Hieda-no-AreWP (稗田阿礼WP?), Class Name Caster (キャスター, Kyasutā?), is the Caster-class Servant summoned by Tsuchimikado Yasuhiro in the Waxing Moon Ritual of Fate/Samurai Remnant. In the "A Ray of Light" route he becomes the Servant of Zheng Chenggong after Yasuhiro's death.
Profile[]
Identity[]
A man who is said to have helped compile the ancient Japanese record called the KojikiWP. Due to his extraordinary memory, he was tasked by O-no-YasumaroWP to memorize various literary texts which would be compiled into the Kojiki. However, he is a figure largely shrouded in mystery. It is not known for certain whether he was a man or woman, or even if he really existed at all.[2]
Appearance[]
Caster wears ankle-length robes made of alternating panels of grey and teal material, with a white mandala on the back and Arabesque patterning on the sleeves. He secures the robe using red sashes. He has pale skin and wear his nails painted black. Bloody wounds are on the palms of both hands.
Personality[]
Are gives an obstinate, nitpicky, and unreasonable impression. He is not an author, so he insists that his writings should be called "records" instead of literature. His wish for the Waxing Moon Ritual is that all records in the world are perfectly preserved and accurate ("accurate" being defined by him). Doing so would mean confirming that he really existed.[1] Although he acknowledges the effect Mystery has on reality, he believes things of mystery such as Demons, Gods, Dragons, Magecraft, Heroic Spirits, and Noble Phantasms are "illusions" and merely fantasies created and made manifest by human imagination. In other words, he believes Mystery does not exist in the human world and that such things are only myth, and states that his wish for the Waxing Moon will cause the erasure of Mystery and have all things related to Mystery be no longer able to exist by proving them as lies.[3]
His obsession with recording various phenomena, as well as his preoccupation with memory, may have been born out of a desire to find proof of his own unsubstantiated existence.[2]
Although his class is Caster, he prefers to be called "Recorder".[1]
Role[]
Fate/Samurai Remnant[]
Caster runs the Waxing Moon Ritual from behind the scenes.[4]
Keian Command Championship[]
Alongside his Master's brother, Caster observes Yasuhiro's efforts in summoning a Divine Spirit, despite warning him that it wouldn't work the way he believes and predicts his Master would regret it. Days later, soon after his Master summoned Ibuki-douji who escaped him and was captured by Ruler, he amusingly derides Yasuhiro's efforts but aids him in unsealing Ibuki-douji while recording the events.
In Caster's and Yasuhiro's route, upon releasing Ibuki-douji, she supports the two and brings victory for them. Though soon after, Caster would amusingly account that when Yasuhiro believed he no longer needed the Waxing Moon, Ibuki-Douji would return and promptly steal the wish-granter for herself. She would use it to incarnate herself and forcibly moved into Yasuhiro's home. Caster observed while simply telling his Master to be more magnanimity, to his Master's regrets.
Abilities[]
Despite his class, Are can't use advanced Magecraft, and his Item Construction and Territory Creation Skills are weak. He's the kind of Servant that relies almost solely on the strength of his Noble Phantasm, but his Noble Phantasm is difficult to use. He shines only in niche situations.[1]
He claims to have clairvoyance, but it is unknown if he means the skill or just in a general sense. He can foretell the future with accuracy, though not with perfection.[5] In combat he can use his clairvoyance to see incoming attacks before they are made and evade them.
Hieda-no-Are uses Familiars that resemble flying eyeballs with hands for wings.
