Rider (ライダー, Raidā?) is a Rider-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.

Rider's True Name is Queen Medb (メイヴ, Meivu?). The Eternal Lady. The queen of Connacht that appears in Celtic Mythology, the Ulster Cycle.[2] Properly married to Ailill mac Máta, she is a part of a long line of queens ruling the country.[3] A young girl of affairs who built engagements, marriages and, at times, nothing but carnal relations with many kings and brave warriors. The ringleader who caused the greatest war of the Ulster Cycle, she aimed at the life of the brave warrior of Ulster that defied her - Cú Chulainn.[2] It is said that she is endowed with the aspect of discord and conflict, as a Divine Spirit that rules over insanity, evil and royal authority.[1]

After Fergus mac Róich left Ulster due to the king having his two sons killed "out of lust for young women", he defected to Connacht out of hatred for the king. Becoming one of Medb's lovers, his influence in his desire to obtain revenge, Medb's own love of treasure, and the known curse upon Ulster causing all born there to become feeble when invaded caused Medb to start a great war, commanding the soldiers of Connacht while driving her chariot.[2][3][4]

Cú Chulainn, not born of Ulster, was the only one able to fight, so he spent his days slaughtering her soldiers until they proposed that the war be held with one-on-one duels. Due to that she was losing five thousand men per day, Medb reluctantly agreed to the terms, only advancing her army during the duels at the cost of only a single soldier per day. Medb ignored the treaty and still advanced, but only in unnoticeably small amounts due to having taken a public vow. Cú Chulainn fought through many hard battles against her, requiring even a group of untrained soldiers to sacrifice themselves to save him as he became more exhausted. Medb eventually schemed to have Cú Chulainn fight his close friend Ferdiad, who reluctantly served his lord even if it meant fighting his closest friend. The end of the battle resulted in Ferdiad's death and Connacht's defeat, followed by further defeat as the warriors of Ulster chased after Medb's retreating army. Cú Chulainn eventually captured her, but he treated her as royalty and returned her to Connacht without killing or shaming her.[3]

At some point during this period, Medb attempted to make Cú Chulainn her own, but he held no interest in her.[2] Waging war against Ulster for a second time with the motive of revenge against Cú Chulainn, she concluded that "Fergus' existence will become a bother", not inviting him to the battlefield, and he was later killed by her jealous husband.[4] She returned after gathering many warriors with grudges against Cú Chulainn, cornering him through the use of various means. He was forced to fight her army by himself, and he died after being entrapped by the various plots of Medb.[3]

Even in modern Ireland, there are many witness reports that say "I saw her". Of course, those are by no means jokes. Even now, Queen Medb lives in the hearts of people as the Eternal Lady.[2]

Rather humorously, while she doesn't mind being called by carnal-related title, she is incredibly offended if someone points out that she has "no luck with men".[5]

Medb possesses a goddess-like, perfect body since birth.[2]

« I don't hate being antagonized.
However, I cannot tolerate the fact that, among the men of Ulster, there is one man - and one alone - who did not become mine even though I thought "I want him". Even though I called out to him, tempted him. That attitude in which, let alone be swayed, simply said "what the heck are you doing?"
I won't forgive him. Won't forgive, won't forgive, won't forgive, won't forgive, won't forgive! Absolutely, not him!
Cú Chulainn of Ulster!
By the name Medb, the lover and ruler of all men, I swear! I'll surely make you succumb to me! »

A pure maiden who is neat and clean. Simultaneously, an unscrupulous maiden who is a slut.[1] Pure and tidy. Lewd and devious. Both are her true faces, and it's not like either of them are a lie. It is just that the "impression" many people catch is the former. Medb just earnestly, tidily enjoys lewdness, and purely performs deviousness. She loves good men. She really loves strong men![2] She'll love a man even more if he is one who will not yield to her! For her, it will be worth the torment![1] Not going against her own desires at all, she made many men her own while alive. The owner of the magic sword Caladbolg, Fergus, was one of her lovers. She also really loves treasures, and for that reason, she triggered a great war with the entirety of Ulster as her opponent and commanded the Connacht troops while driving her own chariot.[2] Cú Chulainn describes her as a "warmongering lady" who hated having to back down.[3]

« The main character of the world’s stage, dominator of all things, that is I — Medb.
I am Medb, Queen of Connacht.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a lover, comrade, child, or king: you all belong to me.
Everyone will be attracted to me. You will love me — and then I shall take you away.
To love is to love. I will never stop loving. To take is to take. I will never stop plundering. You cannot resist. You’ll want to be dominated by me.
Cast your wishes, not to the Holy Grail, but to my sacred spring. If you’re on a whim — maybe, something good will happen? »

Because Medb thinks she is the center of the world, she will come along to a large event even on an occasion where she is not invited. "After all, does it not seem pitiful to not notice these things, even though I spent money for things like these? Nevertheless, do be at peace, for I am coming now! The center of the world, the chosen leading actress, this Queen Medb, the ruler of everything!" Even if it is an action according to a person who craves the limelight, the person herself is uncontrollable when considering and concerning everybody else in the vicinity.[1]

Medb recognizes the Master as a "temporary master". However, she openly perceives the system called "Master and Servant" as some kind of play, and takes into consideration of it not very seriously. She herself relatively enjoys the state of affairs around herself.[1]

Holding a great hatred for the only one who spurred her advances, Cú Chulainn, Medb sought out his death upon his rejection. Although her fixation regarding Cú Chulainn still remains, her wish for the Holy Grail is unrelated to him. That is, "to make all superb men of past/present/future into my lovers." If possible, a brave warrior who is generous, won't get jealous, and knows no fear. If the Master is a brave man who measures up to her, it is probable that Medb will lavishly slap her love onto him with all of her energies, without minding public attention. Sternly, relentlessly, just like the whip she holds.[2]

Cú Chulainn
As has been said before, Cu-chan LOVE. When he became Alter, even more LOVE.[1]
"That the dreamy Ulster hero would fall madly in love with me like this, isn't it proof of my beauty and charm?"[1]
Male Servants that she likes
"Everyone wants to be my lover. My favourite type of guy is one who is generous, won't get jealous, and knows no fear."[1]
"Guys who get jealous are a no. Also, even my instinct says no."[1]

Fate/Grand OrderEdit

E Pluribus Unum: Grand Battle of Legends in North AmericaEdit

Coming into possession of the Holy Grail, Medb used it to create Cú Chulainn Alter through her wish for Cú Chulainn to rule alongside her as a strong and wicked king. She also used it to summon Fionn mac Cumhaill, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, Beowulf, and Arjuna to serve as her commanders. Leading an army of warriors that she can endlessly produce, Medb and her Servants began to conquer America to create a new Celtic nation; killing everyone who isn't Celtic. The Americans attempted to repel the Celts, but they were easily overwhelmed by the Celtic Horde. By the time Chaldea arrives, the Celts have conquered the eastern half of the United States, where Medb killed George Washington and other leaders in the process. She then established the White House in Washington as her palace, changing its appearance into something more sinister.

Medb is later ambushed by Resistance members Geronimo, Robin Hood, Nero Claudius, and Billy the Kid during a parade in Washington. Using No Face May King, the group sneaks up on Medb and isolate her in Nero’s Nuptiae Domus Aurea. However, Cú Chulainn Alter suddenly appears when Medb calls for him and attacks Nero. Medb explains Cú Chulainn Alter's tremendous strength within the theater is because he was created through her wish for him to rule alongside her as a strong and wicked king. She then calls for Arjuna when the group tries to fight Cú Chulainn Alter. While Cú Chulainn Alter fights Nero, Medb and Arjuna fight the others. During the course of the battle, following Robin's escape and Billy's death, Medb tells Geronimo she sent Diarmuid, Fionn, and Beowulf to Alcatraz to kill Ritsuka, Mash Kyrielight, Florence Nightingale, and Rama there. She declares she will destroy Thomas Edison's army with the Grail's power, but to her shock, Geronimo informs her that Ritsuka already recovered four Grails. He also predicts she will die soon, prompting her to kill him in a rage. She then orders Cú Chulainn Alter and Arjuna to pursue Robin.

During the climactic battle between the United Western States and the Celtic Horde, Medb is confronted by Ritsuka's group in Washington. She summons a group comprised of a Shadow Servant, Chimera, Dragon, and later a Spriggan to kill them. After they're all killed, she retreats back into the White House where the group chase her into. There they fight her and Cú Chulainn Alter. Though mortally wounded by Brahmastra, Medb uses the Grail to summon a group of 28 Demon Gods called Clan Calatin to attack the American Northern Army. She then gives the Grail to Cú Chulainn Alter before disappearing.

A Magical Girl's Travelogue ~Prisma Causeway~ Edit

Medb is a failed Magical Girl from a parallel world summoned into the First Lady's Reality Marble. She eventually established herself as the strongest Magical Girl during the war between Magical Girls instigated by the First Lady to prove they're strong enough to establish a kingdom based on their respective ideals. She ended as one of the survivors who were all given jewels to give them absolute authority in their respective kingdoms. Medb founded the Land of Snow and Honey as her kingdom. She eventually became the First Lady's servant and was made to gather more Magical Girls for her plan. However, she eventually rebelled against her and began building her own army of Magical Girls. Possessing magical energy greater than the First Lady, she established a leyline to Chaldea, and inadvertently inadvertently summoned Mash and Ritsuka as the former's familiar into the Reality Marble

Medb later encounters Illyasviel von Einzbern while she was looking for the recently captured Miyu Edelfelt when she hit her with her chariot. She chases after Magical Ruby when it runs off looking for help. While it's talking with Ritsuka and Mash, Medb hits them with barrage of spells from the air. She introduces herself as the Magical Girl of Honey and Geis, Connacht★Medb, the queen who rules the Land of Snow and Honey. She demands Ritsuka and Mash to immediately hand over Ruby to her as she summons monsters. Ruby refuses to let her be its master, prompting Ritsuka and Mash to fight the monsters. After her monsters are slain, Medb realizes they weren't at full strength since they're currently in the Neutral Zone. Mash tries to stop her from summoning more monsters, but her attack proves to be too weak for some reason. As Mash's attacks are continuously blocked by Mebdb, Ritsuka tells her to retreat, but she refuses to give up. Illya then arrives; Medb is surprised she survived being struck by her chariot. She invites her into her army, but Illya refuses and demands Medb to return Miyu. Infuriated by the rejection, Medb tries to kill her, but she is easily overwhelmed by Illya in her Magical Girl form. Illya's next attack meant to finish Medb off is blocked though by Medb's familiar, Mini Cú. Mini Cú reprimands her for being unprepared to fight in someone else's territory, and has her retreat.

Ritsuka, Mash, and Illya later confront her in her castle. Medb calls them for believing they can save the world themselves, saying they'll never rule their own fate. She calls the other Magical Girls unworthy of her army, only wanting Illya to join her. shethen fails to trick Illya into believing Ritsuka and Mash are secretly trying to take over her world. She decides to help Illya save Miyu in exchange for them joining her, saying they'll make Ritsuka and Mash into their slaves. Mini Cu tells her to kill the pair instead, but she doesn't listen. Medb reveals she was the First Lady's servant to grant her wish to leave this world, which led to the demise of many Magical Girls. She decides to take Illya for herself before the First Lady, but Ritsuka realizes she is fighting against despair. Illya refuses to believe that however as Medb's attack on her and Miyu made it possible for Miyu to be kidnapped, and states Medb is also trying to invade Chaldea. Ritsuka says the First Lady is at fault not Medb, which greatly enrages the latter. Mini Cu launches his Noble Phantasm at Ritsuka, but it's blocked by Mash and Illya. Reinvigorated by Mini Cu, Medb fights the group. After she is defeated, Mini Cu tells Medb that her sympathy is why she lost, though she denies it. However she does reveal she made her army for those Magical Girls who had no where left to go. This makes Illya realizes Medb considered the Magical Girls who disappeared as comrades, which makes Medb's heart to finally break. As a result her castle begins to collapse, and Ritsuka and Illya plead with Medb to come with them. However, Mini Cu tells them that's impossible as Medb can no longer bare the strain of forcibly interfering with parallel worlds. The group then escaping the collapsing castle, leaving Medb and Mini Cu to disappear together.

Solomon: The Grand Time TempleEdit

Medb is amongst the "E Pluribus Unum" Singularity Servants to aid Chaldea against the Demon Gods Pillars.[6]

Other appearancesEdit

Medb is mentioned within Lancer's flashback in Fate/hollow ataraxia.[3]

Medb has been referred to as the mother of many soldiers, but it is not like she actually gives birth to those soldiers. After taking in the genetic informations of warriors, she reproduces those inside her body. By wounding the tip of her index finger with a blade and having that blood fall on the ground, what was no more than a single drop becomes a great puddle of blood and soldiers are "manufactured" along with the blood foam. Medb is literally the "queen" and ruler of nameless soldiers.[2]

Medb's Noble Phantasms are a chariot with two bulls, Chariot My Love, her golden liquor honey infused with her legend of charm, My Red Mead, the ability of future vision possessed by Ulster King Conchobar, Conchobar My Love, and the magic sword Caladbolg possessed by Fergus via Fergus My Love.[1]

Forms and Alternate VersionsEdit

Pure and clean.

The lewd and unscrupulous Queen Medb. A single flower that blooms beautifully at the centre of the world. Or maybe, a large flower attempting to blossom in full glory as if to cover the world. In addition, this time she is an existence akin to a bikini model――― someone highly self-conscious as a flower that charms people.

Exactly because she accurately understands how much value and power her body possesses, one could say that it was only a matter of time before she was installed as a gorgeous Celebrity Servant adapted to modern times.

Creation and CreationEdit
