Langal (ランガル, Rangaru?, also translated as Rohngall) is Clock Tower magus involved in the investigation of the True and False Holy Grail Wars of Snowfield in Fate/strange Fake.
Profile[]
Background[]
At some point in the past, Langal took Faldeus Dioland as his student, unaware that the younger man was a spy for the American organization.
Appearance[]
Langal is an elderly man with short, white hair, a short white beard and rather prominent eyebrows. He wears a dark robe and a rounded beige cap with a silver band around its hem.[1]
Personality[]
Unlike how most magi of long lineages do not find convenience in using modern technology, Langal seems to be one of the few exceptions where he is fascinated with items such as binoculars, noting that in how it saves him the trouble of using a familiar, which causes him to begrudgingly comment in the advances of modern science.[1] He is however still not that familiar with technology, believing social network to be from a field of magecraft and not understanding an email is not a paper letter.[2]
Langal is apparently a very harsh and strict man towards his disciple, Faldeus, especially in regards to important matters such as the Holy Grail. After learning of Faldeus's true nature, Langal did not hesitate to prepare himself to kill his former apprentice.[1]
Role[]
Fate/strange Fake[]
Langal enters Snowfield with Faldeus with the intent of investigating the progress of the False Holy Grail war, however, he is quickly sniped. Faldeus then reveals himself as a spy for the American organization, and shows his associates that the Langal that accompanied him was little more than a puppet. Using Langal's connection to the puppet to his advantage, Faldeus announces that the Grail War is ready to begin, sending the staff at the Clock Tower into an uproar.[1]
Back in London, fearful that Faldeus may have sabotaged his other dolls, Langal transfers his consciousness into a crude makeshift doll for the time being. He takes his other disciple, Christophel Beilman, to go see Lord El-Melloi II to ask for his input about the goal of the Snowfield Holy Grail War's masterminds. When he mistakenly congratulates the Lord on his quick thinking in sending one of his students to the war ahead of time, he is surprised by his strong reaction to the news, culminating in the Lord collapsing from exhaustion.[3]
Abilities[]
As a Magus, Langal seems to be specialized in the use of puppets, creating ones indistinguishable from human to the untrained eye. Such is his dedication it seems that said puppets even possess artificial muscles and can bleed when damaged.[1]
