a gift to humanity - System Keraunos - he clashes with the heroes in a final Grand Battle, and is finally defeated. Tesla congratulates the heroes for their victory as he disappears, admitting he still wishes for the continuation of humanity.

However, the heroes realise that they forgot to retrieve the Holy Grail from Angrboda before pursuing Tesla, as a new high-density magical energy response is detected. Above Buckingham Palace, a new Servant manifests, absorbing the remaining Demonic Fog into herself - Artoria Pendragon Alter, mounted atop a horse, driven mad with rage, and wielding the dark lance Rhongomyniad, the weapon and Divine Construct that killed Mordred in life.

Mordred speculates that Artoria Alter emerged to stop her specifically, being at odds with the idea of Mordred saving her beloved Londinium. Mordred refuses to retreat from her father, and together with Ritsuka and Mash, defeat the maddened Servant in a last Grand Battle, ending the threat of the Fog once and for all.

In the aftermath of the battle, Jekyll and Fran receive word in the apartment that the operation was a success, and the Grail has been retrieved from Angrboda. With Andersen and Shakespeare having already left, Jekyll and Fran await the resolution of the Singularity, Jekyll finally understanding Fran and admitting the farewell is a little sad.

Back underground with Angrboda, Mash tries to assure Mordred that Artoria Alter's appearance had nothing to do with Mordred, being a combination of Makiri's incantation and the Demonic Fog. Joined by Andersen, Shakespeare, Kintoki, and Tamamo, they prepare to retrieve the Grail, only to suddenly detect a powerful distortion in space - that is, disturbingly, much akin to a Rayshift. A shadowed figure emerges from the distortion, confronting them with an overpowering presence, cutting off Roman's visual feed.

The being claims himself as King Solomon, the Heroic Spirit who masterminded the Incineration of Humanity, and the one commanding the 72 Demon Gods. Solomon voices his disappointment at the failures of Gilles de Rais, Romulus, Jason, and now Tesla, and claims to be a Heroic Spirit who summoned himself via his own power in order to destroy humanity, believing them to be the biggest waste in the universe.

Despite his eyes being able to witness all possible futures, Chaldea survives due to being isolated from the temporal axis, thus evading Solomon's sight. Solomon reveals that he sent his 72 Demon Gods across time to be reborn in a physical form, thus being able to manifest and do his work in any era. He further reveals that the ring of light in the skies of the Singularities is his Third Noble Phantasm: Ars Almadel Salomonis, with each ray possessing the same heat of a holy sword - an Anti-Humanity Noble Phantasm to incinerate all human history.

The heroes engage Solomon in battle, who summons "only" four Demon Gods to challenge them out of "respect" for their purity. However, the battle goes poorly, with Tamamo, Shakespeare and Kintoki being instantly defeated by the Demon Gods. Roman attempts to rescue the heroes via Rayshift, but is blocked by the field around Solomon.

Solomon moves to incinerate Mordred himself, but unexpectedly, Andersen takes the blow for Mordred. Andersen reveals the rest of his findings from the Clock Tower records - the Heroic Spirit Summons belong to the Counter Force that protects humanity, a ritual to summon the seven strongest Heroic Spirits to fight a single great enemy born from civilisation to save humanity. Andersen exposes Solomon's nature as a Grand Servant - Grand Caster, Mage King Solomon, before Solomon executes him.

Unexpectedly, Solomon decides to simply leave, revealing he had confronted Chaldea on a simple whim, seeing them as no threat whatsoever. Despite having lost four Grails, his plan is not threatened unless they can retrieve all seven. He warns Chaldea that he will only deal with them personally if they manage to retrieve all seven Grails.

Ritsuka and Mash confront Solomon, demanding to know his motives for destroying humanity. Solomon admits he finds destroying humanity fun, and the greatest salvation for humanity. He believes humanity to be pathetic for failing to conquer the inevitability of death, yet still retaining a fear of it. He asks Mash why she clings to life knowing the future has no salvation, to which she is unable to answer.

Solomon leaves them with a final warning to Ritsuka - that giving up is the easiest way for them to live, and burning away is the only future for them, before disappearing.

Back on the surface, Grail in hand, the disheartened heroes bid farewell to Mordred. As she disappears, she gives them a final piece of encouragement that as living humans, they will be able to find the seven Grails and confront Solomon at the end of time, and when they meet again, Mordred will be there to help them.

With the Singularity resolved, Mash, Fou and Ritsuka Rayshift back to Chaldea, being met by Da Vinci while Roman is still in shock at the revelation of Solomon's appearance. Mash and Ritsuka encourage Roman to carry on as the one who took charge of Chaldea when he was needed, restoring his resolve. Armed with the knowledge of their true enemy, Roman congratulates the pair on another successful mission.

As they return to their rooms, Mash privately admits to Ritsuka that she found herself agreeing with Solomon's words that life is meaningless and the future holds no salvation, but brushes it off and wishes them a good night.
