The Sengoku Singularity is a Singularity during the Human Order Revision in Fate/Grand Order. It was located in a simulation of Japan, 1584.

The events of Chaldea's visit to this Singularity are covered in an event of Cosmos of the Lostbelt; GUDAGUDA Final Honnōji (ぐだぐだファイナル本能寺, GUDAGUDA Fainaru Hon'nōji ?), referring to the fourth collaboration between Fate/Grand Order and Fate/KOHA-ACE.

Setting[]

Sengoku map

Map of the Singularity's Japan

The Singularity originally began as a simulation inside Logos React Generic, depicting Sengoku Era Japan. The original goal of the simulation was to "unify the country", but history became distorted by the Holy Grail. High Priest Makuzu acquired the Grail, and used it to summon Maxwell's Demon. He founded the Faith of Max, a religous group that worship Maxwell's Noble Phantasm as a god. The Noble Phantasm was placed in a mana reactor underneath Honnoji when the Faith took control of the area. Children are taken from region once a month in order for the device to extract their mana to power it.[1] Makuzu planned to use the infinite mana of Maxwell's Noble Phantasm to rewrite reality to bring salvation to the masses. However, the simulation couldn't supplement the Noble Phantasm's infinite scope, and it became a Singularity that began to encroach into reality.

History[]

GUDAGUDA Math Class[]

Ritsuka, Mash, Okita Souji, Oda Nobunaga, Hijikata Toshizou, Li Shuwen, and Chacha are all hanging out in a tea room Nobunaga had built without authorization. Chacha presents the group with a strange box she and Okita Alter had found. Nobunaga, Okita, and Shuwen try to break it open to no avail. Suddenly a light from the box fills the room and everyone is gone when Goredolf Musik enters the room.[2]

Ritsuka finds themselves on a mountainside with Mash already in her Demi-Servant form. They ask her where the others are, but she informs they’re the only one she found. She also informs they’re unable to contact Chaldea, and she doesn’t know where they’re currently are. A white hooded spear-wielding woman doesn't know either.[2]

She introduces herself as Otora, a traveler. She was trying to find a way out of the mountain when she came across Ritsuka and Mash and hoped they might know a way out. Unfortunately for her, it seems they’re just as lost as her.[2]

Mash and Ritsuka introduce themselves. Otora assumes Chaldea is a family name she never heard of. Mash tries to explain what Chaldea is, but Otora tells her to explain on the road, suggesting since they’re all lost, they travel together. Ritsuka and Mash agree to travel with her and follow the mountain road in hopes of finding a village while Mash explains Chaldea to Otora.[2]

Sengoku Village

Village

They soon find a village under attack. Ritsuka and Mash go to save the villagers, but there are too many soldiers for Mash to handle on her own. One of the soldiers tries to kill Ritsuka when Otora arrives and kills the soldier. She proceeds to kill the other soldiers while Mash protects Ritsuka at her behest.

After seeing Otora kill the soldiers all by herself, Mash realizes she is a Servant. Otora apologizes for keeping it a secret until now, but she wanted to know what kind of people Ritsuka and Mash were first.[2]

A villager thanks the heroes for saving his village and offers to let them stay and rest for today. The heroes take him up on his kind offer.[2]

Mash surmises Otora has no Master. Otora confirms as much and at her suggestion forms a temporary contract with Ritsuka.[2]

Sudden Rise! Chaldea Clan's Ambition[]

Inside the villager’s house, Mash explains to Otora how she and Ritsuka ended up here. She assumes they’re in a Singularity but cannot be sure without a way to contact Chaldea. The heroes then eat the food the villager prepared for them.[3]

While eating, the villager reveals his village is near the Echigo border. Otora expected as much since she recognizes the area. The villager laments the area has been under constant conflict even before those soldiers openly attacked them.[3]

Otora asks him what year it is. The villager answers it is the twelfth year of the Tenshou, which Mash recalls corresponds with the year 1584 when Japan was in its Warring States period. She also recalls Nobunaga had died two years prior, surprising Otora.[3]

The villager then reveals there has been conflict ever since Nobunaga revived at Honnōji and occupied Echigo. Otora asks about the daimyos, certain Takeda and Houjo wouldn’t ignore a revived Nobunaga. The villager, however, doesn’t recognize those names and reveals the daimyos are all different versions of Nobunaga, much to the heroes’ surprise.

The daimyo of Kai is Oda Kipposhi; Kaiser Nobunaga established the Imperial Capital in Edo; Summer Nobunaga is in Toukai; Genuine Nobunaga is in Owari; Big Nobbu, leader of the Nobbus, is in Kaga; Finally, in Azuchi, Demon King Nobunaga blocks the way to the western paradise.[3]

Otora asks who the daimyo of Echigo is then. The villager says it is Oda Nobbu, much to Otora’s surprise.[3]

Kasugayama Castle

Kasugayama Castle in the distance.

The next day, the heroes make their way to Kasugayama Castle where they find a battle is occurring. Otora, thinking this is a great opportunity, charges in by herself.[3]

Meanwhile, in the castle, Nobunaga asks in frustration why her soldiers are having so much trouble with the enemy. A soldier says the enemy has a powerful armored warrior and believes it’s only a matter of time before they break through the castle gates. Nobunaga is annoyed that Kaiser Nobunaga has brought in robot warriors even though it’s the Warring States period. She is also annoyed she is the only general in the castle, so she’ll have to take to the field herself.[3]

Suddenly, a soldier reports another threat coming from the rear and it will not be long before they break through the rear gate. Nobunaga is perturbed that she just had to end up with a weird Spirit Origin when she arrived.[3]

The soldier then reports the enemy has broken through the rear gate. Their general is oddly familiar with the castle’s defenses and they cannot slow her down. Nobunaga orders her soldiers to hold off the enemy at the front while she sees to the rear.[3]

Nobunaga confronts Otora and attacks her with Three Linee Formation after the latter boasts she cannot beat her and insults her by calling her Fool of Owari. However, to her surprise, all of her shots avoid Otora. Otora removes her hood and reveals herself to be Nagao Kagetora.[3]

Mash recalls Usegi Kenshin was the daimyo of Echigo and was known as the strongest general in the Warring States period to the point she was called Echigo’s god of war. Her birth name was Nagao Kagetora. Kagetora apologizes for hiding her identity, as she didn’t want to frighten Ritsuka and Mash with her fame.[3]

Nobunaga finally recognizes Ritsuka and Mash, confirming she is Chaldea’s Nobunaga. She reveals her Spirit Origin changed when she first materialized, changing her class.[3]

A soldier then suddenly reports to Nobunaga that the enemy has broken through the front gate. The heroes agree to help Nobuanga and hand over to the front gate.[3]

Kasugayama Castle Front Gate

There they confront the attacker, a mysterious armored warrior. Kagetora defeats him in a battle, stabbing through his head. But to everyone’s surprise, he still lives and impales Kagetora with Ningen Mukotsu. He and Kagetora continue fighting.[3]

Mash wonders if he is a Heroic Spirit famed for his immortality. But Nobunaga points out how his armor absorbs magical energy from his surrounding to heal himself. She knows this because she already knows who he is.[3]

She concludes obliterating him along with his armor is the only way to stop him, so she blasts him and Kagetora (whom she told to dodge) with her Noble Phantasm, calling the warrior Katsuzou. None of the bullets hit Kagetora like Nobunaga expected, while the warrior’s armor is destroyed. [3]

Nobunaga reveals the warrior is Mori Nagayoshi; Katsuzou was his childhood name. He was one of her retainers when they were both alive. She asks him why he attacked her castle.[3]

Nagayoshi thanks his lord for destroying the armor, revealing it had been controlling his actions. He then begins to disappear since his magical energy has depleted and he doesn’t have a contract. Ritsuka contracts with him at Nobunaga’s request. Afterward, the heroes head inside the castle to talk.[3]

Inside Kasugayam Castle

There Kagetora declares Ritsuka the new daimyo of Echigo while she and Nobunaga are their retainers given they’re both their Servants much to Nobunaga’s chagrin. She also names Mash Ritsuka’s chief retainer since they’re so close. Additionally, she suggests she, Nobunaga, and Nagayoshi all start over as regular infantry as being rewarded for their glories is the way of the Warring States period. Nagayoshi agrees while Nobunaga does so begrudgingly considering they need to defeat her other selves eventually.[3]

Sengoku Territory Map

Map of Japan's domains

Then, at Kagetora’s behest, Mash starts the first meeting of the Chaldea clan. She suggests they gather information while ensuring their domain is stable. But looking at the map, they are currently surrounded by three other Nobunagas and are the weakest of the domains.[3]

Ritsuka asks Mash who they should attack first. She suggests Kaiser Nobunaga in souther Kanto, which Nagayoshi agrees with since she was the one who put him in that armor. Kagetora says they could also go after Kipposhi in Kai. Mash says there is also Big Nobbu to the west.[3]

Kagetora tells Ritsuka whoever they attack first, they should first recruit more soldiers and fill their coffers. Echigo has a harbor they can use for trade to earn money and gather power. Once they’re ready, they can decide which Nobunaga to attack first.[3]

Clash! Decisive Imperial Capital Battle![]

In Kaiser’s office, an officer reports to her that the Third Heroic Spirit Regiment and Second Transportation Corps sent to invade Echigo were defeated along with the Armored Heroic Spirit Soldier Type A sent along to command them: Oni Musashi. Kaiser asks a finely-dressed man wearing sunglasses what he has to say for himself.[4]

Assuming she means the Heroic Spirit Soldiers his group provided her, the man states they performed perfectly, so any losses occured due to her own strategic miscalculation isn’t their concern. But Kaiser corrects him she meant the Heroic Spirit Restraint Armor, as it was supposed to give her complete control over any Heroic Spirit imprisoned in it. She therefore asks him why Nagayoshi went to battle on his own when she never authorized his deployment.[4]

The man admits the armor’s control over a Heroic Spirit is only theoretically perfect, while in practice it is affected by the subject’s mental state. In regards to Nagayoshi, it fares the worst on Berserkers and those with Mental Pollution. But he assures Kaiser her control over the next subject will be more reliable thanks to their stable mental state. He then calls for said subject: Okita.[4]

Okita appears, declaring there is no right or wrong on the battlefield, only death to Nobbus. Kaiser questions how reliable the control is since Okita looks ready to attack her the moment she looks away and points out she isn’t even wearing the restraints. The man reassures Kaiser that Okita is wearing the restraints, stating the underwear-like Heroic Spirit Restraint Armor Type B is perfect for speedy types. As for her remark, nothing can be done about it since she was set up to kill Nobunagas.[4]

Kaiser asks him what his boss wants. The man answers all his boss asks is that they’re guaranteed the freedom to move around outside the Imperial Capital and that Kaiser continues to purchase Heroic Spirit Soldiers from them. Kaiser agrees to ignore them so long as they don’t stand in her way. The man is pleased Kaiser is reasonable and leaves, telling her the extra Heroic Spirit Soldiers she ordered will be ready tomorrow along with the prototype they discussed earlier.[4]

Suspicious of the man, Kaiser asks her officer what he learned about the group he works for. The officer reports they seem to be humanitarians, donating food and supplies to the needy and treating the sick. There is also no sign of them trying to sabotage the Imperial Capital’s operations. They do, however, seem to hold sermons whenever they give people supplies.[4]

A soldier suddenly interrupts and reports enemy forces from Echigo are heading for the Imperial Capital at great speed. Their numbers aren’t many, but they do have a few powerful Servants with them. Kaiser, seeing she had underestimated her Echigo self, orders Okita to head out.[4]

Invading the Imperial Capital, the heroes make their way to Kaiser’s Headquarters when they see alleged warrior monks handing out food and supplies to the citizens. Mash wonders if they work for Kaiser, but Nobunaga concludes from their dress they’re from elsewhere and asks Kagetora if she recognizes them. Kagetora finds they aren’t from any local shrines or temples. Everyone then notices Nagayoshi’s absence.[4]

They quickly find him ready to kill the monks for conducting their business in what he considers Ritsuka’s territory without their permission. Ritsuka tries to calm him down when Okita attacks him for disturbing the peace. She then attacks Nobunaga.[4]

Ritsuka and Mash realize something is wrong with Okita. Kagetora suspects she is being controlled like Nagayoshi was earlier, so they need to snap her out of it by force. The heroes fight Okita.[4]

Okita is defeated and regains her senses, having no recollection of what happened after she was summoned to this land. She then suddenly coughs up blood and faints. Mash decides they should let her rest until she is recovered.[4]

Kagetora notices the monks are gone, which disappoints her since she had questions for them. But seeing they can’t keep Echigo unoccupied forever, the heroes continue toward Kaiser’s headquarters.[4]

In her office, an officer reports to Kaiser enemy forces have infiltrated the complex and will soon arrive here. Kaiser orders him to bring her the prototype, not caring that her men haven’t finished making adjustments to it. She also orders her men to surrender to her Echigo self if she is defeated. The officer complies her orders and leaves.[4]

The heroes confront Kaiser, who admits her chances of victory are slim. Even so, she refuses to surrender and uses to awaken the Demon of ●●●; Mash notes it reassembles the Black Giant seen in the last Imperial Capital. Kagetora is shocked that it is a Divine Spirit-class monster. Kaiser fights the heroes with its aid.[4]

The heroes slay the Black Giant. As she disappears, Kaiser realizes she should have known the Black Giant wasn’t a prototype but defective. She is surprised to Kagetora summoned, but she thinks it was inevitable considering the structure of this world. She then disappears and with her gone Kanto now belongs to the Chaldea clan.[4]

Conqueror of the Changing Times! Oda Kipposhi![]

A soldier reports to Kipposhi the Chaldea clan’s army is currently invading Kai, numbering approximately twenty thousand. Kipposhi is impressed the Chaldea clan had assembled such a large army in such a short time. She asks the soldier how many soldiers she has right now.[5]

The soldier tells her they can’t recall the ones they sent to fight the Owari Nobunaga, so they only have 2, 000 left. Kipposhi concludes they have no chance of winning when they’re so outnumbered. She cheers up, though, after Shuwen reminds her there is more to winning a battle than simply numbers.[5]

Remembering he is from Chaldea, Kipposhi tells Shuwen he is free to go back to his companions. Shuwen, however, refuses until he repays Kipposhi for giving food and shelter when he needed it. Greatly amused, Kipposhi orders Shuwen and her men to ready for battle.[5]

On a nearby mountain road, Nobunaga complains how old-fashioned it is to bring extra flags to make their army look bigger than it actually is and how said flag bearers aren’t actual soldiers. Mash says their rearguard consits of only part timers they hired once the condition they flee once the fighting starts. It is all part of Kagetora’s plan who is noticeably absent.

It rains all of the sudden and to make matters worse the heroes are ambushed by Kipposhi and her army. The heroes fight them back, but the enemy is slowing down. The rearguard has also fled, though that was to be expected since it was in their contract.[5]

Kipposhi charges at the heroes with the intention of killing Ritsuka when a horn blown; it is an ambush from Kagetora. With her help and the remainder of their army (which Nobunaga kept secret), the Chaldea clan defeat Kipposhi and her army.[5]

But suddenly Shuwen appears and tries to kill Ritsuka. Fortunately, Nagayoshi takes the hit for them and starts to fight Shuwen. While they're fighting Kipposhi surrenders. The heroes later return to their castle joined by Kipposhi and Shuwen.[5]

Nobunobu! Nobunonobubu![]

Mash announces their next target will be the Nobbu brigade in Kaga. Kagetora interrupts her to ask what Nobbus are; neither Ritsuka nor Nobunaga have a clue as well.[6]

As a refresher, Mash explains Nobbus are embodiments of Nobunaga’s subconscious that manifested due to a freak Holy Grail accident. How they work is still unknown, but they’ve been known to spontaneously reproduce, regenerate, and evolve to the point they’re a pain for most Servants to fight. Thus far, Chaldea has been unable to do a thorough analysis on them, but a trusted source has filed them under “mysterious lifeforms”. Kagetora remains confused about Nobbus.[6]

Nobunaga asks how the Nobbus even got their own domain. Mash reveals that, according to her research, the Nobbus used to work for all the other Nobunagas. But for various different reasons, they eventually assembled in Kaga and founded a new nation of Nobbus, by Nobbus, for Nobbus.[6]

Meanwhile, Hijikata is revealed to be in Big Nobbu’s castle. He has no idea where he is or what the Nobbus want with him, but he decides to stay for a while once they offer him chilled pickles. A Nobusengumi then reports something that alarms Big Nobbu.[6]

A village of Nobbus is under attack by armored warrior monks led by a supposed warrior monk. They seek to exterminate the Nobbus under the pretense they are evil in the name of their Lord Makuzu. Fortunately for the Nobbus, Hijikata arrives and fights the monks, considering the village Shinsengumi territory.[6]

The heroes notice said battle while out scouting on a nearby mountain road. Kagetora and Nagayoshi want to eliminate both sides of the battle, but Ritsuka suspects the Hijikata with the Nobbus may be Chaldea’s Hijikata. Kagetora suggests helping the Nobbus and Hijikata in that case and kill them afterwards if they cause trouble. She orders Nagayoshi to flank from the left while she attacks the monks head-on. Nagayoshi refuses to follow her orders until Ritsuka says to.[6]

After helping Hijikata force the monks to retreat, the heroes meet with Big Nobbu in its castle. Big Nobbu is grateful for the Chaldea clan’s aid and agrees to join forces with them. Hijikata is recruited as well to command the infantry.[6]

Formed! We the Chaldea Kaientai![]

At Chaldea, Sakamoto Ryouma reports the results of his investigation into the disappearance of Ritsuka and the others to Leonardo da Vinci showing the strange box he found. Sion Eltnam Sokaris regrets it was found, especially after all the trouble she went through to seal away in the storage.[7]

She explains it is a generic version of a certain Atlas alchemist’s device for conducting thought experiments: Logos React Generic. It creates virtual simulations based on the user’s inputted conditions that are indistinguishable from reality. Theoretically, it could be used to simulate hypothetical versions of history, but in practice, its inventor failed to include a setting to smooth over the discrepancies between the simulation and reality. Thus, as more paradoxes, inconsistencies, and bugs accumulate in these simulations, its environments eventually become Singularities. But what is important right now is how to resolve the fact the Logos React Generic has become a Singularity and sucked in Ritsuka and the others.[7]

Oryou wonders if smashing it will free everyone. Sion tells not to do that because it is an Atlas artifact and they don’t know what could happen if they force shutdown. She tried to run the suspension spell included in the emergency manual, but it was deflected, indicating it has some dangerous system bugs.[7]

Da Vinci asks Sion why she was keeping something so dangerous in the storage room. Sion admits it is dangerous, but it is also valuable to her. It was one of the few birthday gifts her father gave her. Da Vinci concludes they can’t destroy something so sentimental, so she asks Sion what else can be done.[7]

Sion says their only option is for someone inside the simulation to see it through to the end and resolve the Singularity. Da Vinci recommends either sending people inside to resolve the Singularity or find a way to send a message to those inside and have them resolve the Singularity. Sion unfortunately reveals interfering with the simulation too much could result in more errors. Sending in two or three Servants is therefore the best they can manage.[7]

Ryouma decides he and Okada Izou he will go. Izou refuses to go so Oryou insults by calling him weaker than the lady who always eats udon and pointing out the fact his sword doesn’t fire beams. Okita Alter decides she will occupy Ryouma instead in that case, telling Izou he won’t be much help since his sword can’t fire beams. Izou finally agrees to go.[7]

Da Vinci gives Ryouma and the others tracking devices just in case, then proceeds to rayshift into the Singularity.[7]

Azuchi Castle Interior

Inside Demon King Nobunaga's castle

Meanwhile, in the Singularity, Akechi Mitsuhide reports to Demon King Nobunaga that Echigo Nobunaga has been conquering nearby regions. Demon King Nobunaga orders Shibata Katsuie to do reconnaissance and see what her counterpart is capable of. Shibata complies and leaves. Akechi fears there won’t be much to observe once Shibata goes berserk, but Demon King Nobunaga asserts if Shibata does end up destroying the enemy, it just means they were never worth her time to begin with.[7]

Changing the subject, she asks Akechi how the situation in Oumi is progressing. Akechi reports the entire is surrounded by a barrier of golden magical energy, making it impossible to invade. Demon King Nobunaga orders to continue his investigation. Akechi complies and leave.[7]

Alone, Demon King Nobunaga declares that this is where the true battle for survival in the Warring States begins, wondering which one of them will destroy the world, eager to see what happens next.[7]

Launch! March, Chaldea Clan![]

A flashback shows someone by the name of Torachiyo having beaten her brother Douchimaru in a sparing match. Their father, Nagao Tamekage, has Douchimaru get away from his sister. Torachiyo wants her father to praise her, but he doesn’t want to look at her saying she has the eyes of a monster. He smacks her, but Torachiyo maintains her smile. Disturbed, Tamekage decides to send her to a temple so he may never see her again and leaves.[8]

Torachiyo asks her sister Aya why their father is upset with her. Aya laments her sister has no idea why their father and brother fear her. She asks Buddha why Torachiyo was granted a godlike strength, lamenting she’ll never be able to understand how ordinary people feel.[8]

She tells Torachiyo that if she is to live among others she must worship Buddha and spend her life practicing the five virtues. It is fine if she doesn’t understand them, but she needs to learn what they mean to other people. Torachiyo is revealed to Kagetora, who promises Aya to practice the five virtues every day.[8]

In the present, Mash announces the Chaldea clan’s next target will either be Suruga, Mino, or Oumi. Nobunaga doubts Summer Nobunga in Suruga will give them much trouble. Kagetora suggests going after Genuine Nobunaga in Owari. As for Oumi, Mash reports the Nobbus, while on reconnaissance, discovered it is surrounded by a magical energy barrier, so its current situation is unknown.[8]

Kipposhi suggests splitting their army into three battalions, certain they have plenty of supplies. Mash confirms they do ever since they found gold at Sado and built a mine there. Thanks to that, they afford to split their forces three ways without any major drawbacks.[8]

Nobunaga decides to go to Owari, seeing it as it is her home. Kipposgi decides to go to Suruga with Shuwen deciding to accompany her. That leaves Oumi for Hijikata and Okita. Kagetora decides she’ll command the main force under Ritsuka then. Now all that remains is for them to choose the Chaldea clan’s next target.[8]

Attack! Kakare Shibate![]

Mash reports someone is currently invading Chaldea clan territory. Kagetora suspects the enemy waited until the Chaldea clan split its army in three to attack their base. She asks what the size of the invading army is, but Mash reveals it is only one person.[9]

On the battlefield, Chaldea infantry try to no avail to fight Shibata. Fortunately for them, the heroes arrive to fight Shibata instead, so the infantry retreat at Mash’s prompting. Kagetora and Nagayoshi both recognize Shibata and proceed to fight him.[9]

They’re unable to hurt him, however, nor is he paying attention to their attacks. He just keeps moving forwarding, with Mash noting he is doing so one step at a time. Kagetora speculates he gets stronger with each step, with Nagayoshi thinking he is getting bigger as well.[9]

Seeing they cannot allow Shibata to go any further, Kagetora considers using her Noble Phantasm to stop him when Ryouma and Oryou arrive. Ryouma has the heroes retreat a bit with them assuming he has a plan to defeat Shibata. But he doesn’t have such a plan as he believes nothing can be done when Shibata’s Noble Phantasm keeps making him stronger. He does have another plan, though. [9]

He explains Shibata’s Noble Phantasm strengthens him with every step he takes from its activation point. But he suspects the magical energy it consumes increases the further away he is. He also deduces Shibata is a Berserker, which is already a magical energy intensive class, so he thinks Shibata will reach his limit sooner or later.[9]

However, it seems Ryouma’s theory is wrong when Shibata advances before the heroes all the stronger. But just when he is about to attack, he suddenly disappears, narrowly proving Ryouma’s theory.[9]

Later, back inside the castle, Ryouma explains the situation to the others. He had been investigating ever since arriving and learned that while it is easy to enter the Singularity, leaving it is another matter entirely. So none of them will be leaving until he finds the truth, especially since he and Oryou got separated from Izou and Okita Alter during the rayshift.[9]

Changing topics, Ryouma theorizes Shibata’s range only extends from his base to Echigo’s border and once he exceeds that range he is returned to his base to recharge and start again. He proposes they take advantage of this time to gather information. He agrees with Ritsuka that destroying is an option and suspects it is somewhere in the Kinki region.[9]

Mash declares Ryouma a part of the Chaldea clan now and asks him what position he’d like. Ryouma politely declines given he and Oryou still have investigating to do. He will help out however he can though and inform them as soon as he learns something.[9]

Meanwhile, in two separate locations, Izou and Okita Alter find themselves separated from the others.[9]

Barricade! The Golden Magical Energy Obstacle![]

Ritsuka, Mash, and Kagetora go to Oumi and see the golden magical energy barrier for themselves. Hijikata reports it runs along the whole border and is impenetrable. The Nobbus have been searching for a way past but so far they’ve found nothing. Kagetora decides they should focus their efforts on the other provinces for the time being then. Hijikata promises he and Okita will inform them if they find anything.[10]

Revolt! There's No Way My Older Sister Is A Man![]

At Owari, the Chaldean army ready to clash with Genuine Nobunaga’s army. His army soon arrives and both Nobunagas accuse each other of being impostors. To prove he is the genuine article, Genuine Nobunaga reveals his appearance, showing he looks exactly like how Nobunaga is depicted in history books. The heroes get confused about which Nobunaga is the real one and ultimately retreat back to their castle.[11]

At his castle, Genuine Nobunaga celebrates his “victory” over the Chaldeans, boasting he will soon defeat Demon King Nobunaga. But Oda Nobukatsu poisons him to death for imitating his sister, who he knows would never guard down for him to kill in such a manner.[11]

The Chaldean Clan later learn of Genuine Nobunaga’s death. They then confront Nobukatsu, who has taken over Owari’s forces, on the battlefield. He accuses Nobunaga of being another fake and fights the heroes.

He is defeated and realizes Nobunaga truly is his sister, prompting him to tightly hug her, much to her annoyance.[11]

Seeing the siblings reunited, Kagetora recalls when her brother, Nagao Harukage, made the head of their clan unable to take the position himself due to his illness. But Kagetora would later overhear Harukage confessing to their sister that he is afraid of Kagetora, believing she has no soul and is only imitating the way she thinks humans are supposed to behave. He fears her eyes like their father did, fearing them more than the gods or Buddha. Kagetora merely laughs manically upon hearing this.[11]

Afterward, the Chaldean Clan return to their castle joined by Nobukatsu.

Enthusiastic Singing! Okehazama FES 2019[]

At the beaches of Suraga, the heroes witness Summer Nobunaga finish her concert. She then activates Nobunaga THE Rock ‘n’ Roll, changing the scenery into a fiery scene.[12]

Kagetora realizes it is a Bounded Field and is restricting her movements specifically. Mash realizes it is an Anti-Divinity Bounded Field, so it affects Kagetora more than it does the others since she is the avatar of Bishamonten. But Kagetora doesn’t care and fights Summer Nobunaga in spite of her restricted movement.[12]

Summer Nobunaga is defeated. She admits she has some idea why different version of herself were summoned to the Singularity and suspects there is a reason why Kagetora was summoned as well. After hearing what the heroes know, she asks them if they heard of a religious group revolving around “Lord Makuzu”.[12]

Kipposhi recalls they’re part of a temple organization based in western Osaka. Summer Nobunaga realizes their heroes are unaware of the monks’ ulterior motives and reveals their goal is to recreate paradise so that everyone can be happy. She doubts they can actually do it, but they genuinely believe it’s possible, and she calls Caster of Makuzu out.[12]

Caster of Makuzu appears right next to Ritsuka, surprised Summer Nobunaga had noticed him. Nagayoshi attacks Caster, but his attack doesn’t even affect him, with Caster stating no Servant from this time period can kill him. Nevertheless, Nagayoshi continues to attack him. He stops though when Summer Nobunaga tells him to, reassuring everyone that Caster can’t hurt them either.[12]

Caster explains he has to talk with the Chaldea clan on behalf of his lord——the leader of the Makuzu religion. He then relays a message from him, calling for Demon King Nobungaa to be defeated.[12]

Meanwhile, Akechi reports to Demon King Nobunaga that Caster has made contact with the Chaldea clan. Demon King Nobunaga asks him how the Makuzu’s base fares. Akechi reports the Makuzu’s base remains silent and their warrior monks continue to operate throughout the land, but he has already given out the order they are to be killed on sight.[12]

Demon King Nobunaga is doubtless it will not before the Chaldea clan makes their way to her. Akechi is unconcerned because as long as Demon King Nobunaga’s magical energy continues to strengthen Shibata, the Chaldeans will never set foot in Azuchi. He does agree with Demon King Nobunaga, though, that the Chaldeans may be tenacious and decides to join Shibata’s rearguard.[12]

At Kasugayama Castle, the heroes continue their conversation with Caster. He explains Ritsuka and the others will never be able to leave the Singularity as long as Demon King Nobunaga lives and that her goal is eradicate all life in Japan.[12]

He has also confirmed she is the one controlling Shibata. He and the Makuzu religion had investigated him and learned there is someone in Oumi who can deal with him. While he has never seen this person, he is confident they are why Demon King Nobunaga has yet to advance on Oumi. Nagayoshi insists they go to Oumi and recruit the Servant there, which Kipposhi agrees with.[12]

Caster interprets this to mean everyone is in agreement. Satisfied, he wishes everyone good luck against Demon King Nobunaga and offers to supply the Chaldeans. But Kagetora asks him what he wants, not as a Servant but as a person. Caster says he wants all of mankind to be happy and leaves, telling the heroes they’ll see him after they’ve defeated Demon King Nobunaga.[12]

Shuwen and Kagetora both find strange, with the former unsure if he is human. Summer Nobunaga agrees, but she is certain he isn’t lying and knows her Demon King self is the strongest of the Nobunagas. She doesn’t know which of them is worse though and declines to expand on what she means, wanting the heroes to see for themselves.[12]

She then prepares to leave confessing she has been on the brink of death ever since she and the heroes fought. She might disappear at any moment, so she wants to go back to Suruga and relax in its hot springs. But she gives the Chaldea clan her Kabuki Nobbus before she goes.[12]

Resurgence! Azaio Family's Ambition![]

The heroes return to Oumi learning from Okita and Hijikata that its barrier has mysteriously disappeared. They take this opportunity to invade with their army.[13]

Meanwhile, Chacha is revealed to be the daimyo of Oumi and the head of the Azai Clan. She resides in is Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s castle, which she found after arriving in the Singularity even though it’s in the wrong location. Through it, she created the barrier that surrounded Oumi, intending to wait until the other daimyos kill each other and conquer all other provinces while they’re weakened.[13]

Unfortunately for her, a soldier reports that Oumi’s barrier has disappeared and they are now under attack by a highly skilled army. He points out her life of luxury and indulgence had exhausted the castle’s Magical Reactor. Chacha realizes she forgot the castle’s Magical Reactor cannot be replenished without Hideyoshi, so now the castle is completely defenseless. Nevertheless, she decides to fight the enemy head on and orders her men to battle.[13]

The heroes arrive at the castle, which Okita and Nobunaga recognize it from before. Hijikata finds it strange how the battle has been. Kagetora notes the enemy seems unsure whether they should fight or flee, leading her to doubt a half-decent general is leading them.[13]

Chacha confronts the heroes, surprised to see her aunt. Nobunaga remembers Oumi used to belong to Chacha’s father, Azai NagamasaWP. Chacha says she has been working hard to restore the Azai to glory and declares her intention to unify Japan and create a world where she live out her days surrounded by sweets. She assumes the heroes want to stop her and so she attacks them.[13]

She is defeated and is recruited into the Chaldea clan. Now the only daimyo left is Demon King Nobunaga.[13]

Defeat Them! Kakare Shibata's Weakness![]

At Kasugayama Castle, the heroes agree they need to first find a way to defeat Shibata before they can invade Azuchi. Nagayoshi and Kagetora both agree Caster lied to them when he said they’d find a Heroic Spirit capable of defeating Shibata in Oumi, but they didn’t find anyone like that.[14]

Hijikata suggests fighting Shibata head on now that they have the numbers. The others seem to agree with this all-or-nothing approach when Chacha and Nobukatsu cut in.[14]

The heroes later fight Shibata when, just like was planned, Nobukatsu arrives. Shibata is shocked to hear his voice and calms down a bit.[14]

Nobukatsu admonishes Shibata for pretending to be Nobunaga’s loyal attendant after he let him convince him to betray her and so asserts he has no right to side with her now. Shibata is shocked to see Nobukatsu is alive as he knows Nobunaga killed him and stops moving.[14]

Nobunaga is surprised to hear Shibata is still hung up on the fact he sided with Nobukatsu’s revolt back when they were all still alive. Of course, she and Shibata were able to reconcile and he became one of her trusted retainers. Shibata still feels guilty about his betrayal though which is why he was so affected by Nobukatsu’s words earlier.[14]

Nobukatsu continues to guilt trip Shibata, causing the latter’s Spirit Origin to weaken. The heroes take this chance to fight him again.[14]

They bring him to his knees, but he refuses to be defeated and gets back up. He admits in a single lapse of judgement he betrayed Nobunaga, but that is why he so fervently wished to serve her now. It disgusted him to see Hideyoshi essentially destroy the Oda clan following Nobunaga’s death and believes it was his own cowardice that led to OichiWP’s death. That is why he will not retreat, promising Demon King Nobunaga to devote all of his strength and will to this battle.[14]

He readies to fight the heroes once again when Chacha arrives. She tells him he can rest now, telling him what happened wasn’t his fault as everything changed with the times. She is also certain her mother never blamed him for her fate. To her he hasn’t changed from when she and her sisters first visited Kintanoshou and tells him again to rest, calling him father.[14]

Shbita cries, surprised Chacha would still call him father and begins to disappear when she says she is proud to be his daugher. He realizes he had been unable to come to terms with his own cowardice and asks Nobunaga for forgiveness, for it seems he is destined to be disloyal in the end. He disappears, remarking all it took was a single remark from his little girl to take the fight out of him.[14]

Descent! Demon King Nobunaga![]

Azuchi Throne Room

Demon King Nobunaga's throne room

At Demon King Nobunaga’s throne room, Akechi report to her on Shibata’s death and that the Chaldea clan is preparing for a direct assault on Azuchi. Demon King Nobunaga decides they will muster all their forces and meet the Chaldea clan in battle, declaring this battle will decide everything.[15]

Akechi, however, informs her they’re currently unable to feed their troops. Demon King Nobunaga is confused as she thought they had plenty of rice to spare thanks to the string of bumper rice they had in recent years. Akechi informs he was told a merchant named Kameyama Troupe purchased the majority of Azuchi’s rice supply.[15]

At Kasugayama Castle, Ryouma informs the others what he did. Shuwen thinks they should attack now that the enemy’s newfound poverty has greatly impeded their capabilities. But Kagetora doubts it will not be so simple, so she proposes they split their forces: one army will assault Azuchi directly as a diversion, allowing the main one to slip into the castle undetected.[15]

She will join the main force, wanting to confirm something about Demon King Nobunaga herself. Hijikata, Okita, and Kipposhi will lead the diversionary force. The main force will also consist of Ritsuka, Mash, Shuwen, Nagayoshi, and Nobunaga. Chacha and Nobukatsu meanwhile will stay behind. As for Ryouma and Oryou, they will continue their investigation, still needing to find Izou.[15]

In her throne room, Demon King Nobunaga laughs, impressed by the fact the Chaldea clan had attacked her supply chain, having thought she was the only in this period who could wield economics in war. Akechi apologizes for failing to prevent this, but Demon King Nobunaga says it is no of matter as she knows her army alone was never going to prevail over the enemy’s Servants anyway. She was always going to face them herself at some point.[15]

A soldier reports the Chaldeans have begun invading Azuchi, their forces numbering about 60,000. Akechi suspects it is a diversion and that a separate unit will use that to make their way into the throne room. Demon King Nobunaga expects that as well.[15]

She then gives Akechi command of her army, ordering him to the enemy in battle. Akechi is shocked, as that would be playing right into the enemy’s hand. Demon King Nobunaga asks him in a threatening tone if he thinks she would lose and accuses him of plotting to betray her again. Akechi swears he will never do that again and complies with her command, but he wants her to at least take “him” with her to help against the enemy Servants. Demon King Nobunaga begrudgingly agrees to do as Akechi suggests.[15]

Ritsuka, Mash, Kagetora, Shuwen, Nagayoshi, and Nobunaga have made inside the castle with surprisingly little resistance. But then Ritsuka is nearly assassinated by Izou, who is now a retainer of Demon King Nobunaga. Fortunately, Shuwen stops him.[15]

Izou, realizing he has no other option, has his men come out of hiding. Shuwen decides he and Nagayoshi will stand behind to hold off Izou’s men while the others go on ahead. Ritsuka, Mash, Kagetora, and Nobunaga fight Izou to get past him.[15]

Meanwhile, at the Makuzu headquarters, the High Priest asks Caster how his plan is progressing. Caster reports the Chaldea clan is readying to confront Demon King Nobunaga. The High Priest is pleased to hear this, as once Demon King Nobunaga is gone, they can finally go about saving all living creatures. Caster believes the Chaldeans will be receptive to their goal than Demon King Nobunaga and may even volunteer to help accomplish it.[15]

Ritsuka, Mash, Kagetora, and Nobunaga, having defeated Izou, proceed to Demon King Nobunaga’s throne room and fight her.[15]

Meanwhile, the diversionary force fights the enemy army led by Akechi. Kipposhi begins to disappear, indicating to her that something has happened to her other selves. Akechi seems to know what is about to unfold.[15]

Demon King Nobunaga has been defeated, very much pleased her role is complete. She asks Ritsuka if they truly believe paradise will come to this world now that she is about to disappear. She doesn’t elaborate what she means and disappears in flames. But to everyone’s surprise, Nobunaga is now inexplicitly her Demon King self.[15]

Paradise of the West[]

At Kasugayama Castle, Akechi reveals Nobunaga is now a fusion of all the Nobunagas that were in the Singularity. Hijikata reveals Akechi surrendered himself as soon as Kipposhi disappeared. Akechi admits he has information on the true enemy when a soldier reports Caster is requesting an audience.[16]

Akechi expected this and recommends to Nobunaga they leave this to the Chaldeans and retire to the guest chambers for the time being. He asks Ritsuka to find out what is Caster wants. Ritsuka agrees to meet with Caster. Akechi tells Ritsuka to tell Caster that he and Demon King Nobunaga both perished in the recent skirmish.[16]

Caster congratulates the Chaldeans on defeating Demon King Nobunaga, then proposes peace talks between their factions to bring an end to all the conflict in this world once and for all. Once an agreement has been reached, they of Makuzu will lend their assistance to Chaldea and all living creatures.[16]

The Makuzu’s goal has always been the salvation of all living creatures. They were forced to arm themselves to defend themselves and their allies from Demon King Nobunaga’s machinations but with her gone now there is no longer any need to. Caster thus implores the Chaldean join the Makuzu to take the first step toward peace. As for their terms, his lord will discuss that in person at the Makuzu’s main temple——Makuzu Honnoji.[16]

Later, on their way to the Makuzu’s main temple, the heroes stop at a village to rest. There they’re offered all the food and drink they want, learning none of the villagers work thanks to the Makuzu providing everything. There are also no children in the village, as they’re all training under Lord Makuzu himself at his headquarters in the mountain to become future Makuzu monks.[16]

Nearing the Makuzu headquarters later, the heroes all have their misgivings about the Makuzu’s idea of paradise on Earth. Kagetora urges they hurry to the Makuzu headquarters so she can verify what Akechi told them.[16]

Before Ritsuka and the others left Echigo, Akechi revealed the Makuzu are based in an alternate Kyoto, looking nothing like the one they’re all familiar with. He then decided he and Nobunaga would wait for Ritsuka and the others to return from their peace talks with the Makuzu, so the latter do not learn of their survival. Okita also decided she and Hijikata to stay behind as well to ensure Nobunaga doesn’t cause trouble.[16]

Mazuku Honnoji Gate

Makuzu Honnoji

The heroes arrive at Makuzu Honnoji, where they see a monk unexpectedly eating meat and drinking alcohol. The monk demands a bride to allow the heroes into the temple, but he nearly turns hostile when Nagayoshi threatens to kill him. Fortunately, Ryouma appears and bribes the monk to allow everyone entry.

Continuing on their way, Mash asks Ryouma if he has been here before. Ryouma confirms has considering it a good spot for business and gathering intel. Kagetora asks him if all the monks are like that monk from before. Ryouma says most of them are like that.[16]

He then confirms all those living under the Makuzu do not have to worry about food with every aspect of their lives depending on the Makuzu’s generosity. Thanks to that, the people always have plenty to eat and do not to need to work for it. It could be considered utopia if not for the fact no one has any life in their eyes.[16]

The heroes arrive at the main hall of Makuzu Honnoji. Ryouma says he and Oryou still have business to take care of, so they’ll see the others later.[16]

Oryou asks them if they ever found Izou. Mash tells her and Ryouma that he is still on medical leave. In reality, he is the Chaldea clan’s prison being interrogated by Shuwen until his alleged brainwashing has worn off. Ryouma is pleased to hear Izou is doing well and leaves with Oryou.[16]

Afterward, guided by Caster, the heroes enter the main hall and finally meet the High Priest of Makuzu. Kagetora asks him if the Makuzu truly wants a peace treaty with the Chaldea clan. The High Priest reaffirms they do, seeing no more reason to fight now Demon King Nobunaga is gone. They had no wish to fight her, but she still invaded their lands and harmed their believers.[16]

Kagetora asks the High Priest that if the Chaldea clan agrees to his terms, what he hopes to accomplish when all of Japan is unified. The High Priest answers they only wish to save all living things through the limitless power of their god, Lord Makuzu.[16]

But Kagetora tells him humans can never hope to live full lives if they depend solely on gods and Buddha for everything. That is why they mustn’t be slaves to their whims and live their lives one day at a time. The Makuzu monks, however, indulge in alcohol and meat, vices unthinkable for those whose lives are devoted to Buddha.[16]

The High Priest sees no point in practicing asceticism when their god provides with everything. He laments Kagetora had placed her faith in a god as dull as Bishamonten and suggests she embrace the Makuzu’s god instead. Kagetora dislikes her god being insulted and demands to know who the Makuzu’s god is since she never heard of him before.[16]

Nagayoshi asserts the Makuzu’s god doesn’t exist, but the High Priest asserts he does exist and proclaims he is with them right now. A sudden burst of magical energy then disables the heroes. The High Priest claims even the greatest Heroic Spirit is helpless against Lord Makuzu’s power. He is surprised, though, to see the heroes can still barely move under Lord Makuzu's power, so he orders Caster to rough up the heroes a little.

Caster apologizes for what he is about to do and assures he wasn’t lying, but as a Servant he cannot disobey his Master. He then calls on the armored warrior monks to capture the heroes. The heroes try their best to fight off the armored warrior monks.[16]

As the heroes continue fighting as more armored warrior monks come, Kagetora realizes the hall is designed to restrict Servants’ movements. The High Priest reminds that Lord Makuzu’s magical energy is limitless, but Mash says that’s impossible as every source of magical energy no matter how strong has a limit.[16]

Astonished that the heroes still refuse to believe, the High Priest orders Caster to detain them and turn them into armored warrior monks or something. With Demon King Nobunaga now gone, there is no one left to defy Lord Makuzu. Kagetora tries to attack, but another burst of magical energy completely stops her from moving.[16]

Caster apologizes, reaffirming the magical energy in the hall is limitless. Kagetora warms Chaldea’s army will come demanding answers if she and others do not return when they said they would. The High Priest replies the very idea of soldiers will lose all meaning once true paradise arrives. The heroes are all rendered unconscious.[16]

Eternal Unburning Nirvana, Makuzu[]

A flashback from Kagetora’s past shows her praying to Bishamonten for help, as she cannot understand humans. She knows humans are weak and fragile, that they curry favor with those stronger than themselves and trample upon those weaker. Yet despite that, she has devoted her life to protecting in the name of virtue and morality.[1]

She has killed many people in war, for that is all that monstrous strength that her father, brother, and sister feared is good for. She has no doubt she will more people as the wars continue. But she questions if she truly protecting people by killing others. She again prays for Bishamonten’s help, for she cannot understand people no matter how hard she tries.[1]

In the present, the heroes are now in prison. Nagayoshi recommends they escape and kill Caster, but Kagetora points out that their restraints prevent them from even moving. They seem to be designed to sap Servants of their strength.[1]

Ryouma and Oryou come to visit the heroes in their cell along with Caster. Nagayoshi, seeing Ryouma with Caster, accuses the two of them being allies this whole time. Ryouma seemingly confirms that is the case, but Caster’s response implies that really isn’t true.[1]

Caster then restores the heroes’ strength, allowing them to remove their restraints, and reveals his True Name is Maxwell. He isn’t quite the 19th century mathematician, but it’s close enough for now. He isn’t the heroes’ enemy and only imprisoned them because he has a personal request for them. He wants them to destroy him.[1]

Meanwhile, at Kasugayama Castle, Akechi and Nobunaga hear the people outside screaming. A soldier reports a number of Black Giants have appeared all through their territory and begun attacking their citizens. Hijikata accuses Akechi of being responsible, but Akechi asserts his loyalties lie solely with Nobunaga and would rather not be associated with those cultists. He says they have begun the creation of their so-called paradise.[1]

While escaping via the sewers, Ryouma explains the Singularity’s goal is to unify all of Japan, but it also contained a Holy Grail. The High Priest never cared about unifying Japan and ignored it to seize the Grail for himself before anyone else could. He wasn’t even a Master, being just a regular monk. It was only after he found the Grail that he summoned a strange Servant.[1]

Ryouma elaborates by strange he means this Servant would never normally even exist. He only manifested in the Logos React Generic thanks to Atlas and the far future technology used to create it. Maxwell confirms that is him——Maxwell’s Demon, a fictional demon created for a thought experiment as a way to demonstrate how the second law of thermodynamics might be broken.[1]

Maxwell explains his Noble Phantasm generates limitless magical energy and now his Master is using that energy to capture the Holy Grail War and thereby conquer the Singularity. But his Noble Phantasm could never exist in the normal world, not even in modern times, as no one has managed any practical application of the thought experiment. His existence as a Servant along with his Noble Phantasm is only possible in the Logos React Generic’s simulation.[1]

Perpetual Magical Energy Generator

The Perpetual Magical Energy Generator

The heroes arrive at the Makuzu’s secret underground facility, where they see the Perpetual Magical Energy Generator operated by Maxwell’s Demon. Maxwell points out the Magical Reactor’s central core contains his Noble Phantasm.[1]

Nagayoshi notices something in the surrounding containers. Maxwell reveals those are the children who came from the nearby villages the Magical Reactor draws on their magical energy to operate. His Noble Phantasm isn’t truly perpetual as it requires a bit of pure magical energy, i.e. children’s life force, to operate. Being a fictional demon who wishes to create a true perpetual motion machine, he too shares the others’ disgust toward his own Noble Phantasm.[1]

The High Priest appears, having just heard the reason for Maxwell’s betrayal. Ritsuka demands he release children this instant. The High Priest reveals Maxwell’s Noble Phantasm only needs a small amount of pure magical energy, so all they need to do is switch out the children a few times a month and everyone else can enjoy the benefits of Lord Makuzu. He cannot understand the others’ disgust as he considers a small sacrifice worth everyone’s peace and happiness.[1]

Ryouma agrees with him to an extent, but it’s never those in power who make that sacrifice. His investigation revealed the Makuzu’s “small sacrifices” have been growing rapidly and, at this rate, they will need far more than a few children.[1]

Maxwell further explains to his Master that by continuously generating magical energy on an impossible scale, he is causing Maxwell’s Demon to accumulate fatal errors. The simulation will soon not to be enough for it, which is why the High Priest is planning to use the Singularity to begin eroding reality as well.[1]

The High Priest justifies his actions by saying he requires the limitless magical energy to end all suffering. But tired of talking, he releases three Black Giants to eliminate the heroes. The heroes try to fight the Black Giants.[1]

Unfortunately for the heroes, the Black Giants’ numbers never diminish and only grow thanks to Lord Makuzu’s limitless magical energy. Seeing it is futile to continue fighting, the heroes retreat to the surface.[1]

They make it outside but are met by more Black Giants. Mash fears this means they’re appearing all across the Singularity. Maxwell confirms they are, explaining they are magical energy distortions that emerge as byproducts of his Noble Phantasm. They’re like a chain of fatal errors in the system that runs this world. Kagetora concludes Maxwell is saying they signify the end of this world is fast approaching.[1]

The High Priest appears and summons a unique Black Giant he declares is Lord Makuzu’s true form. Mash detects its magical energy is stronger than the others when she notices the giant hole behind it. The High Priest boasts no one can stop him and commands the God of Makuzu to kill the heroes.[1]

Maxwell concludes they are too late to spot it, for God of Makuzu is a truly omnipotent demon able to remake every aspect of this world thanks to its inexhaustible supply of magical energy. It is Maxwell’s Demon.[1]

Nagayoshi attacks it but it is useless. Maxwell wonders what he should do as the God of Makuzu is stronger that he calculated. But he immediately realizes it’s worse than that as the reactor core is already going haywire. He fears they can do nothing to stop it.[1]

Kagetora tells Ritsuka to escape, deciding to fight the God of Makuzu herself, believing as the avatar of Bishamonten she can at least take it down with her. Ritsuka, however, refuses to abandon her or the children. Kagetora admits she agrees with the High Priest that small sacrifices are, at times, needed for the greater good and considers herself one Ritsuka needs to make to fulfill their greater obligation as a leader. Ritsuka disagrees with her, though.[1]

Having wondered about it ever since they met, Kagetora asks Ritsuka why they go so far to save others without any regard for their own wellbeing, especially when they’re such an ordinary weak human. Ritsuka gives their answers. Kagetora laugh at them for their reliance on others.[1]

She has never seen such a weak and pathetic human, finding a painful to even look at Ritsuka. They can’t do anything without relying on others for help, yet they want to save everyone around them. Kagetora calls them arrogant and impertinent and their wish is impossibly audacious, but one she considers worth risking everything she has to fulfill. She now believes she understands what it is makes people human.[1]

Turning her attention to the High Priest, she decides to remind him she is Echigo’s god of war and begins to recite a chant; Mash sees several different swords gather around her. Kagetora soon finishes her chant. The High Priest sees a figure behind them, surprising Kagetora that he is still a follower of Buddha despite how far he has fallen. She reveals it is her guardian, Biten, summoned by her Noble Phantasm——Touhachi Bishamonten. Nagayoshi can also see it.[1]

The High Priest is in utter disbelief, refusing to believe the gods and Buddha would ever appear in this world. Kagetora declares herself Bishamonten to the God of Makuzu and fights it.[1]

She defeats it with Bishamonten’s Eight Phases Wheel Charge Formation. The High Priest refuses to accept this outcome and tries to use the Grail to heal the God of Makuzu when Nobunaga appears.[1]

The Demon's Thunderous Descent[]

Earlier, Okita Alter saved a mother and child from a Black Giant, introducing herself as Majin Okita Souji.[17]

Meanwhile, the Chaldea clan’s army, with the aid of Izou, were struggling against the invading Black Giants when Nobunaga joined the battle, bringing Shibata, who was resummoned by Akechi, with her. On her command, Shibata began to advance to clear a path for everyone else to follow to Makuzu Honnoji.[17]

In the present, the High Priest is shocked to see Demon King Nobunaga still lives and demands an explanation from Maxwell. Maxwell reveals the Demon King Nobunaga from Azuchi did indeed die, but this one is the one from Echigo. The High Priest realizes Maxwell had deceived him and decided to eliminate everyone and uses the Grail to heal the God of Makuzu.[17]

Makuzu Honnoji Burning

Makuzu Honnoji set on fire by Nobunaga

Seeing the God of Makuzu for herself, Nobunaga realizes so many versions of herself were summoned to destroy it. The High Priest calls her the enemy of all living creatures and demands she fall before Lord Makuzu. Nobunaga admits she is indeed the enemy of all living creatures, for she is the Demon King of Sixth Heaven, but even the Sixth Heaven fails to fully capture what she has become. She declares herself the embodiment of all Nobunagas——Oda Nobunaga, Demon King of the Myriad Heavens——and sets the entire temple on fire.[17]

The High Priest refuses to believe she is the embodiment of all Nobunagas as the only way she could be is unless she has a limitless supply of magical energy when he realizes Maxwell is responsible. Maxwell confesses he is supplying her with the necessary magical energy at cost to himself. It was thanks to Kagetora he was able to regain some control of his Noble Phantasm. At his encouragement, the heroes then fight the God of Makuzu again.[17]

Despite a fierce battle, the God of Makuzu still remains active thanks to the Grail. Fortunately, Okita arrives and destroys the Grail with Lightless, Three-Stage Thrust.[17]

As the God of Makuzu disappears, the High Priest laments that this means there are gods and Buddha do not exist in this world. But Nobunaga tells him gods do exist and they can be found inside Ritsuka. She elaborates she means the gods cherish those who help themselves the most. Each individual person’s potential may be limited, but the potential that lies in all people, Nobunaga considers that to be the true face of the gods.[17]

The High Priest refuses to believe Nobunaga’s words as she is supposed to be the enemy of all living things and the destructor of the gods. Instead, to his surprise, she sounds like a guardian of mankind. He then promptly disappears.[17]

Kagetora presumes the High Priest was once a fervent believer, given his obsession with gods and all living things. Maxwell confirms his Master devoted his life to saving all living things in lieu of Buddha’s salvation, but he lost sight of his original goal and his methods only become more twisted from there.[17]

He begins to disappear and thanks the heroes for their help. Unfortunately, it’s impossible for him to exist in human history, so he cannot return the favor. But if mankind ever manages to harness unlimited energy, they may meet again. Maxwell disappears, praying mankind’s future gets better.[17]

Kagetora disappears afterward, promising to come to Ritsuka’s aid if they pray to Bishamonten with all their heart calling them her first and final Master.[17]

Ryouma, Oryou, and Izou get ready to return to Chaldea. Before they go, Ryouma tells Nobunaga he is leaving the rest to her, indicating to her that he knew more than he let on. Ryouma, Oryou, and Izou return to Chaldea.[17]

Immediately after they’re gone, Da Vinci contacts the heroes, much to Mash’s relief. But Sion warns the virtual pseudo-Spiritrons in Logos React Generic are at risk growing so large they clash with the real world, causing a massive explosion. The Wandering Sea may survive, but the Chaldea base would be completely annihilated.

Mash asks how that is possible, as she thought the causes of the Singularity, Maxwell’s Demon and the Grail, were gone. But Da Vinci reveals those two weren’t the only things that created and sustain the Singularity. It is because of an abnormality that occurred in 1582 the year of Honnoji went up in flames.[17]

Nobunaga surmises in order for the Singularity to disappear, she needs to disappear with it. She accepts it must be done, deducing as an amalgamation of many possible Nobunagas all linked to the Singularity she cannot last much longer.[17]

Ritsuka worries what will happen to Chadlea’s Nobunaga if Nobunaga disappears. But Nobunaga tells them she already died once in Honnoji, so historically speaking she is practically required to disappear here. If she remained alive, it would turn into a Lostbelt.[17]

Okita is in utter disbelief that Nobunaga just accepts her fate, asking her what happened to the Nobunaga who’d flail and scream about not wanting to die at a time like this. Nobunaga tells her it’s because she is no longer her Chaldea and tells her to leave. Hijikata and Okita both accept Nobunaga’s fate and return to Chaldea.

Nagayoshi decides to stay behind, doubting he’d fit Ritsuka’s time considering how violent he is. Mash thanks him for his service as First Spear of the Chaldea clan. Nagayoshi tells Mash to take care of Ritsuka.[17]

Sion rayshifts Ritsuka and Mash to rayshift back home, reassuring Chacha and the other Servants were already sent back. But before they go, Ritsuka and Nobunaga promise they will see each other again.[17]

Nobunaga asks Nagayoshi if he is sure he wouldn’t rather have gone with Ritsuka and Mash. Nagayoshi admits he thinks Ritsuka is great but also too soft, so he wonders what sort of world they’re from that let them survive for long. Nobunaga tells him the fact a weakling like Ritsuka has survived and thrive for so long proves mankind successfully created a world for all kinds of people, not just the strong. She convinces him to join Ritsuka and protect them in absence.[17]

After Nagayoshi disappears, Nobunaga, Akechi, and Shibata are all consumed by the flames.[17]

GUDAGUDA Pipe Dream[]

In Ritsuka’s room, they and Mash both note Okita misses Nobunaga, though she tries to deny it. But then Nobunaga enters the room, much to the surprise of Mash and Okita. She was willing to die, but before she crossed over to the other side, she and the other Nobunagas conversed.[18]

The other Nobunagas all agreed since she had no connection with the Singularity, it would be fine for them to cut off Chaldea Nobunaga from the rest of them and send back to Chaldea. Demon King Nobunaga assured her so long as she is there, there may be another chance for the rest of them to materialize.[18]

Kagetora suddenly bursts into the room just when Nobunaga was about to reveal she also came back. It seems she had been summoned to Chaldea, though she isn’t sure how it happened.[18]

Chacha bursts into the room, saying “Mr. Scaryface” is throwing a fit in the cafeteria and implores everyone to come with her.[18]

Ritsuka and the others arrive in the cafeteria to find Hijikata and Nagayoshi fighting because the latter ate the former’s pickles. Nobukatsu is also inexplicitly there, much to Nobunaga’s confusion.[18]

Kagetora, watching the antics unfold before her, concludes there is never a dull moment at Chaldea. Nobunaga affirms they never have to worry about boredom, though in exchange they have to deal with a number of crisies, some of which are world-ending.[18]

She asks Kagetora if she is certain about joining Chaldea. Kagetora replies “absolutely” because the way she sees it, Bishamonten sent to Chaldea specifically to help with these potential world-ending crises. She cannot think of a better reason for Bishamonten to lend aid than saving the world. She, Nobunaga, Ritsuka, and Mash then have lunch together.[18]

Meanwhile, Okita Alter is revealed to be still in the Singularity. She also learns her sword Rengoku is sentient and has been giving advice during battle this entire time.[18]

All-Out Alter Assault GUDAGUDA Final Majin Front 2019[]

Later, everyone learns Okita Alter is still in the simulation. It seems their failure to retrieve the Grail and bring back Okita Alter from the Logos React Generic has caused it to develop a plethora of bugs. Ritsuka, Mash, Nagayoshi, Kagetora, and Okita rayshifted back into the simulation to collect them both.[19]

Meanwhile, in Demon King Nobunaga’s former castle, Okita Alter (now bearing the title of demon lord) senses the Chaldeans have come. But according to her, the Grail has attracted Alters of all types, so fixing the Singularity will not be easy.[19]

The heroes defeat Roman Daimyo Nero, though she wasn't an Alter .[26]

GUDAGUDA Majin War[]

The heroes finally find Okita Alter in Demon King Nobunaga’s former castle. They try to get her to come back with them, but she says she cannot leave. Nobunaga realizes it isn’t really Okita Alter. Impressed, Rengoku, Okita Alter’s own sword, reveals he has possessed her body and fights the heroes.[27]

Rengoku is defeated, waking Okita Alter up, who had been asleep this entire time. Hearing Rengoku upset, she asks if he did something while she was asleep; Ritsuka informs he was controlling her. Rengoku confesses he didn’t want to disturb her sleep, believing she deserved a good long rest for once, which is why he maintained the Singularity.[27]

Tremors suddenly occur, so Mash assumes the Singularity is collapsing. But Rengoku reveals the Grail had been absorbed by the remains of a Black Giant, causing the latter to become even bigger. Said Black Giant then appears. The heroes promptly defeat it and return to Chaldea.[27]
