The door is old and rusty, constantly creaking as it opens. While the rest of the house is unsuited to be a magus' workshop, the storehouse is suitable enough for a makeshift area for magi to work. The house is too open, letting magical energy flow about freely, so the closed nature is suitable as long as a magic circle can be established. Irisviel von Einzbern utilized it in the Fourth Grail War, leaving the Magic Circle that is later used to summon Saber, and Shirou utilizes it for his daily meditation and practice. He stores broken appliances and failures in projection magecraft. He has a special love for it, and often spends time fixing items within.

A festival celebrating the legend of a traveling monk and the dragon god of Miongawa that rampaged in Fuyuki a long, long, time ago. Used to take place in the fall and the summer, but now is only held in the summer. Using his power (houriki, spiritual power) the monk used incantation and prayer on the dragon god for three days and three nights. At the end of that, he converted the dragon god (more like tricked the simple bloke). The monk joined Ryuudou Temple later and the dragon god taught juudou to the monks over there to pass the time. None of this probably happened since there have only been a few monks in Ryuudou Temple historically with that sort of power. The festival is not exactly that well-known anymore.

Fuyuki

Map of Fuyuki

Fuyuki City (冬木市, Fuyuki-shi?) is the setting for Fate/Zero, Fate/stay night, Fate/hollow ataraxia, and Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA. It is separated into two sections by the river Mion that can be considered two towns, Shinto and Miyama City, which are the new and old sections of city respectively. While not based directly on a real city, many of the locations are based on those located in KobeWP.[1] The distance between Fuyuki City and Misaki Town is equivalent to the distance of KantōWP and KyushuWP,[2] with the prologue of Fate/Grand Order confirming that Fuyuki is actually located on the island of Kyushu, somewhere in the Kumamoto PrefectureWP or the Ōita PrefectureWP.

Locations

Miyama Town

Miyama Town (深山町, Miyama-chō?) is the suburban area of Fuyuki that contains old houses and traditional buildings. It can be split into two main parts, the traditional Japanese houses district and the foreigners' houses district. The road to Homurahara Academy, where the protagonist studies, is set between the two districts.

The intersection road connects to the shopping street, the school, the northern and southern parts of town, and to the bridge.

The Matou and Tohsaka residences are located in the foreigners' district, while Shirou's and the Fujimuras' houses are in the traditional district.

There is a shopping district somewhere in Miyama, apparently pretty close to Shirou's place as he walks to and from there to do his everyday shopping.

Emiya residence

The Emiya residence (衛宮邸, Emiya-tei?) is the home of Shirou Emiya and Kiritsugu Emiya, located on the northern end (where the Japanese style houses are) of Miyama Town.

It is a large, old building located on the northern end of Miyama, and a Japanese-style building with a classical elegance befitting the area. Even within the old style of Miyama, it is of a rare style, and it can be considered a rare example of architectural history. Though it was large and previously unused, its history made it so it was never torn down even in its degradation and having taken up a large amount of space in an area of civic planning.

It has a very old storehouse built on the edge of the yard, which utilizes a key cast in an ancient style far different from the modern cylindrical kind utilized in the rest of the estate.

It was bought for the purpose of being used as the Einzbern headquarters in the Fourth Holy Grail War after the Einzbern Castle was damaged to the point it could no longer be utilized. Its close proximity to the Tohsaka and Matou residences, while dangerous, was thought to be the safest choice due to the unpredictability of the choice. It had been unused for a long period of time, but still showed signs of renovation. The yard was unkempt at the time, and the interior was full of dust. Kiritsugu continued to occupy it with his adopted son after the Holy Grail War, and Shirou, with help from Raiga Fujimura, managed it after his death. The Fujimura group send flowers to the Emiya residence every month.[3] The mansion suited Kiritsugu for having never been glamorous but it feels pretty luxurious for a student in some way. It accommodated Taiga Fujimura's littering habits well, but it seemed that Shirou cleaned up every time and put the junk away in the storehouse.[4]

The Emiya Residence's Barrier (衛宮邸の結界, Emiya-tei no Kekkai?), constructed by Kiritsugu, surrounds the property, warning the residents about individuals with malicious intentions entering its perimeter through a ringing bell on the ceiling. It is very well made, and unlike the one set on the Tohsaka residence, it is possible to feel a human quality from it. It possesses neither offensive nor defensive capabilities, but its detection powers are excellent. It is able to warn of a Servant's frontal assault, but Caster is able to easily disable it and True Assassin can sneak in without trouble.

Tohsaka residence

The Tohsaka residence (遠坂邸, Tōsaka-tei?) is located on the southern end where the western style houses are. Known throughout the neighborhood for being a haunted house. No, it is not haunted.

It is a two-story mansion that also contains a basement. The mansion is protected by a strong barrier. It has been the home of the Tohsaka family for at least two generations.

In the second Grail War, the evocation site of the Grail was held at Tohsaka mansion. In the fourth Grail War, it was used as Tokiomi Tohsaka's base of operations. His daughter, Rin Tohsaka, also uses it for this purpose during the fifth Grail War.

Matou residence

The Matou residence (間桐邸, Matō-tei?) is located on the southern end (where the western style houses are) of Miyama Town.

The mansion contains a basement used as a training ground for the magi of the Matou family. However, the basement is actually the breeding ground for Zouken Matou's Crest Worms.

Homurahara Academy

Homurahara Academy (穂群原学園, Homurahara Gakuen?) is the local high school. They also have the Homurahara Academy Elementary School Division (穂群原学園小等部?), featured primarily in Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA.

The school features a large archery range for the Archery Club.

During the Fifth Grail War, the school became a preferred location for activating Rider's Blood Fort Andromeda, and thus became the battleground for those who wished to confront Rider.

Mount Miyama

Mount Miyama (マウント深山, Maunto Miyama?) is the shopping district in Miyama Town.

 • Koushuuensaikan Taizan (紅洲宴歳館・泰山, Kōshūensaikan Taizan?) is the only Chinese restaurant in Miyama Town. It is operated by the manager Batsu, renowned for having extremely spicy food. Kotomine frequents the restaurant for mapo tofu.
 • Edomaeya - A food stand in Miyama Town. Sells taiyaki for 80 yen each. On the other hand, the stores in Verde have a better selection. Popular among the students.
 • Singing Birds Retreat (詠鳥庵, Eichō Iori?) - The antique store where Rider works.
 • Flower Shop - One of the many places where Lancer works.

Riverside park

Riverside park (海浜公園, Kaihin kōen?) is located by the bridge.

Mount Enzou

Mount Enzou (円蔵山, Enzō-yama?)

Ryuudou Temple

Ryuudou Temple (柳洞寺, Ryūdō-ji?) is a mountain temple on the outskirts of Miyama, like the name suggested it is owned by Ryuudou family and the current head of the temple is led by Issei Ryuudou and Reikan Ryuudou's father.

40 minute dash from Emiya residence. Acts as the keystone of the Fuyuki leylines. Can be said to be the heart of the Fuyuki spiritual grounds. Built on top of a fallen leyline.

As the name suggests, it is the very heart of the city that functions as the keystone of Fuyuki's leylines. It has a mountainside lake that is one of the four possible places for the Holy Grail to manifest. The Greater Grail resides within an enormous cavern beneath the temple, and during the Heaven's Feel scenario, the giant cave-in causes them to take several years to recover. The reason for the collapse was not Angra Mainyu's disappearance, but instead Rin Tohsaka utilizing the Jeweled Sword of Zelretch with no restraint. It can be said Issei was correct in his assumptions about her, truly making him worthy as the Temple's successor for recognizing her as an enemy of Buddhism.[5]

Souichirou Kuzuki was living amongst the monks and the Ryuudou family. In the fifth Grail War, Souichirou rescued Caster and allowed her to stay in the temple. Caster used the temple as her workshop and used the mountain gate to summon Assasssin as the guardian.

Ten no Sakazuki

The massive cavern where the Greater Holy Grail was created. Three kilometers in diameter. Also, the symbol of the contract of Angra Mainyu. The location of the Black Holy Grail. Has properties similar to a bounded barrier.

Shinto

Shinto (新都?) is the newer district of Fuyuki that is under development east of the Mion River. Around the 1990s, the area was reclaimed from a previously empty wasteland, beginning a large-scale redevelopment project funded by the local government to build a modern business district containing features like a park and shopping mall in front of the train station. The City Hall being was moved from Miyama to give it a more modern structure, and the maintenance of the park and shopping mall were complete. Although the buildings were only forty percent complete at the time, it was constantly crowded during holidays.

The purpose was for it to be a clean and sterile area that would be pompous and contain no individuality, but it suffered a major setback after the Fourth Holy Grail War when the advent and destruction of the Holy Grail caused a conflagration that destroyed 134 buildings and claimed five hundred lives after burning for an entire day. Much of the city was rebuilt over the next ten years, rapidly developing with tall buildings over the destroyed land. Rin Tohsaka believes the rushing left the town looking very artificial.

Center Building

Center Building (センタービル, Sentā Biru?) is the highest building in Fuyuki. Four kilometers away from the bridge.

Fuyuki City Hyatt Hotel

Fuyuki City Hyatt Hotel (冬木市ハイアットホテル, Fuyuki-shi Haiatto Hoteru?) is the hotel located in the Centerville neighborhood. In the Fourth Grail War, Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi and Sola-Ui Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri used the hotel as their headquarters until Kiritsugu destroyed it with explosives. It was later rebuilt, Bazett Fraga McRemitz was staying there before the fifth grail war.

Harbor

Lancer's (lost) heaven. It is the spot where Lancer fishes during the events of Fate/hollow ataraxia. The heaven becomes "lost" to him when Archer and Gilgamesh begin a fishing competition there.

Kiritsugu used to leave and come back to Fuyuki using the harbor.

Fuyuki Station

One hour walk from the Tohsaka residence. Constructed several years ago.

Semina Apartments

Semina Apartments (蝉菜マンション, Semina Manshon?) is an apartment building located in block four of the Kurokizaka district. It is an L-shaped building that contains two apartments per floor, occupying the entire horizontal part of the L and entire vertical part of the L respectively. The entrance to the building is located in the center of it, containing a door leading to an elevator and the emergency stairwell of the building. Room two of the eleventh floor is a four-bedroom residence. Each apartment features a four-meter-long hallway between the living room and the front door, an unusual design without any utility rooms for storage or a bathroom. Each apartment hallway has lights with the exception of room two of the eleventh floor due to a structural flaw allowing for no space for their installation.

The building was the site of a family suicide in room one on the eleventh floor. After a married couple and their three-year-old daughter, called Little Red Riding Hood moved into the apartment, the wife attacked and killed her husband with a knife, slashed her daughter, and then killed herself. It is unknown exactly what happened to the daughter, and the neighbor in room two, Mr. A, disappeared a month later. Both became the subject of rumors and a ghost story told by Ayako Mitsuduri.

Fuyuki Church

The Fuyuki Church (冬木教会, Fuyuki Kyōkai?) is located on top of a hill and an one-hour walk from Miyama Town (Emiya residence). It was constructed before World War II. In the second grail war, the evocation site of the Grail was set to be at the Fuyuki Church.

After the fourth grail war, Kirei gathered the orphans left by the fire in the Church under the pretense of using it is an orphanage. Through unknown means, he managed to erase their existence and seal them within the basement of the Church.

The Church is Kirei's primary base of operations during the fifth grail war. It is also where he hides his two servants, Lancer and Gilgamesh. In the Unlimited Blade Works route, Caster takes over the Church. Following Kirei's death and the fifth grail war, Caren Hortensia inherits ownership of the Church.

Foreign Cemetery

Fuyuki Foreign Cemetery

The Foreign Cemetery (外人墓地, Gaijin Bochi?) is a graveyard for the foreigners that moved into Fuyuki long ago.

Fuyuki Civic Center

The Fuyuki Civic Center (冬木市民会館, Fuyuki-shi Tami Kaikan?) is a building formally of Miyama until it was to be moved to Shinto during the 1990s. The location happened to be that of one of the four advent locations of the Holy Grail, and it was destroyed along with much of Shinto in the conflagration at the end of the Fourth Holy Grail War. The area was turned into a park, and it is unknown where it was relocated.

The building of the 1990s was in the process of being moved piece by piece to steal all central municipal functions from Miyama. They wished for a modern structure of iron, glass, and mortar to be the physical symbol of the area's development along with the Central Building at the cost of eight billion yen. It was designed by a prestigious architect, creating a design meant to make it as majestic and splendid as an ancient shrine. The building covered an area of 6600 square meters, contained 4700 square meters of usable space, and was designed to house four floors and one basement level. It contained a two-story music hall able accommodate around three thousand patrons. At the time of its destruction, only its exterior was complete. In preparation for the commemoration ceremony, it was to be decorated and still could not be used in a practical manner.

Fuyuki Central Park

Park

Fuyuki Central Park

Fuyuki Central Park (冬木中央公園, Fuyuki Chūō Kōen?), formerly part of the residential district and the location of the City Hall, is a park in the center of Shinto. It was the location of the advent of the Holy Grail during the Fourth Holy Grail War. It was the center of the conflagration, and while much of the city was rebuilt, the area of the park was left bare afterward. The location should be popular with children even on weekdays due to its size and organization, but the story behind the area leaves it barren aside from a few people for the most part.

The area is full of grudges, strong negative feelings left over that can be felt by Spirits, and it is on a completely different level compared to any other such area in the city. Archer compares it to a Reality Marble in that sense.

Copenhagen

Copenhagen (コペンハーゲン, Kopenhāgen?) is where Shirou works.[6] Run by Neko's father. Liquor shop x pub sort of place.

Fuyuki Central Library

Located in the middle of the Fuyuki citizen's park during the 4th war. Shutters ended up getting wrecked by an Iskandar who decided to take the books out.

Verde

Verde (ヴェルデ, Verude?) is the biggest shopping center in town.

 • Fancy Shop - The name of the biggest stuffed animal store in Shinto.
 • Tea shop

Exciting Splash

Exciting Splash (わくわくざぶーん, Wakuwaku Zabūn?) - An indoor swimming pool owned by Gilgamesh. There's a current pool, a wave pool, a big water slide, an unbelievably high diving board, a pool for racing; and on top of that there's all the nameless pools used for other attractions.

Ahnenerbe

Edefelt's Twins Mansions

During the events of Fate/hollow ataraxia, Bazett was staying in one of these mansions throughout the loops. One is located close to the Tohsaka residence, and the other is located close to the Fuyuki Church.

Center

Fuyuki Bridge

Fuyuki Bridge (冬木大橋, Fuyuki Ōhashi?) located at the center of Fuyuki City bridging both Miyami Town and Shinto.

In the fourth grail war, it was the final stage between Archer and Rider.

Mion River

The Mion River (未遠川, Mion-gawa?) is the river that divides Fuyuki in half.

Ryuujin Matsuri

Sewers

In the fourth Grail war, Ryuunosuke Uryuu and Caster used the sewers as their hideout and workshop. They kidnap children and perform inhuman torture for their art.

Waver Velvet managed to track down Caster's lair by alchemy.

Suburbs

Einzbern Castle

The castle-villa found at the forest in the outskirts of Fuyuki City, it was brought from the Einzbern homeland to serve as a base for the Masters of the family during the Heaven’s Feel rituals. At the same time, it is the workshop of Illyasviel von Einzbern. It was build to look like a “コ” when viewed from above. In Fate/zero, Kiritsugu Emiya and Irisviel von Einzbern, along with the other members of the Einzbern faction (Saber and Maiya Hisau) utilize the castle as their headquarters for at least part of the fourth Heaven's Feel.

Four hours from the entrance of the forest by foot. The castle’s defenses are perfect: a spiritual defensive wall activates itself by Illyasviel's order whenever intruders approach. Perfect anti-spiritual processes are also performed so that the spirits inside the Einzbern forest do not enter.

The existence of the castle is not publicly known, but it seems that people who get lost at the forest have found their way into it by chance in the past.

The interior decoration is outrageously luxurious. Although it hasn’t been used for over 10 years, there is wine cellar that can be accessed from a passage at left area from the lobby. The courtyard, which is managed by Sella, is the coldest area inside the castle and, as per Illya’s desires, it has a flowerbed installed. As this is just a stronghold for the Holy Grail War, it is quite frugal for the Einzbern’s standards.

It had to go through large-scale repairs because of the Winchester incident, in which Rin Tohsaka turned the third floor upside down, and even after the repairs which finished in October that floor was still considered dangerous.

Einzbern Forest

The virgin forest, or rather mountain range, found at the outskirts of Fuyuki city.[7] About 30 kilometers to the west of Fuyuki’s urban area. It is possible to reach the entrance of the forest after a one-hour run of car in the highway that comes out from Miyamacho and then a one kilometer walk through the grove. One hour drive by taxi from Shinto.

Not only the name in the registration is of unknown substance, but it also became a privately-owned land of an uncertain foreign enterprise. Because the landowners (the Einzbern) refuse to develop the area, it turned into a literal sea of trees. Since the trees extend themselves to cover the sunlight coming from above, it is impossible to see more than 10 meters ahead inside the forest. Amidst all of it, there is a clearing of about 40 meters diameter with a square and some ruins.

Due of a lack of courage to set a stronghold in the middle of the Tohsaka territory, Jubstacheit von Einzbern purchased the closest land to Fuyuki with a leyline at the eve of the Third Holy Grail War. The Einzbern circled the forest with a bounded field to isolate it from the outside world and had one of the castles from the Einzbern homeland dismantled and then rebuild in the middle of it. The Tohsaka house earnestly engaged in negotiations for the concealment of the construction.

The large bounded field stretched throughout the area is to detect intruders and so long as their presence and magical energy are not suppressed they can be easily discovered. The level reaction that the bounded field gives to the intruder can be adjusted accordingly with the thoughts of Illyasviel. Furthermore, once in the inner sections it is possible to adjust the area-of-effect in order to support allied parties in combat.

The subject of many ghost stories, like those about the illusionary castle attended by maid sisters that only a brave man who had overcame countless ordeals can spend the night at, or that when entering the forest while aiming to the castle, the wraiths of soldiers of the old imperial army appear to send off the intruders to the battlefield.
