Fiore Forvedge Yggdmillennia (フィオレ・フォルヴェッジ・ユグドミレニア, Fiore Foruvejji Yugudomirenia?) is the Master of Archer of Black in the Great Holy Grail War of Fate/Apocrypha.
Profile[]
Background[]
Fiore is a young woman who was born into the Forvedge family. She is the older sister of Caules. When Fiore and Caules were children, their father gifted them with a dog. The dog was used as a 'bad example' of Spiritual Evocation by their father and died horribly in front of Fiore and Caules. Fiore was fond of the dog and while she appeared to be calm, she was affected by its death.
She later inherited the position of head of the Forvedge family and earned a high ranking position within Yggdmillennia. She is noted by Darnic, who she refers to as grandfather, to be the only Magus within the clan to have true talent and so recognizes her as the future elder of Yggdmillennia.
Fiore was able to attain Caules' catalyst by buying blueprints for the "ideal human" off a freelance Magus she was acquainted with.[4]
Appearance[]
She is 19 years old during in the Great Holy Grail War.[1] She has brunette wavy hair, clear blue eyes and a gentle smile, her body appears fragile. Due to a Magic Circuits malfunction during her birth, she became crippled and wheelchair-bound.
Personality[]
Fiore has a soft and clear voice, and her smile is able to spread to others, as if infecting them with her sweetness. She has some trepidation towards the war, fearing the Mage's Association as the symbol of the World of Magecraft.
Fiore dislikes conflict, and having studied at the Clock Tower, has some distaste for having to fight against the faction even if she will not be fighting directly against her friends there. She is not against fighting when necessary, partly out of fear towards Darnic, but also due to the fact that a chance for victory exists.
She would have objected had it been impossible, but the Greater Grail gives her confidence. She possesses a dream that cannot be granted no matter how much she refines her craft, so something like opposing her friends is only sentimentality that cannot obstruct her from her objective. She is fully committed for their coming confrontation.
She desires to use the Holy Grail to heal her legs, but in a way that allows her to keep her Magic Circuits and allow her the full function of her legs. She feels shameful of it compared to Archer's own earnest wish.
Role[]
Fate/Apocrypha[]
Fiore speaks to Darnic about the state of the Holy Grail War before she summons her Servant. She notes that her brother is not handling it well, and Darnic comments that it is fortunate that they are not participating in a regular Holy Grail War where two siblings with Command Spells would have to kill each other. She is shown the bottom of the Greater Grail, told that it is for her eyes only, and is amazed by the overwhelming Magical Energy within it. She obtains confidence for the upcoming battle, hoping it will allow her to obtain her wish.
She summons her Servant, Archer of Black, along with Gordes, Celenike and Caules in a multiple summoning. Her catalyst is an ancient arrow with blackened blood on the tip. After returning to her quarters, she asks about Archer's body, and he promises to show his worth as a Servant.
Fiore received reports about Assassin of Black and her Master seems to be out of control in their territory, this makes Fiore to question Hyouma Sagara's odd behavior and she goes on a mission to find out what's happening. Fiore notice that Assassin has a different Master and she figured they killed Sagara Hyouma, who belonged to the Yggdmillenia. She decided that killing Reika Rikudou and Assassin is the best course of action as they are harmful to not just both sides of the war, but also the civilians. Fiore encounters Kairi Sisigou and she activates her Mystic Code Bronze-Link Manipulators. Kairi proved to be the more experienced combatant, but a decisive shot was blocked by Caules. In the end both sides retreated.
After the Greater Grail is taken, the Servants of Black informed Fiore about Darnic's death, which leads Fiore to take control as the new leader of Yggdmillenia. She then establishes an alliance with Kairi, Saber of Red, Sieg and Ruler and after some coercing from Caules agrees to let him become Archer's new Master.
Hunt for Assassin of Black[]
While treating the injured Homunculi and preparing for their next attack to reclaim the Grail, Fiore hears word about some of their supporters being murdered in Trifas. Correctly deducing that its mostly likely the work of Assassin of Black, Fiore calls a meeting and explains the current circumstances to Ruler and Astolfo. After explaining the situation, Fiore beseeches Ruler and Astolfo to help them take of Jack the Ripper because Yggdmillenia currently don't have the forces to handle it alone.
Ruler agrees to help on the basis that Jack's actions are in clear violation of the rules, because not only is Jack being publicized in the newspapers when the Grail War is supposed to be secret, but because Jack is also killing innocent people on top of Fiore's supporters and other Magi. Relieved, Fiore has Caules bring out a map with their supporters' locations on it and Caules explains that they have to deal with it fast as they only have three days to prepare for the siege at the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
Astolfo happily agrees to help as well because they at least know what they're up against as Archer of Black and Fiore had fought against Jack before. Archer slightly agrees and as he thinks about Jack, Archer suddenly opens in eyes in shock. Fiore asks Archer "what's wrong?" and Archer asks Fiore if she can remember what Assassin of Black looks like. Thinking on it, Fiore's realizes that she can't remember either. Ruler theorizes that it could be an effect of Jack's Noble Phantasm or a type of 'Presence Concealment' skill that affects memories which causes Astolfo to panic.
Archer replies that they'll just have to go in blind and Fiore asserts that they can't leave Assassin of Black alone which leads all of the others to agree with her. Later on, Fiore is doing some paperwork while Caules and the other Servants are out investigating the various crime scenes. Suddenly, Fiore receives a call from her brother Caules who immediately warns her that she is in danger, as Assassin of Black has discovered their hideout. Panicking, Fiore looks out the window and sees that the grounds have been covered in fog.
Fiore then calmly rolls out of the room and notices that there is fog in the hallway. Enchanting her handkerchief, Fiore starts cautiously rolling towards another room. Opening the door with a spell, Fiore is about to enter the room when she spots Assassin of Black behind her. Startled, Fiore panics and falls out of her wheelchair into the room and orders the door closed with a spell. Crawling towards the suitcase on the desk, Fiore becomes startled when Assassin of Black opens the door with same spell that she used.
Trying to bide time, Fiore asks Assassin of Black if she is Jack the Ripper and Jack declares that she is. Fiore then declares that the Grail isn't at their base and Jack replies that she already knows and that the Red Faction has the Grail. Fiore then asks why she is here then and Jack replies that she is here to finish them off while they are down. Panicking, Fiore tries to grab the suitcase, but Jack blocks her grab with a knife. Jack then jumps onto the desk and grabs the suitcase and asks whether the suitcase is important to Fiore. Jack then declares that the suitcase is hers now, and Fiore calmly declares that's fine.
Seizing her chance, Fiore activates her Bronze Link Manipulators and uses them to attack Jack. Pushing Jack away, Fiore reattaches her manipulators and jumps out of the window while Jack is distracted. Landing safely, Fiore tries to find a route out of the fog, but then her manipulators are suddenly destroyed by Jack's knives and Fiore collapses to the ground. On the ground, Fiore looks up and sees Jack with her knife aimed at her head. As Jack is about to kill Fiore, though, Sieg appears and rescues Fiore.
Exchanging some blows, Sieg is about to be killed by Jack when Archer of Black appears and fires off some arrows. Sensing the other Servants, Jack retreats into the fog taking it with her. With the fog gone, Archer of Black appears and tends to Fiore asking if she is alright. Fiore replies that she's fine and Astolfo and Ruler appear. Tending to his master, Archer of Black and Fiore both thank Sieg for saving her life. Sieg asks if that was Assassin of Black and Fiore replies that it was, however, she has already forgotten her face. Frustrated, Fiore renews her resolve to defeat Jack the Ripper and implores Sieg for his help. Sieg agrees and the entire Black Faction start coming up with a plan to lure out and defeat Jack the Ripper.
The next day, Fiore sees off Sieg and Ruler who are playing the roles of decoys while Fiore and Caules stay behind to prepare for the siege on the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Fiore is not present for the entirety of the final battle against Jack the Ripper.
In the end, she decides to leave the World of Magecraft, as mentioned by Caules when El-Melloi II asked him about her whereabouts. She presumably had the Magic Circuits in her legs removed so that they could be healed, as she was shown using parallel bars for physical therapy so she could become able to walk.
Side of Survivor[]
Having sacrificed all of her Magic Circuits to regain the use of her legs, Fiore was no longer able to practice the family magecraft. As she decided to abandon the World of Magecraft entirely, the Mage's Association set out to have her hunted down and eliminated, as per their policies. She fled to the United States of America, as the continent of North America is scorned by the Association, settling in New York City with some of the Yggdmillennia homunculi, who dyed their hair and changed their eye color in order to avoid suspicion. While no longer requiring a wheelchair, she does need a cane to help her walk. One day, she reunites with Astolfo at a coffee shop as part of his series of interviews.[5]
During Astolfo and Caules' conversation, Caules tells him that due to being a rare genius in a hundred or two hundred years, the Forvedge family is looking for her. She has changed her name and holds a Mystic Code that hides her presence, with Caules that their parents will likely give up only when they die.[6]
Lord El-Melloi II Case Files[]
In the timeline of Fate/stay night, the Forvedge family never joined Yggdmillennia. Fiore rejected the lifestyle of a mage and left home, and so Caules became the heir of the Forvedge family in her place.[7] The anime depicts her walking, so like in Fate/Apocrypha, she presumably had the Magic Circuits removed from her legs after leaving Magecraft behind.[8]
Abilities[]
Fiore is recognized by Darnic as the only Magus within the clan with any true talent, and there is likely no Magus throughout the generations of thickening blood in the clan with greater aptitude than her. She is a genius in possession of a terrifyingly deep wealth of talent in a single field, that of Spiritual Evocation and human engineering. She is weak in most other types of thaumaturgy, but she rivals or even surpasses the first-class instructors of the Clock Tower in her field.[3] She possesses an ability called "Eulyphis",[9] or Spirit Medium. She uses Spiritual Evocation Magecraft, but she doesn’t communicate or have herself possessed by spirits directly, instead favoring Mystic Codes made of mechanical parts which have several animal spirits inserted into them.[4] As an evocation specialist, she can probably use psychoscopy to read residual memories in locations.[10] And as someone trained thoroughly as a Magus, she can reject any trivial spiritual possession just by using her Magic Circuits.[11] She can also erect a Bounded Field with the incantation "Claudere" and disable it with "Aperio".[10]
Fiore was born with a malfunctioning Magic Circuit in her two legs. Her disability deeply affects her thaumaturgy and has led her two limbs completely ceasing to function, sometimes causing her unbearable pain. It is possible to heal them, however it would involve removing the Circuits in her legs. In other words, it would mean giving up the life of a Magus. Studying the arts of human engineering and spiritual evocation, Fiore has learned ways to replace the functions of her legs. Her evocations can take up the tasks of her limbs, and she would be able to fly with a broom.[12]
Bronze-Link Manipulators[]
She has produced the Mystic Code Bronze-Link Manipulators: Coupled Reinforcement Mystic Codes (接続強化型魔術礼装, Setsuzoku Kyōkagata Majutsu Reisō?) with her own alterations that boast the power to allow even a third-class Magus to bring down a first-class Magus. The true nature of the Bronze-Link Manipulators is to serve as four giant magic-powered spider-like limbs, as an exoskeletal mecha-armor. It consists of four prosthetic arms equipped to her back. It was forged using a special alloy that easily conducts mana and is possessed by four animal (dog) spirits, so while Fiore can move them according to her will, the arms also move automatically to protect their master. In precision and reaction speed it rivals Volumen Hydrargyrum, though it is slightly inferior in offense due to the thought process limit of animal brains. Due to this limit, its movement patterns are kept to a minimum. In exchange it boasts superior defence than the other, as its primary function is to protect its user.[13]
Unlike the Volumen Hydrargyrum that Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald designed, its movement pattern memories are kept to a minimum. When too many movement patterns are recorded into it, it exceeds the thought process limit of the animal spirits. In other words, it is slightly inferior to Volumen Hydrargyrum in terms of attack power. In exchange, its defense—its function to protect its master fully uses the reflex speed of the animals, so it can’t be broken through with a normal Mystic Code.[13]
When she controls it herself, the mana burden is quite large, but when it’s switched to auto-mode, the mana burden is lessened. It is best described as a Mystic Code whose defensive aspect is more strongly ironed out than its offense.[13]
Each arm holds a name and function, such as Jupiter: Tin arm of Protection (ユーピター: 守護者の錫腕, Yūpitā: Gādian no Suzu Ude?), Mars: Iron arm of War (マルス: 戦火の鉄槌, Marusu: Senka no Tettsui?), and Saturn: Lead arm of Roaring (ザトゥルン: 轟然の鉛腕, Zato~urun: Gōzen no Namari Ude?). By invoking their names, she can give high-speed commands such as to deflect projectiles, launch mana bullets like a machine gun, or to crush objects.
Incidentally, this is a secret to everyone besides Caules, but Fiore gave each arm the pet names Aster, Blanca, Comet and Wolf respectively.[13]
She also possesses an older model of the Mystic Code, which she can have autonomously attach to herself with the incantation "Educere".[10][14]

A Master of the Black Camp. The current head of the Forvedge family. Due to the Magic Circuits in both her legs being deformed, she lost the ability to walk. Her latent skill as a magus luckily exceeds Darnic, and she would definitely rise from Frame (youngest child) to Cause (open rank) once she grows up. And her outstanding talent is so great that she was expected to rise even further.
However, she herself doesn’t know anything besides magecraft and is truly a researcher-type magus. She’s so ignorant of the rest of the world that she seriously asked in confusion, “The Net? You mean some kind of netting?” However, by contrast, she has great curiosity and badgered Caules over his cell phone and got him to buy one for her too.
Her skill as a magus is undoubtedly first rate, but because she was too exceptional, she never confronted the actual work of a magus at all. An obvious example is her memories of that stray dog. Fiore never forget her memory of it and continued to face it without ever shelving it away. She understood that it was something absolutely unneeded to a magus (especially for a magus in the Spiritual Evocation department), but she wasn’t able to throw it away, a sentiment that is far too much like that of a proper and decent human being.
She treats Caules as a cute little brother and in fact half-depends on him—but she isn’t self-aware of this at all and tries to act like a dependable older sister. Caules never boorishly points this out, which makes her all the more delightedly absorbed in being an older sister.
She uses Spiritual Evocation Magecraft, but she doesn’t communicate or have herself possessed by spirits directly, instead favoring Mystic Codes made of mechanical parts which have several animal spirits inserted into them.
After giving up the path of a magus in the novels, she tackles the struggle of rehabilitation for her legs. After that, her life will likely be quite stimulating for a girl who knew nothing but magecraft until then. Of course, her continued regret over giving up magecraft will also remain for her whole life, though.フィオレ・フォルヴェッジ・ユグドミレニア【人名】
