Ibuki-doujiWP (伊吹童子?), Class Name Stray Ruler (逸れのルーラー, Hagure no Rūrā?), is a Ruler-class Stray Servant summoned by Tsuchimikado Yasuhiro in the Waxing Moon Ritual of Fate/Samurai Remnant. She is sealed away by Gilgamesh, who utilizes the Keian Command Championship to attempt to drain her remaining energy. She allies with Master Tsuchimikado Yasuhiro during the tournament, and later helps Master Miyamoto Iori in the real world.
Profile[]
Identity[]
Both a Divine Spirit and a Divided Spirit of Yamata-no-Orochi, a great monster who is worshiped as "the Great God Ibuki" and who she calls "Daddy".[1]
She was also the one who rescued Koga Saburo when he was trapped outside of the human realm.
Appearance[]
Miyamoto Musashi claims that Ibuki's beauty is otherwordly.[2]
Personality[]
Despite her status as a deity, Ibuki-douji is light hearted and playful. She talks to others casually and doesn't take offence to being insulted. Her greatest desire is to simply be entertained, whether that be by exploring the sights of Edo or fighting the other Servants. How ever, she is still a deity and can make selfish decisions for the sake of her own amusement, such as demanding that other Servants fight her until she is satisfied or threatening that she would be less well behaved if Boss didn't team up with her.
She is also insightful on the nature of others, capable of realizing Rider wasn't the same one she knew, while sensing a person's inner feelings. Creating illusions that matched a person's grief and regrets simply by looking at them. Ibuki-douji also has fun teasing others, though can get lonely quickly which causes her to seek others for company.
Relationships[]
- Ibuki takes a quick liking to Iori, contemplating devouring him whole until Saber informs her that Iori has a life and loved ones, but is content in knowing that they will meet again. She shows disappointment upon learning that he had forgotten about their encounter, but decided to make the best of it by offering herself as a recruitable servant.
- She possesses a particular interest in Saber, hypothesizing that she was summoned specifically to test their sword. After being defeated, she is satisfied with how Saber wields the blade and is confident that her "daddy" would give his approval as well.
- She and Rider possess a familiarity with each other, with Rider wishing to slay her, though Ibuki notes that because Rider's Saint Graph is different, they are essentially a different person. After being defeated by Rider and Yui, Ibuki tells Rider she has no problem fighting her later, which Rider accepts.
- Saburo and Ibuki-douji met each other when Kouga became lost outside the human realm, where rescued him. She calls him "Sabu" while he calls her "Elder Sister" at her insistence (though she prefers "big sis").
- Ibuki-Douji was summoned by Yasuhiro in order to win the Waxing Moon Ritual, only to leave under his watch when he wasn't looking. For the most part, Ibuki is rather playful with Yasuhiro, who reluctantly allows for her to do whatever she desires. Ibuki ultimately aids Yasuhiro and grants him victory, but steals the wish-granter and incarnates herself before living with him, much to his chagrin.
Role[]
Fate/Samurai Remnant[]
Ibuki-douji appeared as a Stray Servant in the Waxing Moon Ritual, called by Tsuchimikado Yasuhiro's dark magecraft.[1] While his intentions were to use her in order to quickly end the war, he was unable to control her and she wandered off, wanting to see everything the era had to offer. Recognizing her sheer power and the threat she posed to Edo, the Grail War's arbiter Boss tricked her into getting drunk before sealing her away. He then created the Keian Command Championship with the intention of it draining her of her Magical Energy until she disappeared.[2]
Ibuki-douji's seal was broken part way though the championship by Yasuhiro and Caster, but they found her personality exasperating and gave up on working with her. Ibuki-douji then convinced Gilgamesh to allow her to compete in the tournament as well. After expending her power in the finals she said farewell and vanished, but the next morning as Miyamoto Iori awoke and commented on the strange dream he had, Ibuki-douji watched him and said they'd meet again. After this, she approached Iori and Saber, offering help them if they called for her, officially making her a recruitable servant.
Abilities[]
Ibuki-douji is a Divided Spirit of Yamata-no-Orochi, one of Japan's Three Great Monsters. Due to this, she is a Divine Spirit well beyond the level of a common Heroic Spirit. In fact, Gilgamesh explains that everyday Magecraft could not summon even the tip of her tail. Nevertheless, during the Waxing Moon Ritual she was able to materialize as a Ruler-class Stray Servant. Even in this weakened state, she remains a threat to Edo and all of Kanto. Furthermore, Miyamoto Iori claims that her power is completely beyond mortal comprehension. However, her lack of a Master puts her at a disadvantage. Regardless of how powerful she may be, she cannot abide long without a Magical Energy supply.[2]
Due to the threat posed by Ibuki, Ruler Gilgamesh was forced to rely on Yamata-no-Orochi's legend where his heads were cut off after being intoxicated to seal Ibuki away. He put her to sleep with a stiff golden booze, and then crafted the Keian Command Championship as a means to dry up her Magical Energy. He decided to reward the winner of the tournament with a "Wish Granter that outshines the Moon itself" which had been secretly fueled with Ibuki's divine power. Without Ibuki, the wish granter loses a portion of its energy but the magical energy stored within remains abundant. It may not be able to grant any wish, but one befitting Takeru's station should be manageable.[2]
Much like the Ibuki-douji of the Heian-kyō Singularity, Ruler Ibuki can stun her opponents with her overwhelming divine aura. Miyamoto Iori describes it as a majestic eminence that moves the very earth.[2]
It is implied that revealing Ibuki's True Name puts her at a disadvantage just like it usually does for other Servants, as Yamato Takeru was shocked when she disclosed it. Ibuki explains that she exposed it to prove she didn't have any interest in the Waxing Moon.[2]
Combat[]
She can fight with her every part of her body, including her hair, and can summon tides, lava, tornadoes and lightning to attack with. Ibuki-douji can even summon monsters of different varieties, call upon illusions with substance that reflect their opponents' griefs and regrets, and empower a Servant such as Samson or Yamato Takeru to enhance their strength.[citation needed]
When Ushi Gozen and Yui Shousetsu were tasked with fighting Ibuki, the former requested approval to use her Noble Phantasm, claiming it should prove useful. While the sword Yasutsuna is certainly one part of her other Noble Phantasm, it wouldn't suffice to deal with a Spirit of Ibuki's caliber.[2]
Zhou Yu and Miyamoto Musashi believed that they stood a fair chance at defeating Ibuki, but Ibuki defeated them with ease nonetheless. Similarly, Yamato Takeru claimed that if he combined his strength with Koga Saburo, they wouldn't lose to Ibuki. Although Saburo doesn't believe that the curse tha dwells within him can surpass Ibuki, he refuses to back down. They are defeated nonetheless, but Ibuki states that their swords were just a hair's breath away from striking true. Finally, Ibuki defeats Minamoto-no-Raikou and Jeanne d'Arc simultaneously. Once everything is set and one, Ibuki claims that all the competitors put up a good fight and that Luck was surely a deciding factor. However, she's still not quite satisfied.[2]
Gilgamesh is wary of her, and is willing to go along with her request to fight alongside her rather than get her upset. However, Hieda-no-Are and Tsuchimikado Yasuhiro warn Ibuki that he would surely give Ibuki an ardous fight. Ibuki agrees that fighting him would be pointless if they weren't both going full-throttle. Ibuki defeats him as well.[2]
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Magic Resistance (A Rank): The highest rank of Anti-Magecraft, it negates all spells equivalent to Rank A or lower. As such, mages of this age cannot possibly cause any damage.
- Dragon-kind (EX Rank): As a Divided Spirit of the calamitous Dragon Yamata-no-Orochi, Ibuki-douji is both a Divine Spirit and a dragonkin.
- Divine Core of the Snake God (A Rank): Ibuki-douji has a Divine Core in her Saint Graph, granting her composite skills that have divine effects.
- Holy Ground (EX Rank): Having materialized as a Ruler, Ibuki-douji's divine properties are even more apparent. She can sanctify a large area around her as Holy Ground, a region enveloped in multiple Bounded Fields that can move along with the skill holder. This extraordinary ability effectively makes the user a walking fortress.
Noble Phantasm[]
Ibuki-douji's main Noble Phantasm is Octo-Pulsing Carnage Strike: Divine Laceration. She unleashes eight successive attacks of magical energy in the shape of Yamata-no-Orochi, sufficient enough in strength to crush any being on Earth. She finishes with a strike from Kusanagi, and even with the sword weakened in Fate/Samurai Remnant, the combined power of the attacks would be enough to destroy Edo if not for the protection of her Holy Ground.[3]
She still has access to Sword of Gods - Kusanagi-no-Tachi, but she has decided not to employ it after seeing that Yamato Takeru wields Amenomurakumo-no-Tsurugi.[3]
Other Capabilities[]
- While normally more snake-like in appearance, she possesses the ability to shapeshift at will and can take on a humanoid appearance that is nearly identical to the 3rd Ascension of her Saber counterpart.
Gameplay[]
Ibuki-douji has 4 Affinity Techniques she can use as a playable character.
- Lightning Lash: Envelops the tail in lighting while leaping into the air, and then slams it against the ground.
- Calamity: The summoned giant serpent unleashes a fearsome magical energy blast.
- Sword of Gods - Kusanagi-no-Tachi: Unleashes a cascade of slashing strikes with the divine sword, Kusunagi-no-Tachi.
- Grace: Divine energy wells up increasing the Noble Phantasm Gauge.
Development[]
Ibuki-douji was designed by Raita Honjou and illustrated by Rei Wataru in Fate/Samurai Remnant.
