The Final Singularity (終局特異点, Shūkyoku Tokui-ten?) is a singularity manifested by Beast I during the Human Order Incineration Incident. Located in present day 2016 as a manifestation of Solomon's Reality Marble Grand Temple of Time, its Humanity Foundation Value is "— —" and it is the base of operations for Goetia and the Demon Gods. It was the last singularity visited by Chaldea Security Organization in the undertaking of the Grand Order to restore Earth and the Human Order.
The events of Chaldea's visit to this Singularity are covered in the final chapter of Observer on Timeless Temple; The Grand Temple of Time: Solomon (冠位時間神殿 ソロモン, Kan-i Jikan Shinden Soromon?), alternatively The Rain of Stars (極天の流星雨, Kyokuten no ryūseiu?) .
Setting[]
The Singularity occurred in the year 2016 within Ars Paulina. During his reign and lifetime, Solomon created seventy-two familiars called Demon Gods, collectively known as Goetia.[1] Goetia was created as both the foundation for human magecraft, and a ritual to watch over humanity.[1][2] He ruled alongside Solomon, but despite seeing and experiencing the same things, they both reached different conclusions about humanity.[2] He came to hate both humans and Solomon; humans for the atrocities they committed; Solomon for ignoring the suffering and cruelty of humans, and wishing to not correct them despite his God given powers.[3][4] When Solomon died, Goetia continued to exist as a primordial curse. He proceed to incarnate himself through a summoning spell, and took control of Solomon's corpse.[1] Believing the fear of death is why human life is meaningless, he sought to recreate the planet so death doesn't exist. He conceived a plan to destroy humanity so he could gather and use 3000 years worth of magical energy to travel back to the planet's genesis. There he will absorb the energy into himself, and recreate the planet as per his vision.[2] As the first part of his plan, Goetia implanted Demon Gods as a curse into distinct mage lineages where they'll be passed down until they're awakened at their appointed era.[3] Afterwards, he went to Ars Paulina, a reality marble and workshop existing outside space and time, to await the Demon Gods's awakening. Once they were all awoken, he proceeded to activate the Singularities to fracture human history, thus initiating the Incineration of Humanity. With humanity incinerated, Goetia gathered the magical energy into Ars Almadel Salomonis, creating the band of light seen throughout the Singularities.[1]
History[]
Prelude[]
The chamber of the Greater Grail, beneath the Ryuudou Temple, in the city of Fuyuki. Marisbury Animusphere and his Servant, Caster, have won the Fuyuki Holy Grail War in 2004, defeating all six of the other Masters. Marisbury unexpectedly forgoes using a Command Spell to sacrifice his willing Servant to the Greater Grail, having no interest in achieving the Third Magic. Instead, Marisbury admits he only desires the completion of CHALDEAS, and will use the Grail's wish to obtain the monetary and energy resources necessary to do so.[5]
Marisbury asks Caster to keep the War's conclusion a secret, letting the world believe that Saber and their Master were the victors to prevent the other Lords interfering with Marisbury. CHALDEAS's completion will allow Professor Lev's SHEBA and Rayshifting to finally work, and Marisbury to answer his driving questions: such as the truth behind the end of the Age of Gods, and the instability of the Foundation of Humanity in the A.D era. Caster consents to his Master's plan, noting that while he lacks morality like every mage, he has a burning and unwavering passion and love for humanity. [5]
Marisbury grants his Servant - Solomon, King of Mages - permission to wish for anything but Marisbury's life, as his one and only friend, confident his wish will be a righteous one. Solomon realises that he does indeed have a wish he desires, yet had never had the freedom to ask for one.[5]
In the Command Room of Chaldea, "present day", Dr. Romani Archaman is woken from a dream by his staff, having dozed off, and is informed that Chaldea will have imminent contact with the Final Singularity in four hours. Simultaneously with the space-time fusion, Master Ritsuka Fujimaru and Mash Kyrielight will Rayshift into the Singularity to resolve it within 72 hours, within which the facility can still be transferred back to normal time: December 31, 2016 (NA: 2018).[5]
Reassured, Roman authorises a final four-hour break for the staff to rest before the final mission. With Fou, Roman ponders to himself the coming culmination of the ten years since his arrival at Chaldea, following a prophetic dream of that humanity's end, with his only clue that it would begin at Chaldea. Roman voices his hypothesis that the "Solomon" who appeared in London was a fake, using Kingu as a sample case, and a key weakness such an impostor would possess, one that scares him.[5]
Meanwhile, Mash Kyrielight is sent a vision by Solomon of a peaceful utopic town, whose inhabitants claim that they have been granted eternity - life without end, released from death, without fear or conflict. Solomon himself appears, wishing to hear Mash's conclusion on humanity's worth in the hopes she will understand his views as a girl with not long to live.
Disturbed by the false smiles in her dream, Mash rejects and denies Solomon's concept of "happiness", seeing death as a natural part of life, one that inspires humans to live for the sake of living - her answer to the question Solomon had once asked her. Disappointed in Mash's answer, Solomon loses interest in her and leaves, condemning her as another ordinary human.[5]
Ritsuka Fujimaru wakes up from a morning nap in their room, right on time to begin the Last Order. They receive their wake-up call from Leonardo da Vinci, informing them the Command Room is ready. Da Vinci, however, privately informs them at Roman's request that Mash's body is now at its limit, and she can only participate in one more major operation. [5]
Ritsuka joins Mash and Fou in the corridors on the way to the Command Room, but they are unable to broach the topic of Mash's condition, instead requesting her to remain at Chaldea. Mash appreciates her Master's concern, but refuses, revealing she is aware of her waning condition. Wishing to take pride in her journey and life, and prove Solomon wrong, she convinces Ritsuka to allow her to join the final mission.[5]
At the Command Room, Roman and Da Vinci give the final briefing. Outside of the temporal axis, the entire facility of Chaldea is making physical contact with the King of Mages' Singularity. With no Grail to find, their objectives are simple: to besiege the enemy temple, defeat the King of Mages, and return from enemy territory alive.[5]
Analysis reveals the Singularity is its own Reality Marble, a temple consisting of a singular massive life-form - the dissected Magical Circuits of a single mage. Seven bases along its outer edges funnel an incalculable amount of Magical Energy towards its centre - the Mage King's throne, and the heroes' target. Therefore, the plan is destroy the surrounding bases to cut off the core's magical energy and breach the temple gate. Rayshifting is only possible at the Singularity's contact point, meaning the heroes must return there after the mission's completion to Rayshift back.[5]
Though still shaken, Roman is cheered up by Ritsuka's resolve, and orders the commencement of their final operation. He bids the heroes to stop Solomon's schemes, the greatest murder plot in human history, before the deadline of 2017 (NA: 2019) arrives.[5]
The Rayshift commences, and the Final Grand Order begins.[5]
Sector of Beasts[]
As they Rayshift, Ritsuka and Mash receive an interfering vision - a memory seared into space, the same images Ritsuka had seen from the Tablet of Destinies in Uruk. [3]
A voice, belonging to a collective, laments the horrors of humanity's suffering that they were forced to witness by Clairvoyance. They reach the conclusion that the only option is to redo everything from the start, re-creating the entire planet and its history from true nothingness.[3]
However, to perform such a feat, a massive amount of energy is needed - such as that generated from incinerating all life on the planet. And yet, as a one-time harvest is not enough, a plan is hatched to harvest from not only the present, but the past and future. Three thousand years' worth of energy will be collected from the incineration of human history. The voice ends by calling out for their kindred, scattered across the land, leaving a path for them to follow to the Final Singularity.[3]
Ritsuka and Mash complete their Rayshift to the Temple of Time's entrance, suspended in an infinite void resembling outer space. Da Vinci reports that the Spirit Origin of a Beast of Calamity is present in the Singularity. At that moment, Ritsuka and Mash are confronted by the traitorous Professor Lev Lainur, somehow alive after his apparent death in the Second Singularity, and who is aware of the heroes' exploits against the other Demon God Pillars.[3]
Ignoring the topic of Lev's survival, the heroes demand to know if Lev had intended to betray humanity from the very beginning, even when approaching former Director Olga Marie, aware he was the one to develop SHEBA for Chaldea. Lev reveals that he has served the King of Mages since the very beginning, 3000 years ago.
He reveals that the Demon Gods were seeded in place around the world in specific Mage lineages, each lying dormant until their appointed time - after which they are born into Demon God Pillars to perform their roles, with Lev designated for 2016 (NA: 2018) AD, the final Pillar to awaken. Akin to seeds planted in the ground, they are the King of Mages' original Grand Order, passed down through generations of Mages as a curse in their genes.[3]
Lev further reveals that he had found Dr. Roman suspicious, and intended to specifically kill him with the bomb in the Command Room, only to be accidentally foiled by Ritsuka's arrival. Da Vinci retorts that Lev could not have detected Roman's true nature, revealing and showing respect for Roman's lone journey to save humanity following his prophetic apocalyptic vision.[3]
With his king's final calculations soon to be done within hours, Lev decides to take the opportunity to tie up his loose ends. Transforming into his true form of Demon God Flauros, he engages the heroes in battle. The heroes are able to defeat Flauros a second time, only for him to immediately regenerate. [3]
Chaldea itself is attacked and heavily damaged by eight Demon God Pillars, and Flauros reveals that the Temple itself is composed entirely out of the 72 Demon Gods. With 72 Demon God Pillars always existing so long as their Throne stands, they are completely immortal and inexhaustible. For a moment, Ritsuka's will fails, and they wonder if their efforts were pointless, as the Demon God Pillars prepare to strike the fatal blow. [3]
However, the Demon God Pillars are suddenly destroyed, saving Chaldea. All over the Temple, a rain of stars streak from the sky, engaging the Demon Gods - an army of Heroic Spirits, spontaneously summoned by their bond to Ritsuka, each met throughout their journey. The army is rallied by Jeanne d'Arc, who restores Ritsuka's hope with a rousing speech to take back their future together.[3]
With all 72 Demon Gods now engaged and open for elimination, Roman implores the heroes to press on, and open a path to the Temple's centre.[3]
I / Naberius, the Melting Furnace[]
The heroes enter the first base, the Melting Furnace. The nine Demon God Pillars governing the Furnace activate, led by Demon God Naberius - Zepar, Botis, Bathim, Sallos, Purson, Marax, Ipos, Aim - and block the heroes' path. Ritsuka and Mash are briefly daunted at their numerical disadvantage, unable to progress.[6]
However, Jeanne and Siegfried suddenly arrive, volunteering their assistance in holding the sector, as repayment for the heroes' work in Orleans. They are joined by Marie Antoinette, bringing along both Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and an embarrassed Charles-Henri Sanson. Amadeus casually reveals that he was the lineage set to become the Demon God Amdusias, but had successfully resisted, pondering if it was due to his unwavering love for music, or his chance encounter with Marie in his childhood.[6]
The Servants of the First Singularity battle the Demon God Pillars of the Melting Furnace. Further joined by Saint Martha, Vlad III, Carmilla and Kiyohime, Ritsuka and Mash are able to personally destroy Naberius thrice in a row. Zepar is left in disbelief at their unforeseen defeat, and is admonished by Kiyohime and Elisabeth Báthory, surprising a watching Georgios (while a nearby Martha challenges Georgios's prejudice against dragons in general).[6]
Hearing Martha's words, Siegfried briefly wonders if he could have reached a peaceful understanding with Fafnir. Chevalier d'Eon quickly shoots him down, but with Marie accidentally insults Amadeus while attempting to encourage the Dragon Slayer, much to Sanson's silent amusement. Meanwhile, Carmilla taunts Vlad III to show off his power as Count Dracula, but Vlad III surprisingly concurs, able to cast aside his worries over his reputation in the face of the threat of humanity's end. The Phantom of the Opera encourages Vlad's resolve from the side, unafraid of baring his sins so his Christine can see the light in his place.[6]
While the Berserker Lancelot rages nearby, Saber-class Gilles de Rais asks for Jeanne's aid. Together, they temporarily destroy the Demon God Pillars simultaneously with their combined Noble Phantasms, Luminosité Eternelle and Saint War Order. Jeanne bids the Chaldeans to go forth, while she and the First Singularity Servants continue to suppress the nine Melting Furnace Demon Gods as long as possible to both weaken and clear a path to the Throne - as the Demon Gods will be impotent provided they are distracted by the Heroic Spirits.[6]
(Henceforth, players are able to face the following six Demon God bosses, barring Andromalius, in any order, unlocking their ending sections upon their defeat.)
II / Flauros, the Information Center[]
The heroes enter the Information Center, where Flauros activates and challenges them once again, alongside his fellow researchers Orias, Vapula, Zagan, Valac, Andras, Andrealphus, Cimeies, and Amdusias.[7]
The opposing charge is led by Emperor Nero Claudius. Due to the incarnation met in the Second Singularity being her living self, the Servant Nero only has vague memories of her experience (including her other appearances throughout the Grand Order), and has little knowledge of what is going on. Regardless, she vows to fight by Ritsuka's side, still able to deduce their objectives.[7]
An impatient Lü Bu goes on a rampage due to the length of Nero's speech, much to Boudica's annoyance. Nonetheless, she is overjoyed to reunite with the Chaldeans, bestowing Andraste's Protection upon them. Spartacus, Jing Ke and Boudica are enthusiastic to battle (Jing Ke comparing the Demon Gods to an emperor who once ruled China), planning to hold a banquet in celebration after its conclusion.[7]
Seeing her old Servant allies, Nero begins to recall her memories of the Second Singularity. Boudica directs her to a summoned legion of elite Roman soldiers, thousands strong. While they are not Heroic Spirits (unlike the army of a certain King of Conquerors) and simply nameless spirits, they will still fight the Demon Gods under the astonished Nero's command.[7]
Nero begins to see visions of the morbid future that awaits following her return to proper history. Even so, she accepts her fate, her resolve encouraged by a briefly lucid Caligula (who immediately returns to incoherency after Nero does a double take) and Caesar. In addition, Romulus himself arrives to support Nero and Ritsuka with the might of Rome itself. Recalling words said to his father, the God of War, he condemns the Demon Gods and announces the end of the Age of Gods, with Rome itself representing the dawn of the Age of Man. All are left speechless by Romulus's rousing speech, and Nero leads the charge against Flauros's Demon Gods.[7]
Information Center, Terminated[]
Zhuge Liang/El-Melloi II analyses the nature of the Information Center Demon Gods alongside the enthusiastic Alexander. Studying the mechanics of the Temple's Throne, El-Melloi II devises a method of piggybacking off its nature as an enormous summoning circle to provide Alexander, his king, with functionally infinite magical energy. Darius III appears to fight alongside Alexander, holding himself back to target the Demon Gods over his future rival. After Darius suddenly Ascends in power in unspoken mutual respect of Alexander, Alexander leads the charge into battle with his future rival and retainer.[8]
Lu Bu and Spartacus wreak havoc while Jing Ke struggles to manage the two Berserkers, forced into a commanding role while Boudica shares a private pep talk with Nero, who is suffering another of her migraines. A downcast Nero admits that she remembers the atrocities Rome had committed against Boudica and Britannia, taking responsibility for them despite Boudica's assurances.[8]
Boudica admits that she will never forgive Nero or Rome, but asserts that, barring changes in her Spirit Origin, her desire for revenge has long since passed, pointing out that she, too, had committed her fair share of cruelties against Roman civilians in Londinium. They accept a compromise that while their rivalry will continue forever, their transient nature as Heroic Spirits means they can do what they choose, and they rejoin the impatient Jing Ke.
Meanwhile, Stheno muses on the raging battle with Altera, recalling the latter's invasion from beyond the stars, and devastation of the Olympian gods, 14,000 years before, asking her whose side she stands on now. Altera assures Stheno that she is on the side of humanity and Ritsuka. Only having the memories of her time as Attila the Hun, and not the avatar of destruction from eons past, she doesn't wish humanity to end, and has a simple wish of being a normal girl, satisfying Stheno.[8]
Demon God Orias is left in disbelief at the Heroic Spirits' resistance, confronted by Romulus. Suddenly, the Heroic Spirits are left astonished (Lu Bu and Spartacus going into a frenzy) as Altera annihilates Orias using Teardrop Photon Ray, standing firmly on humanity's side. Caesar and Romulus recognise Altera's sword as the true sword of Mars, the God of War (still virtually manifested in satellite orbit), shocking Nero. Her resolve emboldened by Altera's power, Nero rouses her army, and bids Ritsuka's team to go ahead.[8]
III / Forneus, the Observatory[]
Ritsuka's team enter the Observatory, where Demon God Forneus activates his fellows Glasya-Labolas, Buné, Ronové, Berith, Astaroth, Foras, Asmoday, and Gäap to challenge them.[9]
The Demon Gods are bombarded by the Golden Hind, helmed by Captain Francis Drake, along with her first mate Bombe and her entire crew (who are mildly confused as to why they were summoned too). Joining them is Blackbeard helming the Queen Anne's Revenge, with Eric Bloodaxe and the reluctant Anne Bonny and Mary Read alongside him.[9]
Led by Forneus, the Demon God Pillars almost immediately focus on Blackbeard, harbouring an intense dislike for the perverted captain in particular. With Hektor elsewhere, Eric takes it upon himself to encourage Blackbeard to fight, shocking all present with his sudden coherency. The two captains settle to put aside their differences to face the Demon Gods in battle, bombarding them relentlessly with their vessels. Meanwhile, Orion (still in his teddy bear form) and Artemis also join the fray, Orion riding atop Artemis' head to give her orders on where to fire.[9]
Observatory, Closed[]
With the Golden Hind's bombardment holding back the Demon Gods, Drake implores Ritsuka and Mash to continue forth, encouraged by Asterios and Euryale. On the Queen Anne's Revenge, Anne and Mary are surprised at both Blackbeard's competence and effectiveness at drawing the Demon Gods' ire, and Eric's apparent sanity. Eric sheepishly admits to them that his "madness" is an act, to prevent his wife Gunnhild from becoming jealous and cursing those he talks to. With a newfound respect for their crewmembers and even captain (to an extent), Anne and Mary join the fight with renewed vigour.[10]
Elsewhere, an exasperated Atalante struggles to manage David, who continuously attempts to flirt with her (without forgetting that their foe is supposedly his own son, or someone claiming to be), and the nearby still-bickering Orion and Artemis.[10]
Meanwhile, on the Argo, a panicked Jason expresses his immense regret in participating in the battle. However, in his hysteria, Jason manages to organise a competent battle strategy with Medea Lily and Hektor supporting Heracles, their main powerhouse. His fellow Argonauts (including Heracles, whose Spirit Origin even Ascends) are genuinely impressed, noting that Jason only shows his true competence as a hero when under extreme pressure.[10]
Also impressed is the adult Medea, summoned by her bond to Ritsuka. Ignoring Jason's terror at seeing a second Medea, she resolves to defend Jason herself, and encourages Ritsuka and Mash to get a move on.[10]
IV / Barbatos, the Control Tower[]
Ritsuka and Mash reach the Control Tower, their way barred by Demon God Barbatos, and his fellows Paimon, Buer, Gusion, Sitri, Beleth, Leraje, Eligos, and Caim. [11]
Immediately, Mordred arrives and cuts them down, proclaiming that the end of the world won't be by their hand, joined by Dr. Jekyll. Having consumed too much of his elixir, Jekyll briefly transforms into Mr. Hyde, who initially confuses his whereabouts for Ogawa-heim, before transforming back.[11]
Nikola Tesla arrives, fashionably late, having stopped to help escort Frankenstein (an incarnation that Mordred had once defeated before) to the battle as well. Charles Babbage also joins, alleviating Jekyll's concerns over their overly offense-geared team formation, having come after seen a promising glimpse of Ritsuka's future.[11]
With Babbage handling defence, Sakata Kintoki joins the battle's offence, leading with Golden Spark. Having answered the despairing call of humanity from the moment they were incinerated, Kintoki's frustration and battle spirit Ascends his Spirit Origin to his Rider form, and he rallies the gathered Servants to battle.[11]
Control Tower, Collapsed[]
The Servants manage to clear a path, and Mordred and Jekyll call for Ritsuka's team to go on, and leave the war of attrition to them. William Shakespeare and Hans Christian Andersen also join as support, much to Mordred's annoyance.[12]
Elsewhere, Tamamo-no-Mae reunites with the Rider Kintoki, reminiscing about their shared past in ancient Kyoto, running afoul of Abe-no-Seimei. Finding the Demon Gods more repugnant, Tamamo Ascends with Tamamo Seven Transformation, growing extra tails. Not to be outdone, Kintoki unveils Golden Huge Bear, the colossal armour used to defeat the Great Tsuchigumo at the Kitayama Rendai field, and unleashes it on the Demon Gods with Golden Hachiman Drive.[12]
Meanwhile, Paracelcus von Hohenheim supervises the younger Servants, pairing Jack the Ripper to fight alongside Frankenstein while he and Nursery Rhyme provide support. As the latter's prompting, Paracelcus ponders his true morality, recalling his prior descent into villainy in another time, and concluding that he will use this battle as an opportunity to act as a good person, much to a watching Mephistopheles' amusement. Babbage assures them that as the Philosopher's Stone is hypothesised to only be created by one who is righteous, Paracelcus must have a spark of good in him. Sated, Mephistopheles resolves to watch Paracelcus's struggle against the Demon Gods.[12]
Elsewhere, Tesla greets the arriving Artoria Alter in her Lancer form, once again Chain Summoned by Mordred (and Ritsuka) as she was in London. Artoria Alter declines to see her daughter, explaining that she is merely an alternate version of herself arising from a possible timeline where she became a goddess from holding the Sacred Lance, yet still maintained her sanity and accepted the Holy Grail's curse, becoming the Wild Hunt and the King of the Storm.[12]
Her wrath set against the Demon Gods, she unleashes Rhongomyniad on the Demon Gods, impressing Tesla, and he goes forth to clear a path for her. Noting the King of the Storm's arrival, Andersen and Shakespeare hurry Ritsuka to carry on, to the point of falling back to citing the common story cliche of leaving the battle to them.[12]
V / Halphas, the Armory[]
At the Armory, Demon God Halphas awakens Furfur, Marchosias, Stolas, Phenex, Malphas, Räum, Focalor and Vepar to stop Ritsuka's team from advancing, proclaiming their intent to mourn the flames of war.[13]
Florence Nightingale stands against the Demon Gods, countering their purpose with the resolution that while grieving for the fallen is natural for humanity, they must move beyond that, and extinguish the flames of war entirely, such that none will have to fall or lose their loved ones again.[13]
She is joined by a healed and rejuvenated Rama, who condemns the Demon Gods as cowards willing to throw away the entire world for their purpose. He rallies Ritsuka to fight alongside him and the Angel of Crimea (embarrassed to hear her nickname being used).[13]
Armory, Impasse[]
With the path now open to Ritsuka, Nightingale and Rama bid them to press onwards, assuring them that fear of loss and death is nothing to be ashamed of.[14]
Going onwards, they find Queen Medb, who is surprised to find Cú Chulainn Alter has also joined the battle. He cites that it is natural for him, the conquered, to now bow to his conqueror, Ritsuka. In turn, Medb admits she herself joined out of admiration for Ritsuka's hard-working nature, and the pair of former enemies promise their aid to Ritsuka and bid them to carry on.[14]
An amused Scáthach watches on, joined by Li Shuwen. After Li Shuwen's spear breaks, he casts it away and opts to simply fight barefisted alongside Beowulf, to Scáthach's surprise (her being unproficient in fighting hand-to-hand). Nearby, Diarmuid ua Duibhne struggles to manage his fellows Fergus mac Róich and Fionn mac Cumhaill, who are distracted ogling the other Servants. Regardless, Fergus uses his lust to rouse himself up and fight his best.[14]
Meanwhile, Elisabeth Báthory (in another Ascension) fights alongside Robin Hood, the former realising this is the second time she has fought in this battle. They are joined by Billy the Kid and Geronimo, who rallies them to fight for Ritsuka unhindered by the fear of death, as death is technically not the end for them as Servants. Thomas Edison enthusiastically bombards the Demon Gods with Helena Blavatsky by his side, who has to admonish him for using his battle speeches to randomly badmouth AC electricity.[14]
Nearby, Karna and Arjuna fight together, putting aside their feelings to compete in a friendly competition to kill Demon Gods. Arjuna accepts, coming to a contented peace with his hatred, and Karna admits his own development due to his fortune with recent Masters. With that, Arjuna bids his final Master, Ritsuka, to continue onwards.[14]
VI / Amon, the Gazing Star[]
Heading the Gazing Star, Demon God Amon activates Bael, Agares, Vassago, Samigina, Marbas, Valefor, Alloces and Orobas to bar Ritsuka's path.[15]
Xuanzang Sanzang hurries over to reunite with Ritsuka's team and her former disciple Tawara Touta. Also present is King Ozymandias, simply passing by on a pleasure trip to the Temple of Time at Nitocris' request. Ozymandias is unimpressed at what he perceives as a lack of pest control in the Temple, and refuses to fight, to the chagrin of Hassan of the Hundred Personas. Hassan of the Cursed Arm consoles her, while Hassan of the Serenity laments being unable to be by Ritsuka's side.[15]
Nearby, Sir Gawain decides to fight in place of Ozymandias, even without his Gift, fighting to repent for his horrific deeds in the Holy Land. Sir Tristan is impressed by Gawain's resolve, still ashamed of his own acts in the Sixth Singularity, much to Sir Lancelot's amusement, who notes that Sir Bedivere would be impressed by his repentance.[15]
Annoyed by the gathering of Servants ruining his "tourism trip", Ozymandias prepares to leave, seeing no hero worthy of fighting alongside him, despite a frantic Nitocris's attempts to convince him otherwise. However, Arash suddenly arrives late, joining the fray. Almost immediately, a reverent Ozymandias changes his mind, wishing to be placed on the frontlines with Arash. Taking this sudden turn of events in stride, Sanzang encourages her very first disciple, Ritsuka, to show her their new growth in battle since their last meeting.[15]
Gazing Star, Extinguished[]
Demon God Amon attempts to multiply his regenerating brethren to overwhelm the Heroic Spirit army. Suddenly, a "Lion-Helmed Knight", sat on horseback in shining white armour, arrives from afar to assist Ritsuka's Servants - the King of the Storm who holds the anchor of the planet, Rhongomyniad. [16]
Alongside her is her herald - the modest "Silver Knight". With both Rhongomyniad and the Silver Knight's Switch On - Airgetlám, the gathered Demon Gods are handily vanquished, temporarily cutting off their magical energy supply. With the Servants granted some much-needed respite, Sanzang and the others send off Ritsuka and Mash, assuring them that they can handle the rest (to Hundred Personas's horror) and catch up soon.[16]
VII / Sabnock, the Chamber of Life[]
Entering the Chamber of Life, Ritsuka and Mash are confronted by Demon God Sabnock, who activates Shax, Viné, Bifrons, Vual, Häagenti, Crocell, Furcas and Balam to bar their progress. [17]
Almost immediately, the Demon Gods are cleared out by Ishtar, who is distracted trading barbs and blows with a purple-eyed Enkidu. Gorgon comments to Mash and Ritsuka to simply leave them be (almost identifying "Enkidu" as Kingu) in the hopes their rivalry will wipe out the Demon Gods around them in the process. The heroes are surprised to see not only a mellowed-out Gorgon assisting them, but her younger self Ana as well.[17]
Gorgon admits she has little stake in the conflict, but had mainly come at Quetzalcoatl's nagging insistence, who admits she used Gorgon as an excuse to join the fight. Jaguar Warrior nearly lets slip that not only did Quetzalcoatl simply wish to see Ritsuka again, but that the Mesoamerican gods have their own chatroom.[17]
Ereshkigal arrives, claiming she had only come to ferry over the Heroic Spirits that fell into Kur, only to almost lose her composure at finally reuniting with Ritsuka. Taking a moment to show off in front of Ritsuka, she releases the fallen Heroic Spirits Leonidas I, Musashibou Benkei and a repentant Ushiwakamaru onto the battlefield, the very same Servants encountered in the Seventh Singularity.[17]
Benkei explains that as they died during the Age of Gods, they had simply fallen into Kur instead of disappearing back to the Throne, and were put straight to repair work by Ereshkigal. It is revealed that Ushiwakamaru had negotiated their release with Ereshkigal out of a frantic desire to apologize to Ritsuka for her evil deeds.[17]
Ishtar and Ereshkigal reunite, with the former being confused by the latter's presence despite apparently disappearing permanently. Ereshkigal dodges her concerns with a vague explanation of events involving Ritsuka that allowed her to return with the same Spirit Origin, refusing to elaborate further before leaving.[17]
Ushiwakamaru prepares to settle her score with Gorgon against the Demon Gods, and with Benkei back at her side, they head out to clear a path for Ritsuka.[17]
Chamber of Life, Dead[]
The battle rages on, with Demon God Sabnock and his fellows continuously regenerating. Ishtar and "Enkidu" agree to put aside their differences to focus entirely on the Demon God Pillars. Noticing his conspicuous absence, Quetzalcoatl asks after Merlin, and Ana reveals that Merlin will not be participating, being unable to reach the Temple on foot from Avalon.[18]
Ana passes on a message left for Ritsuka by Merlin, where he apologizes for his absence, being too busy updating Magi☆Mari's website. Ana cuts off the message before he can get into "despicable jargon" (where he breaks the fourth wall, proposing meeting with Ritsuka again through a limited pickup banner). [18]
Dr. Roman's world is completely shattered to discover that his beloved Internet idol "Magi☆Mari" has been none other than Merlin himself, much to Mash, Jaguar Warrior and Leonidas's pity.[18]
Ushiwakamaru and Benkei implore Ritsuka and Mash to carry on ahead, while they continue the fight as the ambassadors of Chaldea with a final blessing from Ritsuka.[18]
X / Andromalius, the Trash Heap[]
(Andromalius' section is unlocked after completing any four other Demon Gods, resulting in "At the Throne" playing automatically and the Trash Heap being revealed)[19]
To Chaldea's surprise, the heroes arrive at an eighth site on the Temple - the Trash Heap, where Demon God Andromalius rallies Murmur, Gremory, Ose, Amy, Belial, Decarabia, Seere and Dantalion to face the heroes. While the other sites were managed by Heroic Spirits tied to the seven Singularities and their Grails, this site has no apparent connections, leaving Mash and Ritsuka to seemingly face the nine pillars alone.[19]
The gloating Demon Gods are suddenly cut off, however, by the high-speed arrival and laughter of another Heroic Spirit - none other than the Count of Monte Cristo, Avenger Edmond Dantès, once encountered by Ritsuka in a nightmare involving a prison tower (whom Mash is unfamiliar with). Joining him is fellow Avenger, the Dragon Witch Jeanne d'Arc Alter, and Ruler Amakusa Shirou Tokisada, serving as the acting leader for the arriving Servants, and Brynhild of the Valkyries.[19]
Minamoto-no-Raikou arrives, her lightning impressing the arriving Iskandar, King of Conquerors. Mysterious Heroine X of the ServantVerse also appears, having mistaken the battle for another game Event. X saves Ritsuka from an apparent decapitation attempt by Void Ryougi Shiki, a Saber X is hunting. Shiki and X trade remarks concerning the ServantVerse, after which they strike a deal to have a rematch after helping Ritsuka.[19]
Elsewhere, an increasingly panicked Oda Nobunaga leads a losing assault against the Demon Gods, her attacks having little effect. Okita Souji opts to use her more effective swordplay to battle instead, only to overexert herself and nearly succumb to her illness. Fuuma Kotarou is left exasperated at his two eccentric battle partners, holding a grudge against samurai in general, but eventually resolves to set aside his prejudices and fight alongside them.[19]
Meanwhile, Illyasviel von Einzbern (with Magical Ruby) and Chloe von Einzbern battle the Demon Gods to settle their debt to Ritsuka for helping them. Shuten-Douji and Ibaraki-Douji watch the pair from afar. The oni converse together, with Ibaraki resolving to fight for humanity for the sake of dominating it herself later, impressing Shuten.[19]
Kiritsugu Emiya battles the Demon Gods, feeling doubt about his worthiness to fight in the battle, but is encouraged by Irisviel von Einzbern, who acknowledges his battle as just. Meanwhile, a confused Cleopatra decides to take on a supporting role for the other Servants with Mata Hari and Tamamo Cat, under the surprising guidance of the latter.[19]
Trash Heap, Shutdown[]
Dantès confronts Demon God Andromalius, rejecting the Demon Gods' motives and vowing to tear them apart for insulting his anger. As Dantès burns him away, Andromalius curses the Command Terminal for enlisting the Avenger in a failed gambit to begin with.[20]
With that, after receiving thanks and a cigarette, Dantès sends Ritsuka and Mash onwards, challenging them to succeed in their battle and deliver the final checkmate before the Servants run out of steam. Knowing Ritsuka had survived seven days in his nightmare, a laughing Dantès places his bets on their final success.[20]
At the Throne[]
(This section automatically plays first after four Demon Gods are defeated, unlocking the Trash Heap and Andromalius' section)
Meanwhile, at the Throne of the Temple of Time, Solomon muses on the vision of humanity's suffering he had witnessed, never able to get bored of it. His pondering is interrupted by Demon God Bael, who updates Solomon on the Temple's invasion by the Heroic Spirits.[4]
Bael asks his King for the use of the Third Noble Phantasm, to incinerate the Heroic Spirits with Ars Almadel Salomonis's bands of light. Solomon laughs the Heroic Spirits' struggle off as foolish, knowing they would have known his true purpose the moment they reached the Temple. [4]
Despite this, however, Solomon dismisses Bael's worries, pointing out that only Ritsuka needs to be killed to stop the Heroic Spirit army. Bael is convinced to continue the pointless battle, assured that as long as Solomon lives, the 72 Demon Gods are indestructible. Still, Solomon sympathises with Bael's frustration, wondering why the Heroic Spirits fight for Chaldea, despite knowing the pain suffered throughout human history.[4]
Throne of the Light Band[]
Ritsuka and Mash are able to reach the route to the Throne, with the Demon Gods' activity having been significantly reduced. Before the final battle begins, Da Vinci, Mash and Ritsuka give Roman a final question - whether the Solomon waiting for them is the true Solomon or an impostor.[1]
Roman confirms that the Solomon ahead is not an impostor using his name, as the Temple of Time itself is King Solomon's genuine Magical Circuit, and thus can only be controlled by him. He also dismisses the possibility of Solomon being an Alter, as Solomon in life had no freedom to be allowed the human concepts of good and evil, let alone human feelings. Therefore, an Alter would change nothing about Solomon himself.[1]
Roman comes to the conclusion that another being is controlling Solomon's actions - much like Kingu was controlling Enkidu's corpse, another being is using King Solomon's corpse, having "resurrected" it to enact their grand plans. Knowing this may likely be the last conversation they will have, he asks Mash if she has any regrets, to which she resolutely responds that she has none.[1]
The entrance to the Throne before them, Roman wishes the heroes the best of luck, and gives them his last order to destroy the Singularity, and their final enemy, Solomon, the King of Mages.[1]
A vision is shown - a recurring vision of a being who had seen untold ages of human suffering. Unable to endure the cruelty they witnessed, they begged the unfeeling Solomon to correct these tragedies, only for Solomon to refuse, accepting sadness as simply another conclusion of humanity. Only God can punish men, while the King simply regulates them.[1]
Unable to accept his resolution, the being - or rather, the collective, reaches a decision - to take leave of everything, believing Solomon himself to have mistaken the meaning of God.[1]
Ritsuka and Mash emerge from the rift into the shining Throne Room of the King of Mages, where a magnificent white Throne waits under a band of light. They are joined by Fou, who is revealed to have stowed along the entire time from Chaldea. "King Solomon" sits upon the Throne, admitting to them that he had underestimated the Heroic Spirits. Welcoming them to his Throne Room, he questions Ritsuka as to why they have come, as the Virtual First Noble Phantasm, "Ars Nova", will be completed within minutes.[1]
The final part of the five-part grimoire, The Lesser Key of King Solomon (among which is the Ars Goetia, a catalog of Demon Gods), it is the name ascribed to the false Solomon's Noble Phantasm, as he does not know its True Name. He further reveals that his second Noble Phantasm is the Grand Temple of Time itself, Ars Paulina, and the third are his bands of light, containing enough energy to incinerate humanity.[1]
However, "Solomon" corrects their assumption that the bands had destroyed humanity. In fact, he reveals that the reverse is true: the Incineration of Humanity was simply the fuel for the bands of light, using humanity itself as an energy source. By creating the Singularities, "Solomon" was able to extract nearly limitless energy from humanity, from every era in history - the literal crystallization of human history. Humankind was nothing but fuel for a greater purpose, as Sherlock Holmes had predicted.[1]
However, he refuses to reveal his True Name or his full purpose, and prepares to kill the heroes in his way in the brief moments before his great task is complete. As long as the Heroic Spirits' Master is killed, their resistance will end, and he belittles Ritsuka as the worst Master of humanity, their actions been all for naught.[1]
Mash, recalling Mordred's words in London, denies the false Solomon's words, affirming that Ritsuka is the best Master, and they engage the King of Mages, the supposed Grand Caster, in battle. "Solomon" fights back with his Demon Gods, utilizing Beleth's Incineration Ritual, but is eventually beaten back.[1]
However, the King of Mages is far from defeated. He commends them for managing to strike a fatal blow at the core of his body, and grants them the honour of witnessing his true form. As his Spirit Origin begins to change, the heroes notice "Solomon's" ten Rings - and quickly note that only one of them on his left hand is different, silver as opposed to gold.[1]
The Throne Room transforms, the sky turning dark and the architecture becoming overgrown with Demon God Pillars. "Solomon" announces his true identity - an Evil of Humanity, one of the seven Beasts of Disaster, hiding in King Solomon's human corpse as an incarnation. The first familiar created by King Solomon that became the foundation of modern Magecraft, and who ruled alongside him, and remained after his death as a primordial curse, Goetia, the King of Demon Gods, and the Ritual for the Incineration of Humanity.[1]
The Future[]
Goetia, the collective name of the 72 Demon Gods, and a living summoning spell created by humans that gained sentience and incarnated, is revealed to be Beast I, and King Solomon's guardian spirit and shadow - through Solomon's powers of omniscience granted by God, Goetia witnessed the endless suffering of humanity, and was overwhelmed. [2]
Coming to the conclusion that the planet and humanity was a mistake, Goetia plans to use the magical energy of mankind's Incineration, 3000 years' worth, to return to the birth of the planet, 4.6 billion years in the past. There, they will recreate the world entirely, raising a perfect sapient being without the concept of death - their Grand Order.[2]
Goetia prepares to wipe the heroes out themselves, the last obstacles to their plan. Mash and Ritsuka stand against them, their goal to stop them before they uses their Noble Phantasm. However, after a short battle, they are unsuccessful, and Goetia begins deploying their Third Noble Phantasm: Ars Almadel Salomonis.[2]
Goetia attempts one last time to convince Mash to join them in rejecting human history, wishing for even just a single person to understand them, even appealing to Ritsuka's desire to save Mash. Mash, however, still rejects Goetia, staying resolute that while a world without death and ending is still wrong, and wishes to see every second of her future, no matter how quickly it will end. She asks Ritsuka to hold her hand one final time, and they comply.[2]
Disappointed, Goetia condemns Mash to death along with the rest, as their Noble Phantasm finishes charging, and they release its full power to incinerate the heroes completely. Mash doesn't hesitate, and deploys Lord Camelot for the last time to protect Ritsuka, blocking the full power of Ars Almadel Salomonis. [2]
Having finally realised her wish, Mash thanks Ritsuka for everything, but regrets that she was always the one that was protected, and had wanted to be useful to her Senpai at least once. In the end, however, unable to take the heat of the bands of light, Mash's body is vaporised completely, leaving only her shield standing unscathed, having protected her Master to the very end.[2]
Goetia laments Mash's sacrifice as futile, and grants the enraged Ritsuka a final chance to strike at them, before they reload their Third Noble Phantasm a second time to destroy them. However, they are both stopped by the sudden appearance of Dr. Roman.[2]
In a flashback, the Chaldea staff struggle to hold off the Demon Gods' assault on the Chaldea base, refusing to give up the Command Room for Mash's sake. Spurred on by Mash's words of a meaningful future, Roman decides to make his stand. Tasking Da Vinci with defending the Command Room, they share their last farewells as he leaves to meet Goetia himself. [2]
In the Throne Room, Roman congratulates Ritsuka for their efforts, and confronts Goetia, his Spirit Origin changing. Removing his gloves, he reveals a single ring on his left hand - King Solomon's tenth ring, supposedly lost after his death.[2]
Roman reveals that at the time of his death, King Solomon sent his tenth ring into the distant future, at an apparent whim from God. There, it would be uncovered by Marisbury Animusphere, and used as a catalyst to summon Solomon as his Caster to win the Holy Grail War - the first Heroic Spirit summoned by Chaldea. Solomon's wish on the Grail was become human, adopting the identity of Romani Archaman.[2]
Goetia is left in utter disbelief, unable to comprehend Solomon ever having wishes or emotions. Roman continues, revealing that at the moment he became human, his Clairvoyance showed him a vision of the coming end of mankind, but nothing more before his powers also left him. [2]
Left with no knowledge of the enemy, purpose or even the nature of the end, Roman began his long journey of relearning to be human, and preparing for the coming disaster. He thanks Ritsuka and Mash for helping him throughout the entire Grand Order since the day they met, and takes back his true title.[2]
Roman's Spirit Origin returns to his true form - Solomon, King of Mages. Preparing to judge Goetia himself, he proclaims that while life will always come to an end, and be a pilgrimage of suffering, it is not a story of death and separation. Confident in their strength, Goetia decides to kill Solomon themselves, brutally attacking him.[2]
However, with all ten rings collected, Solomon reveals his true first Noble Phantasm, the final magecraft that Goetia could never have learned. Goetia, realising what he is doing, begs him to stop, but it is too late. Solomon releases his first Noble Phantasm - The Time of Parting Hath Come, I Am He Who Surrenders the World: Ars Nova.[2]
Recreating the moment of legend where he returned his rings of omnipotence to Heaven, Solomon annihilates his entire being and all that he has achieved. With Solomon gone, the Temple of Time's power will be lost, and the immortal colony of Goetia will cease to be, returning to being individual demons. Even Solomon's own position as a Heroic Spirit from the Throne of Heroes will be erased. In short, King Solomon and his works will never appear on Earth again.[2]
Back as Romani Archaman, his body disappearing, Roman ponders the antithetical conclusions reached by both him and Goetia, despite seeing the same sights, concluding that unlike Goetia, Solomon didn't have the freedom to be angry. With the King of Mages gone, the Age of Gods will truly come to an end, and the world shall be ruled by human knowledge and the laws of physics.[2]
Goetia's immortality is no more, the price paid for turning away from the duty of watching over mankind. Roman proclaims that life is not a story of despair, but fighting against it, death and separation with what precious little time one is given - stories of love and hope. Goetia is unable to comprehend this resolution, and desperately attempts to continue their plan before their union disintegrates. [2]
As his last goodbye, and order as Chaldea's commander, Roman tasks Ritsuka with stopping Goetia, Beast I, the final culmination of their journey thus far. Ritsuka thanks Roman for everything, as he disappears from the world forevermore.[2]
Ritsuka challenges Goetia in the final battle to vanquish the Evil of Humanity. Goetia's Nega-Summon temporarily nullifies Noble Phantasms, and they begin by immediately unleashing Ars Almadel Salomonis in a desperate bid to reload humanity. [2]
Despite this, Goetia is finally defeated, ending their threat for good.[2]
Singularity, Collapsed[]
As he begins to crumble, the main being/Command Terminal that is Goetia contemplates his defeat, and Solomon's own moral victory over him. More and more Demon God Pillars break from the union, fading away completely - first Botis, Bathim, Sallos, Purson, Marax, Ipos, Aim, and Naberius. Then Orias, Vapula, Zagan, Valac, Andras, Andrealphus, Cimeies, and Amdusias.[21]
And soon, Furfur, Marchosias, Stolas, Halphas, Malphas, Focalor, and Vepar, followed by Glasya-Labolas, Buné, Ronové, Berith, Astaroth, Forneus, Foras, and Asmoday. Despite this, Goetia struggles on, needing only five more minutes to complete his task, and desperate to know why Ritsuka still stands before them.[21]
Throughout the Temple, the Demon Gods continue to fall into chaos. At the Control Tower, Barbatos, Paimon and Buer are already lost, with Sitri, Beleth and Leraje unrecoverable. Only Eligos, Caim and Gusion remain, no longer part of Goetia, engaging the Heroic Spirits in discussions until the end. In the Chamber of Life, Crocell absorbs his eight defeated fellows - Sabnock, Shax, Viné, Bifrons, Vual, Häagenti, Furcas and Balam - using them as fuel for his anger in a final stand against the Heroic Spirits. [21]
King Gilgamesh berates the dying Flauros, explaining that in focusing only on humanity's suffering and evil, they had blinded themselves to the bigger picture, thus failing to understand the value of life.[21]
The sole survivor of the Observatory, Gäap is left in awe at the raging conviction of the Heroic Spirits, the paradox of which overwhelms Agares, Vassago and Samigina of the Gazing Star. Elsewhere, Marbas, Valefor and Amon form a triple union and fight to the end, while Alloces and Orobas betray their kind, and are eliminated while protecting the Heroic Spirits. Gäap sends a final warning to Goetia to activate the bands of light immediately, before his destruction.[21]
In the Throne Room, Goetia is still left in disbelief. Murmur, Gremory, Ose and Amy destroy themselves, while Belial, Decarabia and Seere fall to Heroic Spirits, leaving only three Demon God Pillars. Despite this, Goetia refuses to accept defeat, and attacks Ritsuka again, desperate to know why they still fight, and refuse to submit to him.
Ritsuka defends and fights back with Mash's shield. After Dantalion and Andromalius shut down, Ritsuka empowers themselves with a Command Spell and strikes the final blow, answering that they fight to live.[21]
Goetia is stunned by their answer, realising Ritsuka wasn't even fighting to protect humanity, and simply feared death like any other. And despite this, they still succeeded in utterly defeating Goetia and ruining their plans. Laughing at the absurdity of it all, Goetia does nothing as he is crushed by the debris of the collapsing Throne, and the last Pillar, Flauros, shuts down.[21]
(Four Pillars - Bael, Zepar, Phenex, and Räum - are not mentioned, having fled the Temple to create the Pseudo-Singularities)
Fate/Grand Order[]
Da Vinci reestablishes communication with Ritsuka, confirming Goetia's disappearance. She orders them and Fou to return to Chaldea immediately before the Singularity crumbles back into nothing, heading back through the dimensional fissure in the Throne Room where Da Vinci can Rayshift them at the holy gate.[22]
Elsewhere, Jeanne d'Arc congratulates the disappearing Heroic Spirits on their victory, standing with Gilgamesh. With the battle over, Gilgamesh decides to disappear, as what happens next is only for humans alone. He muses on the nature of the Evils of Humanity, each ironically representing a love for the human race.[22]
Before he and Jeanne disappear, Gilgamesh reveals though he is not a Grand Servant, he is aware that the Beasts manifest in a chain reaction, culminating in "The Final Evil". As Beast I has manifested, Beast VII must also be somewhere in the world too, where it falls to humanity to combat them.[22]
Ritsuka continues to escape the crumbling Temple with Da Vinci's help. However, they soon find Da Vinci's communication cut off and their way barred once again by Goetia, now in a crumbling human body, a "King of Men", armed with all ten rings of Solomon.[22] Goetia challenges Ritsuka one last time in a pointless battle of pride, finally understanding Ritsuka and the human mentality thanks to his now mortal life - and having a reason to fight. The two clash alone in the Grand Last Battle for humanity, until Goetia exhausts his power at last and disappears for good, fascinated at the tragic shortness of human life. [22]
Da Vinci's video returns, and Ritsuka begins the last stretch home. However, the Temple path crumbles too quickly, and they fall at the last step, disappointed at their failure, until suddenly the hand of Mash Kyrielight, alive and well, reaches out from the Rayshift point, calling for Ritsuka. Mash saves Ritsuka, and they Rayshift home to Chaldea.[22]
The debris of the Temple of Time is left to fade to nothing - the ten rings of Solomon sitting on the empty Throne.[22]
Return[]
A flashback reveals that after her death, Mash Kyrielight's will was still left in the void, and was met by the voice of Fou.[23]
Fou explains that he will bring Mash back to life, and reveals his true identity: Cath Palug, a Beast of Disaster, known in another world as "Primate Murder". An embodiment of comparison that feeds on the energies of humans who compete, envy and regret their own weakness.[23]
However, when kept away from human society, Fou remains just a harmless animal. Originally held on a remote island, he was ejected from his mage's tower and forced to live outside to experience the beauty of the world, where he would wind up in Chaldea.[23]
Noting that death in the Temple of Time doesn't really count in reality - Fou explains that with the incredible amounts of magical energy accumulated over the past centuries, he will perform a miracle beyond even True Magic - transferring his own future to Mash, extending her life past the original three days she had left, enough for an average human lifespan. Afterwards, Fou will lose his intellect and personality, returning to an ordinary beast (revealing he had been coherently participating in their past conversations until now).[23]
Fou gives Mash a final goodbye, and thanks her for the journey, congratulating Chaldea for defeating Beast IV without even a single blow.[23]
In the present, Ritsuka is woken by Fou in the Command Room, having taken almost an hour to wake up, to a worried Mash, alive and well. They reunite with a hug, and Mash reveals that she had come to at the Rayshift coordinates in the nick of time, with only a vague memory of her after-death encounter with Fou.[23]
Da Vinci officially congratulates Ritsuka on completing their mission, declaring the final Grand Order complete, and the staff celebrate. After they thank Chaldea's staff for their assistance, Da Vinci reveals that Chaldea safely returned to normal space. However, their battle was not without losses, counting the 200 staff members and the 47 Masters (still frozen in their Coffins) lost in Lev's assault, and Dr. Roman.[23]
Moving past the dour news, Da Vinci further reveals that communication with the outside world has resumed - the world is currently in chaos, revealing that an entire year's worth of memories is missing from the global population, with the Mage's Association sending envoys to Chaldea for an explanation. [23]
The threat to humanity having passed, the Servants gathered at Chaldea have already left, barring a few exceptions like Da Vinci, though their Spirit Origin patterns are still stored in case of future Rayshifts.[23]
Passing off other liability issues regarding Rayshifts for the future, Da Vinci gives Ritsuka and Mash a final task - to set up a contraption of hers at coordinates just outside the base, the one day they can do so (really a roundabout way to show them both the outside world).[23]
The pair and Fou leave together immediately, hand-in-hand - to find that the blizzard has subsided to reveal a clear blue sky, and snowy mountains as far as the eye can see. The true sky of present-day Earth, witnessed by Mash for the first time in her life, just as Dr. Roman once predicted.[23]
Mash admits she is grateful to be alive now, and asks Ritsuka what the journey meant to them, an outsider pulled into the conflict against their will. Ritsuka answers that it meant the same to them as it did for Mash, to her delight. Knowing their journey and adventures will continue, she swears to follow her Master to the very end.[23]
The pair gaze together into the sky, ready to go forth into the new year that they had saved for all humanity.[23]
Epilogue[]
Da Vinci watches Ritsuka and Mash leave together, hand-in-hand, and reminisces on an earlier time, around the time after the American Singularity was resolved.[24]
Da Vinci meets with Dr. Roman, who is pleased with Ritsuka's progress. While glad to see him put trust in others, Da Vinci confronts Roman about the secrets he is keeping, wondering if Ritsuka might hate him if it comes to light.[24]
Roman adamantly chooses to maintain the secret, as it remains their main trump card against their enemy, which convinces Da Vinci. Roman remains glad that Ritsuka, an ordinary person, was the one to save humanity, as a better display of the worth and value of mankind like Solomon believed. [24]
However, Roman admits that he barely identifies with King Solomon anymore. He explains that unlike other heroes, who start as normal humans and are pushed into inhumanity by their journey, King Solomon was never treated as human from birth, and thus had no freedom to experience the world as a man. Da Vinci realises this is why Solomon chose to be incarnated as Romani Archaman, and Roman admits he is glad for his mortal life. [24]
Roman reveals that in his time, people had little in the way of individualism, only following the laws laid down by God. Therefore, he had been delighted to learn of the core concept of "romance" - the freedom to dream of a better future, that would be taken on by those that came after him. Thus, he decided to take "Romani" as his name, even getting over his discomfort at its connection to Rome.[24]
Finally, Da Vinci asks if he is sure he is ready to lose that freedom going down the path he is. Before he leaves for the Command Room to give his briefing, Roman assures her that as long as Ritsuka is here and becomes a good Master, there will have been meaning to his decade of life, making up for any freedom he could have had.[24]
In the present, Da Vinci admits that while King Solomon didn't truly get his wish to live as a human, his actions were still worth it, and it is Romani Archaman's wish that came true: Ritsuka Fujimaru is now a full-fledged Master, worthy of the grade of "Cause".[24]
