Kojika Kumari (久万梨金鹿, Kumari Kojika?) is a character in Mahou Tsukai no Yoru. The treasurer of the Student Council, a friend of Soujuurou Shizuki from a previous part-time job, and classmate of him and Aoko Aozaki.

Background[]
Her first name Kojika (meaning Golden Deer) was borrowed by her father from the name of Francis Drake's ship as he is a massive sea pirate fanatic.[1] As the Kumari family and the Kinomi family are next-door neighbors, to the horror of Kojika, Housuke Kinomi and her are actually childhood friends.[3]
Her mother has passed away, leaving her to take care of her brothers. Though her father disapproves of her desire to attend college, Kojika still works hard to save money to attend anyways.
Her father is the owner of the Chinese restaurant the "Mad Bear".

She possesses a cool-mannered and realistic personality. She is very responsible as a result of being in charge of a household of brothers.[1] She dislikes how the men in her life look down on her and hates animals. She has a one sided crush on Tobimaru Tsukiji.
Role[]
Mahou Tsukai no Yoru[]
In the extra side story Potete dormire, ma nessun rida, she becomes the protagonist. The story takes place approximately a year after the main story of Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, as she and other characters go to Alice's mansion for a birthday party. The guests soon find themselves trapped in the mansion as the party turns into a murder scene. They find out this is caused by one of Alice's Ploys, Sweets Hearts, and that anyone who laughs will die, and the participants must find out which one of the guests is an impersonation by the familiar before they are all eliminated.[4]
In the end, it is revealed that not only is Soujuurou Shizuki impersonated by the Ploy, but that there are actually two impersonations, with the second one being Kojika herself. Kojika, having solved the mystery, decides to end everything despite the Ploy's temptation. The next day everyone wakes up without any memory of the previous night and looks forward to the party.[4]
Fate/Grand Order[]
During the Mahoutsukai no Yoru collaboration event set in the year 2001, Kojika does not physically appear but is heavily implied to have married Tobimaru. Tobimaru makes frequent calls to her every night to report to her.
Upon the information being revealed, Tobimaru asks Aoko if she wanted to leave a message to Kumari as she would be happy to hear from her. Aoko replies "I'm doing well. I hope you are too. Also, our CD vs cassette bet ends in a draw, huh".[2]
Development[]
Kojika was not part of the original Mahoutsukai no Yoru paper novel that Kinoko Nasu wrote in the 90s. She was created for the visual novel when he realized that the game had no moe character. She was a character created for the purpose of cuteness itself.[5]

Nasu's comment: Misaki Town's miracle. If she had any friendliness she could have aimed to be the best in the whole world. Her first name Kojika (meaning Golden Deer) was borrowed by her father from the name of Captain Drake's ship as he is a massive sea pirate fanatic. Soujuurou: "So are you a deer or are you a bear?" Kojika: "No, I'm a pelican." An exchange like that might have happened. When she comes home from her part time job at 11 P.M, she turns on the only lamp in the store and organises the messy cash register and makes entries in the account book for that day, such is her daily routine. To be blunt, if Kojika wasn't there that Chinese restaurant would have likely failed in the span of only one month. Because Kumari's mother passed away, Kojika has difficulty looking after her brothers. As such she has the status of a Mother-lite.
Koyama's comment: According to Tsukuri-san, the true heroine. Although her active roles are few. Because in the first place she is a character that didn't initially exist, she was the last one of the students to be designed. I think the last order was for her to be the picture perfect Tsundere without the Dere. She's a good character so I wanted her to be given more active roles. I had a lot of fun playing with the designs of her casual clothes and her Sweets Hearts version.

三咲町の奇跡。愛想があれば天下を狙えた逸材。金鹿という名前は大の海賊マニアな父親がドレイク船長の船から拝借したとかなんとか。草十郎「それで、 君はクマなのかシカなのか、どっちなんだ?」 金鹿「- ペリカンよ」なんてやりとりがあったとかなかったとか。バイトから帰ってきた午後十一時、 店内で一つだけ電灯をつけて、ろくに整理できていないレジスターを整理、その日の会計帳簿をつけるのが日課。ぶっちゃけ、金鹿がいないとあの中 華飯店は一ヶ月で経営破綻するのであった。久万梨家は母親に先立たれている為、金鹿が兄たちの面倒を見ている。まさにミニおかん状態。

つくりさん曰く、真のヒロイン。でも活躍の場は少ない。そもそも当初はいなかったキャラなので、生徒達の中でデザインは最後でした。絵に描 いたようなツンデレキャラのデレなしで、というのが最終オーダーだったかと。良いキャラなのでもっと活躍させたかったですね。私服とスイー ツハーツ ver のデザインでは遊ばせてもらいました。 - Birthday: November 10

Nasu's comment: He is a young man that's pleasant to write about, that one. Stupid, a little sly, stupid, and a bad influence. If you understand those 4 points, you'll get his stupid personality. Later on he would become Makidera Kaede. Even if Aoko was to shoot him with a beam he would say: "What?! You aren't human after all prez?! Oh my God, for real stop shooting me with that beam!" and use his innate special skill to go through it and pretend that he didn't see it. Had this guy witnessed the magecraft battles of Aoko and Alice, "5. Mahoutsukai no Yoru/Misery" would have started. By the way, the Kumari family are his neighbours as they live next to him and to the horror of Kojika, they are actually childhood friends.
Koyama's comment: A disappointing character. His facial features are pretty good so if he were to shut up, he would probably be quite handsome. He is a character that I was relatively free to design so he was quite easy to draw. In that time period, I think that with a haircut like his, the teachers would have kept an eye on him, but at his core he's a pretty good guy (Laughs).

書いていて気持ちの良い男子、そのに。バカ、小狡い、バカ、悪友、の四点を押さえておけばまずブレようのないバカ。後の蒔寺楓である。とな りで青子がビーム撃っても「え、なに会長、やっぱり人間じゃなかった? うはっ、ビーム素で撃つとかマジやめてwwwww」と現実をスルーし て見なかった事にする特殊スキル持ち。こいつが青子と有珠の魔術戦を目撃していたら「5. 魔法使いの夜/惨」が始まっていたでしょう。ちなみ に隣の家は久万梨の家で、恐ろしい事に金鹿とは幼なじみ。

残念なキャラ。目鼻立ちははっきりしてるので黙ってればそれなりにイケメンなのでは。比較的自由にデザインできたので割と描き易いキャラで した。この時代こんな髪だと相当教員から睨まれていたと思いますが、根はいい奴っぽいですよね(笑) - Birthday: August 30
