Profile[edit | edit source]
Identity[edit | edit source]
The Eternal Lady. The queen of Connacht that appears in Celtic Mythology, the Ulster Cycle. Properly married to Ailill mac Máta, she is a part of a long line of queens ruling the country. A young girl of affairs who built engagements, marriages and, at times, nothing but carnal relations with many kings and brave warriors. The ringleader who caused the greatest war of the Ulster Cycle, she aimed at the life of the brave warrior of Ulster that defied her - Cú Chulainn. It is said that she is endowed with the aspect of discord and conflict, as a Divine Spirit that rules over insanity, evil and royal authority.
Legend[edit | edit source]
After Fergus mac Róich left Ulster due to the king having his two sons killed "out of lust for young women", he defected to Connacht out of hatred for the king. Becoming one of Medb's lovers, his influence in his desire to obtain revenge, Medb's own love of treasure, and the known curse upon Ulster causing all born there to become feeble when invaded caused Medb to start a great war, commanding the soldiers of Connacht while driving her chariot.
Cú Chulainn, not born of Ulster, was the only one able to fight, so he spent his days slaughtering her soldiers until they proposed that the war be held with one-on-one duels. Due to that she was losing five thousand men per day, Medb reluctantly agreed to the terms, only advancing her army during the duels at the cost of only a single soldier per day. Medb ignored the treaty and still advanced, but only in unnoticeably small amounts due to having taken a public vow. Cú Chulainn fought through many hard battles against her, requiring even a group of untrained soldiers to sacrifice themselves to save him as he became more exhausted. Medb eventually schemed to have Cú Chulainn fight his close friend Ferdiad, who reluctantly served his lord even if it meant fighting his closest friend. The end of the battle resulted in Ferdiad's death and Connacht's defeat, followed by further defeat as the warriors of Ulster chased after Medb's retreating army. Cú Chulainn eventually captured her, but he treated her as royalty and returned her to Connacht without killing or shaming her.
At some point during this period, Medb attempted to make Cú Chulainn her own, but he held no interest in her. Waging war against Ulster for a second time with the motive of revenge against Cú Chulainn, she concluded that "Fergus' existence will become a bother", not inviting him to the battlefield, and he was later killed by her jealous husband. She returned after gathering many warriors with grudges against Cú Chulainn, cornering him through the use of various means. He was forced to fight her army by himself, and he died after being entrapped by the various plots of Medb.
Even in modern Ireland, there are many witness reports that say "I saw her". Of course, those are by no means jokes. Even now, Queen Medb lives in the hearts of people as the Eternal Lady.
Rather humorously, while she doesn't mind being called by carnal-related title, she is incredibly offended if someone points out that she has "no luck with men".
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Medb possesses a goddess-like, perfect body since birth.
Personality[edit | edit source]
« I don't hate being antagonized.
A pure maiden who is neat and clean. Simultaneously, an unscrupulous maiden who is a slut. Pure and tidy. Lewd and devious. Both are her true faces, and it's not like either of them are a lie. It is just that the "impression" many people catch is the former. Medb just earnestly, tidily enjoys lewdness, and purely performs deviousness. She loves good men. She really loves strong men! She'll love a man even more if he is one who will not yield to her! For her, it will be worth the torment! Not going against her own desires at all, she made many men her own while alive. The owner of the magic sword Caladbolg, Fergus, was one of her lovers. She also really loves treasures, and for that reason, she triggered a great war with the entirety of Ulster as her opponent and commanded the Connacht troops while driving her own chariot. Cú Chulainn describes her as a "warmongering lady" who hated having to back down.
« The main character of the world’s stage, dominator of all things, that is I — Medb.
Because Medb thinks she is the center of the world, she will come along to a large event even on an occasion where she is not invited. "After all, does it not seem pitiful to not notice these things, even though I spent money for things like these? Nevertheless, do be at peace, for I am coming now! The center of the world, the chosen leading actress, this Queen Medb, the ruler of everything!" Even if it is an action according to a person who craves the limelight, the person herself is uncontrollable when considering and concerning everybody else in the vicinity.
Medb recognizes the Master as a "temporary master". However, she openly perceives the system called "Master and Servant" as some kind of play, and takes into consideration of it not very seriously. She herself relatively enjoys the state of affairs around herself.
Holding a great hatred for the only one who spurred her advances, Cú Chulainn, Medb sought out his death upon his rejection. Although her fixation regarding Cú Chulainn still remains, her wish for the Holy Grail is unrelated to him. That is, "to make all superb men of past/present/future into my lovers." If possible, a brave warrior who is generous, won't get jealous, and knows no fear. If the Master is a brave man who measures up to her, it is probable that Medb will lavishly slap her love onto him with all of her energies, without minding public attention. Sternly, relentlessly, just like the whip she holds.
Relationships[edit | edit source]
- "That the dreamy Ulster hero would fall madly in love with me like this, isn't it proof of my beauty and charm?"
- Male Servants that she likes
- "Everyone wants to be my lover. My favourite type of guy is one who is generous, won't get jealous, and knows no fear."
Role[edit | edit source]
Fate/Grand Order[edit | edit source]
Fifth Singularity: E Pluribus Unum[edit | edit source]
Coming into possession of the Holy Grail, Medb used it to create Cú Chulainn Alter through her wish for Cú Chulainn to rule alongside her as a strong and wicked king. She also used it to summon Fionn mac Cumhaill, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, Beowulf, and Arjuna to serve as her commanders. Leading an army of warriors that she can endlessly produce, Medb and her Servants began to conquer America to create a new Celtic nation; killing everyone who isn’t Celtic. The Americans attempted to repel the Celts, but the Celtic Horde easily overwhelmed them. By the time Chaldea arrives, the Celts have conquered the eastern half of the United States, where Medb killed George Washington and other leaders in the process. She then established the White House in Washington as her palace, changing its appearance into something more sinister.
Medb later learns of Fionn and Diarmuid's failure to destroy the American rear base in Riverton when Fionn reports to her. She leaves the decision what to do with them to Cú Chulainn Alter. He decides to pardon them, but warns they won't get a third chance. Medb is left disappointed by his decision to spare Fionn and Diarmuid after the two left. She then sends Fergus mac Róich out to kill the Servants that Chaldea is planning to meet with. After he leaves, she ponders with Cú Chulainn Alter on how Chaldea and their allies will react. She then recounts how Eastern America has fallen under their control, but she is surprised that Thomas Edison was able to unite Western America against them. Cú Chulainn Alter reprimands her for not destroying the United Western States while they were still weak. Medb admits she didn't think Edison would go so far, feeling he has something besides the Grail backing him. Cú Chulainn Alter finds that alarming, but says he'll kill Edison in time. He then orders Medb to ensure preparations are in order.
Geronimo, Robin Hood, Nero Claudius, and Billy the Kid later ambush Medb during a parade in Washington. Using No Face May King, the group sneaks up on Medb and isolate her in Nero’s Nuptiae Domus Aurea. However, Cú Chulainn Alter suddenly appears when Medb calls for him and attacks Nero. Medb explains Cú Chulainn Alter’s tremendous strength within the theater is because he was created through her wish for him to rule alongside her as a strong and wicked king. She then calls for Arjuna when the group tries to fight Cú Chulainn Alter. While Cú Chulainn Alter fights Nero, Medb and Arjuna fight the others. During the course of the battle, following Robin's escape and Billy's death, Medb tells Geronimo she sent Diarmuid and Fionn, and Beowulf to Alcatraz to kill Ritsuka, Mash, Florence Nightingale, and Rama there. She declares she will destroy Thomas Edison's army with the Grail's power, but to her shock, Geronimo informs her that Ritsuka already recovered four Grails. He also predicts she will die soon, prompting her to kill him in a rage. She then orders Cú Chulainn Alter and Arjuna to pursue Robin.
As the climatic battle between the Americans and Celts begins, Medb tells Cú Chulainn Alter about Fionn and Diarmuid being killed by Ritsuka’s party. He is more interested in what the living are doing when a soldier arrives with a report. He reports the Americans have split their armies into north and south, with the south currently heading towards them. Medb is shocked to hear that there are four Servants, including Karna, are in the south army. She is even more shocked to learn that Edison has allied with Chaldea and their allies. Agreeing with Cú Chulainn Alter’s decision to send out the troops, saying to split them into north and south armies, Medb orders Beowulf and Arjuna to put in charge of the north and south armies, respectively. After the soldier leaves, Cú Chulainn Alter deduces the American south army is the true main force, so Medb figured the north army is meant to buy them time. Cú Chulainn Alter asks Medb if her army is prepared, warning Servants are strongest when accompanying their Master. She admits Beowulf and Arjuna are strong warriors, but they barely have the will to fight. Despite that, Cú Chulainn Alter decides they’ll charge in with full force. After he leaves, Medb suspects he’ll turn on his allies after killing his enemies. She wonders if her true desire was for Cú Chulainn Alter to send the world into chaos, and to kill everyone equally.
Medb confronts Ritsuka’s group whem they arrive in Washington. She summons Shadow Servants and monsters to kill them, but the group slay all of them. She retreats to the White House, hinting that she has something else up her sleeve. There she fights the group with Cú Chulainn Alter. Though mortally wounded by Brahmastra, Medb uses the Grail to summon Clan Calatin to destroy the north army. She then gives the Grail to Cú Chulainn Alter before disappearing.

Abilities[edit | edit source]
Medb has been referred to as the mother of many soldiers, but it is not like she actually gives birth to those soldiers. After taking in the genetic informations of warriors, she reproduces those inside her body. By wounding the tip of her index finger with a blade and having that blood fall on the ground, what was no more than a single drop becomes a great puddle of blood and soldiers are "manufactured" along with the blood foam. Medb is literally the "queen" and ruler of nameless soldiers.
Class Skills[edit | edit source]
- Magic Resistance (B Rank): Nullifies magecraft spells that were done with a chant of three verses or below. One practically does not suffer damage from magecraft even if it was a Great Magecraft or Ritual Spell.
- Riding (A Rank): One can freely handle all vehicles and beasts except for those with a Phantasmal Beast and Divine Beast ranking.
Personal Skills[edit | edit source]
- Golden Rule (Body) (A Rank): One possesses a perfect goddess-like body since birth. No matter how many calories one absorbs, even their figure will not change. Unlike the Natural Body Skill, there is no effect on one’s Strength Parameter. In the end, it is said that it is no more than one’s beauty being preserved.
- Charisma (B Rank): Medb has the charismatic nature to manipulate many brave warriors as a military force.
- Alluring Euphony (C Rank): A natural constitution of having a beautiful voice. It works as a magical charm effect towards males, but evasion is possible with the Magic Resistance Skill. Even if one does not have Magical Resistance, they can abate it to some extent so long as they maintain a will to resist.
Noble Phantasms[edit | edit source]
Medb's Noble Phantasms are a chariot with two bulls, Chariot My Love, her golden liquor honey infused with her legend of charm, My Red Mead, the ability of future vision possessed by Ulster King Conchobar, Conchobar My Love, and the magic sword Caladbolg possessed by Fergus via Fergus My Love.
Forms and Alternate Versions[edit | edit source]
Swimsuit[edit | edit source]
Pure and clean.
The lewd and unscrupulous Queen Medb. A single flower that blooms beautifully at the centre of the world. Or maybe, a large flower attempting to blossom in full glory as if to cover the world. In addition, this time she is an existence akin to a bikini model――― someone highly self-conscious as a flower that charms people.
Exactly because she accurately understands how much value and power her body possesses, one could say that it was only a matter of time before she was installed as a gorgeous Celebrity Servant adapted to modern times.
Abilities[edit | edit source]
- Magic Resistance (B+ Rank): Nullifies all magecraft with less than 3 incantations. Receives almost no damage even from rituals and greater magecraft. After changing her Saint Graph to Saber, it seems some of her skills have also been upgraded.
- If I Change into a Swimsuit (A+ Rank): Her ability to enchant the masses or specific people. At A+ its power is tremendous. (Usually this would be a composite skill that includes Golden Rule (Body), but in FGO its effect is a bit different)
- Eau De Toilette - White Honey (B Rank): Medb's voice and breath are endowed with a honey-like sweetness, which allows her to influence the target's stats just by existing. In the case of animals or humans without protection against magical power, she should be perfectly capable of bending them to her will. For example, it'd be easy for her to turn a small boy into a brave warrior comparable with a veteran. Conversely, she could also take a hardened warrior and turn them into a child. She can even freely mess with a Servant's stats if they don't have the means to resist. A skill similar but different to "Alcoholic Fruit ". When using this skill, she applies perfume to herself, so if one were to interrupt her, the skill could maybe be interrupted...But one must wonder how many people are out there who can actually stop Medb.
- Queen's Discipline (Sea) (A Rank): Medb's Charisma as a queen has now reached the level of violence.

Also known as Spiral Rainbow Sword. Or just Spiral Sword.
An Anti-Army Noble Phantasm that boasts high-power and wide-range, which makes even landscape destruction possible. Its sword-shimmer when brandished "cut off three hills" - such fearsome power has been denoted in legends.
Level 3 Bond
In legends, it cut a hill by means of "a sword-shimmer that extended like rainbow", but when wielded as a Noble Phantasm, Caladbolg's aspects as a landscape destruction weapon becomes pronounced. Namely, a no-questions-asked great attack that breaks the earth.
It has been said that, in later ages, it became the model for the magic swords・holy swords that many heroes obtained. Also, the model of Excalibur Galatine.
The "kougei (虹霓)"*** in its name means "rainbow".
Level 4 Bond
A man who established a corner of the Knights of the Red Branch, but he left the knight order out of rage from the betrayal of Conchobar, king of Ulster. At the outbreak of the greatest war in Ulster legends, he stayed beside his lover Medb, queen of Connacht, and displayed his valour.
He was kept from revealing his true prowess due the fact Cú Chulainn was in Ulster, but still reached the point where he was one step away from slaying King Conchobar.
Level 5 Bond
Due the pledge (geis) exchanged with Cú Chulainn at this occasion, he will achieve victory almost unconditionally in case there is a rematch with him.
At the time of the second invasion of Ulster, Queen Medb - who was scheming her revenge against Cú Chulainn - concluded that "Fergus existence will become a bother" and did not invite him to the battlefield. Afterwards, he was assassinated by a jealousy-driven King Ailill, Medb's husband.
His wish for the Holy Grail is to "once again "get along" together with my wife and Medb".
Get along. Together.**
By the way, his wife is a goddess of the forest-- a Divine Spirit. There are not that many humans who can compare to his peerlessness!
*by the way, the original term can also be translated as "endless sexual stamina"
**this is actually a pun, as it can also be understood that he wants a three-way with the two of them.
