Sister Ilumia (シスター・イルミア, Shisutā Irumia?) is one of the people involved in the Contract of Atlas incident of Lord El-Melloi II Case Files.
Profile[]
Background[]
A nun from Gray's hometown, actually an Executor of the Holy Church.
The illegitimate child of a Cardinal, she was entrusted to the Church in order to keep the affair a secret, but that was a history that didn't bother her in the slightest. Instead, she one hundred percent accepted her current position of delivering punishment without hesitation to those that stray from the will of God.[2]
She was sent to Blackmore Cemetery by the Church about a year prior to the events of Lord El-Melloi II Case Files,[3] in response to Father Fernando's report that Gray's appearance had transformed.[4] The Church opposed the village's plan to resurrect King Arthur, deeming it heretical.[5]
Personality[]
Ilumia rather enjoys having the ability to punish those who do not follow the teachings of the Lord and is attracted to arrogant girls like Reines. Within the Church, she was a typical representative of the Conservative faction, and as such was somewhat opposed to Father Fernando, but on a personal level she was quite fond of him.[2]
She acts very playfully in combat, winking at her enemies and taunting them as she attacks, a habit she keeps up even when fighting against mindless undead.[6] Her tendency to tease others also extends to her allies such as Father Fernando. She has no respect for those the Church considers heretics, viewing them as even worth considering and only having value through superficial aspects that entertain her such as physical beauty. She views ordinary priests like Fernando as too sympathetic towards heretics, and is disgusted by magi of the Clock Tower.[7] Fernando speculates that if they had lived several centuries in the past, when Ilumia's beliefs were the norm in the Church, someone as tolerant as him may have even been considered a heretic.[8] Despite this, she is able to keep up a peaceful exterior around "heretics" when undercover, having been friendly with Bersac Blackmore for a year prior to the day the two finally fought one another.[9]
Hansa Cervantes says he has never gotten along with her.[10]
Appearance[]
Ilumia has a pair of coffee-brown eyes, a charming splatter of freckles across her face, and a couple of strands of her golden hair that escapes her headpiece.[1] As an Executor she wears a nun’s habit, coif, and veil, with bright red boots and a silver cross necklace.
Role[]
Lord El-Melloi II Case Files[]
Ilumia first appears when Lord El-Melloi II and Reines El-Melloi Archisorte first come to the village of Blackmore Cemetery in the summer preceding the start of Lord El-Melloi II Case Files. She and Father Fernando are the first village inhabitants they meet after Bersac Blackmore, and introductions are made. Just before leaving, Ilumia leans over Reines and whispers into her ear that “It would be best for you to leave as soon as possible”.[1]
She battled the Corpse King's skeletal minions when the temple in the swamp rose to the surface.[11] When the Corpse King died, Logos React began to malfunction and sucked all of the residents of Blackmore Cemetery inside of itself, including Ilumia.[12]
case. Atlas' contract[]
This arc takes place inside a simulation of the village created by Logos React, with a simulation of Sister Illumia included.
After the citizens were freed from Logos React and returned to the real world, Ilumia rushed both Fernando and Magdalena to a nearby hospital as both had been seriously injured before Logos React sucked them inside it.[12]
Abilities[]
A hard puncher who rampages with the Ash Lock, a weapon of the Executors. Though she typically uses her fists to strike out at the world, she is capable with her feet as well.[2] She received training from one of the Church's Chivalric Orders before she became an Executor.[8]
Ilumia fights using the standard Church weapon, the Ash Lock, a gauntlet made from Biblical scripture for the express purpose of punching anyone who blasphemes against the Lord. Her flexibility and agility are like that of a predatory animal, and her sense of balance is near the limit of what humans are capable of. She is highly capable of acrobatic movement in combat, and easily dispatches large groups of enemies with attacks that smoothly flow together.[6] When fighting against Bersac Blackmore, she matches him in both speed and raw strength, moving so quickly that her limbs appear to transform into shadows, and Gray is completely unable to visually track her movements. Gray speculates that at least some of her physical capabilities may be the result of a Sacrament rather than mere training.[9]
Ilumia displays some ability with Sacraments, having been taught strengthening and telepathic communication among other magecraft used among the Executors.[8] She can imbue her Ash Locks with a spell that generates purple tendrils of electricity when fighting against the undead controlled by the Corpse King in the tunnels beneath Blackmore Cemetery.[6] The electricity can also be used to protect herself against enemy magecraft, cancelling out the sonic attacks from Bersac’s raven familiar with a shield of light.[9] She is also able to sense fluctuations in the magical energy of the area around her.[7]

The author is particularly fond of her slightly thicker lips and freckled complexion, like one might see in a foreign drama. Furthermore, the “preference” Father Fernando pointed out of hers was, pretty much just as he said, that cheeky girls like Reines are right within her strike zone.
- ↑ Lord El-Melloi II Case Files Volume 6: case. Atlas Contract (Upper) - Chapter 4 Part 3

A priest dispatched to Gray’s old home.
Though a member of the Holy Church, he is neither an Executor, nor a man with any connections to the central organization. Though he has knowledge of Mystery and magecraft, he is fundamentally just an ordinary person. For places where the potential need for aggressive action is low, people like this are often sent.
Depending on the situation, rather than resorting to violence, people who are able to gently win over others show better results. The Holy Church was well aware of that.
For that reason, after reporting about Gray’s transformation, he suffered no small amount as Ilumia was dispatched and their village became a front line of sorts.
The prayer Gray offered in the Castle of Separation was taught to her by Fernando. “When someone has been driven mad by loss, even if only a little, offer solace first. The question of the existence or lack of faith can be dealt with later.”
Such was the way he taught Gray of the balance struck by the Blackmore Cemetary, no matter that it clearly contradicted the teachings of the Holy Church.
- ↑ Lord El-Melloi II Case Files Volume 7: case. Atlas Contract (Lower) - Chapter 1 Part 4
