Ragnar LodbrokWP (ラグナル・ロズブローク, Ragunaru Rozuburōku?), Class Name Berserker (バーサーカー, Bāsākā?), is a Berserker-class Servant summoned alongside Archer Aslaug as the two Servants of Lemina Eltfromm Yggdmillennia in the Doubles Subcategory Holy Grail War of Fate:Lost Einherjar.
Profile[]
Identity[]
The last EinherjarWP. A young warrior of the VikingsWP, the bold men who claim to serve the disappeared Norse gods and to be braves deserving of guidance to Valhalla. He had a fateful encounter with Aslaug.[4] He fell in love with her at first sight, and as a result of his proposal to her, he now faces trials from Odin.[5]
Ragnar had two wives before Aslaug. The first, Thora Borgarhjört, died of illness. The second, Lagertha, left him to become a warrior herself. Ragnar was not the chieftain of his village, but as the leader of their raids, the chieftain named him the village representative and allowed him to live in the longhouse.[6] Prior to meeting Aslaug, he fought and killed a monstrous man-eating serpent.[7]
Ragnar heard from his friend Bragi of Aslaug as a ridiculously cherished princess and decided to test her. He had his poet send for her, but imposed a challenge in doing so: She was to come neither dressed nor undressed, neither fasting nor eating, and neither alone nor in company. Upon hearing the first condition, dressed but undressed, Aslaug became incredibly angry and decided to kill Ragnar. In response to his challenge Aslaug arrived dressed in clothing made from fish nets, chewing on an onion, and with only her wolf companion. Angry and embarrassed Aslaug attempted to kill Ragnar, but stayed her hand when Ragnar hastily apologized, admitting it was a test and by her conquering it he could now see how beautiful, smart, and courageous she was. After Aslaug calmed down, Ragnar proposed.[2]
Appearance[]
Ragnar is a big, bulky man with iron coloured hair and ice blue eyes. In his civilian form, he wears a leather jacket and pants. He's at 210cm tall.[2]
Personality[]
Legend tells he was a Viking king, but he doesn't remember or recognize himself as a king.[4]
Ragnar is a smoker and likes Norwegian heavy metal music, which he listens to on his iPod Nano. He has a habit of calling Lemina "boss" instead of "Master", which she corrects.[2] He also refers to Aslaug as "Princess".[8] He's lacking in 21st-century knowledge.[9]
He doesn't have the best memories associated with snakes. And his wives are another thing that scare him.[5]
As Ragnar comes from the Age of Man, not the Age of Gods, he doesn't put much stock in Mystery and isn't much of a religious person. He believes that Odin exists and deserves reverence, but he thinks that gods and legends are more like guides about how to live your life than anything. He doesn't concern himself with mystical things as they aren't around in the 9th century anyway. Before he met Aslaug he didn't even know what magical energy was.[7]
Ragnar knows the stories of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. In life, his dream was to go on a Viking raid in Britain and go down in history for it.[7]
Despite his relaxed behavior, Ragnar is still a Viking, a warrior from a violent time. He will not hesitate to use whatever weapon is available to kill his foe, such as abusing Sinfjötli's soft spot for his niece Aslaug to have her deal the killing blow, as Ragnar knew he would never hurt her.[3]
Role[]
Fate:Lost Einherjar[]
9th Century[]
After his proposal, Ragnar apologizes for the riddle, soothing Aslaug's anger. She comes back down and magically changes back to her fishnet dress, which embarrasses the both of them. Before Aslaug can respond, her stomach growls and Ragnar takes her back to his camp, where he provides her with breakfast and formally introduces her to Bragi. As the two men debate their opposing views on the existence of gods, lightning suddenly strikes. A mysterious voice booms in everyone's heads, announcing that, for having declared his intent to marry Aslaug, Ragnar will be given three trials by Odin to see if he is worthy of marrying Odin's descendant.[7]
Lightning strikes again, this time hitting a tree, which is revealed to actually be a troll in slumber, who attacks the group. Ragnar charges the troll and quickly beheads it with his axe, but the troll's regeneration allows it to quickly heal and regrow its head. Aslaug tries to kill it as well by piercing its heart with magically infused arrows, to no avail, forcing the trio to run.[7]
21st Century[]
Ragnar first appears in a bookstore reading through various magazines, while searching for other Servants. After he leaves the bookstore, he is attacked by a shadowy humanoid apparition. Defeating it, Ragnar reports to Lemina about it and goes searching for Aslaug. Sensing her, he finds her on the roof of Akershus Fortress, but she doesn't recognize him.[2]
Abilities[]
Ragnar's weapon is an axe, which he carries around in a guitar case.[2]
A do-it-yourself gorilla who can craft functional improvised weapons from any object he finds in the battlefield, and likewise, his decisions are always adapted to the situation at hand.[5]

It can only be activated a limited number of times, but it can even protect him from an attack as powerful as Longinus Count Zero.[3]
Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Ragnar is designed by Shirow Miwa. Miwa had previously worked for Type-Moon as the illustrator for Sigurd and Brynhildr in Fate/Grand Order, but he had also privately designed other Norse characters including Ragnar on his own time, without direction from Type-Moon.[10] He eventually submitted the designs for approval after seeing how Columbus Lily had also started as fan art,[11] which led to the development of Fate:Lost Einherjar and the designs being canonized.[12]
