Profile[]
Identity[]
Appearance[]
As Hyde, he has an appearance similar to a werewolf with black fur covering his body, a large jaw, sharp fangs, and a beast-like, humanoid form. His eyes glow upon seeing the full moon.
As Jekyll, he is shown to be fancily dressed in a white dress shirt, an olive green vest, and a black and grey jacket draped across his shoulders. He wears a black and white cravat with a red jewel around his neck, and leather gloves over his hands.
After Jekyll is corrupted by the Holy Grail, he takes on a darker appearance. Jekyll now wears black clothes and has gold eyes.
Since Hyde has also become the main personality as a result of the corruption. he can only maintain his human form for an hour at most. But when he does become human, Hyde takes on a appearance similar to his Assassin form only now he has fangs and claws where his hands are supposed to be.
Hyde also emits a black miasma from his mouth.
Personality[]
He, as Hyde, is insane and uncontrollable due to Mad Enhancement. As Jekyll, he is well-mannered and kind, going so far as to offer to teach his Master what he knows of Alchemy if he were to wish it.
After Jekyll is corrupted by the Holy Grail, Hyde becomes the main personality.
Role[]
Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Sky Silver[]
Day 1 - Summoning[]
Berserker is unknowingly summoned by Tatsumi Kitano from a black notebook and an old fountain pen left behind by his grandfather. After calming Tatsumi down, Berserker informs him about the Holy Grail War. Around 1 am, Tatsumi takes Berserker with him to a nearby convenience store. Admiring the plastic wrapping around the rice, Berserker accidentally opens it and Tatsumi is forced to pay for it.
Day 3 - Hero of Justice[]
On the third day of the Holy Grail War, Tatsumi shows Berserker around Shinjuku. Later that night, Tatsumi takes Berserker to the rooftop of the Keiou department store to go stargazing. While there, Berserker explains his past. How he is actually a fictional Heroic Spirit of someone who became the model for the character of Jekyll and Hyde and about the effects of his Noble Phantasm. Berserker then relays his wish of wanting to become a hero of justice to Tatsumi. Tatsumi agrees and declares that he wants to stop the Holy Grail War for his own reasons too. They then decide to target Master Reiroukan first.
Day 4 - First Strike[]
On day four, Berserker, as Hyde, launch an assault on the Reiroukan estate. However, Berserker has trouble getting through Caster's defenses. Just as he is about to lose control, Berserker is rescued by Tatsumi using his mystic eye. The pair then retreat for the night. At a nearby park, Berserker lays Tatsumi down on a bench. Berserker warns Tatsumi that using his eye comes with the loss of his life force. The pair then chat about what they learned about Caster’s workshop and confirm that the Reiroukans have a Servant
Arriving home, Tatsumi turns on the radio to a late night program where they learn of the Miss Mary rumors. Listening, Berserker suggests that Miss Mary is a Servant.
Day 5 - Meeting Elza Saijo[]
On day five, Tatsumi and Berserker are eating at a hamburger fast food shop. As they eat, Berserker reveals what he found from the police. Tatsumi then reveals that he has heard rumours from a friend about a ghost in Akihabara and they decide to check it out.
That night, Tatsumi and Berserker head to Akihabara. While there, Tatsumi searches the area while Berserker gives Tatsumi instructions. Suddenly, Tatsumi spots someone fitting the description, so he uses his mystic eye on her. Grabbing her, Tatsumi is shocked when the woman is revealed to be Elza Saijo and asks for her help in stopping the Holy Grail War. Shaking off the effects of his mystic eye, Elza warns the pair about the dangers of being too naïve.
Later, they make another attempt on the Reiroukan mansion. However, this ends in failure too.
Day 6 - Meeting with Lancer[]
On the sixth day of the Holy Grail War, Berserker uses himself as bait to lure out Lancer. Succeeding, Tatsumi explains their goals to Lancer and ask to meet her Master. Lancer refuses and leaves. Elza then appears and reminds Tatsumi what she told him last night.
A short while later, Elza and Tatsumi sit down in a family restaurant. As they chat, Tatsumi reveals that what they are really in Ikebukuro for is to investigate the Miss Mary rumors. Elza reveals to them that what they are looking for is Assassin, but is appalled by Tatsumi's lack of knowledge. Confronting him, Elza asks if he has registered at the church in Ochanomizu. Tatsumi replies that he hasn't, so Elza urges him to do so.
Elza then changes the subject about them loitering around Ikebukuro. Tatsumi then blurts what they did last night, causing Berserker to make an embarrassed sigh at Tatsumi's simple-minded recklessness. Sighing, Elza scolds Tatsumi again for his naivete and leaves.
Day 8 - Encountering Saber and Death[]
Around 1 am on the eighth day, Berserker attacks the Reiroukan mansion again. Finding a tear in the mansion's bounded fields, Berserker goes through and discovers a hiding Misaya Reiroukan. As Berserker is about to attack her, she is saved by Saber. He is then first seen in the light of Saber's Excalibur, and displays fear towards the sword. He then retreats.
In the afternoon, Berserker accompanies his Master to Ochanomizu where they have lunch together. After lunch, they head to the church to register. Along the way, Berserker informs Tatsumi Kitano of the events from early that morning and of his concerns. Tatsumi cheers Berserker up and declares that he will stop the Holy Grail War. Arriving at the church, Tatsumi insists on going in alone with Berserker telling him to be on guard. Berserker then waits outside until Tatsumi is done talking with the Overseer.
Later that night, Berserker again makes another attempt on Caster. While Berserker goes to attack the mansion, Tatsumi watches from an nearby empty apartment. Suddenly, Berserker senses Tatsumi's death and decides to make one last attempt to take down the Reiroukan Master before he fades away. He then becomes the first Servant to be defeated in the Holy Grail War of 1991, as he is killed by a combination of attacks from almost all of the other Servant's weapons including Saber's sword, Archer's arrows, Lancer's 5-strike combination and by one of the blasts emanating from Rider's solar ship Noble Phantasm, Mesektet.
Day 16 - The Final Battle[]
During Saber's battle with the Beast, Berserker appears again in Saber's mind, and encourages Saber to fight.[2] He then becomes one of the Servants who lends Saber his power when Saber activates Excalibur.[3]
Eight years later, a shadow of Berserker is seen again as one of Manaka's Grail corrupted Servants. This time, he is determined to kill and devour Lancer.
Abilities[]
He usually keeps himself in his Jekyll form. He states that, while he is in this form, even though he is still an existence that a human should not be able to match, he is powerless compared to other Servants. However, in exchange for this, he lacks the unique presence that Servants give off, granting him Presence Concealment, which is usually limited to the Assassin class.
In his life, Jekyll considers himself to have been a great scholar. While he limited himself to subjects that were not related to Magecraft for the most part, he does say that he has some skill at alchemy and would be willing to teach his Master if he so wished.
His Noble Phantasm is Dangerous Game, the transformation elixir, which allows him to turn into Mr. Hyde, the second personality inside his body that claimed so many victims in his life. Upon drinking it, his form changes, becoming covered in black fur, his spine cracking, his muscles expanding and growing long canines and sharp claws and his eyes becoming blood red, making him somewhat similar in appearance to a werewolf. In this form, his stamina greatly increases, as well as his strength and speed. He gains several skills that make him suitable for close quarters combat, most noticeably, a skill that he calls "Restructuring", which grants him a high enough recovery ability, so that he is confident that he can recover even from being hit by a Noble Phantasm.
He shows himself able to endure Paracelsus's heavily layered defenses and break into his Bounded Field, but he only is able to fight Arthur for a small amount of time since he is being burdened by the barrier and because his master is inexperienced.
He also proves himself worthy of his boast regarding his recovery ability, as even with his Master dead and not possessing any form of Independent Action, he is able to survive for a sizable amount of time even while facing Arash, Brynhildr and Arthur at the same time and being wounded by them several times. Even after he is hit by a beam of light by Ozymandias, he still has enough strength left to attack Arthur, requiring the swordsman to stab him through the heart before he is ultimately brought down.
