Miss CraneWP (ミス・クレーン?), Class Name Caster (キャスター, Kyasutā?), was a Caster-class Servant summoned by an unknown Master, before eventually being contracted by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Identity[]
Miss Crane, actual True Name Tsurume-no-Kimi (鶴女の君?), is a figure whose core is formed from the crane featured in Tsuru no OngaeshiWP (鶴の恩返し, Crane's Return of a Favor?) of Japanese folklore. The story follows the common motif of the "grateful animal," specifically the trope of "wildlife helped by a human will bring about a suitable fortune to repay the favor." It is the most famous such story in Japan, telling of a crane who took the form of a human and worked with great devotion towards her benefactor. Going so far as to pluck her own feathers as materials to weave her fabric, she, upon being viewed while working, returned to to the form of a crane and left her benefactor.[1]
Miss Crane as a Servant shares all the traits of the folk tale, but the one difference is that she tailors outfits to completion rather than simply weaving fabric. It is a trait exclusive to her current manifestation as a Servant.[1]
Appearance[]
Personality[]
Courteous, kind, and hard-working. And above all else, a woman with a self-destructive sense of duty. That's the kind of character she is. She gets deeply impressed by even the most trivial of favors and does everything in her power to reward them. Actually, she can't live without repaying favors.
The greatest form of repayment she can offer is making clothes. She does every step, from spinning the yarn to tailoring the clothes, all by herself, and her skill level can be considered on par with the gods.
Her favorite thing is idols. When there's a concert on the East, she will join it in high spirits, and when there's a meet-and-greet in the West, she'll run there carrying a present. If any of her faves wears one of her pieces, her gratitude and fangirlism will spike, with a high risk of her being immediately being forced back to the Throne from the shock. Be careful!
One more thing about her: she's impressively bad at cleaning up her room. She keeps all places other people enter neatly organized, but her personal bedroom, storage rooms, etc are complete disasters. The used clothes, design notes, fashion magazines from all countries, and empty bottles of high-class sake (she's quite the heavy drinker) all over the floor create an atmosphere akin to the bursting nest of a bird... Promise one thing: you mustn't see that junkyard of a room.[1]
Relationships[]
- Beni-enma
- "I once stayed in the Sparrow's Inn. I will never forget the hospitality I received from that lovely proprietress. One of these days, we should all stay at that inn to heal our wounds and recover from our fatigue!"[3]
- Georgios
- "Georgios has been helping me out tremendously. Whenever I ask him to be the photographer, he manages to draw out the idols' latent charm. I suppose celebrated saints have the ability to recognize one's true nature even through the viewfinder."[3]
- Heracles
- "A man who has a splendid muscular body...Heracles. I see that his upper body is often naked, so I take it he prefers not to wear flashy clothes?"[3]
- Marie Antoinette
- "(Sigh) The sense of happiness knowing that the French Queen is going to help me fund my own atelier...I love her...and she's totally cute...I'm sorry, I'll be over there melting from happiness alone for a while. I'm going to turn to mush."[3]
- Katsushika Hokusai
- "Hokusai and I often advise, give suggestions, and argue about the concept of beauty. And I've told her I cannot model for her, yet she still sends me such beautiful paintings...So sneaky..."[3]
- Astolfo
- "Ooohhh! It's that cutie Astolfo! So smooth! So fluffy! The moment he gave me that French smile of his was enough to knock me down from love! Ah, I need to hurry and finish up the next outfit for the cosplay event."[3]
- Chevalier d'Eon
- "Aaahhh! D'Eonny! D'Eonny! Fffhhh! They're unbelievably dangerous! ...And thus, their dignified French loveliness that would leave anyone speechless caused my amore restraints to fall apart in a heartbeat. (Sigh) So good..."[3]
- Mysterious Heroine X Alter
- "Ex has not changed at all. Actually, she has increased in radiance as an idol these days. I am very proud of her. One day, I'll have her sing a song for me again. And of course, I'll offer some of her favorite Japanese sweets!"[3]
- "I like her." (Immediate answer) "Dear Ex. My idol. My best friend, and and...oh, I'm at a loss for words. Oh, hmmm, here it comes, an idea for a new outfit I want to dedicate to her! I'll get it done in no time!"[2]
- Yang Guifei
- "I have unbelievable news. The queen of China...Yang Guifei, has asked me to make a dress for her! But behind her graceful countenance, she's sending me this intense "I won't be satisfied with half-assed workmanship" vibe... But she smells really nice...ah...really! Hnng, I'll try my best!"[3]
- Hans Christian Andersen / William Shakespeare
- "Greatness can come from one overcoming a hurdle called deadlines...that was something I've been taught. Honestly, I was surprised to hear such a statement. But then again, if it's the words of a great writer who left their mark on history...perhaps there is some truth behind those words. Perhaps I may need to try it out someday."[3]
- Habetrot
- "My sunshine. Spinning together, weaving together, carrying the needle together. What would we call it if we didn't call it happiness? You, lovely one, who gave me such wonderful warmth. I hope one day to be able to give you a beautiful outfit."[2]
- Medb
- "A valued customer. Retakes, specification changes, additional orders, you name it, she's done it. Unreasonable demands are proof of her trust in a tailor after all. I am very happy to do anything for her. And she's so, so, so cute! She is so cute And the clothes look good on her She seriously looks good She's like an idol queen, isn't she?"[2]
- Tamamo Cat
- "A strange friend. She comes on a whim and tidies up my room, which tends to be a bit messy, with her brilliant handiwork. I can't stop thinking about her. When I offered her a carrot as a thank you, she left headbanging while saying 'Onore Red Hare!' "[2]
- Okada Izou
- "Okada's orders were short and crisp, which was helpful. When the clothes were finished, he was so happy and he smiled so adorably. By the way what about the bill? That reminds me the other day Mr. Sakamoto came and picked up the clothes."[2]
- Medea
- Someone to give advice on magecraft. Also friends who share ideas for new clothes over tea. "Come to think of it that golden fleece is so soft. Just trying to remember it makes me.......Ah."[2]
- Hassan of the Hundred Faces
- "Ah I see... A Spiritron Dress usable by all the Hassans materializing through Delusional Illusion. Yes, yes, I can do it! It's the ultimate goal of a tailor. Now come at me!"[2]
- Romani Archaman
- "I must apologize to you. The truth we pursued together: 'What is an idol?' This philosophical question still has no definitive answer. After all, there are too many incredibly dazzling idols. They're all different! They're all charming! There is no single 'correct' answer! Ah, of course, I know very well that you are a devoted fan of the super strong, fiery, and Magi☆Mari-chan. We'll surely continue this conversation someday."[2]
Role[]
At a point when she was near death and out of magical energy, she met a kind, if disheveled, man with a beautiful face, who took her into his care despite appearing to work feverishly towards "something". She was brought to Chaldea and the man let her live in the Lostroom, which was said to be unused and no one went near. Grateful for the chance to rest her wings, she told her new benefactor that she would do anything to make his wish come true in return for his kindness, only to note that he gave her a troubled smile in response.
She was devastated to learn of the erasure of his existence, even from the Throne of Heroes, following the battle at the Time Temple. Vowing that she and all in Chaldea would never forget him, she set into motion the events of Fate/Grand Order Waltz in the MOONLIGHT/LOSTROOM.
Fate/Grand Order Waltz in the MOONLIGHT/LOSTROOM[]
Miss Crane, a Stray Servant posing as an AI, sets the events of Fate/Grand Order Waltz in the MOONLIGHT/LOSTROOM in motion for the purpose of showing an image of Mash Kyrielight and Ritsuka Fujimaru dancing to Romani Archaman in the past. [4]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Event: Sparrow's Inn Daily Report[]
Beni-enma mentions that Miss Crane used to work at the inn in the Crane Room under the alias Oyu (お夕?). She worked as a weaver, "checking out" of the inn and leaving all of her belongings after she claimed "the moonlight was calling her." Beni-enma speculates her sparrows might have spied on her while she worked.[5]
Event: Grail Live[]
Other appearances[]
In Fate/EXTRA, Tamamo-no-Mae mentions Miss Crane's legend in a My Room conversation during the second week.
Abilities[]
She can rain down her feathers as bladed projectiles and uses her staff as a weapon.[2]
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Territory Creation (Atelier) (C+ Rank): Specialized for fashion-related effects. The cloths and attires produced in her territory are of better quality, and provide all sorts of additional effects. The territory's interior is not visible from the outside, but its effect as a barrier against external attacks is very weak.[1]
- Item Construction (Robes) (A Rank): Can produce high quality cloths and attires tinged with magical energy.[1]
Personal Skills[]
- A Lady's Invested Affection (EX Rank): The proof of a heart filled to the brim with love for all clothes. Even the most heartless of robes burst with the joy of life after coming into contact with her love.[1]
- One Night Coat (B Rank): To instantly deploy an Atelier Field and work single-mindedly. But the passion to produce the finest arts burns away her own life.[1]
- A Thousand Years' Gratitude (A Rank): To never forget her gratitude for a favor done for her. A thousand years after the fact, her feelings exist here as they were at that very day, never forgotten, never twisted. Now is the time to repay this debt.[1]
- The Crane's Hidden Measuring (A Rank): The ability to instantly take the measurements of anyone she lays eyes on even over their clothes and immediately calculate all the correct values in relation to their body shape. This is important personal information and will NOT be disclosed. The dimensions and weight of fabric can also be identified at a glance. Since it's a skill used for tailoring in peacetime. It is not used in "Fate/Grand Order".[2]
Noble Phantasm[]
Her Noble Phantasm is Flawless Masterpiece - The Crane's Fate, A Teary Farewell.[1][2]
Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Miss Crane was designed by Shaka P (DELiGHTWORKS) in Fate/Grand Order.[2] Her scenario writer is Tanaka Ten in Fate/Grand Order.[2]
Comments from Illustrator[]
"In the initial draft, she looked younger than she does now, but I wanted her to look more mature so I raised her head slightly in the clean-up phase. A large witch hat was essential for the second ascension and it was difficult to balance with the staff when creating the battle sprites. The third ascension is an orthodox Japanese-style beauty, with no adornment herself but with the haori as the main part of her design." (Shaka P)[2]
