Mr. Shirou (士郎さん?) is a black market art dealer who frequently does business with Shiki Ryougi. He visits Kumano Hot Springs located in the Kumano Mountains in Japan in May 1999, which was moved to May 2001 by Aoko Aozaki.[1]
Profile[]
Background[]
A version of Shirou Emiya originating from a different world than that of Fate/stay night. He was born in a different era and grew to old age after having gone on an adventure similar to that of the Fifth Holy Grail War. As a result of having not experienced the Great Fire of Fuyuki, his original surname remains unchanged and unrevealed.[2]
He is, in truth, a black market art dealer who is business partners with Shiki Ryougi, who is a yearly high-value buyer. Whenever he comes across something that can't make it to the regular white market, Shiki is the first customer he calls. At the Kumano Hot Springs, the item he collected and planned to sell then was a rare Kasaneda-forged katana, which Shiki desired as her current antique katana was about to break from overuse.[3] He also does maintenance on some of the pieces he collects and sells.[4]
Appearance[]
Personality[]
Mr. Shirou considers himself an old-timer that should probably retire. When confused for Senji Muramasa by Mash Kyrielight, he appreciates the compliment but states himself to be "a tad humble" than that. He happily states he will come back to collect Mash's and Ritsuka Fujimaru's bones,[5] presumably if they fail. Despite not being Muramasa and being humbler than him, he does believe in the same principles of sword quality as Muramasa, that a katana's quality is defined by its ability to cut the cycle of revenge, the chain of hatred, and intertwined threads of karma. Under those standards, he believes the antique katana wielded by Shiki to be "divine".[3]
He doesn't believe that a person can murder another just because they felt like it, and that the act requires strong emotion, be it from money or a grudge. Though he notes that in a battlefield, the field carries the emotional burden.[4]
Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Abilities[]
Mr. Shirou owns a couple of smithies, but now he is just an art dealer. He reveals that although he is aware of and utilises his own methods to banish Spirits, he isn't a genuine Exorcist by trade and openly calls himself a fraud.[5]
Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Mr. Shirou was designed by Takashi Takeuchi in Fate/Grand Order.
