François PrelatiWP (フランソワ・プレラーティ, Furansowa Purerāti?), Class Name True Caster (真キャスター, Shin Kyasutā?), is the "True" Caster-class Servant of Francesca Prelati in the True and False Holy Grail Wars of Fate/strange Fake.
Profile[]
Identity[]
An Italian cleric in France during the time of Jeanne d'Arc. He was a close friend of Gilles de Rais, helping him with financial difficulties through alchemy. François was also involved with black magic, and Gilles became involved in his rituals as he forgot his original goals.[2] François was the actual magus leading these ceremonies to summon demons, while Gilles was merely a patron involved in the rituals.[3] He owned what became the Noble Phantasm Prelati's Spellbook that is summoned with Gilles under the Caster-class, despite Gilles not actually being a magus. François had translated it from Chinese manuscripts into Italian, and those manuscripts had been previously translated from a non-human language.[4] He was eventually executed and became sublimated as a Heroic Spirit. Despite this, there is a still living François Prelati currently going by the name of Francesca. The Heroic Spirit François possesses no memories from after his initial death.
Prelati had teachers in magecraft who reside in or near a lake, and while they would have wanted to help Artoria in the Fourth Holy Grail War, they would have been unable to as there is not enough Mystery left in the world for them to reach Japan from Britain.[5] One of those teachers was in turn taught by Merlin.[6] It is revealed that Prelati is the child of the Greek Goddess Até, born as a unit of folly that is neither human or Nature Spirit.[7]
Appearance[]
True Caster looks like a young boy. He has short stature, white hair, and fancy clothes. As shown with Francesca, True Caster’s physical form resembles one of his still living counterpart’s previous bodies.
Personality[]
François Prelati, the Heroic Spirit, apparently has a convivial relationship with the living François Prelati; both of which apparently enjoy eating modern snacks together. He also seems to enjoy misery and pain of others and is generally quite relaxed and mischievous.
As shown, he shares many traits with that of his living counterpart, including the latter's love for gore. This is seen where after being summoned, he planned to utilize his illusions to create grisly scenes to horrify and disgust his new master for fun. As seen where he planned to conjure a field of severed toddler hands in place of the field of flowers he made when he was first summoned by Francesca.
Role[]
Fate/strange Fake[]
Day 0[]
True Caster is summoned by Francesca Prelati, using her own body as the catalyst. Though initially confused, due to how Francesca perfectly predicted how True Caster tried to introduce himself and initially speculated that his current Master must have summoned him before, and would be surprised if she was still alive if that was the case. However, Caster quickly recognizes Francesca as a future version of himself, relaxing and joking around with her. They discuss Francesca's plan briefly, though Francesca is mysterious about her true intentions. They then complete their contract, though in a joking manner.[8]
Day 1[]
True Caster is sent to stop the battle between False Archer, True Archer, and True Rider. He traps them in an illusion, which greatly annoys False Archer, who claims that Caster is beneath even a fool, an imbecile who is drunk on his own eccentricities. True Caster, however, manages to forge a temporary truce between the Servants.[9]
Day 2[]
True Caster again serves as a peacekeeper, stopping the battle between the True Archer and his Master, Bazdilot Cordelion, who are fighting True Berserker, his Master, Haruri Borzak, and Fillia, who serves as an ally of Haruri, with his Grand Illusion. The Noble Phantasm creates a large hole in the earth where all of them fall, by fooling the earth itself. He then manages to make a truce between the parties.[10]
Day 3[]
Caster is present on the airship that functions as his workshop, with Francesca. Onboard the workshop is also Fillia, the homunculi possessed by a goddess, who plans on summoning Gugalanna, the Bull of Heaven. Caster comments that she is kind of scary, but Francesca assures him that she is not interested in fighting them, but two other people on the ground.[11]
Other Appearances[]
Gilles de Rais mentions in Fate/Zero how his Noble Phantasm, his magical book, was left to him by "his friend and ally".[12] The book bears Prelati's name, and is said to have been created by Francois.[13][1]
Abilities[]
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Item Construction (B Rank)
- Territory Creation (B Rank): Prelati created his workshop on an airship.[11]
Personal Skills[]
- Illusion Arts (A Rank): A skill that denotes excellence in the art of illusion within the field of Magecraft. At this level, it is even possible to go beyond people and deceive the environment.[1] Caster has shown capable of generating illusion magecraft, depicting a forest landscape over the ravine that True Archer, True Rider, and Gilgamesh were fighting in moments prior, as well as showing an illusionary replication of Enkidu, an action Gilgamesh declares to be the work of someone below even a third-rate fool. His illusions are said to be able to deceive not only individuals, but the land itself too.[9] Prelati's illusions also have the ability to deceive spatial distance between the airship, which is located at an altitude of 20 kilometers, and observe the battle in front of the hospital as if it were unfolding in right in front of either him or Francesca without relying on familiars.[10][14]
- Disciple of the Spirits (B Rank): Proof that one has been initiated in magecraft by certain lake spirits. The efficacy of magecraft improves dramatically.[1]
- Divinity (E- Rank): Prelati shares the blood of a deity, but as that deity is banished his rank is low. Barely manifested at rank E due to combination with traditions that link Prelati with BeelzebubWP.[1]
Noble Phantasms[]
He possesses the Noble Phantasms Grand Illusion and Prelati's Spellbook. He cannot currently utilize Prelati's Spellbook.[1]

Legends that Prelati revealed the form of Beelzebub to sworn friends or that he (she) was the incarnation of Beelzebub combined with the art of illusion and lineage that Prelati originally possessed and sublimated into a Noble Phantasm. It is a great magecraft that surpasses even environment to deceive the very texture of the world. It is even capable of causing a target to hallucinate that Prelati has imprisoned them in a Reality Marble. It is still an illusion, however, and therefore lacks the power of a Reality Marble.

The result of Prelati utilizing magecraft while dispelling their own rationality with drugs Prelati compounded themselves. Against astronomical odds, it ended up linked to a place one must not link to, Prelati inscribed the truth of it in a blank bible that was a Mystic Code and sealed the link itself. Prelati was therefore incapable of reproducing it, and entrusted the spellbook capable of opening the one and only link to a knight who was their sworn friend. Prelati can never use the Noble Phantasm unless the knight returns it on the spiritual level, but will the day of their reunion ever come?CLASS 真キャスター

Profile
A French noble from the 15th Century. Having repeatedly committed the deed of abducting young boys from the vicinity of his domains and then disgracing・slaughtering them one after the other, things reached the point in which he became known as the model for the later fairytale "Bluebeard".

A holy monster that sought for God more than anyone else.
Level 2 Bond
He was once the owner of a highly pious heart, he fell of deep despair and lost sight of God after Jeanne D'arc was executed as a heretic. His cruel deeds were also a means to prove the absence of God (who supposedly punished such vices).
Level 3 Bond

Prelati's Spellbook.
A grimoire which in itself is equipped with a magic reactor.
It summons monsters from another world in an inexhaustible supply.
Gilles de Rais is not a legitimate magus himself and has no groundings in magecraft, but in exchange this grimoire can exercise magecraft.
Level 4 Bond
At first, Gilles got involved in alchemy along with his friend, the cleric François Prelati, in order to cover up for financial difficulties, but at some point he lost sight of the original purpose and began to concentrate on summoning of demons.
Level 5 Bond
As others began fearing that he would sell over his domains to an enemy nation in order to raise money, as an excuse for the seizure of his territory, Gilles was convicted for his past misdeeds and executed. The censures towards his blasphemy and cruel deeds were all nothing but political pretenses.
Interlude
This man, who couldn't help but hold suspicions against God exactly because he extolled God too much and infatuated himself with scornfully curse God, was finally destroyed without being judged by God. Probably, only a Master who shows understanding towards such zeal and despair can perfectly employ him as a Servant.ジル・ド・レェ - キャスター

[] Fate/Zero material - Encyclopedia: Gilles de Rais [Servant], p.097-098 Gilles de Rais [Servant]
A nobleman from 15th Century France. As a leader in the French army, he fought alongside Jeanne d'Arc to put an end to the Hundred Years War, and was hailed as a hero who saved his country. But soon after he returned to his territory, he began kidnapping, raping, and killing young boys one after another, eventually coming to be feared as the villain "Bluebeard".
However, it was all-too-common in that era for nobles to disregard the human rights of commoners and treat the populations of their territories as disposable livestock. So, under normal circumstances even killing them en masse shouldn't have been treated as anything more serious than animal abuse. But unfortunately for Gilles, he had an enormous amount of land holdings at the time, far exceeding those held by the Duke of Brittany, and enough to be regarded as a threat by the king himself. On top of that, due to his mind-boggling wastefulness in his private life, his public finances were almost entirely depleted, and there were apprehensions that he may try to sell his land to enemy nations. As a result, he was condemned and executed for his crimes as a pretext for seizing control of his assets.
As for Gilles' relation to sorcery, he turned to alchemy in an attempt to relieve his financial difficulties, and eventually strayed down a dark path that led him to try summoning a demon. But while it's certainly true that he participated in the ceremony, the actual magus was his friend François Prelati – Gilles himself was nothing more than a patron. As such, he is not a Heroic Spirit that qualifies for the Caster class. Or rather, he is not even a proper Heroic Spirit at all. The fact that Ryuunosuke's bogus ritual ended up actually completing a summoning sorcery was, honestly, more or less a total fluke. In that sense, the "Caster" Gilles de Rais is just as much of an irregular Servant as the "Assassin" Sasaki Kojirou.
