Mana Ryougi (両儀 未那, Ryōgi Mana?) is the daughter of Shiki Ryougi and Mikiya Kokutou.

Profile[]

Background[]

Mana Ryougi is Shiki and Mikiya's daughter. The one who named Mana was Mikiya. Mikiya himself came up with the name without a second thought, but Shiki knew its meaning. She said with a sour look on her face, "Ah, so that's what it is." and accepted anyways.[1]

Her name origin is from the word “manas” in Buddhism, which roughly mean “mind”, emphasizing as more on the intellect side of the mind but it also includes heart and intention. Maybe it is Mikiya wish for their child to be born with a strong mental consciousness, which gives rise to the perception of self.

When Mitsuru Kamekura was struggling to pay back his debt, Shiki and Mana decided his fate. She's a fan of Mitsuru's book "The Vampire's tears" (吸血鬼の涙, Kyūkeysuki no Namida?) and under her own volition she recruited Mitsuru so that he would work for her father in his detective agency, however it seems that Mitsuru is mainly stuck with being Mana's caretaker.

Appearance[]

Mana has blue eyes and black hair. She is close to 10 years old in Future Gospel.

Personality[]

Mana seems to be greatly amused by things that are out of the ordinary and jumps at the possibility of doing something interesting. She is aware of Kamekura's dark past, however she thinks of him as a nice man who is similar to her papa (in her words, he is plain, can't say no to pretty girls and has a non-working eye). Her wish is to "beat her mom so she can have her papa."

She enjoys reading fairy tales such as the works of Hans Christian Andersen.[2]

Role[]

The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II[]

The Man Who Devoured God[]

In 2007, while her father is standing outside their home and staring at the moon, Mana comes outside to ask him what's wrong. He answers that he got a letter from Touko Aozaki for the first time in a very long while.[3]

The Devil of the Wandering Sea[]

Mana first meets Lord El-Melloi II and his group when they stop by the Ryougi household to meet with her father.[4]

She later encounters them again when everyone gathers at Touko's old agency, where she befriends Akira Yakou. She also befriends Ergo, reading books of children's fairy tales with him and helping him realize that his amnesia means his present is a blank slate that he can use to enjoy it in any way he wants.[2]

Kara no Kyoukai: Future Gospel[]

In 2010 she is interested in having the agency becoming the sponsor of Mother of Mifune, a famous and accurate fortune teller who gave predictions to Shiki and SHIKI long ago.

She told the fortuneteller her father, SHIKI, would like to say thanks.

Abilities[]

Ryougi Mana is a normal human with no special powers or talents.[5]

Q: Does Mana have any special talents? Like her mother's disturbing power and her father's special ability?

Nasu: No special power is the greatest special power ~. Humans who solve problems with Mystic Eyes and special abilities don't deserve praises.

Takeuchi: You don't have the right to say that. (laughs)

Nasu: If an ability can be described in words, then that means it has a limit~.
