Sakura Saber (桜セイバー, Sakura Seibā?, lit. Cherry Blossom Saber) is the Saber-class Servant of Kohaku in the Imperial Capital Holy Grail Strange Story of Fate/KOHA-ACE, and of Kanata Akagi in the Imperial Capital Holy Grail Strange Story of Fate/type Redline. She is summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile
Identity
Sakura Saber's True Name is Okita SoujiWP (沖田総司WP, Okita Sōji?), the captain of the first unit of the Shinsengumi, a public order organization that was mostly active in the Kyoto of the Edo periodWP's closing days. Even among the Shinsengumi, which was feared as a band of master swordsmen, the one admired as the strongest genius swordsman was Okita.[3]
History
During her childhood, while she was still an apprentice at the Shieikan, the dojo of the Tennen Rishin-ryuuWP in EdoWP's IchigayaWP area, Okita Souji met Hijikata Toshizo and Kondo IsamiWP, core figures of the Shinsengumi in the future. She was skillful enough to serve as the head coach of the Shieikan at a young age, and there was no person who was superior to her regarding the talent with the sword.[2]
Kondo formed the RoshigumiWP on behalf of being bodyguards for the ShogunWP in the third year of the BunkyuuWP era, and Okita went to the Imperial Capital to participate in the group together with Hijikata. After the break up of the Roshigumi, Kondo formed the Shinsengumi together with Hijikata, and Okita was entrusted with the position of captain of the first unit.[2]
Demonstrating their sword abilities in many conflicts like the Ikedaya IncidentWP and so forth, the name of the Shinsengumi roared throughout Kyoto of the BakumatsuWP era. However, Okita's body was adversely affected by an illness around that time, and her physical condition gradually deteroriated. Before long, she withdrew from the frontlines for medical treatment.[2]
Afterwards, Okita continued her life of recuperation while separated from her comrades, but in the fourth year of the KeioWP era, she died at the place where she was medically treated in Edo's SendagayaWP area. It is said that she died without knowing of Kondo's death, who was decapitated two months prior to her death.[2]
"We swore oaths on our swords together, we raced through the times together, and we did battle together."[2]
"Even if a meaningless death lies ahead in the end, I wanted it to be that way."[2]
"Engulfed in a warm light that narrowly lies ahead, I did not want to do something like looking up at the skies."[2]
"However, it would have been nice if I had the character "sincerity" together with me up to my final moments."[2]
"————No."[2]
"Right now is the time."[2]
Appearance
Okita Souji is a female in history and she looks similar to King Arthur. A girl in her mid-teens, who wraps her body in fashionable Japanese clothing. In order to conceal her original costume, which is simply too conspicuous, Okita normally uses this outfit,[3] wearing a Taisho-style Kimono that consists of a HakamaWP and long leather boots.
Personality
Okita has both the facet of a cool-headed manslayer, as well as a cheerful side that is fond of children.[3] Although she is essentially a cool-headed manslayer, towards those who pardoned that mentality, Okita borders on being openly friendly as if they were members of the same organization. During her lifetime, since she had nearly no relationships in regards to love affairs, she is poor at exchanging conversations in that area.[2]
Okita's wish for the Holy Grail is "to fight to the bitter end." Her dearest wish from while alive, which ended not being achieved no matter how much she wanted to. Even now, after having turned into a Heroic Spirit, she is regretting not having fought to the end together with her comrades and has a wrong impression of herself as a failure of the Shinsengumi's soldiers.[2][3]
Relationships
- Oda Nobunaga
- There is a relationship between them since they competed in a certain Holy Grail War. Okita has good compatibility against this opponent as the effectiveness of the latter's ability that is specialized in Anti-Mystery is bad against her, and she furthermore thwarts the Archer's forte in marksmanship with her Reduced Earth... or so it should be, but in "Fate/Grand Order", the compatibility has been reversed!? No wayyy!![2]
- Li Shuwen
- There is a relationship between them since they competed in a certain Holy Grail War. Even MibuWP's Miss Okita has a question mark above her head as he appears to be vigorously slaughtering his enemies barehanded in spite of being a Lancer.[2]
- Sasaki Kojiro
- "Haa... As for that swallow, which swallow was it?"[2]
Role
Koha-Ace
Sakura Saber appears as a joke character in Koha-Ace. She becomes a regular character afterwards, and her identity is revealed in a later issue. Mordred calls Saber father and Sakura Saber mother due to their similar appearance.

GUDAGUDA Honnouji
Okita Souji, along with Oda Nobunaga, travel from their world to Ritsuka Fujimaru and Mash Kyrielight's world while chasing a bizarre creature resembling Nobunaga called Mini-Nobu. After Romani Archaman reports that a Singularity colliding with Chaldea is the source of the creatures, Okita and Nobunaga join forces with Chaldea to destroy the source of the creatures. Arriving in the Singularity, Okita tells the Chaldea group about how the Holy Grail in her world went out of control when it was tampered with strange technology. Later, Okita and the others observe Musashibou Sessai and Imagawa Yoshitune with an army of Mini-Nobus, which Nobunaga suspects to be brainwashing the Servants. Okita further suspects that the Servants have gained some unnecessary factors during their summoning. Agreeing with a night raid on Sessai and Yoshitune's army, Okita decides to go get the army's attention so the others can ambush them. However, her illness alerts Matsudaira Arash to the group's presence. Though she and the others defeat Arash, they decide to run when he prepares his Noble Phantasm.
Later, Okita and the others encounter Takeda Darius and Sanada Medusa, and then after defeating them, they encouner and defeat Uesugi Artoria. After Romani reports that a particle is contaminating the Servants, the group encounters Shimazu Setanta, Chousokabe Emichika and Mori Medinari, but Okita is unable to fight due to her illness. However, hearing the enemies' names causes her to don the Coat of Oaths in a fit of rage. Though Okita is able to defeat them, she collapses almost immediately afterwards.
After she had recovered, Okita and the others head towards "Osaka". During the journey though, she reveals that the Singularity wouldn't have been created if Nobunaga didn't try to turn the Holy Grail into a bomb. After arriving in "Osaka", the group encounters and defeats Toyotomi Gilyoshi, Takenaka Andersen and Kuroda Mephisto. However, after defeating them, Okita and the others are betrayed by Nobunaga when she uses the teapot-transformed core of the Grail left behind by Kuroda to restore her power. Nobunaga then reveals that she plans to use the Grail to take over the Singularity, and then proceeds to reveal her True Name, though Ritsuka and Mash aren't surprised. After Okita explains that Nobunga revealed her name during lunch, another Nobunaga appears, revealing that the Nobunaga that came with the group to "Osaka" is an impostor. Deciding to call the impostor the Bad Nobu and the real one the Good Nobu, Okita and the others proceed to battle Bad Nobu and defeat her. With the Singularity starting to collapse as the result of Bad Nobu's defeat, Okita gives her thanks and farewells to Ritsuka and Mash. However, she and Nobunga reappear in Chaldea again, where she tells Ritsuka and Mash that her evil heart has gone out of control this time, but Mash tells both of them to leave.

Fate/type Redline
Day 1
In Fate/type Redline, Okita is summoned on board a train when Kanata Akagi drops his light novel into Tsukumo Fujimiya's magic circle while she was trying to summon a Servant. The light novel acts as a catalyst and as a result, Kanata gains the Command Spells instead of Tsukumo. Okita is immediately attacked by Lancer, but she stabs him in the throat through a gap in his armor while he was introducing himself, then finishes him off and calls him a fool for trying to talk in the middle of a fight. Kanata is terrified of her because of her casual murder and the fact that she resembles a character in his light novel. She asks him if he is her Master. Though confused, he says he is. She says their contract is established, holds his hands, and gives him a smile, stunning him with how beautiful it is.
Tsukumo is angry at Kanata for stealing her Servant. Suddenly, Archer appears and challenges Okita, complimenting her eyes as those of a real killer and saying this battle should be fun. She tells Kanata and Tsukumo to run and clashes with Archer.
Their battle is interrupted when the Mysterious Officer tries to shoot Archer in the back twice. When Archer blocks the bullets, the officer furiously rants that they are just monkeys and that he and the Third Reich will win the Holy Grail War and claim the world. Okita and Archer are both annoyed by his rant and Archer kills him. Archer then tries to kill Kanata and Tsukumo has to pull him out of the way. Archer mocks her for not being able to protect her Master, infuriating her.
Okita parries bullet after bullet but can't close the gap. She tries to distract Archer by hurling Lancer's helmet and lunges, only for Archer to fire with one of her floating guns and graze the top of her head. Archer mocks her for thinking a simple trick could fool her, then lines up several guns and fires. The attack ends up destroying a large portion of the train, and Okita gets thrown into the car Kanata and Tsukumo are in. He asks if she is okay, but she tells him to stay back and not risk himself being attacked by Archer. Tsukumo asks her if she has any aces up her sleeve. When she confirms this, Tsukumo asks her to use them right away and take down Archer before the train is completely destroyed. Okita retorts that she does not take orders from her, only from Kanata, her Master. Kanata is still confused and scared, but reluctantly orders her to do whatever it takes to defeat Archer. Archer catches up to them and tries to shoot Saber, but Saber uses Lightless, Three-Stage Thrust to dodge the bullets and stab her in the shoulder.
Archer admits she underestimated her and pulls the blade out, then admits she came to confront Lancer and did not expect her. When they are about to fight again, Archer is called away by her Master, so she leaves while promising to kill her next time. Okita grabs Kanata's face and examines him because his cheek is swollen from Tsukumo slapping him, then says they should leave before people come. Tsukumo introduces herself and says she was supposed to be Saber's Master, then asks Kanata where he came from and what his goal is. Okita looks on confused as Kanata suddenly grabs Tsukumo's shoulders and stares at her face, shocking Tsukumo and making her blush.
Okita becomes alarmed when Kanata starts crying, but he brushes it off. As the trio salvage the train's wreckage, she apologizes to Kanata for not adequately protecting him from Archer and promises to win the Holy Grail for him. She then attempts to persuade him to leave Tsukumo behind. Offended, Tsukumo says they'll need her help to win. An air raid siren sounds. When Okita doesn't understand it, Tsukumo explains what it means and reveals their country is in the middle of a war, calling it a cruel joke.
Day 2
Okita rests in spirit form as Kanata and Tsukumo wander the Imperial Capital, then stop somewhere so Tsukumo can explain to him about the seven Servants, Command Spells, and the Holy Grail War. When Kanata decides he wants to win so he can use the wish to return to the future, Tsukumo slams his head into the table and threatens to kill him unless he agrees to fight for her wish. Okita materializes and threatens Tsukumo with her sword. Kanata tells her to stand down and says he agrees to fight for Tsukumo, but Okita insists she only fights for Kanata. He and Tsukumo then surprise her by recognizing her as a member of the Shinsengumi from her uniform, as she did not believe they would become famous. Tsukumo gives them some money and orders them to buy some regular clothes to blend in.
She buys a kimono and Kanata says it looks great, then takes her to a restaurant. She says she dislikes Tsukumo, so he asks her to get along as Tsukumo is important to him. Saber asks how that can be as they just met. He dodges the question by ordering ice cream. As ice cream hadn't been invented yet in Okita's time, she is delighted when she tries it and amazed when he says he eats it quite often. She then tries coffee but doesn't like its bitterness. He asks Okita if killing bothers her. Suddenly, soldiers from the Imperial Japanese Army walk up and point guns at him. She kills them all in a split second, splattering him with blood and traumatizing him. She says killing doesn't bother her because she dealt with it all the time and that people who are bothered by death are the first to die. She wipes his face with a napkin and says he has to become stronger and get used to death, because he's going to see a lot worse.
He starts to freak out and vomits, saying he cannot get used to this and cannot fight. She says it is the Servant's job to fight. He asks why she would willingly serve a loser like him, then asks what her wish is. She is shocked when his hand starts to vanish due to Assassin mortally injuring Tsukumo, his ancestor.
She says they need to get out of here and hide while wondering what is happening to his body, but he says Tsukumo is in danger and they need to save her. She says she cannot leave him alone, so he says he'll come with her. She checks the perimeter for any more soldiers while getting confused why he cares so much about Tsukumo. She carries Kanata in her arms while jumping on rooftops to return to the hotel where they left Tsukumo. She tells him she can be his sword or his shield, but at the very least she wants to stay by his side until the end.
Other appearances
Sakura Saber and Demon Archer are the regular hosts for Fate/GUDAGUDA Order.
Abilities
A genuine genius swordsman who possesses both transcendental finesse and innate talent, but as a member of the Saber Class, Okita's low Endurance and Magic Resistance stand out.[3] Both of her Saber Class Skills are very poor. Her Magic Resistance is very low as because she is a Heroic Spirit from an age where Mystery was very thin, one can hardly expect any Magic Resistance from her. Her Riding is very low as there is no anecdote that she was active in riding a horse. As a degree of apology, she is compensated with these Skills only due to her Class container.[1][2]
In addition to her illness from while alive, there is also a result of Okita being heavily painted over by the impressions held by the later masses; in a sense, she is under the influence of a curse very similar to Innocent Monster.[3] This is the Weak Constitution (病弱, Byōjaku?) Skill, a weakness struck by the nature of frail health. It is similar in nature to Innocent Monster, where the perception of the people in the future affects the existence of the Heroic Spirit.[1] In Okita's case, it is the result of the tuberculosisWP illness in her lifetime. She is accompanied by the risk of a sudden status drop at anytime of every action. The probability of risk is not high, but when it is invoked in combat, it is immense.[1]
Reduced EarthWP (縮地, Shukuchi?) is a technique to cut down the distance between opponents instantly. Many martial arts masters have pursue the extremity of Step Movements (歩法, Hohō?) in martial arts. Rather than a simple quickness, there are numerous phenomena that are connected with each other and are completed with walking, body movement, breathing, blind spots, etc.. The highest grade beyond A-Rank becomes a long dimension leap technique and it would be in the category of Sage Techniques (仙術, Senjutsu?).[1]
Okita's Noble Phantasms are her Shinsengumi uniform, the Coat of Oaths, and the Shinsengumi flag, the Flag of Sincerity. Lightless, Three-Stage Thrust, while a Skill, is treated as a Noble Phantasm in Fate/Grand Order.

Creation and Conception
Takashi Takeuchi is the character illustrator for Okita Souji.[2][3] Keikenchi is the scenario writer for her character.[2]
Sakura Saber was first introduced as part of a joke in that Takashi Takeuchi was supposed to introduce a new Servant in Koha-Ace, but instead drew another version of Saber.
It is worth noting that Irisviel von Einzbern wears an almost identical outfit in Onegai! Einzbern Consultation Room.

Anti-Unit Magic Sword. Maximum Targets: 1 person.
The sure-kill magic sword of Okita Souji, a rare genius swordsman.
Within the "first thrust", a "second thrust" and "third thrust" are contained.
Not "almost simultaneously", but horizontal thrusts that are released "exactly at the same time" from the hiraseigan-no-kamae(1); a secret sword technique produced by transcendental finesse and speed.
Level 4 Bond
In the moment of the Sandantsuki, the first thrust, second thrust and third thrust exist "at the same place" and "at the same time".
Even if the first thrust is defended against, due the contradiction of second thrust and third thrust that exist at the same place piercing through, the sword's point causes a localized phenomena saturation.
Hence, the Sandantsuki becomes a sword that, in practice, cannot be defended against.
Rather than calling it an application, it also excels object destruction by making use of the resultant phenomena saturation.
