The Holy Grail War (聖杯戦争?) taking place within the Imperial Capital Singularity is a system developed by Caster Akechi Mitsuhide to collect numerous Servant Saint Graphs over the duration of many consecutive Holy Grails Wars to bring about his ideal form of Oda Nobunaga.

Unlike a typical Holy Grail War, Servants have no Masters and must compete in a preliminary round of sorts to secure one of the seven classes for themselves. Once a Servant has won a battle for a class and is registered as that class, they will gain support from the Holy Grail so long as they are in their territory.[1] Said territories are established within the area of a Holy Grail fragment.[2] As long as an official Servant remains within their territory they will have their mana constantly replenished[3] and be bestowed with the Grail's blessing. The effect of said blessing differ depending on the Heroic Spirit and their class.[1] For example, Okita Souji is unaffected by her illness.[3] How strong the blessing is depends on the size of a Servant's territory as territories and Grail fragments work in parallel. For this reason, Servants compete for territory.[1]
In truth, though, the entirety of the Imperial Capital is the territory of Akechi Mitsuhide.[4]
