PoseidonWP (ΠOΣEIΔΩN) (ポセイドン, Poseidon?) one of the Twelve Machine Gods appearing in the Atlantic Lostbelt in Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Background[]
Formally, the Planetary Environment Modification Plant-Ship Poseidon (惑星環境改造用プラント船ポセイドン, Wakusei Kankyō Kaizō-Yō Puranto-sen Poseidon?), he was in charge of the modification and control of the oceanic environments. Within the world of the Lostbelt, there was a shift from the Proper Human History in 12,000 BC that ultimately led to the Age of Gods continuing into the modern day. Having survived the Olympiamachia, Zeus overwrote his cores as punishment, forcing him to serve as one of the Atlantis' three defense layers, being the gatekeeper of the Big Hole that leads to Olympus.[2][3]
Personality[]
According to Chiron, he had the capacity for rational thought until Drake took one of his Cores, resulting in collapse of his rationality, rendering him berserk to the point he can only recognize the enemy forces as Francis Drake.[2]
Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Before Chaldea's arrival, Poseidon had one of his divine cores stolen by Drake, disabling the barrier that protected his Aletheia. In exchange, he casted a curse upon her, in which once she reaches the land, she will not be able to return to the sea, otherwise she would have her Saint Graph disintegrated as soon she tries to.[4][5]
Götterdämmerung: Eternal Ice-Flame Century[]
According to Ophelia, in Kirschtaria Wodime's Lostbelt, Poseidon is gone and in his absence, various Heroic Spirits have arisen on the sea.[6]
Atlantis: Ocean in the Age of Titans[]
Poseidon attacks the Storm Border as it descends the Big Hole.[7] The Borders fires torpedoes at him, only for them to be blocked his magical barrier powered by his three remaining divine cores. However, Chaldea enter his interior through the rear, which isn't protected by the barrier. As Ritsuka Fujimaru, Mash Kyrielight, and Jason fight his cores, Poseidon designates Mash as Francis Drake in his madness, saying to kill her without leaving even a corpse. After his last core is destroyed, Poseidon voices his contempt for Chaldea, humanity, and the Proper History. He curses Drake and humanity as he sinks down, leaving everything to Zeus. His corpse is then destroyed by the Border's torpedoes.[2]
Abilities[]
Poseidon's parts match those used in Artemis by 63.8 %. He is a factory ship designed to renovate planetary environments. His primary objective was the renovation and oversight of marine environments. However, he was downgraded to nothing more than the Atlantic Lostbelt's Great Pit's guard. He had some semblance of sanity remaining right up until Francis Drake took one of his Divine Cores.[2] After receiving damage in his head unit, Poseidon was no longer capable of logical thought. He became a simple defensive system that attacks anything invading his territory. His memories, records, emotions, feelings were all erased and destroyed.[8]
Combat[]
Hephaestus states that evading Poseidon to infiltrate Olympus is impossible and that conflict is inevitable.[8] Poseidon can create an incredibly powerful gravitational force able to pull the Storm Border towards the Great Pit.[7] He moves in the ocean at one hundred knots. Captain Nemo was able to dodge his charge by making an emergency dive right before the two vessels, the Nautilus and Poseidon, impacted, evading him with just a meter to spare.[2]
Poseidon's body is shrouded with a ridiculous strong Magical Energy barrier, powered by his four Divine Cores. Each of these sources of energy has a density of magical energy on par with a Holy Grail. Due to Francis Drake stealing one of them by some unknown means, there was a noticeable hole in his defensive barrier toward his aft quarter throughout the events of the Atlantic Lostbelt. However, Captain Nemo says that even if the Storm Border fired every single torpedo through that hole it would only destroy his back.[2] Poseidon's three weak points are his Divine Cores.[8][2] Like with Artemis, Poseidon is a Machine God that can only be killed if his cores are completely destroyed. Goredolf Musik was able to infiltrate his body through said hole with the Shadow Border, allowing Mash Kyrielight to target them directly.[2] The Saint Graph Designation of the three cores is; Lancer (Head), Caster (Under), and Assassin (Center).
When Francis Drake stole one of Poseidon's cores, he Cursed her to die if she ever sets out to the sea. Although she looked fine on the outside, her Saint Graph was extremely injured, preventing her from making "the impossible possible" any longer.[4] After Francis Drake made off with one of his cores, he scrambled to put together a defensive system in place in the event that his interior was breached again in the future. They were clearly designed quite hasty, if not quite sloppily, and their aim was all over the place. Although the final core was protected by Chiron, Mash Kyrielight successfully destroyed all three remaining cores.[2]
Captain Nemo states that while the Nautilus might not be as strong as Poseidon, with the Nautilus, the Shadow Border, and Hephaestus's power all helping them out, they can give him a run for his money. This is the same Storm Border that was able to fight a fierce and daring battle against multiple Zeus terminals trying to keep them away from the Olympus shrine.[9]
