Ogasawara Kaya (小笠原カヤ?) is the adopted daughter of Miyamoto Musashi and step-sister of Miyamoto Iori. She is the vessel for Caster-class Pseudo-Servant Ototachibana-hime (オトタチバナヒメ?) in the Waxing Moon Ritual of Fate/Samurai Remnant.
Profile[]
Background[]
Ogasawara Kaya[]
Kaya is the adopted daughter of Miyamoto Musashi. After Musashi died, Kaya was adopted by the Ogasawara clanWP. She often visits Iori in Asakusa to care for him because she is worried about him.[3]
Ototachibana-hime[]
Ototachibana-hime is the wife of Yamato Takeru. She joined Takeru on their military campaign in eastern Japan, and broke through their self-imposed solitude with her boundless love. But in order to appease the rage of a sea god as they crossed Hashirimizu, Ototachibana-hime threw herself into the ocean, leaving Takeru a prisoner of their own misery.[4]
Ototachibana-hime is the fifteenth Servant in the Waxing Moon Ritual. Due to the unusual manner of her summoning, she manifests by possessing Kaya instead of with a body of her own. Kaya is unaware of Ototachibana-hime's presence.[4] Takeru and Ototachibana-hime both know that them being summoned together is a miracle that will never happen again. But because their relationship was concluded when they were alive, that may be the reason that during this summoning they chose to silently watch each other from behind.[1]
The "oto" in her name used to mean "younger person" in ancient Japanese, but in modern Japanese it means "younger brother", so she usually calls herself Tachibana-hime. Because she is possessing a living human, she can be considered an incarnated Servant.[1]
Appearance[]
Personality[]
As Kaya, she is a cheerful, intrusive, and adorable little sister who loves her older brother. As Ototachibana-hime, she is a girl single-mindedly devoted to her beloved Takeru.[1]
Role[]
Fate/Samurai Remnant[]
Saber assumes that Ototachibana-hime was the result of a Chain Summoning after they were summoned by Miyamoto Iori.
Iori returns to his house in Asakusa after the battle against the Great Orochi. There before fleeing, Assassin poisoned Iori in the left arm. Kaya is quickly to notice that something is strange with him and tells him to rest. As Iori rests, Ototachibana-hime in Kaya's body heals his wound, leaving Saber to be surprised by her presence.
Later, she is kidnapped by Chiemon and Lancer, as the fifteenth Servant is needed as a sacrifice to activate the Waxing Moon. After being rescued by Iori and Saber, she doesn't have any memories of it and promises to not get in trouble anymore.
Kaya befriends Tamamo Aria during the latter's visits to Iori's house.
Later, Kaya goes shopping in Asakusa and is trailed by Saber, who she keeps avoiding. Saber eventually catches up to her and accuses her of being Ototachibana-hime, which she confirms. After a discussion regarding how she died and loves Takeru, Ototachibana-hime falls asleep and Kaya takes back over her body, unaware of what happened. Saber does not tell Iori about Kaya's situation.
Saber decides to make Kaya a gift as thanks for everything she's done to help. As Saber and Iori are gathering materials to make it they stop at Hashirimizu and Saber reveals to Iori that long ago they lost someone to the sea there. When Saber gives Kaya the gift, a handmade comb, Kaya asks Iori to wait outside while Saber brushes her hair. Once Iori leaves Ototachibana-hime takes over and recognizes that the comb is an exact replica of one that Takeru had given her long ago, which Takeru found washed up on the shore after her sacrifice. Takeru had always wanted to return it to her. Embracing each other, Saber apologizes for not doing more to protect her back then, and Ototachibana-hime says that she sacrificed herself of her own volition to help Takeru's path forward. Even so, Saber vows to protect her this time.
In the Flames of Resentment route, Chiemon and Lancer kidnap Kaya again and succeed in sacrificing her to activate the Waxing Moon. Saber informs Iori that Ototachibana is protecting Kaya and she still lives inside the Waxing Moon Monster. After Saber destroys the Waxing Moon and the Servants disappear, Iori returns home with the unconscious but unharmed Kaya.
In the A Ray of Light route, Kaya stays behind at Iori's house for the final battle and promises to make him food for when he returns.
In the Entreat the Darkness route, Kaya finds Iori's corpse at Senso-ji after Saber kills him to stop his wish for the Waxing Moon.
Keian Command Championship[]
She is invited by the boss into the arena and fully supports Iori and Saber alongside Crimson Codex and Aria.
Abilities[]
Kaya is a normal human with no special abilities.
Ototachibana-hime has no direct combat abilities as a Servant, with everything focused on support instead. It's hard to imagine her ever winning a Holy Grail War.[1] Ototachibana-hime was able to heal the poison afflicting Iori when he was bitten by one of Koga Saburo's Phantom Snakes.
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Territory Creation (EX Rank): Holding a unique position, she creates a special area for her brother and Yamato Takeru.
- Independent Action (EX Rank): A Rogue Servant with a unique position in the Ritual, she can act continuously without a Master.
Noble Phantasm[]
Ototachibana-hime's profile in Fate/Samurai Remnant does not list a Noble Phantasm for her, marking the section only with "—".[4] This is different from characters with hidden Noble Phantasms, which are marked with "???" instead.
Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Kaya and Ototachibana-hime were designed by Rei Wataru in Fate/Samurai Remnant. Their scenario writer is Yuuichirou Higashide.[1]
