Magical Workshops (魔術工房, Majutsu Kōbō?) are territories created by magi for the purpose of the practice of magecraft. They can be set structures with the purpose of being developed to suit a magi family's abilities or a temporary space within which to best establish a magus' magecraft.
Referred to in the Aniplex of America translation as an Atelier (French for workshop).
Characteristics[]
A Magical Workshop is something a magus created after years, decades, generations of labour. If a Magic Crest is an artificial organ, then a Magical Workshop is like an artificial world.[1]
Many magi prefer to have their Magical Workshops either underground or at the highest possible point. It is a difference on whether you want to channel the power of the Earth or the power of the Heavens. The particular unique situation of England means that traditionally the power of Earth was strong, to the point even the Clock Tower holds a plethora of underground Magical Workshops.[2]
The technique of using a large area in the wilderness as a Magical Workshop is an old tradition in Europe.[3]
