RagnarökWP: Twilight of the Gods (神々の黄昏?), translated as GötterdämmerungWP (ゲッテルデメルング?) in German, is an event that took place in Norway that led to the end of the Age of Gods in Scandinavia.
History[]
Ragnarök is the cataclysmic conflict that brought the end of the Age of Gods in the Scandinavia region, bringing about an end to the reality itself and causing the very Texture of the World at the time to disappear. It was the end of the myths and legends of all the Gods, Giants, and Phantasmal Species living in the region, killing all of them. With the disappearance of Mystery, the Age of Humanity in the region began, leading to the rapid advancement of civilization.[1]
Loki, known for causing mischief, brought about many disasters, eventually culminating in the invasion of MuspelheimWP's Muspel (Fire Giants) in 1000 BC. It is said Mt. KatlaWP erupted at this time, triggering Ragnarök, but the eruption itself was actually the invasion of the Muspel.[1]
Within modern day history, there is no existing record of Mt. Katla erupting before 930 AD due to a lack of records. It is thought by the Department of Archaeology of the Clock Tower that the lack of historical records is due to the disappearance of the Scandinavian Texture, leaving only small amounts of details left recorded from that time. This has left Magi unable to have a full understanding of the happenings during the Age of Gods in that region.[1]
The Noble Phantasm Mjölnir Ragnarök possessed by Magni allows for the conditions of Ragnarök to be reenacted, applying the conditions of the Age of Gods to the surrounding area.
Broken Ragnarök[]
- Main article: Norse Lostbelt
Within the world of the Norse Lostbelt of Fate/Grand Order, history diverged from that of the Proper Human History in 1000BC, leading to a Broken Ragnarök (狂えるラグナロク?) as described by Scáthach-Skadi.
Surtr decided to end the entire world rather than just the Age of Gods. He ate Fenrir and gained his Authority over ice, becoming a world ending calamity. He killed the remaining Gods before Odin sealed him away in a false sun.
