Neco-Arc
Tsukihime (2021)

« Cat of humanity, manifests! »

(Neco-Arc, Melty Blood: Type Lumina)

Neco-Arc (ネコアルク, Neko-Aruku?) is a Neco Spirit appearing in the Tsukihime Remake series. She is a pint-size cat girl parody of Arcueid Brunestud.

Profile

Background

No longer the ancient relic known as Neco-Arc, that model was so last decade. She has been awoken to the new power known as "Re:make". You may address her as Lumi-Arc, the Shining Cat.[3]

Even she is unaware of her origin and true nature.[2]

Appearance

Personality

Compared to the original Neco-Arc, her morals have been updated from the Jurassic period to the Permian.[3] She often speaks in non-sensical, sometimes disturbing references and meta jokes. Like her original counterpart, she enjoys tormenting Miyako Arima. However, she is not used to dealing with someone who's pure-hearted yet serious, like Mash Kyrielight.

Role

Tsukihime

Neco-Arc accompanies Miss Ciel during the "Teach Me, Miss Ciel!" segments after the player reaches a bad end.

MBTL Neco-Arc ending

Neco-Arc's ending.

Neco-Arc accompanies Miyako in the story of the boss rush mode. She creates a what-if scenario where Miyako is the protagonist of Tsukihime, the "Miyako Route".

She also secretly creates a what-if scenario where Noel is the protagonist of Tsukihime, the "Noel Route", similar to "Ciel Route", but has her tragic fate that led her into a Dead Apostle being retconned where "A mysterious boy in a school uniform with a knife" saved her from Vlov Arkhangel's vampire bite on time.

In her own story mode, Neco-Arc teams up with Mash Kyrielight, who she somehow dragged along from her own world.

After working with Mash, Neco-Arc decides she wants more Servants, so summons Ushiwakamaru and Edmond Dantès in their respective story modes.

Neco-Arc is also revealed to be responsible for summoning Saber version of Artoria Pendragon, as well as being the main antagonist of the first two seasons which depicts four Boss Rush storyline involving a crossover where characters from the Tsukihime and Fate timelines fighting against each other.

Finally, she split Shiki into 17 crystal statues, each corresponding to a parallel version of him who fell in love with a different heroine, and arranged for the heroines to fight each other over the statues. As Miyako threatens to foil her plan, Neco-Arc summons the original Miyako Arima to fight her. Miyako defeats original Miyako, only to fall asleep because it was ten o' clock at night. Neco-Arc plans to sell the crystal statues for money. However, Shiki recombines himself into one through sheer willpower and cuts Neco-Arc into 108 pieces, banishing her back to Great Cat's Village.

Following her banishment, Neco-Arc remarks that even she needs time to regenerate from such an attack. However, a shadowy figure, apparently her superior, silently condemns her for her failure and strikes her down.

Fate/Grand Order

Neco-Arc appears in Ciel's Second Ascension animations.

Abilities

The old Neco-Arc having a 0:10 battle ratio compared to other characters was just too unorthodox. Now, her specs have been updated to have a 5:5 ratio when up against the same character (in other words, nothing has changed). Also, her catchphrase when firing her eye beams has been updated to reflect modern naming conventions.[3]

By jumping left and right rapidly, she can activate a version of Luminous Body called Neco Luminous Body Phenomenon (ネコ光体化現象?).

In battle, she can summon various copies of herself through numerous apps on her smartphone, the Neco Packet 2022 (ネコパケット・2022?). Using the Fate/Grand Order app, she can summon Black Keys, mapo tofu, curry rice, and Artoria Pendragon. In addition, she can also summon Eco-Arc.

According to Ushiwakamaru, she can regrow her head even after being decapitated. Also, even after being split into 108 pieces by the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, she simply reappears in Great Cat's Village, apparently unharmed (though she remarks that she needed time to regenerate after being subjected to such an attack).

Development

Comment from illustrator

Takashi Takeuchi states that Neco-Arc's design changed a lot to match the changes in Arc, but its bratty childhood friend attitude really makes you feel like it has been like that.[1]

    シエル先生の相棒。謎のイキモノ。
    今作のアルク合わせで結構デザイン変わっているんですが、昔からこうでしたみたいな、なんとも小憎らしい馴染み方をしてくれました。(武内崇)
