The Girl of the Moon (月の娘, Tsuki no Musume?) is an artificial "brain" for the Moon created by mankind and a predecessor of Storyteller Girl.
Profile[]
Background[]
She is a manifestation of the will of the Moon. She was created by humanity in order to ensure the Moon's existence and produce required resources. Generally speaking, she is the "will" and the "mind" of the Moon itself.
As Storyteller Girl's story goes, she spent many years decorating the moon surface, going as far as creating an artificial forest with trees made of limestone. However, after waiting for many years for someone to show up, she fell into a deep slumber.
Personality[]
Upon the Man's arrival on the moon, the girl has been alone, sleeping for centuries. Thus, she lacks any personality and human traits. After her various interactions with the newcomer, she gradually develops human emotions and will. When the Man sees her off the Moon, she confesses that he was the first person she fell in love with.
Appearance[]
She looks very much like a normal human being, exception being her arms which look more like coral sprouts that pin her to the ground. She has long blonde hair and alabaster skin. She wears a kimono made of unknown material.
Role[]
Tsuki no Sango[]
She makes her first appearance in Storyteller Girl's story. She is said to have been created in order to support the Moon's existence and provide it with resources. She constructs various structures on the surface of the moon, such as the forest with trees made of limestone. After many years of solitude she falls into a deep slumber.
After many centuries she is encountered by the Man of the Earth. He is dumbstruck by her presence on the moon, as he originally left the Earth to avoid communication with any human being. He begins to visit the girl two times a day with the intention of refilling resources. He tells her many stories about the Earth and how life used to be there. One day he attempts to take the kimono off the Girl, resulting in him being thrown 3 kilometres away. It is then he has understood that the girl can display some form of emotions and will.
Since that day, the girl has started to behave and look more "human". She manifests her arms and legs instead of coral-like sprouts that used to keep her pinned to the ground. She even tries to help the man to fix the limestone trees, bringing him broken-off branches. Moreover, she manages to form vocal cords for herself and makes various attempts to talk to the stranger, though he doesn't understand her speech at first.
However, the more the Girl becomes "human", the more the moon starts to degrade. The Girl grows weaker each day, spending over 80 percent of her time sleeping. In order to save the girl, the Man repairs his rocket to send the Girl to the Earth. As the rocket flies off, both of them exchange their last words with each other. At the end, the man admits that she was the first person he liked.
The rocket eventually lands in the ocean and the girl forms an island with a coral reef around her, where Storyteller Girl and her colony would later live.
Abilities[]
She is originally a being that was created in order to be the "soul and mind" of the moon. The girl is able to drastically change her surrounding. She herself managed to create a whole forest made of limestone. The Girl created a fancy-looking limestone chair for the Man after his arrival. After her landing on the Earth she changed the landscape around the landing pod, creating a big island with a coral reef that shines under the intense moonlight.
