SamsonWP (サムソンWP, Samuson?), Class Name Stray Berserker (逸れのバーサーカー, Hagure no Bāsākā?) (localized as Rogue Berserker), is the Berserker-class Stray Servant summoned in the Waxing Moon Ritual of Fate/Samurai Remnant. He allies with Master Takao Dayu.
Profile[]
Identity[]
A man from the Book of JudgesWP of the Old TestamentWP before the institution of the monarchy in Ancient Israel. A man lived during a time of repeated conflict between Israel and Philistia, when God was disciplining the Israelites by giving them "into the hand of the Philistines". ManoahWP was an Israelite from Zorah, descended from the Danites, and his wife had been unable to conceive. The Angel of the LordWP appears to Manoah's wife and proclaims that the couple would soon have a son who would begin to deliver the Israelites from the Philistines.
The Angel of the Lord states that Manoah's wife was to abstain from all alcoholic drinks, unclean foods, and her promised child was not to shave or cut his hair. Known as the last judges of Israelites, Samson was a Nazirites through a covenant with the God of the Israelites, he had great strength tied to his long hair, allowing him to achieve various incredible feats, including slaying a Lion with his barehand and massacring an entire army of PhilistinesWP using only the jawbone of a donkey.
However, he was betrayed by his love Delilah when he told her his secret. Delilah cut off his hair while he slept, and thus having become weakened, Samson was captured by the Philistines, blinded, and forced to work as a slave. When he was brought to the temple of Dagon for the Philistines to celebrate his downfall, he prayed to God to restore his strength, and upon being empowered thus he destroyed the temple, killing himself and all the Philistines within it.
Appearance[]
A tan, muscular figure of a stature easily towering to twice the height of Saber, with blue eyes and yellow-green hair of greater length than he is tall, reaching down to his feet and resting on the ground like a cape flowing behind him. His bracers bear chains, giving the impression of shackles, with similar greaves and sandals. He adorns a blue mantle, and a black, decorated loincloth. His biceps and thighs also bear metal rings around them.
Personality[]
Being summoned as a Berserker, he has lost all sense of rationality.[3] But beneath his Madness Enhancement, his wish for the Waxing Moon Ritual is to be able to forgive Delilah for betraying him, though he will be content if he can forgive anybody.[1] Samson's loyalty to Takao Dayu is because she reminds him of Delilah.[4] Despite being a Berserker, Samson is opposed to fighting and hates wreaking havoc, and so restrains himself rather than running rampant, even holding back in battle.[5][6] Despite his lacking in rationality, he still seems capable of some level of rational awareness, such as the wakizashi given to him by Takao Dayu, growing restless with it's loss and seems disgruntled when Musashi calls him out on still looking for it. Even though Iori believes he upset Samson, Takeru and Musashi both agree it instead is the opposite, claiming he was now in a good mood, Musashi even commenting he was radiating happiness. This is also shown in the Keian Command Championship where he is shown nodding in agree with Musashi's assessment of being Takao's substitute in a pair of Berserkers as her team, or seeking out Statues for the first challenge, however only picking up on pieces of her descriptions. As Musashi is capable of understanding him, it's implied he is communicating with her in some fashion. He also gives Thumbs-Up's to sign for approval or agreement.

Fate/Samurai Remnant[]
Abilities[]
After learning Samson's True Name, Dorothea Coyett claims that he is so powerful that defeating him will require the cooperation of Yamato Takeru, Miyamoto Musashi, Miyamoto Iori, Takao Dayu, and herself. She regards Samson as a peerless warrior who was blessed by the Lord. Being unfamiliar with the God of Western faith, Dorothea tells Dayu to imagine an omnipotent force. To put it differently, it is as if he had been given power by all the Japanese Gods and Buddhas.[6]
However, Samson is opposed to fighting and hates to wreak havoc despite being a Berserker.[5][6] Due to this, he usually restrains himself and doesn't let loose.[5] Even in this suppressed state, Miyamoto Musashi regards him as the strongest there is.[9] Despite Cú Chulainn's strength being weakened as a Stray Servant, Yamato Takeru and Miyamoto Iori agree that he is as remarkable as Samson.[9]
Combat[]
In combat, Samson uses his Herculean physique and monstrous strength to pulverize his enemies, utilizing punches, grapples, throws, bodyslams, and charging at his enemies, even able to punch hard enough to strike at range with the sheer force behind his strike being projected outward. Blessed with a miraculously durable body, he unflinchingly endures enemy attacks.[13] This allows him to fight bare handed. Although Yamato Takeru would like to see him use a sword with his immense strength, Miyamoto Iori believes that he is likely more proficient fighting with his fists. Miyamoto Musashi also claims that he is better at fighting alone than with a team.[9]
When Miyamoto Musashi first met Samson, her Saint Graph started to itch for a fight. After exchanging blows with him for a while, she claimed that one direct hit would put her on her butt. She couldn't believe how tough he is, regading him as the true embodiment of a Berserker, but was confident she wasn't about to lose. After a while, Musashi compliments him saying he doesn't fall, and that a million strikes are like so many bug bites to his iron body.[12]
Samson was defeated by Yamato Takeru in their first encounter,[7][9] although the latter regards him as a tenacious opponent.[7] During their second fight, Miyamoto Iori aids Takeru. Although Takeru eventually tells their Master to fall back or else he will die, Iori refuses claiming he can still fight. Their combined efforts eventually manage to calm Samson down, although Takeru says that he is just catching his breath. While he is in his Spirit Font, it will not take long for him to regain his power. Iori judges that fighting him would be a bad idea, so they retreat.[10] During their third encounter, Takeru temporarily suppresses him once again, however, they claim that they can't defeat him without their Noble Phantasm. Iori doesn't allow them to use it and decides to withdraw instead.[9]
Mind Controlled[]
Although Samson usually suppresses his true strength, this is no longer the case under Tsuchimikado Yasuhiro's mind control. Whether he has forgotten his restraint or lost it altogether, Zhou Yu states that they must reevaluate his power. Miyamoto Musashi also claims that he is even stronger than she expected.[5] In fact, Zheng Chenggong believes that Samson would surely destroy an entire town if he was allowed to run loose.[11] Musashi recommends Takao Dayu to let Samson go, as no one in the World can rival his strength. She claims that if he really put up a fight, Dayu and all of Yoshiwara would be done for. If he is running off somewhere, both Musashi and Dayu can consider themselves lucky just to be alive. Zhou Yu claims that much like Lü Bu, Samson certainly isn't lacking vigor.[5] His strength is such that, even while being bound by Zhou Yu's Reality Marble, he is still able to lift an entire ship from the water and hurl it towards Zhou Yu.[5]
Although Miyamoto Musashi is able to match Samson in this state for a while, Zhou Yu eventually tells her to fall back, claiming that fighting Samson any further could damage her Spiritual Core.[5] During their second fight, Musashi is shown dodging and exchanging blows with Samson until Takao Dayu takes an opening to sneak behind him and cut his hair off. This weakened him enough so that Yamato Takeru could kill him with a single strike on the back.[6]
Thanks to Miyamoto Musashi's first fight against Samson, Zhou Yu was able to devise a strategy to stop his rampage. He lured him to the south of the port, and then, powered by one Command Spell, heavily wounded him with Red Cliff Calamity - Cradle of Fire.[5] However, even this was unable to do more than force him to retreat.[5][6]
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Independent Action (B Rank): The ability to act without Magical Energy from a Master. At Rank B, materialization can be maintained for 2 days without a Master.[citation needed] During the events of the Waxing Moon Ritual, Samson didn't have a Master. However, unlike the other Stray Servants, he is an exception that didn't get weakened as a result.[8]
- Mad Enhancement (A Rank): Grants a bonus to all parameters, but communication is nearly impossible.[citation needed]
Noble Phantasms[]
Samson's main Noble Phantasm is Samson Agonistes. It is the blessing from God that grants him unparalleled strength, limitless stamina, and unfathomable vitality as long as he doesn't cut his hair off.[citation needed]
Samson's second Noble Phantasm is Delilah, an anguished strike comprised of all his strength.[citation needed] Zhou Yu was able to stop this attack with Red Cliff Calamity - Cradle of Fire powered by one Command Spell.[5]

[] Fate/Samurai Remnant Logbook - Biographies: Samson[T] A Foreign Fighter
A Rogue Servant bound to the Spirit Font of Yoshiwara, this long-haired warrior of imposing physique had lost all reason when summoned as a Berserker. Somehow quieted by Takao Dayu, he became the guardian of Yoshiwara. To that purpose, he violently confronted the visiting Miyamoto Iori and Saber.
Incongruous Blade
Following the battle with Rogue Berserker, Iori found a gorgeous wakizashi. It seemed strange that a foreign warrior would be carrying a Japanese sword. If it were indeed his, then how did he procure it?
Run Berserk
Under the control of some entity's powerful magecraft that only affected Rogues, he harried off to the south where he confronted Iori at Kanagawa Port. The conflict was then further ignited with the arrival of Archer and Musashi.
Consecrated Hero
His True Name is Samson, the hero of Israel spoken of in the Old Testament. He was the redoubtable judge who slayed lions and felled opponents in droves. Consecrated at birth, he would remain invincible so long as he never drank alcohol or cut his hair. And yet, after revealing the secret of his invulnerability to his love Delilah, he was betrayed. With his hair shorn, he was apprehended in a temple by the Philistines. Summoning the last reserves of his strength, he brought the temple down upon the heads of his captors and breathed his last beneath the rubble.
For reasons unclear, he was taken with Takao Dayu and allowed her to cut his hair. His first and last words were a simple, "Thank you."
Layers of Expression
The first person to notice his materialization was Takao Dayu's Servant, Miyamoto Musashi. When news of the two Servants rampaging through Yoshiwara reached her ears, Dayu herself rushed to the scene. This was when Samson laid eyes on her for the first time. For him, she bore the same presence as the person he loved, resented, and longed to forgive.
